0.31km from Sunny Seafood RestaurantOriginally we were booked to stay for 4 nights, however the hotel we were in (Chaweng) was hideous to say the least. Aumpai were happy to take us a day early. We were greeted by Nok at reception who was lovely and spoke reasonable english. Check in was a simple process and we were lead to our pool view room. Out front of our room was a large balcony / outdoor area. The tiles felt really clean underfoot and there was a large table, two chairs and a clothes rack (would easily hold a half load of washing). I cannot begin to express how clean the room was! I suspect we could have eaten off the floor. The room was much larger than expected with a big bed (a little too firm for our liking but the linen was very clean) and a massive window that again was spotless - if it was a glass door you would have walked into it every time. There were also two large chairs to sit on. The flat screen TV was more than big enough, however there was only one movie channel (HBO) which showed movies that were on repeat mode every two days. The bathroom was also very clean, with a defined shower area, vanity with a large sink and a toilet that came with a small table. At the rear was an enormous kitchen, providing a lot of bench space and storage. Given it's size you would expect a hot plate or an electric frypan, sadly though there was only a microwave, tea/coffee facilities and a couple of plates & basic cutlery. We did find out later that you can borrow an electric frypan from reception for a small deposit. We also noted that no dish liquid, sponges or tea towels were provided so there is no way to clean up after yourself (something that we pride ourselves on). All the staff were lovely. The cleaners did an awesome job and weren't invasive at all. The location was great. A small walk down a side street and you are on the main strip of Lamai with bars & restaurants to choose from. There are food carts about 5 mins walk up the road that come to life in the evening which I strongly suggest you try. Though so close to everything, the hotel itself is quiet and peaceful. One of the restaurants nearby has a live band, but even with the TV off and no one around you could only barely hear it - with your door shut and in bed you couldn't hear it at all. Wifi dropped out a few times, but on the whole was good. The pool was great and big enough to do laps (if you're into that sort of thing while on holiday). There is no bar or restaurant on site, but with all the range on offer in the area it's not a problem. I would recommend this hotel to singles, couples, groups and families alike.
