Never been to Pontins - but with the current Covid situation I saw this being advertised and decided to take my mother away for a four night break. It was the first time she had been anywhere since March. The price was £59 per person for four days - that was dinner, bed and breakfast - FOR FOUR NIGHTS NOT PER NIGHT! I have paid more than that for one night in a Travelodge! We did not expect anything - in fact we were a little apprehensive as to what it would be like. Well -... Did the room need updating? Yes. Could the entertaiment venue do with a bit of TLC? Yes. Was the dining area a little more like a canteen than a restaurant? Yes. But - Was the room clean? Yes! Was the room warm after a chilly day? Yes! Was the shower hot and powerful? Yes! Were we well fed and was there a choice of food? Yes! Did the staff work their socks off under difficult conditions in this Covid time? Yes! Fair play to the staff who are going to be out of work from Monday. They did everything they could to keep people happy. We have no complaints. Quite the contrary.

Paid just over£40 a night for a 3 nights mini break. Due to Covid-19 would have been able to cancel right up until midday of the first night if needed which fortunately wasn’t needed. A modern, clean room on the top floor ( there are lifts ) which was the quiet floor. Very comfortable. All facilities worked including your own air conditioning ! The hotel is in a good location just a short taxi ride from the town centre and there is a pub restaurant next door. We didn’t use the breakfast facilities. Ample free parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very enjoyable stay.

My disabled husband and I have just had a 3week stay at this Premier Inn, while a lift was installed in our home. We were not looking forward to the stay at all but the staff made it really pleasant. The room was spacious and comfortable, and accommodated my husband’s hospital bed which we had to have installed in our room. All the reception staff were friendly and really helpful, cleaning staff were also helpful, unobtrusive and were very understanding as we were in our room most of the time. The only disappointment was the shower - water pressure was abysmal and I was only able to use the shower in my hand. To stand under the shower was impossible unless you stood right on the taps. The cleaning staff were lovely when I said about this and left some lovely bath bombs for me to try to make bathing nicer! Parking was easy and disabled access was great - my husband uses a mobility scooter and was able to take it into the room and charge it there as well. The staff in the attached Beefeater restaurant were equally friendly and helpful. When they learned we were there for 3 weeks they reserved a suitable table for us for every meal, so we were able to go straight in to our table without waiting. Both the waiting staff and bar staff were great, food, whilst fairly restrictive, was always hot and well cooked. Breakfasts were lovely, if noisy at times! Thank you to all. We would happily stay there again.

Lovely little B&B, just 10 minutes walk from sea front and perfectly positioned to access Somersets attractions. The place was spotless. Our room was no. 1 at the front of the building. 3 windows to the room, double bed, little 2 seater sofa, fridge, kettle, tea, coffee and milk available. Everything looked brand new, towels were lovely and fluffy. 2 TVs in the room, 1 in front of sofa on wall and 1 in front of bed on the wall so you can both chose what are where to watch. Beautiful bathroom. We had full breakfast every morning which was very filling. The hosts were lovely and welcoming. Will definitely stay there again if travelling to Weston.

We stayed at the very beginning of June and personally I would highly recommend to anyone who’s looking to stay for 1 or 2 nights. You walk in and greeted by a lovely lady who shows you to your room; decent size, remote controlled light and fan (best thing ever!) and plenty of storage! Just one small thing; the size of the shower ‘closet’ put it this way you stand the room and close the ‘door’ and one legs touching the toilet, your knees are touching the sink, one elbow is in the shower and you backs on the ‘door.’ This is okay when your a couple or close family because you leave the ‘door’ open but can get annoying if not by the second day. Breakfast is good, nice selection could use a new toaster as the one they have is very squeaky but the breakfast is good, staff polite, attentive and cheerful really nice start to the day. Location is great with on site parking, how close it is to the beach and shops, just a short walk and the high street is on the way! Brilliant! Cheddar gorge is so close by! Price for the guest house makes it so highly rated, the value for money is second to none! So other than the size of the shower and the noisy toaster not a bad word to say about the other aspects of our stay! And to be honest the first couple of days are fantastic hence why’d recommend 1-2 nights. But thank you for having us, much enjoyed!

