We stayed 4 nights at the Hotel Casa Valdese and loved the property! It is located on a quiet street in the Prati district, an upscale neighborhood just east of Vatican City. The hotel is a few blocks from Via Cola di Rienza, a wide boulevard lined with designer shops and restaurants. It is a quiet, safe area that is centrally located, but away from the throngs of tourists and is a wonderful base from which to see Rome. The property itself is in a charming building, with well-kept rooms and common areas. The staff are helpful and welcoming. They arranged taxis for us and also made restaurant recommendations. Our room had comfortable beds and was spotlessly clean. There was ample closet space, high ceilings, and windows that opened to let in the breeze. Breakfast was provided each morning, with a good array of choices. Coffee, water, sodas, juice, beer and wine were available anytime for a small fee. We were completely charmed by Hotel Casa Valdese, and cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Rome! We will be back!FromUS$81.00

After booking here several months ago and seeing reviews of being misled leading up to my holiday I was a bit unsure of what to expect. On arrival we was asked for our passports and a credit card in case we used the minibar in the room, we was then told that we would be charged the city tax on check out of 4€ per person, per night. We was then told about breakfast times. We was in room 2B over looking the front of the building, a room with striped black and white wallpaper, my first impression of the room was that it looked and smelled clean, the ceiling is very high in the room which was different but gave character to the room, closer inspection, yes some of the decor is becoming worn but not a problem for me, some of it, like the mirrors for example are meant to be that way for the theme, the tv is too small for the room but I couldn’t get more than one channel anyway, so I didn’t use it, I could have been using it wrong though... I didn’t have time in my 3 night stay to care! The next two things that were quiet annoying is the shower and the toilet, the toilet water runs constantly after being flushed, I found that you have to push it in quickly and let go for it to stop, the shower head is high up, meaning the water runs out wide towards you, I found it doesn’t seem to run on to your body well enough, maybe a new shower head would sort that? The cleaner does a great job cleaning up, the beds are bouncy but comfortable. The air con works well. The breakfast, after seeing pictures I thought it looked a bit poor, but we only paid £10 extra for it, I was surprised when I went, good choice, continental breakfast available with hot and cold drinks. The location, just round the corner from Lepanto metro and bus station, you can visit everywhere with ease as well as some great restaurants round the area. Prati is a great area. Even with the few bad points I would definitely stay again!FromUS$87.00

We stayed here for four nights. The hotel is modern, comfortable and very clean. The room itself was quite small, but I have heard all hotel rooms are in Rome, and also we were only sleeping there so it wasn't even a slight issue. The location is fantastic. I had expected to be getting metros everywhere but we didn't actually use public transport once ( apart from to get to and from the airport) - we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go including the Vatican, colosseum etc - which was amazing! The location also felt extremely safe as it is in the financial district, and there are restaurants and gelato shops (amazing) all along the surrounding streets. The host Christian was really friendly and welcoming - he showed us to our room and then gave us a map and wrote on it to show us where all the tourist hotspots are, places to avoid and restaurant recommendations which we found really helpful. Breakfast was included but we did not order any as we were setting off super early each day to get straight into sight seeing - but there were lots of options for cereal, egg, meats, juices & coffee. There is a communal area outside of the bedrooms where you can make a lovely coffee, have some cake or cookies (which were complementary) and also borrow a number of guide books on Rome. Overall, we had an amazing time and would really recommend this place to anybody!FromUS$54.00

Perfect accommodations in every way. The location is right in the heart of Rome within walking distance of the Vatican and other sights of interest, yet it is on a quiet, shady side street that doesn’t “feel” like it is in a big city. The hospitality started with a welcome email from the manager upon booking, with an offer to send a car to the airport (at an extra charge.). The carfare was about the same as a taxi, but we were personally greeted at the airport by the driver which was quite welcome after a long flight. The manager is warm, friendly, and helpful and very accommodating to American guests (he and the other staff speak English.). The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, far exceeding our expectations, with a sparkling clean, luxurious bathroom and all the amenities. A simple breakfast, including cappuccino, was brought to our room each morning and we enjoyed it on our private balcony overlooking a secluded, shady courtyard (no street noises.). The location was charming and relaxing which made our visit to Rome even better than we expected.FromUS$91.00

