After many many years, I decided to return to the Mermaid Suite because for some reason, hotel prices in London had skyrocketed in late March 2022 and four-stars asked for 250-300 EUR / night. I paid only 83 EUR / night, excluding breakfast, which was a fair price. The hotel hadn’t changed at all from how I remember it from years past. There is a very small 1st floor reception area, where I was quickly checked in by the receptionist, who was not directly unfriendly but won’t win any customer service awards either. As the key card didn’t work initially, he came with me to let me in through the door on the opposite side of the street; the rooms are spread out in several buildings along Blenheim Street. It gives the place a residential flair, which I like. My single room was small but adequate for a two-star. It felt reasonably clean. There was a rather narrow single bed, a small desk + chair, a closet and a small bathroom. No fridge, no safe or other amenities. The blinds did little to keep the room dark, sadly, and there were no other curtains, but the bed was reasonably comfortable. The cramped bathroom came with a minuscule shower cubicle, but water pressure from the handheld shower was excellent and hot water ample. The amenities consisted of wall-mounted containers of low-quality soap and bath foam, that’s it. Wifi was free, fast and reliable, although you will need to log in again a few times every day. The password is MERMAIDHOTEL (in capitals), for whatever reason it is not posted anywhere in the room. The hotel is basically located at the corner of Oxford Street and New Bond Street, an excellent location for shopping. Bond Street tube station is a short walk away. If all you need is a bed for the night, en suite, in a central location, then Mermaid Suite is for you, but don’t expect anything above the basic level.

The facilities are a bit old, but they are okay. The only drawback is that the single room bedroom space is a bit small, but it is reasonable. It is relatively small compared to the size of London. The room also has free mineral water. The front desk can take apples for tea and cotton candy, the most praiseworthy is that the service attitude is very good! !! The guests are also very friendly. I think the breakfast is normal (I have to say that the dissatisfied is that the scrambled eggs are a bit hard). Maybe because I am used to the traditional English breakfast.

We had reserved a room with a terrace/balcony (I suffer from Claustrophobia and it just helps to know you can go outside in an instant!). Unfortunately, on entering the room, we discovered there was no terrace. We called reception and this was put right within minutes. Thank you. The terraced area from the bedroom is really nice. You have your own private area with a table (we only had 1 garden chair, but took the chair from inside outside) and then a private garden for all those who have a terraced room. A great area to relax. Our train the following day wasnt until 5pm and the hotel agreed to extend our check out until 4pm. This was great for us, we felt like we had an additional day to enjoy the great weather and atmosphere of London. Didnt feel as rushed. Again Thank you. The location is great, easy walks to the theatres, Harrods, Liberty Buckingham Palace etc. We did almost 60,000 steps during the weekend - we saw so many sights. (We stayed 1 night at 2 different hotels - using reward points). We didnt eat in the hotel as we went to see Back to the Future on the evening and ate at a Thai restaurant after the show. However, on the Sunday I could hear a lot of chatter and laughter coming from the restaurant. It sounded like a good happy place to be and meet with family and friends. The doormen were friendly and always acknowledged us, asking if we were enjoying our break etc. Reception also knew who we were and we felt welcome. The best compliment I can give is to say that it was so good we are returning for Christmas - cant wait :)

We selected this hotel for our 30th wedding anniversary and it was just fabulous in every way. We arrived around 7am (great pick-up from the airport by the car arranged via the hotel) were settled down in the foyer with a coffee. We headed off for a walk returning for our 10am 2 ½hr body treatments in the Spa with Fatima and Nathalie. These were wonderful and just what we needed after a 17hr flight from Darwin! We were upgraded to a Premiere room which was calm, quiet and tastefully decorated and overlooked Brown Hart Gardens. The bed was so comfortable and plenty of storage room in the wardrobe, etc. Pillows and linen were also excellent. The bathroom was spacious with great towels, toiletries, etc. although we did have a little ‘challenge’ with the shower head 😊. All staff were friendly and efficient, and we loved starting our day in Le Magritte bar served by Krzitian with the sooo delicious pastries and, on one occasion, the wonderfully decadent Duck Egg hashes (Salt Beef for Scott and Smoked Haddock for me!). Let’s not forget the fabulous cocktails (oh, and those monogrammed large ice cubes 😊) to start the evening. There was always a lovely ‘welcome back’ greeting from everyone on our returns during the days followed by the easy access to the hotel car/taxi as we set out again. Our anniversary meal in the Colony Grill was excellent as was the service although the candy floss ‘top hat’ was a little strange, but the chocolates were delicious as was the cake, chocolates, and cookies in our room throughout our stay. We would highly recommend a stay in this hotel, and it would be wonderful if we could find another excuse to return to the UK, London, and the Beaumont. Many thanks to all the staff for making our anniversary stay so special 😊😉

It’s always the same with weekend trips to London: Everyone wants to stay in the tourist center near Leicester Square, only to realize that very average hotels there are 400 £ a night. I almost resigned and booked something in Hammersmith when I found this Holiday Inn for 200 £ per night including breakfast. It’s not in the tourist center and not on Oxford Circus either. But close to Bond Street and within walking distance of theatres, museums and all the other West End attractions. Our twin room was renovated, quiet and reasonably equipped, unfortunately with no international type power or USB sockets for charging the mobile devices; Primark at Marble Arch sells adapters for 6 £. The room was tiny and so was the bathroom, storage space was adequate for our weekend trip while insufficient for guests with several suitcases. The breakfast buffet had a nice spread while the dining room in the basement is gloomy and cramped. Staff was friendly and helpful. I don’t give this one five points for being an excellent hotel – it’s not. The selling point is the reasonable price tag for acceptable lodging near central London.

Located in Mayfair the hotel offers the height of service and responsiveness and is in an excellent location that is both quiet, yet accessible by foot to many sights. A couple of caveats. Rooms in the older section, while in the same room category, are somewhat smaller and offer less storage space. Also, ensure that you are fully versed on the electronic lighting systems as there is a high possibility of an error such as lighting up the "do not disturb" signal, which will result in not getting maid service, and the climate control system which will make a difference in your comfort level. The staff was friendly and extremely responsive to any and all requests. Hard to be better customer focused We tried the new martini bar and I must say that it is more of a place "to be seen" with high (over) priced drinks than a nice coktail bar. You be the judge. we will return when in London.

We stayed at the Courthouse Hotel for a night last week and it was the perfect to explore the Soho area. Staff were all friendly, especially the receptionist that gave me a complimentary upgrade for our wedding anniversary. Room well equipped and very clean and modern, with kettle and tea/coffee sachets. Brwakfast fast and efficient, although it’s a buffet the gentleman was very attentive and offered to replenish our food a couple of times. Would use again!
