We stayed for 2 nights, room on the fifth floor including breakfast. Good location, short walk to the old town, cathedral and Christmas market. We also walked to the railway station and used the metro. Bed was comfortable, room was quiet. Kettle and aircon. Breakfast was good. We would stay again.

Location is excellent, walking distance to every touristic spot. Also walking distance from Eurostar. The room was basic but as we expected. Staff was nice and room was clean. However when we arrive the room was smelling like someone was smoking inside before. We opened the windows and the smell gone when we were back, but it was not nice. Quite noisy, we could heard all the doors closing/opening.

All went perfectly, except that it toke us a lot of time to find the bell to open the parking door when leaving the parking. Other guests have the same problem. The bell is on the left wall at the bottom of the exit ramp, unreachable from your car at the top of the exit ramp. The room has four big windows, a perfect not too soft, not too hard bed, a little bar with a few free soft drinks, ... As always in Mercure hotels: they have a way to hide the button / outlet / ... for the coffee machine :-) We didn't find how to start the coffee machine. Hint: ask a reduction for the coffee machine you cannot use!

This hotel is in a very old building on an ugly street with traffic. A facade has been placed on the front exterior to make the hotel appear new in photos. It has a bad old sewer odour in the halls which they mask with fresheners. The rooms are nicely renovated with mid century modern aesthetic. The bathrooms have a sliding glass door that you can see through. This was totally bizarre as you have no privacy to sit on the toilet. If you are a tourist; you will be disappointed. This hotel is a good fit for a solo business traveller. The staff were wonderful, especially Yvan who was so kind to help us when our rental car broke down. His English was excellent and he was a pleasure.

Stayed at the Moxy for 4 nights, with a friend. We were both impressed with the room, and cleanliness. The beds were very comfy, and made up each day. The shower and fittings were of a high standard, overall ideal for our needs. The layout of the grounds and the front were impressive, nicely set from road, with lots of outside seating for day or evening drinks. The staff were extremely friendly and help. Very close to the city centre, and metro station. The only issue we found was the combination of checking in, which was stationed alongside the bar and dining area. This made it challenging for the staff with competing jobs, who tried their best to manage the busy stations. Maybe rethink the check-in area, as this requires separate attention and would makes more sense for the customers 🤔

Had an enjoyable stay at this hotel in a twin room with a friend for 2 nights. Was initially a bit disappointed as it looked grander in the photos but all the important things were right. Beds were comfortable, the maids cleaned effectively, TV worked, we didn't ask for much from reception but they were helpful when we did. The location is good for the stations. The view from the room window of the church was really quite impressive. They could do with a bit of a refurb, new curtains on the stairs and a refresh on the painting.

The hotel is very new. But it doesn't feel like a five-star hotel, it's more like a high-end business fast. Lille has fewer star-rated hotels, and Baliari is a good choice. The location is very good, 3 minutes from the railway station, and there are large commercial plazas nearby. There is also a park opposite the hotel where you can jog in the morning. Not many choices for breakfast. Overall, it is satisfactory

The place was quite low-key, a few steps from Gare Lille Flandres (which was the reason I picked it in first place). The hotel is not the newest one, and the interiors are tired. The staff spoke English, I was checked in no problem and was given advice around town. What surprised me is that the room was much less tired than corridors. The worst part was the tiny shower, which was fit so snugly into the bathroom that I think if I were a few kilos heavier, I might not have made it. The bedroom was actually comfortable and I had a very nice sleep. The soundproof was not the best though. The breakfast was included into the price and it was alright (well, ibis Budget in Krakow fared better in this aspect, but the Premiere Classe Lille Centre's breakfast it was ok to survive till lunchtime). I do not recommend this place for the people with mobility issues.

The location is brilliant. A couple of minutes to the centre of Lille. The beds are incredibly uncomfortable and very small, but of course this is subjective so others may not agree. The cleanliness of the hotel is debatable. There is a strange smell throughout the hotel of toilets - most noticeable on the ground floor where reception is. The rooms are very basic and fine for a couple of nights but no longer. 10 minute walk to the Eurostar. Despite being in a busy location it was quiet at night. Could do with a kettle and tea/coffee in the room as you need it after sleeping in such an uncomfortable bed! Overall fine for 2 nights - you get what you pay for. I wouldn't come back though.