We stayed only one night on our return from Naples and we really enjoyed the whole stay. The hotel has strategic location, near metro station, Vatican and close to the Spanish steps. The Prati neighborhood is beautiful, with many restaurants and shops. As the Platinum NH Rewards member I was upgraded to a beautiful suite with two levels, two bathrooms and nice balcony with nice view over Prati and Vatican. The room has lots of natural light, that was great. We were generously welcomed with sandwiches, campaign and pistachio served in our room, that was very kind from the guest relations manager. The kettle and coffee were available in the room, and we really enjoyed if. The room was very modern, matching the NH collection style, and the bathrooms (we had two) were spacious with all the NH amenities, including the hand cream and soft mask and fluffy towels. Needless to say for a NH Collection hotel, the beds were perfectly comfortable for a relaxing sleep. The staff is very kind throughout the hotel. I must compliment Ivana from the reception. She is very kind, professional and efficient and instantly made us feeling welcomed.The large group of tourists was present in the hotel, but the breakfast team was great. Even though the breakfast area was crowded, the food was restocked, so everyone could enjoy the rich and famous NH breakfast, with especially rich selection of fresh fruits and fruit juices. The food was beautifully served and breakfast area was nicely decorated. I also want to compliment amazing, smiling and kind Agnese from the restaurant. With plans to come back, I highly recommend the hotel to anyone who wants nice, newly renovated hotel, with very kind staff, close to the Vatican, Spanish steps and close to the metro. We were 4 people in a room, which were enough for a short trip. The location of the hotel is really good - 20 mins walking to St Peter Basilica and Vatican Museums, 15 min walking to Piazza del Popolo, 2-3 mins walking to metro station and many bus stops. The area is very quiet, nice and clean, contrary to historical centre area. You can feel real Rome just few steps from Vatican. They checked us in earlier - around 11.30am, which I do appreciate much after an early flight. Gordon was very king and caring. We chose what to have for breakfast everyday - croissant, boiled eggs, bread, cheese, meat, cereal, fruits, and all was fresh. The beds were comfortable. The only thing I be more happy about is if there we a common eating area. The breakfast is served in the room. What I appreciate more is the list of the nearby restaurants left in the room. It is hard to find good Italian food in Rome, especially around the sights. We went to the first restaurant in the list, 5 min walking from the hotel, it was real Italian one, delicious pizzas, pasta, tiramisu, and very good wine. Thank you so much for this!FromUS$54.00

Wow, what a disappointment!! Positives: The location is in a great neighbourhood near the Lepanto metro stop and walkable to the Vatican. Building security is good. Artwork is kind of cool throughout. Rooms have lockers. Negatives: Everything about this place is dirty - it is barely cleaned. Beds are terrible!!! Paper thin and my sheets were ripped with bloodstains on them. The bed above me has ripped open and also had blood stains for me to stare at in bed. Rooms have air conditioning but the remote wasn’t there so we couldn’t use it. Bathroom is dirty and sticky with no ventilation. Showers have no pressure and the water is lukewarm at best. Kitchen is so small and very dirty - I would not at all want to use this. Tv room only has seating on a couch for two which is also covered in stains. Rooms don’t lock and sometimes in the bathroom it was hard to open the lock to get out again. No atmosphere, very little common area space and surprisingly few people staying here speak a word of English. For a hostel in Rome, the location is great but the price for a dorm bed is more like a budget hotel. Don’t forget that you will need to pay the city tax in cash on arrival in addition to your room price. It is a better place to stay than the area around Termini but in Rome I’d recommend that you pay an extra $20 per person/night and stay in a budget hotel. SOLD OUT

Angela is the best person to welcome you in this beautiful city. You can tell she loves her job and Rovati guesthouse. She makes you feel home and has the best heart! Suggesting you the best places to visit with a great quality-price rate and she is always ready to help you, as if you were her friend. The place is very clean, fancy and has great prices, people think it is a bed and breakfast so they expect breakfast to be served but this is a guesthouse, which is different, therefore breakfast is not always included, despite that she gives people a nice basket with delicious snakes , fruit and a kettle with teas and coffee, to welcome you there, so sweet!. The location is amazing, in a safe and centered place of this beautiful city. I went there for business trips and family vacation and it was great. Located 700 yards from the Vatican on a main shopping road, with Christmas illuminations along its entire length, this third floor suite of hotel rooms is accessed by a caged wooden lift with glass doors. The rooms are modern, clean and warm. Breakfast (of your choice) is delivered to your room on a trolley. The owner, Gabriel, and his staff could not be more helpful. Lepanto metro station is a ten minute stroll away and euro1.50 getd you anywhere on the system. Very good hotel, standard star hotel, very close to the subway station, take 8 minutes, take the subway line A from the train station, take exit 8 of Lepanto subway station, then take the second road and turn right, then again Turn left at all the way to the hotel; go to Popolo Square and go out to the left along the road, cross the bridge for 5 minutes (the subway passes by), then walk for 8 minutes, then go to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain Yes; going to the Vatican Museum is just 15 minutes walk from the hotel to the right. Breakfast with vegetarian salad also has fried mushrooms and fried eggplant. In short, it is a good hotel in Rome for the whole month👍FromUS$261.00

Perfect location, especially if you arrive from the train station, so you can directly leave your luggage and walk in the biggest open hair museum: Rome! The hotel is very modern and new! The twin bedroom was equipped with all the facilities and spacious and spot clean. The Staff and the property are very well prepared and following the new Covid safety procedures. A special thanks to the reception team, the super funny guy that welcomed me and my friend upon arrival and the amazing lady that was there upon check out. Keep it up with the great job and I’ll see you on my next visit, Ciao

Stayed here for 2 nights. Arrived late gone 10pm pleasantly surprised that the restaurant was still open lovely food. Also offered a snack menu if we wanted to eat after 10.30pm. Very lovely bar and chill out areasThe room was immaculate with a very decent bath and shower. Breakfast was continental but plenty of it. 20 minute bus ride into central of Rome. €12.00 euros ticket covers 48hours and can be used on all public transport. We used the bus, train and tram. Restaurants in Rome all charge for sides i.e. veg or salad etc. Eat in the ones way from the main attractions by a couple of streets. Wear trainers as you end up walking alot and pack a travel umbrella. Stayed 2 days and saw loads Night time was a magical atmosphere everything lit up.