Booked to stay here very last minute as our holiday abroad had been cancelled the day before. Turned up and there was plenty of parking which is a bonus as we had suitcases. Check in was quick and simple. The hotel seems to have its old parts and then its new parts. We needless to say had booked a standard double which was situated in the old part no lift so had to drag cases up stairs. Got to the room which was decorated in a very ornate fashion but was clean and had everything you could ask for even a nice little heater to warm up the room - being October it was a little on the chilly side. Bathroom was large and had a separate shower and bath which is nice. Given the covid restrictions the service of the room was limited but we placed our clean up the room notice on the door and the clean was carried out. Which was a little surprising as we are not early risers and often didn't leave the room unitl noon so left the cleaners very little time. We didn;t have breakfast but the dinning room in which this was being taken was a bit like sitting in the corridor. Refurbishments are under way so hopefully this will be a little different if you visit. We tended to frequent the hotel bar CJ's the food here was of good quality and always tasty. Staff were helpful throughout the stay.

Stayed 4 nights as a group. Very friendly welcome, nothing too much trouble for the staff, really helpful at all times. We even had a phone call before arriving to check if anyone would like a different main course to the one they were providing on our first night. Food was very good. Can recommend the excellent home made vegetable lasagne. Usually a choice of a meat or fish main course with a separate vegetarian menu if required. Good honest home cooking at its best. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Only suggestion for improvement would be to have shampoo/body wash dispensers in the shower. At present need to take these items which nowadays most establishments provide.

A cheerful hotel somehow standing strong against the elements blown in on gale force winds from the Atlantic on an almost daily basis. There are some rooms that are lovely and comfortable and some that need a bit of TLC and maintenance, so its pot luck where you’re allocated. Heating can be temperamental- the hotel has had general issues across entire floors, and in some rooms the heating doesn’t work at all. Thankfully the staff here are all absolutely wonderful and address any issues if you raise them. For cold rooms, they have portable oil filled radiators which they can bring up to your room if its too much to bear. Suspect the cold blowing in from the sea makes sea view rooms more susceptible to temperature issues. Watch out for any rooms around x04 or x05 and a few doors away as these are situated near the stairwell. If you’re a light sleeper you’ll be kept awake by the sound of folks truding up and downstairs. Particularly if the lifts break which they are prone to do every now and again. Generally found 3rd and 4th floor rooms are smarter and cleaner than 1st and 2nd. Some rooms are showing a bit of wear and tear - loose sockets, marks on carpet, marks on walls/ceilings. Nothing horrific - just minor superficial stuff that is noticeable but doesn’t necessarily affect your stay. Beds are just delightful. Well sprung, well proportioned, comfortable and warm. In some rooms there is no bedside shelf or table so I’ve had to drag the chair next to the bed to pop phone etc on. Stairwell carpets often very grubby - not surprising given the traffic these stairs see. Adjoining restaurant is a Brewers Fayre which offers average pub grub - always served very quickly, but lacking any finesse as a result. Breakfast is always lovely - bountiful supply and generally hearty and tasty. As mentioned the staff here are always really pleasant and obliging. A cracking group of folks who only ever want to help. The hotel just needs a bit of tarting up that’s all. Otherwise does the job in a great location.

Almost didn't get to stay here - as Marstons sent us an email the night before advising us all their properties would now be closed. However, half way through the day we received another email from the Old Colonial - As we were travelling for work - we could stay. The room was huge - and very clean, with a lovely view of the sea and pier. Decor was tired, but price reflected this. They still provided breakfast - and happily catered for vegetarians. - Arrived quickly and was delicious. Would definitely return - hopefully next time, we are working in the area, we would be able to use the restaurant and bar. Great hotel, with lovely friendly staff.

