4.52km from St Marks SchoolBooked to stay here very last minute as our holiday abroad had been cancelled the day before. Turned up and there was plenty of parking which is a bonus as we had suitcases. Check in was quick and simple. The hotel seems to have its old parts and then its new parts. We needless to say had booked a standard double which was situated in the old part no lift so had to drag cases up stairs. Got to the room which was decorated in a very ornate fashion but was clean and had everything you could ask for even a nice little heater to warm up the room - being October it was a little on the chilly side. Bathroom was large and had a separate shower and bath which is nice. Given the covid restrictions the service of the room was limited but we placed our clean up the room notice on the door and the clean was carried out. Which was a little surprising as we are not early risers and often didn't leave the room unitl noon so left the cleaners very little time. We didn;t have breakfast but the dinning room in which this was being taken was a bit like sitting in the corridor. Refurbishments are under way so hopefully this will be a little different if you visit. We tended to frequent the hotel bar CJ's the food here was of good quality and always tasty. Staff were helpful throughout the stay.