Though the beds need to be updated, the room was big, and the location was perfect as it was close to the terminal. However, the city tax they charge was quite expensive. The hallway set up was a little confusing at first but not too bad. One hallway was a little creepy though; and the spa seems to open late and close early. The staff were nice and love the rooftop bar.

We were planning a stay in a Rome prior to our cruise and selected The Hassler due to its pre-cruise package - a great deal. We took advantage of the personal assistant at the airport and the hotel transfer and felt like VIP’s. Very welcome after our long overnight flight from the US. The assistant insisted on handling our bags for us and getting us through some airport construction to find our driver. All seamless. We spent 6 lovely nights at The Hassler in early Feb 2020. The staff were so friendly and accommodating from the time we entered the hotel treating us like frequent returning customers. We were fortunate to have a room overlooking the Spanish Steps and what a view! A very comfy bed, too. We enjoyed a few meals in Salone Eva and enjoyed great food and impeccable service. Such friendly staff who made certain we were happy with everything from our drink orders to our food. The buffet breakfast was really good, too, with a wide variety of selections and the same service in a beautiful dining room. So many friendly people who pampered us and made us feel like we were the most important people there. We loved their Amorvero body lotion and wish we could buy it online but unable to find it anywhere. Our transfer to Civitavecchia took us right to the cruise terminal and helped us get our bags dropped off with the handlers. All top notch service. We hope to return here in the future to enjoy the luxury of the Hassler. This was the best service we have ever experienced and heartily recommend staying at this hotel. You won’t be disappointed.

Termini Central Station
We travelled as a family of 2 Adults & 2 Children. Most part of our trip to Europe we were all in 1 room, however at Rome we had booked a quad room with connecting doors, and this was amazing for all family members to have a bigger space. Both rooms were spacious, clean, and modern. Beds & pillows super comfortable, wifi works great. In the main room there was an amazing space to do your make up each morning with a mirror and lights, lighting needs to be a little brighter but great to have own area. Breakfast was only 9€ and quite a big selection, both of my fussy eaters enjoyed! The waitress was lovely and kind. Walking distance to everything - we chose to walk over the city as everything is walking distance and you get to see more, however HoHo bus stops are close, and walking distance to Terminal train station. I would 100% stay here again, and recommend this hotel to anyone! Also a mention to the staff in reception, who were very kind with check out! Great hotel, stay here!

We stayed at the Monti Palace Hotel for a week in September. It is worth saying this was during the coronavirus pandemic so Rome was very quiet although case numbers in Italy were low. Firstly, the positives:- Location - hotel is right on top of the metro station which is very convenient. Note that you have to change at termini for several locations in central Rome. 20 min walk from Trevi fountain or pantheon, 10 mins to forum and colosseum. Small supermarket directly across the street and lots of restaurants in the local vicinity. We had good, cheap food at La Base, Ai Tre Scalani and Iari the Vino. Check in - we arrived at 12:30 and were informed the room was ready - much appreciated after an early start. We were told we had been upgraded to a superior room but that is the room type we had booked (and shows on our booking confirmation) No problem so we didn’t say anything but a bit odd to say we had been upgraded. We also requested a high floor to be away from the road noise and were put on the top floor for rooms. Room - room was a good size and overall very clean. The bathroom in particular was lovely. Housekeeping did a very thorough job each day. Air con was great and the bed was very comfy. But, see below the negative points The not so good things:- Breakfast - was included in our rate (not free included in the price!) it was pretty dire to be honest. I know with covid it is difficult but can’t understand why they couldn’t offer toast (we specifically asked on the form you fill in, in both English and Italian and were given bread), or why fruit such as a banana couldn’t be offered. We had the bacon one day - was the soggiest bacon I’ve ever seen and arrived in less than 2 mins so I assume was microwaved? Conversely the croissants are cold and from a packet. I understand it is a really hard time but I do think they could be doing better. The water and juice was good. Reception - usually very good but I did ask one member of staff if I could pay to print out some tickets for the colosseum we had booked last minute. He said only from 2pm which I thought was very odd (and too late for us!) seemed like he just couldn’t be bothered and his colleague would be on the desk by 2pm. The lift also seemed to smell really bad every time we used it. Light switches - the one anomaly in otherwise a very clean hotel. The light switches were filthy - really disgusting, looked like they’d never been cleaned and this applied to all of them - the two by the bed, the bathroom and by the main door to the room (pics attached). Storage - the room has been designed by a designer rather than by someone who has actually tried staying in the room! We had the largest size of room and it had one single wardrobe maybe 2.5ft wide - with a rail, and two shelves (there was another shelf but well out of reach).
