Say the feeling: The hotel is conveniently located opposite the SM Mall. insufficient: Small room, old facilities 1. When you wipe/pull the card, the switch is very loud. 2. The room phone does not display the number of the front desk (the phone does not show which number the front desk dials, then at least the manual should be placed so that the customer knows how to call the front desk and dial the number, but there is no display. Leading me to ask the front desk to have a hair dryer and to make an international long distance. 3. Ask the hotel to have a hair dryer, hit 2 numbers, and send it up after about 30 minutes. The hair dryer is still storing electricity! The one that blows for a few minutes without electricity. 4. Because there is no reminder for breakfast time, my default is 10:30 before, I can go down at 9:40, the waiter starts to pull around 10:00, and starts to remind me, personal feeling: even if the end of 10:00, the customer Already eating, you should not withdraw, but also remind customers that they are in the rush 5. The breakfast variety is very small, basically no or cold at 9:40 pm, because there is no heating function under their small pot.

This is hotel operation simplified and it works. There is no pool, no restaurant (more on that in a moment), no room service. Just a lovely, small hotel located in an upscale, gated subdivision for all intents and purposes within sight of one of Davao City's major malls. Marton Suites is quiet at all times, most importantly at night. The rooms are a very good size and fully equipped with fridge, propane stove, pots, pans, rice cooker, kettle, plates, cups, and cutlery. Fantastic shower, comfortable bed, and excellent pillows. The room decor is modern and appealing to the eye. Common areas are breezy and pleasant to walk through. Cable TV and super-fast wi-fi. My wife and I were particularly impressed with the wi-fi. We were able to watch Netflix whenever we wanted without buffering. Now for the service. When we arrived, we had been assigned a room on the second floor. However, having recently gone too hard while running, I was wearing a knee brace. As soon as the person on the desk noticed the brace (as I was starting up the stairs), she asked if I'd prefer a room on the first floor. I did and the change was made. Very proactive. My wife's neck is forever giving her grief and she's never been able to find a pillow that doesn't give her grief one way or another. Until she slept a couple of nights on Marton Suites' pillow, that is. It was perfect so she asked where the hotel gets it's pillows. Problem was they are purchased from a commercial hotel supply company. Problem solved - Marton Suites sold us a pillow - for half the price of the last one we bought retail. There is no need for Marton Suites to have a restaurant because SM City Mall is a 2 minute walk away and it has all kinds of restaurants. And Starbucks (and other options) for breakfast. One quick note - room is cleaned when you ask for it to be cleaned, not automatically every day. Marton Suites is not located in the center of Davao City, so if that's where you need to be, it's not the place for you. But for everyone else, it's perfect.

We stayed at The Big House for 11 days. Thanks to the owner who kept us company for most of the time during which we had to deal with earthquakes and a few aftershocks. She made sure we were all safe. At the first sight of the Isaac room, I wasn't impressed because of the lack of patio and lack of fridge. That impression didn't last long as they were able to find solution to the fridge thing. We don't really need patio. Just go outside and voila, a nice big and clean garden awaits you! There is a complimentary breakfast for house guests. I just wish there were more choices for my strictly vegetarian boyfriend like a cereal with yogurt but he was happy alternating between banana pancake and toast bread with marmalade. We were also served variety of cheese (pesto, gouda to name a few) made by the Chef owner herself, Beth. When it was breakfast time and she asked us if we want cheeses, "oh yeah sure, we won't say no to that" :) Thanks Beth and to the many stories you shared. She is very knowledgeable about healthy eating and even shares to her staff what she knows so they can learn to be good cook as well. They have restaurant that serves vegetarian dishes. Oh yes! Yummy food, happy tummy! She made suggestions on what we order, the portion that is enough for a group of seven, how to eat certain food. The staff and the owner make this place special and truly a home away from home.

I stayed in Blue Lotus during the COVID-19 pandemic and this hotel is just obsessed with cleanliness from the main lobby guards, reception, elevators up to your room... everything is sanitized! My room reminded me of a Korean drama (K-Drama) where every feature is conveniently high technology. You can avail of guest services (housekeeping, room service, etc) through your room TV and should you need to adjust the room temperature, all you need to do is call the front desk and they can adjust it for your remotely. My suite is clean, full of amenities one can find in luxurious hotels and while lacking of a good view, the hotel service makes up for it. Checking in and out was breeze as well. Will definitely stay in Blue Lotus again!
