I don’t read Japanese but I do read Chinese, so I was able to understand perhaps 50% of written Japanese with the help of Kanji. During breakfast (free of charge buffet breakfast), I looked around the dining lobby and discovered a lot of signs showing that this hotel spent a lot of effort in researching how to make people sleep better. I really slept so well during the three nights of stay here. It was even better than the bed at my home! My mum and I could fall asleep within three minutes into bed all three nights! The buffet breakfast is of good quality too. The dishes were changed everyday. And it was truly completely free of charge. Bikes are available for borrowing. Sadly I didn’t get the time to cycle around Tottori, but it is for sure a city suitable for cycling around, because there were not many people on the streets. I guess I won’t return to Tottori in the near future, but if I do, I am more than willing to come back to this hotel!

A great youth hostel, it is the operating model of the cafe. Breakfast is 300 yen, a salad, self-service toast, self-service juice coffee, very cost-effective. I originally thought it was a bunk with capsules, but it turned out to be a single-layer bed. There is a short distance between the two sides of the bed to put things on. The space is quite enough, and you can even stand in this single room. One part of the shower room is for men and women, and the other is for girls, so if there are too many people in the shower room, you may have to line up. Fortunately, the occupancy rate was not high on the day I stayed. When the coffee shop is open, there is a good sale of western food and light meals. When I came back at noon, I found that the guests were welcoming. It seemed to have a good reputation among the locals. After closing, this area will serve as a public space for hostel residents. The front desk is not 24 hours, and it will be off work after 22:30, so it would be miserable if you didn't bring the key card to go out and enter. It is a 5-minute walk from Tottori Station and opposite the North Exit Long-distance Bus Station. The surrounding restaurants, Aeon, and convenience stores are also complete, making it a very convenient place. I stayed in Tottori for a day and it was raining heavily, and I hardly played anything, so next time I come to Tottori, I still plan to live here.

It’s really clean and comfortable for backpackers, but it’s really not recommended for Chinese people who are used to having personal space... There are ten beds in a room, although the templates are separated but a bit like (coffin...) Was woken up in the middle of the night with a man... I don’t really feel safe.

We stayed here for five nights during our train travels in and around the area. Room was roomy and comfortable, location convenient to train station and eateries. I especially enjoyed using the spa with onsen and massage chair, though I could have used a lesson on how to use it. The daily breakfast buffet for an additional $5 pp./day, was the best thing about staying here. Lots of choices of high-quality dishes, both Asian and Western items, Fresh and well prepared food. I enjoyed trying different specialities over four mornings -- we got off to an energizing start. You never get bored with this breakfast. Staff in the dining area were friendly and helpful. Many hotels in other cities we visited offered a less impressive breakfast buffet for $25 pp, which we passed on. But this one exceeded our expectations, especially for the price. Thanks to the hotel for offering a wonderful room and breakfast value!

About 3 minutes from Tottori Station by foot , close to some good restaurants, coffee and convenient stores. It is15 minutes from the Airport and 20 minutes to the Dunes and has a large carpark for those using this as a start of place to visit the area. The Hotel is old style 70s but well kept and clean. Rooms are larger than usual for Japan and are comfortable and very clean. Staff are very helpful and patient with info and whatever they can do to make your visit good ! Had a excellent meal of Tottori Wagyu at their restaurant on the top floor. Will be happy to return to this hotel .

Recently opened hotel for the businessman or local tourist with basic usual amenities like coin laundry, small public bath . Overnight paid parking is available for 600Y . Some rooms don’t have any views but they had extra different type of pillows available on each level should you require one. What I like Their drip coffee and dimbula tea is pretty decent You can check your laundry wash status via room tv , showing which washer is available or washing time left to complete “Big” room considering japan room size especially those in big city Quite close to the train station A short drive away from the Sand dunes There is a jap restaurant just a corner away that seems to be popular, was packed when I walked passed. Dislike The use of grey in the hotel, make it dull and gloomy. It is easier for them to maintain since stain will be less visible especially after 5-10 years of operations.

There are two Super hotels in town. One at the busy city side of the station and one on the opposite quiet side of the station. I choose the quiet one on the south side (Tottori Ekimae) and it proved to be a good choice. The room was more or less Super hotel standard with all amenities including a free and extensive breakfast buffet. However what was additionally pleasant at this particular Super hotel was the lobby/breakfast room itself which gave you a special feeling because of its furnishing with the looks of natural wood and plants. I never saw this in any Super hotel and it really gives you a homely feeling. Very special. Also the staff was super friendly. When I waited for about an hour to get myself access to my room (being cleaned)they presented me with an ice-cream. When in town again sometime in the future I will definitely opt for this very enjoyable Super hotel.

