It was a last minute all inclusive deal, never been to Greece before but it was reported as a five star hotel rated 4.6 on Trip advisor, so, desperate for a break after nearly three years, off I flew with three friends. The paperwork said the hotel transfer from the airport should be approx 1hr 10, The reality was more like 30m which was the first bonus. Check in was seamless and the staff were really pleasant and helpful. We had two rooms, the wardrobes and drawers inside were a little tired and battle worn but the rooms were spotlessly clean and I'll take that over a few chips here and there any day! As part of the all inclusive package we could book the Italian, Asian and brunch restaurant experiences and were advised to do so as early as possible as they got booked up quickly. We booked on the Wednesday we arrived and the earliest we could secure was the Saturday, Sunday and Monday so I would recommended booking on arrival if you want to try those experiences to avoid disappointment, you do this on the tablets at reception. The food was amazing in all three. One of my friends has a serious allergy to some Chinese food and we were all impressed by the way this was handled in the Asian restaurant. The rest of the eateries were walk in. There was a Greek restaurant, Burger and Pitta, Mexican, crepes and Pizza oven by the pool in the gardens, plus ice cream on tap. All sit down apart from the Pizza oven and ice cream where you could take them away. We only had to queue for a table at the burger restaurant which was really popular, I can imagine in the height of summer the wait for that one might be a long one , There is also a buffet style restaurant open for continental breakfast, breakfast, lunch, evening meal and late dinner, basically almost all day until 4am. We never had to queue at any other place more than a couple of minutes. Again the food couldn't be faulted, there was always something for everyone and new things to try every day. In the wake of the pandemic we only had to wear masks when walking around in the restaurants, in the buffet you were also given one disposable glove for when you used the tongs or spoons which we thought was a great safety measure even if we had to fight the urge to moonwalk up and down the aisle like Michael Jackson every time we put it on. In all the restaurants we never had to ask for a drinks refill as soon as our glasses got low the staff were there topping them up god bless them! The pools are saltwater, the one in the garden flanked by the restaurants smaller and busier than the larger pool out front which is quieter. Both have bars next door to them and we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes to be served even at the busiest times. There are organised games if you want them badminton, darts, yoga etc. We weren't harassed, some places I've stayed at before I've felt like 'accidentally' knocking some pushy rep into the pool. This wasn't the case here, friendly and cheerful b

There's not much international chain hotels on the island of Rhodes and I came across this property as it was priced reasonably with breakfast included in my rate for the 1 night I needed. Location The property is located in the "new" part Rhodes/Rhodos - which is close to the main shopping area and restaurants/bar/cafe area. It is close to the harbour area and from there it is about a 15 mins walk to the old town of Rhodos. There are lots of parking options around the hotel - parking garage, street parking - both free or paid. The area around the hotel is not too busy (at least during the low season), so after around 10pm there's not too much disturbance from street traffic. Check In I arrived at the hotel around 1700hours and there was no other guests in the lobby/front desk area, so I was helped immediately. Check in was fast and efficient, and I was off to my room after approximately 10 mins. I was also provided a quick information about the breakfast facility and the bar/restaurant. As expected, without any status with the Best Western chain, I did not expect any upgrade. Room The room is located on the 3rd floor - accessed via the lift of the spiral stairs in the middle of the lobby. The elevator was on the smaller side - depending on the amount of bags and size, you might only be able to fit 2 persons with bags. There were 2 lifts available - which I think in the high season could be some wait. The room was located close to the end of one of the hallways - facing the main street. Size of the room was ok - for the price paid, I was fine with it (but I can imagine that in the summer season, with the high prices you might find it not so much value for your money). Room was basic and was showing a bit of it's age (strangely the exterior of the hotel seems to have been renovated). There was a balcony facing the main street with 2 chairs and table, which was well maintained. The main desk in the room acted as a TV stand, coffee/tea making area and working/vanity area. There was more than sufficient electrical outlets (all European plugs). The tea/coffee making items were in current times well packed inside a plastic bag (first time seeing this) and cups provided were paper instead of what I assume normally porcelain. There was a minibar, but it was kept empty. TV size was ok with the usual mix of international and local channels (although a number of the channels did not work - either not part of the subscription or no signal). Internet speed was good (login was via a code provided at check-in). Sleep quality was good - the bed was just right with sufficient pillows of different firmness. Interior noise was ok - although walls are on the thinner side (with the TV off) you can hear the room next door or along the hallway, but this was never an issue since the hotel's occupancy was low. Noise from the exterior (even with the balcony door closed) can be quite audible, but during my stay in this low season, it was not too

