Your phones in the rooms don't work. They don't have panels with info on them, no way to ring front desk, restaurant, etc. Therefore, late arrivals that want food are stuck. Wifi in the room I stayed in didn't work, I think simply because I was in the far-away unit and the Wifi didn't reach that far. When I went to restaurant for a sit-down meal instead, I had to wait 41 minutes for food to arrive and then they forgot the side. Restaurant manager was apologetic, but that's not good if you're time pressured

Sadly looked at the Beachlife Apartment website and didn't investigate further through Trip Advisor. Just wanted to be by the ocean. Don't be fooled - this is not what it seems from their website! The place needs a total revamp or alternatively a wrecking ball through it! No maintenance has been done on this complex for ever by the looks!!! We had to traipse up stairs (no lift) with heavy luggage and the place was dark and filthy. When we got into our unit, admittedly it was spacious but that was about it! No-one was at reception and we had to call several times before anyone answered. It appears from other reviews that the staff are in hiding. (and we can understand why now!!) We were told we could use the laundry but had to get our own washing powder. One look at the laundry and the washing machines and we realised our clothes would definitely come out dirtier! This apartment had a kitchen and when we tried to cook a meal there were very limited utensils and of really bad quality. The rangehood looked unfinished (see photos) and when we went to use it, it tripped the fuse with a small explosion with a flash of light! We were so nervous about using it, we left the fuse unset! The only positive we can come up with was that the bed was not too bad in terms of comfort, however we did not look at the condition of the mattress (and now are quite we didn't, as we've just read the other reviews of the disgusting state of the mattresses!) :( :( There were so many issues I'll list them now: - Cupboard and door handles nearly falling off. - Kitchen tap loose and you needed two hands to hold it. - Vertical blinds - broken, missing slats. - No curtains - and the apartment was very cold. - Heat pump - didn't work well. Didn't warm the apartment up. No heaters provided. Had a very cold night! - Heat pump motor very noisy. Going off and on all night next to the bedroom, but so cold we had to put up with the noise to get minimal heat from it. - TV remote didn't work and could only get one channel. - Couch incredibly uncomfortable. - Window/door sills damaged and in bad need of repaint and repair (see photos). - No snib on ranchslider so couldn't lock it. Had to use the key to lock ourselves in. NOT a good health & safety issue. - Door from deck to outside hallway wouldn't close properly. - Lots of light bulbs missing and those that were there were very dim and various tones and colours! - Absolutely no instructions anywhere for anything.... including TV/DVD player/DISH TV/ heat pump or general info and contact details you normally get in a hotel/apartment situation. - Power point in kitchen didn't work. - Facecloths were very discoloured and stained. Looked dirty and soiled (see photo) - Gouges and scratches throughout the apartment paintwork (see photos) - Waste missing out of vanity. - Shower handle so loose, that when you go to turn the shower on - it falls off!! (see photo) - Bracket for shower rose not attached at the

We needed somewhere to stay for a week or so while our dog Cooper who went through treatment at Rangiora Vet Centre. Pet-friendly was first priority. Not only did Maree and Stewart shuffle bookings to ensure an easily accessible room on the ground floor, for our whole stay, but they made us all feel welcome during what was a hard time - especially for Cooper. The motel is everything you read in the owners description, but I’ll also highlight the easy access to the Motorway (and Rangiora Vet Centre) as well as Northwood and Northland malls with New World, Countdown and any other shops you might want. Also, Costas Greek Taverna is a 10 minute walk, and the food is excellent. The setting is relaxing, with plantings in front of the rooms. Our room is spacious, and so clean, you wouldn’t know it was pet friendly. A heat pump provides cooling and heating, but wasn’t really needed during the summer. The room is so tidy, and has everything you need - and it all works! Best of all, the beds are so comfortable I tracked down the manufacturer and ordered one for my own bedroom. We book ahead to be sure to have our usual room each time we are back for follow up treatment - it’s reassuring to know our room will be there with everything we need, just as we like it. I will come back here whenever I need to stay in Christchurch.

We had a great stay. We were upgraded to a three bedroomed suite which was perfect. The suite was really spacious and had everything we needed. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly too. Went to the dinner buffet at the restaurant. Came out way too full! The selection was wonderful and the service was great. The food was done very well especially the roasted pork ribs. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend especially if you have a family.