Stayed here with friends for a big birthday occasion. Had informed the hotel in advance asking if they could do anything special for birthday boy .... not a card or even sprinkles on the table. Our room 114 was lovely and newly refurbished, however while the shower cubicle looked spacious, the water pressure was very low. This meant spending some time trying to get enough water over you so you could actually wash! The view was awful, see photo's. We didn't upgrade to sea view admittedly, but did go for standard plus. Even some screens outside would've been better to block the horrid view of pipes! The hotel relies on coach parties in the main, and unless you're up early to beat the coach goers, the breakfast can he rather sparse. Only unripe, hard kiwi fruit and slices of water melon left of the fresh fruit salad for instance. Yesterday I was just told that they don't provide fresh fruit salad on a Friday! The waitress did however come back with an orange and a few grapes. You help yourself to hot drinks but the small water jugs are too small to cope with demand, so guests are constantly having to ask for more hot water. A large size hot water flask x 2 would solve the issue. One of the top of the range rooms 101 was very nice, with a superb sea view. However the wind whistling through the bay window drove the guests mad, until they asked for sellotape to try and resolve the issue themselves! The one evening meal we had on site was nice, although we did have to send the vegetable platters back as they were only just warm. After about 9pm we were the only people in the restaurant and even the staff had gone home! Have to say that the staff were pleasant and friendly. We think the hotel had recently been bought by the Bay Group so saw decoration of rooms underway. In the meantime, the hotel is a work in progress. Disabled guests be aware that the disabled lift from the car park to reception isn't working and hasn't been it would seem, for some time. The only way in is by some eight quite steep steps.

Our visit to Weston-super-Mare was made special with our overnight stay at the lovely Oakover Hotel. The Hotel is in a Great Location, near to the beach and a short walk to the town. There is parking around the back for smaller cars. We felt very welcomed by Simon on our arrival. We had booked the Room with the Spa bath. Everything was set out nicely in the room. We had complementary tea /coffee/ Hot chocolate and some biscuits. The room was clean and tidy and the spa bath was lovely. We slept well as the room was quiet and temperature was good. The breakfast was well presented and we had a great choice. It was cooked well and tasted lovely. We only had a one night stay at Oakover but we would definitely stay again and we would highly recommend it.

A friendly and pleasant hostess. We were not introduced to the host. A really excellent breakfast was provided (though only a tiny portion of the excellent marmalade was provided on the first morning, so we had to ask for more. "Mushrooms" turned out to be just one mushroom!) The guest house is beautifully situated and has a pleasant garden. The building seemed in very good decorative order and was scrupulously clean. Biscuits in the rooms were readily replenished upon request. My mattress was rather poor. I did not sleep well as it sagged a little and the only reason the springs were not too obvious is because it had two mattress-protectors on top. I expected better than this for the price. Efficient wi-fi and TV; nights blissfully quiet; plenty of hanging space for clothes; hair dryer provided. Barely tepid water for showers on the first two mornings. This was a serious deficiency, but the hostess managed to get the boiler fixed in time for our third morning and deducted £50 from each bill. The water is very soft, so it is quite difficult to get rid of the soap, especially when the water is not hot. The rooms were OK, but not as nice as the room we saw when we were first shown the place. Had we seen the rooms which we were actually allocated we probably would not have made the booking. All in all, a good guest house; though in my opinion, it is over-priced.