Stayed here for almost a week and had different expectations. Cleaning is done by 1800 which is a bit late if you're here for work and finish around that time, not really cleaned and cannot walk feet free as the floor is never properly cleaned, towels are a bit old and ripped easily while drying. Reception-except the night team and the morning lady, was all really awkward and didn't make me feel fully welcome(reason why i changed hotel and moved to another one close by). Room-was a bit small for Lille standards. Breakfast-it was not the same everyday, days where it was good and other where it was average,Lots of choices except Salmon.

What more do I need to say? 28 stays - and the next one is booked! The hotel is so lovely - a historic building, easy walking distance from the Eurostar station. The hotel feels more like a cross between a hotel and a hostel, and has many good points but also some reservations. It’s modern and clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The reception and communal area has a kitchen available for use, plus reception can sell you hot drinks and very limited food. The decor is fresh and “urban”, overall a nice change from most hotels. The rooms are all accessed via external stairs and walkways, plus there is ample free parking for the hotel. Recycling and other environmental actions are encouraged. The rooms are very basic and very small. The en-suite bathrooms are the width of a standard shower, so very little room in front of the sink. Fine for an overnight stay, but not great if you are planning to stay longer. Extra towels, use of TV, and several other features that are generally inclusive, are charged extra in this hotel. The location is good if you need to park a car, but not great for the city centre. There is no nearby public transport, but taxi rides (Uber in our case) are around €10. So a great concept, but if you are planning on spending most of your time in Lille then it may be worth spending extra and staying in the city centre.

This hotel was just great. Good staff very helpful. Perfect size room for b & b all clean. Lifts to all floors. Self service breakfast superb bread, croissants, cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon , yogs, fruit, coffee and juice. Can order takeaway to eat at the hotel. Keep plenty of spares of all sorts. You do need to be a good walker unless you use the metro or buses, it’s approx 25 mins from the main town centre but it is a nice walk and all on the flat. 9 mins from the Eurostar station. Highly recommend.

Originally thought that the so-called kitchen only microwave oven, I did not expect the pots and pans are very complete, even the dishwasher has it. The room is also very spacious. Next door is the eurollille shopping plaza, and the first floor is Carrefour. If you bring your family together, it is not more suitable. Lille is small and it takes a few minutes to walk to the old town. The crown holiday that moved to the company the next day was more than 1,000, and it was really not much worse. Breakfast Citadines is the kind of self-help type of Youth Hostel, 11 Euro is not recommended.

I booked a room for two days with credit card. I was informed that this is a non refundable deal - it was ok with me. My risk. Arriving the hotel, the lady on the reception was the same from the phone...she was friendly. Entering the floor you got a feeling as in a thriller movie...lights were flickering, dirty carpet and walls and a really cheap smell in the air. Entering the room - same influence...The floor in the bathroom was an undulating ground, everything was pretty old and cheap smell all around the room. I decide to change the hotel, but not to cancel - I paid already - so, my choice to change the hotel...I could even sleep in front of the hotel on the street...I paid the room it can be just used by myself. I decided to use the parking place, because it is difficult to find a parking place in Lille and anyway, I paid already the bill. All this information I gave an another lady on the reception. After two days I gave back the remote control for the garage gate. I was wondering why my number key was not valid. Someone let me in the hotel...I went up to my room...number key was also not valid. A room maid opened the door and for my surprise the bed was used. A man came out of the bathroom, a little bit wondering about why I was in my/his room. I went down to the reception and asked them why they rent the room twice - it is forbidden to do that. They didn't agree with me, specially the manager Aurelien do not agree. I left the hotel and took the remote control with me. Till today I didn't get back my money. They took 70€ for the remote control from my credit card...congratulations, now you have finally a new, not any longer broken remote control. To all the people out there...there are nice hotels in Lille, but never, never go to this hotel...all around the hotel are drunken and drugged people, sex shops etc...and with a hotel manager that is renting rooms twice even if you have paid it!

One woman in particular was very nice and welcoming, but her colleague (black African guy) clearly didn't want to be there, and needs some customer service training. I had to change rooms twice. First time, there was food all over the seats, hairs on the bed etc - Covid secure? Not a chance. Second, the bathroom reeked of cigarette smoke - someone was obviously smoking in there. bSo the third room I entered also had hairs all over the bed and in the bathtub, but I was too tired to complain. Bed was comfy after cleaning the hairsaway. Also, one of the lights was broken near the toilet. Air con didn't work either. Wouldn't come back.