This is a super hotel within a ten minute walk of the walled city or half an hour taking the coast road. My husband and I stayed here for the first week of May. The hotel was quite quiet after the Easter bookings but we actually liked this. The rooms are well equipped and kept scrupulously clean by the housekeeping staff. The whole hotel’s cleanliness was excellent. Unfortunately I don’t know the names of the fantastic staff we came into contact with but I would like to thank the barman ( he enjoys running and has completed a marathon), He is unbelievably friendly while being super efficient. Hopefully sometime he’ll get to visit the whisky distilleries here in Scotland ; the whole of the dining room staff who work hard while making us very welcome and always smiling; the housekeeping staff who work tirelessly to keep the hotel looking immaculate; the chef and kitchen staff for our wonderful meals each day ; reception staff, especially the kind lady who welcomed us to the hotel late at night on 02/05 and last but not least the gentleman who works nights in reception, a wealth of information regarding the island and it’s history. This was our first time travelling since before the pandemic and loved every minute. Thank you to everyone for contributing to making our holiday a hugely enjoyable experience. We’ll be back!

We had to quickly reschedule our original trip to Crete due to covid19 and found this lovely place which is well worth the drive from Rhodes airport. The place was perfect for our family of 3 with a 21 and 19 year old in a two bedroom apartment. The place was spotless and George and the manager attentive to our every need. There is food and cocktail bar onsite and a selection of pools to chose from. Despite our party being late risers, there was always a sunbed free. A 5 minute walk at you are at the town square with many choices for food and drink. 10 minutes you are at the beach with yet more restaurants to chose from. We loved it here and it was the perfect chilled getaway for us.

The hotel is located just 2' walking distance from the beach and the Medieval City just 10-15'. Our room was clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. The best option for vacations in the city centre!

After 4 crazy days exploring Athens, we headed to our favourite hotel for some much needed rest and relaxation. We arrived early as our flight from Athens was changed to the first flight of the day, in fact we were the first guests of the season to arrive. Our welcome was as warm and friendly as always, with waves of recognition from the porters as we pulled up and smiles & greetings from the reception staff. Our check in process was simple and straightforward and Katerina the wonderful, crazily busy, Operations Manager came from her office to welcome us and escort us to our room, which was a surprise as we had been upgraded to one with an uninterrupted view of the sea, amazing, although every room we have stayed in is beautiful, and all have great views. You may have already gathered we love this hotel, it is beautiful, quiet, with great restaurants, and its own private beach, cared for by Stavros, Kostas and the very hard-working ground staff. This hardworking attitude is seen in all the hotel staff, and everyone is so friendly. We have visited so many times we now consider many of the staff to be friends and it was lovely to see them again, and to meet some lovely new staff too. Our first visit was to the Pool Bar to say hello to beautiful Voula who is so welcoming to guests and makes the most amazing cocktails. Even when she is very busy she is always smiling and has a friendly chat with guests as she serves them. She and her team, including Pavlo, a very polite and smart young man, work so very hard in all the hotel bars. We love breakfast each morning looking out at the glistening sea and being looked after by Elena & Maria who always remember exactly what we like to drink, they are so warm and welcoming and make sure every guest has everything they need in a very discreet, professional and friendly way. The Maître d’, Giannis is so welcoming and tries to learn every guest’s name so he can greet you personally when you meet around the hotel, a great skill! We also love to eat in the Pool Restaurants with Jani who runs the restaurant with so much enthusiasm and skill, with the most amazing smile that shows even through his mask, which all the staff still wear to protect the guests. Even though this was a relaxing break we did our first dive of the season with the dive school based in the hotel. Diving with Lee is always a pleasure, and he makes you feel safe and confident at all times. It was great to be joined by Julli, one of his new instructors for the season. She will be a great asset to the dive school. All in all this is a wonderful hotel if you are looking for a relaxing peaceful holiday. It is a long way from the busy holiday areas which for us is perfect, but with a car you can get out and about to see more of the beautiful Island of Rhodes. Roll-on October when we will visit again. I booked a holiday to Greece. I planned the trip down to the last detail including the COVID mandates with the assistance of my travel advisor from an agency called Blue Sea Holidays. I received invaluable advice from an experienced traveller who passed on all her encouragement to somebody whose dyspraxia means airports are difficult to navigate. She booked me assistance through the airport. It was at her reminder that my COVID letter arrived before I departed. I set forth to Gatwick with all my documentation in an old envelope. I took the shuttle bus to the North terminal. I arrived at the special assistance desk. It was clear they expected me. A member of staff guided me through all the security checks. I made it through to the ground floor. I was tempted by the shops. I replaced my old envelope with a fresh plastic one. I thought I had all my documentation. I believe that it was at that crucial moment I threw away my passport in the tattered old envelope. I was on my way to the plane when I realised, to my horror, that my passport was not with me. The staff conducted a search in the bins for my passport. It was nowhere to be found. I missed my flight. I remain indebted to Blue Sea holidays for their invaluable guidance. The advice of travel agents is a needed skill, particularly for those with severe dyspraxia who be daunted by the co-ordination needed for adventures like solo travel.