When we first arrived, the First two ladies we spoke was lovely and friendly and very welcome , we then found out we had to pay for parking (we was staying for a week so was quite expensive) £12 a day . this isn’t stated when you book. we got to our room to found the standard of the room was not what was shown in the pictures , the window looked as if it hadn’t been cleans in a few weeks , we understand that you’re in a seaside town and the window are going to get very dirty but you wouldn’t of be able to scraped the thick layer dirt off! When opening the window there was mold growing on the window opening. My sons bed was against the wall by the window , we were right by a street light that came thought the curtains, and the draft coming though the window which meant we had to move our sons bed next to ours! For a family of three who was staying a week , we had hardly any room to hang our clothes , literally three coat hangers ! So we had to live out our suite cases , there is a long light behind the double bed , this was full of grim and dirt and was broken! The bath have some handles in them one was broken and the rest was full of dirt , around Mirror in the bathroom was had marks all around it! The bathroom floor had dirt and grim behind the door where it looked like it hadn’t been clean! The sink again had thick dirt around it , our hand was didn’t even have hand wash in it , it had the shower and body wash stuff in it! The usb socket next to the bed was broken. We had cleans in four times during our stay they only hovered once and never once changed our bedding and what with a two year old wasn’t very helpful! They didn’t really do much to the room apart from change our dirty towels! We ate in the restaurant down stairs the first night we arrived and we wish we didn’t , the food was horrible, the burger tasted like it had been cooked in a microwave , my sons sausage was over cooked , my partner’s pizza look amazing but when he tired picking it up it feel apart and didn’t taste right! There was a cat that kept coming into the restaurant, the staff kept trying to get it out and keep it out which is a positive. On a whole the travelodge looked nice from the outside , the room was horrible. the staff where lovely and welcoming can’t fault them enough! We normally always stay in travelodges if we travelling and we’ve never had a problem until this one .

I stayed here with my mum and daughters and it was lovely. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely smiley woman and she was extremely helpful. Check in was quick. When we entered the room, it was slightly chilly so we turned the radiator on and it heated the room up with a couple of minutes (we could see why they didn’t leave it on as it got warm quickly). The room was clean, the bath and shower were great and the Sleepeeze mattress was the best mattress I’ve ever slept on. We didn’t have breakfast but when I can downstairs to get more milk for our room, I could see the social distancing rules were adhered to. We have a disabled badge and one of the male workers (I don’t know his name) saved us a space when we went out, which was very much appreciated. If I could change one thing it would be that I wish there was a plug near the tv as my daughters brought there fire stick with but couldn’t use it. Minor detail. All in all, I’d definitely stay here again!

I stayed here and you certainly get what you pay for. Room was basic but clean and all you needed to rest your head for a night. I unfortunately left my headphones at the hotel and was distraught when I found out as I live 3 hours away, however the manager was more than accommodating and sent them back via an envelope I sent them and I could not be more thankful. It may not seem like a lot, but my headphones are needed for my everyday so when they arrived back safely I was overjoyed. Nothing is too much for the manager, really nice and would recommend staying again! Thank you so so much.

We stayed here overnight as going out with friends. There was a derby match on with Fleetwood so bar filled up pretty quickly after the game. But what a fab atmosphere. There was a lovely gentleman that greeted us on arrival & advised the car park was full up but gave us a free voucher to park at Travelodge. There was no places at the time but after 15 mins wait we secured a parking place. Said gentleman (concierge) is by far a massive asset to the hotel. Our room was lovely & view spectacular, everything you needed for a night away plus more. We went into the bar fir some lunch & although it seemed to take ages it was well worth the wait. We were very late getting back 3.30am (dirty stop outs) but were greeted so warmly on our return & had a chat & laugh with security. Breakfast this morning was amazing, only down fall was no black pudding & fried eggs a little sad but the scrambled eggs were as light as a feather. I burnt the toast & set fire to it (my fault) but the staff just laughed, very nicely & sorted it. Check out as check in was as smoith as ever & lots of chat. We will definitely return as quite simply, the whole experience was a poor joy

This is a tremendous place to stay if you want to enjoy Blackpool. Number One is located on South Beach close to where the illuminations start. This means being an easy walk from the tram stop that gives easy access to the whole of Blackpool (for a £5 a day hop on hop off ticket). The trams run back until around midnight. A taxi to the Tower is about £7.50 if you prefer. And if you want to walk this is just as easy and completely free... There are dedicated parking spaces and plenty of on road free spaces that are free and safe. Number one has a tremendous welcome - the two girls that greet you, escort you personally to your room to go through the facilities and look after you at the well stocked bar are friendly, happy and helpful. The help, generosity and welcome is extended by Mark who was able to provide first class recommendations for restaurants and shows (we took up the recommendation to see Kinky Boots which was exceptional) and he was kind enough to provide a discount code for the Winter Garden. What strikes you when visiting is the quality of the decor, fixtures and furniture throughout Number One. The owners take great pride in their property and it shows. It’s modern, funky, clean and bright. The rooms are all well appointed, clean and well maintained. We had number 12 on the third floor. This is serviced by a lift or staircase. The sea view is good and the room boasts tv, whirlpool bath, shower, remotes for lighting, small balcony, seating area and comfy bed. The box of nick nacks that could be little essentials in the wardrobe is a super touch. The bar area is a generous social area and the range of drinks wide and various. Service is until 11:00pm after which time and honesty bar works if you want a night cap or longer chatting. Breakfast selections are made the evening before to save wastefulness and works really well. It’s a wide menu along with a buffet for fruit, cereals etc. The quality of what Mark cooks is exceptional. The fresh orange is a must. It can be cold in Blackpool but Number 1 can be really hot... Number 1 is a credit to the owners and staff. An award winner. And one of our favourites from our travels - no mean feat.