2 large and 1 small, very suitable motel, small bed in the living room. The kitchen can be simply cooked, with salt and pepper and cutlery, not far from the supermarket and Mall, in front of the main road, shopping for food, the room is very clean, the boss is Chinese, very nice, anxious to forget to bring the adapter Lend us one, I want to buy it when I go, she gave it directly to us, and the return journey from Christchurch, it would be OK to go down the road. TV can also watch Netflix (movie)

1. This is a B&B hotel. Unlike the general hotel, the owner of the store, the two partners, take care of the hotel in person, and make the guests feel like they are at home. Especially the breakfast is sitting around a rectangular table, the owner is baking bread for everyone, tea or coffee. Although everyone did not know each other, they soon became familiar with it, chatting and chatting, chatting about the places they visited and sharing experiences. The atmosphere is very good and I like it very much. 2. There is a Malay Chinese in the host, very young, very enthusiastic and talkative. Chinese tourists will be more convenient. 3. The hotel is in a good location, about 15 minutes walking distance to the city center. It is convenient to visit the main attractions in the city. 4. The fly in the ointment is that because it is an old house, the room layout is limited, the room is relatively small, and may not be used to Chinese tourists who are used to big houses. In addition, Chinese tourists who are not good at English may not be able to adapt to this environment.

We stayed 5 days over Christmas 2019 in a two room suite and enjoyed ourselves. The hosts were friendly and were always picking things up, keeping the whole place immaculate. There is a laundry which I took advantage of. Quite a few families there and their children played with scooters and ride-on toys in the central parking area. Plenty of parking too. The whole place was surprisingly quiet and I think the hosts kept an eye on anything which might become noisy.

Beautiful and quiet courtyard, complete kitchen facilities, and convenient living around. Especially the Korean bosses are warm and kind and responsible for their work. One day, my husband answered the phone in the yard, accidentally put his bag on the stool in the yard and left. Our passports, ID cards and other important things were all inside. Twenty minutes later, we found out that the bag was gone, and we were in a hurry. When the domestic epidemic was tense and international flights were cancelled again, we would be unable to move without a passport. We told the Korean boss about this, he asked about the situation, let us not worry. Ten minutes later, he delivered the bag to our room. There were a lot of passports and cash in the bag. We are very fortunate to book this hotel, and met this honest and kind Korean owner, who is away from home, this hotel is trustworthy. Call the owner!

We took a gamble with this motel as the rate was really low and reviews weren't exactly wonderful. However, the gamble paid off as we were pleasantly surprised just how good it was. It's an older-style motel, but location is handy to the city and other suburbs, while the room itself was spacious, well-equipped and really comfortable. It would be ideal for someone willing to stay longer than a night or two, as the room had a full stove and microwave, with kitchenware to match. It even had a separate toilet - unusual these days. The only negative was that all the walls could have been lots cleaner, as could the motel office itself, both minor details and easy to remedy. Yes, we'll be back.

Excellent stay, after a mishap the owners and staff were more than accommodating us with changes due to my error and missing the ferry the previous day. The unit was spacious and spotless and everything needed. Loved the Netflix and recliners after a busy day sightseeing and travelling. Rebecca was ever so friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The unit had parking right outside and even a little area for a quiet relax time outside. Breakfast was available if needed and I was even given some extra milk when asked at check in as I’m a huge coffee drinker. Only downside is we only got to stay the one night instead of two as previously mentioned due to missing the ferry and getting my dates mixed up. Thanks and will definitely be back if visiting Christchurch again in the future.

We stayed here for a few nights. Check in was easy and the host was friendly and very helpful. We stayed in the spa unit. This had a separate bedroom (with tv) and a spacious lounge and dining area. Sky tv in the lounge was a plus. There was a microwave for cooking and a toaster in the kitchen area. The motel is at the Papanui Road end of Bealey Ave so is close to the ****** and plenty of eating venues. If you come from the airport, you have to loop around the block to Columbo Street as there is no u turn allowed at Durham Street.

I arrived late this afternoon (5.40pm) at the jailhouse only to see a sign saying no checking in between 1pm and 6pm. I found that rather strange but asked a couple of people sat on the chairs near by what the deal was. They said there would be someone there to check them in at 6pm. I had just traveled from Wanaka (5/6 hours) with my two year old and he was tired and we wanted to get our stuff in our room and get settled after a long drive. I joked to the male and female and said "they've got it easy with a 5 hour break" when I returned at about 7pm after dinner it turns out the female who I was speaking to previously was the one that could have checked us in. I found this rather strange and feel she should have checked us in. She said "I don't get paid for this" or words to that effect. She obviously works for accommodation but she's representing this backpackers and I found her lack of care to be bad. I then asked if the room was available for two nights instead of one and she said $88, paid $66 online to which she seemed a little funny about. Overall the check in experience wasn't welcoming at all and she was awkward to say the least. It's a quirky place with it being an old jail and it's also clean but she needs to work on her hospo and ppl skills.