The hotel is a disaster. First day we arrived they placed us in the room 405. The room had nothing to do with the photos on the website. Shower had a curtain which hasn't been changed for YEARS! The curtain was supposed to be white but on the bottom the colour had turned into dark yellow!!!Just to mention a shower curtain cost 5 euros! When we tried to turn on the air condition it wasn't working so I called the reception. They tried to convince us that the air condition was OK as they didn't have any other complaints (strong argument) but I demanded to change room. In the new room (room 411) the controller of the air condition wasn't working so I took the initiative and went to the old room and exchange the controllers. Finally we had a room with air condition. The new room had a much better bathroom with shower screen (no yellow curtain) with a very dirty hair dryer that I believe it was last cleaned when the shower curtain was placed in the first room. We stayed there for 6 nights. They never changed the sheets and the towels, the never mopped the floor, actually the didn't provide any service a 4 star hotel is supposed to provide especially during covid times! The "cleaner" was just folding our towels and sheets so she was not actually cleaning but just increasing the risk of spreading covid as she was touching all the surfaces/sheets/towels of all rooms. Generally the hotel is not well maintained, it is very dirty and surely you can not call it boutique hotel as it has no style or nice decoration. It is more a 2 star hotel, not even 3 star and surely not a 4 star hotel! It could be a good hotel if the managers/owners cared enough. The only good thing is the location. Rhodes is beautiful so just pick another hotel!

Avalon is situated in possibly the best position for exploring the old town and the island, handy for walking, buses, car hire and the port. Breakfast is excellent and varies slightly day by day. Dont be in a rush though, it comes in stages so just eat and enjoy. We chose a superior suite but, whilst very comfortable, actually much of the space was redundant - a huge dining table but no cutlery or crockery for e.g. which we didnt discover until we brought back salads, meats and cheeses one evening after a long days boat trip, not feeling like going out again. I'm sure had we asked staff would have obliged, but there was no sign of anyone on duty. The bathroom looks great, but sadly it is quite impractical. The jacuzzi bath is nice, but if you just want a shower it is carnage! The shower head doesn't fit to the wall bracket and it sprays madly in all directions leaving a swamp in its wake! And dangerously slippy underfoot. Nice big comfortable bed, if a little low at only a couple of inches off the floor, but fine if you are reasonably agile. Not if your creaky bones need a little waking up in the morning! We're not that old by the way, in our 60s and fairly fit. All in all, a great place to stay but the owners could do with testing some of the facilities occasionally - like have a shower, or stay for a night in a room. As a holiday let operator myself, I do sleep a few times in my rooms out of season - you get a better idea of the client experience and if no-one tells you the shower is a disaster you'll never know!