I just don`t know where to start with this "HOTEL"...I had read the reviews which are mostly negative so I wasn`t expecting anything special...2 stars, basic but they do a breakfast and are close to the amenities. On entering the place, it was obvious that the decor and carpets were rotten. strong, musty smell but the lady seemed pleasant and we were given our room keys...Nothing, and I mean, NOTHING, could have prepared me for the nightmare I was walking into. The room are the smallest I have ever seen. I have a potting shed with more space!..The toilet area had a large puddle of coloured fluid around it and the lighting area above the shower had so many dead insects of different sizes that a field biologist would have had a field-day. I complained to the lady about the water around the toilet and she said I could have the room next door. She obviously didn`t like me complaining as she put me in, what I can only describe as a cleaning cupboard..8ft x 11ft as a form of punishment. I declined her offer of the cupboard and said i would have to avoid using that area. Though I was told it would be fixed..it never was in 3 days. There was the issue with "Towelgate". "no towels"," I`ll get her to put them in your room", "no towels", "I`ll put some in your room", "no towels", "fetch em yourself!!!....My friends room was even smaller than mine and you know a room is small when you cannot even get a wardrobe in it!!.(He never did get any towels so I gave him 1 of mine)..There were 6 of us staying at this place and we all had the issues. No hot water in 2 of them, no heating in 1 of them, I tried to open the windows in my room and they all appeared to be locked shut and the toilet window had the handle snapped off. After 2 fire alarms at 7am in the morning, I felt this place had some real issues. We asked for breakfast in the morning, told that would be ok, went out for the evening and on our return, we were told that they had cancelled our breakfast because they thought we were going to "get pissed" and wouldn`t be up in time for breakfast..Unbelievable..(Does 2 gin and tonics for a 57 year old lady count as "getting pissed") Thankfully, this actually did us a favour as the dining room is disgusting and I doubt it would have a food hygiene certificate and there are plenty of cheap cafes just a 2 minute walk away and they are clean with good hot food. All in all, this has to be the worst place I have ever visited. I would suggest that the new owners have bitten off more than they can handle, they are friendly, only 3 people, but this establishment needs an awful lot of time and money spent on it to bring it up to the very basic level....enjoy the photos!!....oh, and as for the "Pool" that some people keep mentioning, the only pool I saw was the the one in my bathroom. Luckily, we, as a group could see the funny side and was certainly an experience but, listening to everyone complaining at the reception, makes for a toxic environment. I don`t

Stayed with my girlfriend and my kids went to the bar area for food after discovering the kids won't eat the bistro food so bar food ie fish and chips pizza and so on ordered my drinks for the four of us then told by a ride young lad at the bar that we can't have food off the bar menu because he has one pair of hands then tried to say we were abusive to him as I have extensive customer service experience I know we were calm and collected in the way we spoke to him I decided I am not having this made my way to reception to explain the situation as my kids would have had nothing eat the happily rectified it for me and took my order upon returning to the bar the young lad behind the bar said that his job is stressful I thought he doesn't know the meaning of stressful All in all we got food but dirty looks from this young lad spoilt the evening would have been nice but he ruined the trip away