We stayed here for 3 nights in a caravan. Staff had left a diagram mud map which isn’t 100% right, for us as we arrived after 5.30pm. We later found we’d been put in a storage site and receptionist apologised and offered to place us in another place but due to having to move we stayed put. The facilities were very clean but the noise from Johnson Rd the motorway and a road behind and the planes made it very noisey. The old part was quite tidy but no uniform approach to the grounds, no car park signs etc and when one is towing a tandem caravan that makes it a bit hot under the collar. This was once a lovely caravan park in the past. Having permanent people their in some very shabby caravans didn’t add to the appeal. But at night it was quiet and it was clean and they offer plenty of types of accommodation option’s if you can find them. Friendly staff.

We booked for one night between Christmas and New Years Eve for a family staycation. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hotel is in a great location with easy walking to restaurants, bars, shops and nearby New Regent Street. The hotel and its rooms are beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches and utter charm. Having requested a roll out bed for our 7 year old, it was such a sweet surprise to discover it made up with whimsical children’s bedding complete with fluffy blanket and soft toys. Reasonably priced, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique stay in the heart of Christchurch’s CBD.

Excellent location and safe parking. Very very helpful manager - William. He was amazing! Its my home away from home. If there's one thing about William is honesty. We returned to Auckland and didn't even know that my eldest daughter Beat Headphone were missing, worth $430. It was rose-gold with white trimmings. William called two weeks later to inform us that he had found it, and had been trying to contact me. That's honesty and integrity at its best.

I really wish I’d done better research and not just relied on the third-party booking app. We booked a family “suite” for 1 night - which unexpectedly turned into 2 due to weather issues - for a family of 4. Immediately upon checking in we saw a few colourful characters in the parking lot but dismissed our unease as a one-off. Our room was on the 2nd level, rundown with incomplete repairs/renos, a bathroom sink with TWO faucets (so you had to alternatively splash your face with scalding hot and ice-cold water when washing up), and ZERO insulation from noise. We were awakened multiple times thru the night by loud, inebriated guests returning to their rooms well after 2am, and police sirens which woke and frightened our youngest. Is it affordable? Sure. But not in a “wow, I scored a great deal!” kind of way - more like, you get exactly what you pay for. Even less, one could argue. I’m not a fan of writing negative reviews but I want to warn away other families from making the same mistake we did.

I had a couple of single night stays here on my recent trip. It is very convenient for exploring the Christchurch CBD. Receptionists were very helpful and friendly although it took me a while to understand that she was saying I could buy a "voucher" for breakfast at the cafe next door and not "water". Room had all the facilities required and there are both a small convenience store and a liquor store in the junction area for any extras needed. Took a while to get used to the noise of trams going through but these stop running early enough to get a good night's sleep. Suspect the junction area may be a bit noisier in non-Covid times.

Very friendly reception staff - I was leaving very early the next morning and that was no bother. Close to and easy access to Christchurch airport. Supermarket and restaurants just down the road made for a nice walk after a day's driving. Room was very comfortable - good sound proofing, did not hear the main road at all. Nice modern bathroom. I didn't use the kitchenette, or the heat pump (but appreciated that there was a heat pump if needed). Great value for money.

Aside from its location - a few minutes walk directly south of the main entertainment precinct, with its external signage clearly visible from the now-fabled Pink Lady rooftop bar (a must on the verge of dusk on a clear night) - Quest on M has a feeling of freshness and spaciousness, not to mention peace and quiet. Though following the familiar format of the Quest chain, the first-floor studio that I was given was easily the best hotel room that I've experienced in a long while (and excellent value for money). Staff here are the kind of folks that you always hope to find in a hotel: friendly, and professional, completely down-to-earth. I found Quest a perfect base in my ongoing, unfortunately sporadic, engagement with a favorite city - and my quest to understand and appreciate more of Christchurch's remarkable re-emergence. I hope to come back again and again.

We had initially booked to stay but due to Covid-19 had to cancel. We emailed the manager to explain what was happening and that we would be down as soon as able - the manager was great - she accommodated us quickly and transferred our booking to suit our travel dates. That made the trip hassle free knowing all was ok. The hotel is located about 4km from the CBD but if you're up for a walk then going through Hagley park is a must, otherwise Uber were plentiful an no difficulty finding the hotel. The hotel is exactly how you see as advertised, our room was generous - it had a small balcony with seating; all coffee/tea facilities, clean and tidy bathroom and relatively quiet considering it was on a main road.