From booking onwards I was impressed with the lovely staff I dealt with, they were all really helpful and friendly. The location is perfect for access by car with its secure car park, far enough out of town to be easy to drive to but stil within easy walking distance of the main square. There are also loads of bars, restaurants and supermarkets nearby - don't miss the huge outdoor market on a Sunday morning at Wazemmes, just 10 mins away on foot. The bed was comfortable and the room was spotless. Arrived late on a Sunday evening and was checked in quickly by the night staff. As an Accor gold member, I was offered a free bottle of beer as my complementary welcome drink (the bar was closed). The location of the hotel is excellent, both for car parking but also visiting the sites, bars and restaurants that Lille has to offer. WiFi worked well. I didn’t eat breakfast in the hotel. One big issue was the lack of functioning air conditioning, which was problematic given the prolonged period of hot weather (daily 35C+) in France during my stay. I appreciate Mercure isn’t a luxury brand and this is an old building, but decent air con at night is a must in four star hotel in summer. I changed room and was given an upgrade to a first floor mini suite, which had an excellent view but wasn’t much cooler. It was an uncomfortable night’s sleep. The only redeeming feature was that my original privilege room and the suite have free soft drinks (including Evian) in the mini bar. I will avoid this hotel in the summer.

We spent our holiday in the junior suite. We were lucky to be there in lovely weather so we could enjoy the luxury of the spacious terrace. The room was large too, and well equipped. All the amenities were present except ironing facilities. The minibar was replenished daily and all the contents of it were really free. The only disappointing discomfort was that the minibar was definitely not cool enough. Especially as we were there during a heat wave. The room temperature was OK thanks to the powerful but silent airco. Street noise did not enter the room, nor sounds from the adjacent room. We had comfortable nights in Why hotel. The bedding was excellent. So was the cleaning. We appreciated the offer of greening up, which meant that we kept our towels during our stay in order to improve ecological footprint. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was varied and ample. The location of the hotel was close to the Place Rihour and the beautiful Grand Place of Lille. Public transport was nearby, cheap and efficient. We had rented a parking place of the hotel in a secured parking garage close to the hotel, but we did most of our trips by metro for instance to Roubaix and Tourcoing. We had one of our best holiday experiences in Why hotel. Whole heartedly recommended!

Great location in centre of Lille. Room newly renovated and spotlessly clean. Was very quiet with no noise from street or corridor. Second bed in room was a sofa bed but still very comfortable. Bar was really good for a late night drink before bed. Large public car park a couple of minutes away (parking - Nouveau Siècle). The only downside was breakfast. In hindsight we should have taken them up on the offer of room service breakfast. The buffet was run down well before end of service - e.g on Saturday bacon was gone by 9.50 and not restocked despite breakfast ending 10.30 and staff periodically looking at the empty dishes. Sunday we went earlier but was still a bit hit and miss. The various warnings placed around the hotel (including on the beds) advising you to go to breakfast super early were not conducive to a relaxed weekend away. Not critical - but takes the shine off an otherwise good hotel. In a 4* hotel I hope to have breakfast when I choose not when the hotel wants me to! Would happily stay in the hotel again but probably skip the breakfast.

The area which the hotel is located in is an interesting mixture of part run down and part brand new buildings. The nearest underground station is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel building itself is nice, especially the inside bit. Staff are friendly. (Comfort) room is small but well equipped, there’s even a coffee machine for your convenience. One evening there was a very putrid smell lingering on for a few hours, that wasn’t so nice. There was one big issue though. By check in they looked me dead in the eye and told me that there would be no housekeeping whatsoever. Niks. Nada. Nothing at all. Apparently that’s a directive from the French government (!?) because of COVID you see. Now I found nothing about said directive online and I have not experienced such thing in hotels as recently as last week; what I did find was that it is now Best Western’s very own policy these days. (So aforesaid excuse sounds very much like corporate bs to me.) Now I don’t know about you, but under the current circumstances I hoped they’d ramp up their cleaning policies instead of abandoning them completely. I hope they did find a way to clean the room after the previous guest before me, all they have to do is implement that process on a daily basis. If I wanted to take down garbage and make up the bed myself, I wouldn’t pay top dollar for a hotel room. Doctors and nurses must find a way to keep themselves and us safe in a much more exposed environment so a hotel should find a way too, especially because their business is depending on the cash we guests bring in.