Arrived and were welcomed by Veronica and Bob, both wonderful and friendly people. Taken to room on top floor as requested, clean, tidy and wonderful room, only downside is I'm What one would call large and the gap between the toilet and sink is small but I squeezed through lol Shower worked well, bathroom although small was wonderfully clean, I'd even go as far as to say pristine! No noise at all virtually at any time but night times are silent and peaceful, breakfast is amazing, full English with toast, conserves and butter, coffee or tea, cereals, fruit and fresh orange the works! The hot breakfast was cooked to perfection and tasted brilliant a definite 10/10 on that side of things! The dining room is immaculate and Veronica and Bob are careful to protect from covid, the tables are covered after they are cleaned with plastic sheets to make sure nothing can deposit on them when people walk past etc.... Wanted to stay another night and Bob not only worked around other clients he even gave me a small discount too! I'd highly recommended this small, cosy hotel, away from the main strip but a 3 minute walk to the tram stop, the owners are friendly, helpful and make a stunning breakfast! Extra duvets on wardrobe in case you need them. Both Bob and Veronica will.help you What ever your needs, amazing couple x Don't hesitate to book here!

My partner and I made a last minute decision to stay in and booked the Ruskin Hotel and we are so glad we did. We were both overwhelmed with how lovely the staff were and could not be happier with our stay. I am not usually one to write reviews but I just cannot believe the level of service at the Ruskin and want more people to know about the Ruskin so they can enjoy it like we did! Within our first day we felt part of a community and we really were so well looked after. We went all inclusive and I wouldn’t do it any other way when we go back. You get breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as soft drinks, hot drinks and selected alcoholic drinks. The food was incredible which given the price we was really surprised about. Although the alcoholic drinks are only certain drinks it covers your regular spirits, red/white/rose and an in-house larger that my partner said was really nice so you won’t go without. The room we stayed in was the king premier room and it was ideal for our 4 night stay. Modern, very spacious, comfortable and clean. There was also nightly entertainment. Singing, bingo, and even an in-house comedian who was brilliant! Despite all the staff being amazing we would like to give a special mention to Lesley and Gary in the bar to the right of reception And Enzo, the catering Manager. Lesley, was the most welcoming, kind natured woman I have ever had the pleasure of meeting whilst in a hospitality capacity. Lesley was always making sure we had food and drink flowing as well as showing a genuine interest to my partner and I. Gary, was very much the same. Extremely welcoming and attentive. We later found out from another staff member that Gary was the director of the hotel which really shocked us given how hands on and helpful he is. That is not to say that hotel directors aren’t usually lovely people, but you don’t usually see them so involved and so interested in their residents. And finally the lovely Enzo, from the moment we had our first meal Enzo was attentive and regularly checking in to make sure we were happy with the food and the service. Really lovely man who works very hard to ensure all guests are happy with their dining experience. Would highly recommend to all age groups! My partner and I are mid twenties but there were guests ranging from children to 80’s and all were equally enjoying themselves.

It is tired, and needs some investment, it needs someone to love it and to make it good. It’s a big place, and for whatever reason, has been left to fall apart. However, the man that checked us in was very helpful. We had 2 prams, helped up in and out on several occasions. We were only here for 1 night, and paid £92.00 for a family room. Which at the time of booking was cheap, I always read reviews before booking and decided to book anyway, giving them approx 5 months to get stuff sorted..,..they haven’t. It’s still getting the bad reviews that it deserves. They had there settings with booking.com set so you couldn’t change or cancel. Or you would be charged anyway. So when I’ve re read their reviews a month ago, I couldn’t cancel. Or I’d of lost the money. So for that reason, if your reading this before booking, check everywhere else first. Make this your absolute last resort. It is dirty, dusty window sills, stained carpets, it’s stuff that if you was running a hotel properly shouldn’t have. It’s run badly no doubt about that. Good points... .it’s close to the tram stop.. Lonsdale car park is about a 5 min walk away....£12.00 for 24 hours. It’s close to the beach, centrally located. Really sorry there is nothing good about the hotel itself. Oh yea 1 our beds were clean. 😀 the only reason we stayed.