Location: Tottori Station is 200 meters away from the left hand side. It is too close. For those who come to Tottori for the first time, it is really convenient. The bus to the sand dune is at the entrance of Tottori Station. Front desk: No Chinese service, English service, but there is a translator at the front desk to communicate freely. Handling: With Ctrip's reservation form, the passport can be processed quickly, and the baggage can be stored free of charge. Room: I am a big one and a small one waiting for the small bed room. There is no difficulty in opening the two suitcases in the room. The facilities are not new but very clean. The bathroom is a one-piece design, separated from the bathroom shower curtain. Toiletries are fully furnished. very satisfied

The location is perfect- minutes from the train station. Breakfast was terrific and included. My only problem with the hotel is their funky key system. They give you one key which has to be placed inside the room in order to turn on the lights, but also to turn on electricity for the room. So this turned out to be pretty inconvenient if your spouse likes to go to bed early because he had to have the key in order to have electricity in the room. So we had to rig the door so I could get in (place a cardboard so wouldn't lock) Seems kind of silly. Also can't leave things to charge when not inroom-no electricity! Our friend found a way to rig something in slot so he could take the key-but again seems kind of silly. I don't know if all Toyoko Inns have this system. We ended up joining because it's a lifelong membership and it saved us a little money. I hope they don't all use this system because otherwise I really liked the hotel. They had hot water and tea in lobby, free pajamas, tables and chairs to sit around in.

It's great to visit Ryokan, but not many are close to the main train station. Ryokan Marumo is only 5 mins walk from Tottori Station. You'll find post office, convenience stores, shopping malls nearby Tottori Station, there is also express bus and train going to Kobe, Osaka areas so if you are looking for a Ryokan Style accommodation while in Tottori, I think this one is worth recommending. The staffs are very friendly and provide good service. If I have to include some downsides: Onsen was a bit too hot for me, however it may be otherwise pleasant for others.

We were at this hotel a few days before Christmas, Dec. 2019. We are a couple, and our friend had booked it for us. (She was also traveling with us.) One of the tricks to traveling light in Japan, is to take a day (or 2 day) pack, and send your luggage onto a facility a few days out. That allows one to take advantage of the wonderful public transportation, without lugging bags. In this case, we sent our luggage onto the Osaka (KIK) airport. At KIK, we were arriving late, and staying at the relatively new Cabin Hotel. (Check my review there, as well.) When we arrived at the Cabin Hotel, the luggage was not there. Our friend had gone onto Kyoto. The people at the desk had minimal English, and I had minimal Japanese. We did use Google translate to do more communicating, and they truly had not seen our luggage. The situation was a tad desperate. I had my phone lifted in Osaka. (It is unusual, and there are many things you can do to retrieve lost property in Japan - but it was truly lifted, something that can happen in Osaka.) The Cabin Hotel splits the women and men, and it is made for travelers. You're isolated once you go back to your "room", but I had to go. I was exhausted and we had a flight in the morning. My husband contacted our friend in Kyoto, and also went to bed. I also could not figure out >how< the luggage would get back to the US, as you have to be with your luggage for customs. Some crazy (and expensive) scenario played out in my brain, something like, our friend would find it, go through it, ship it to the US? Waking up in the morning, I go to "bath", and come back and there is a note on my bed. "Please come out. There is someone to see you." I pack up quickly and come out. It is Christmas morning, and there are two Japanese men waiting for me, and my husband. One of the men was Fumio Kotani, the President and CEO of the hotel. It becomes clear that our friend called the hotel (who shipped it), and they were so concerned they DROVE ALL THE WAY TO THE AIRPORT. Honestly, I started crying. I could not believe that anyone would be so kind, and worried about my luggage. Our luggage WAS at the airport, but it was at the baggage service, and not at the hotel. As far as I know, it was a small mix-up, but big when no one knows where the luggage was! So here is my review. The hotel is also wonderful, but I feel like other people have probably covered that! My friend liked to go out and back to the hotel, and they were always obliging taking and picking us up. I felt like we were taking advantage sometimes, but if you need it (rain or late), don't hesitate to ask.

This ryokan is run by an affectionate husband & wife team of Hideaki-San & Kumiko-San. Our friends who stayed here about 4 years ago highly recommended it. We noted that the ryokan is only a few minutes walk from the JR Hanamura station but our group had a rental car. On Goggle map, the location listed the ryokan by its previous name of Hanamura View hotel. It is very traditional Japanese ryokan and we saw mainly local Japanese guests there. Kumiko spoke a bit more English than her husband and both were extremely helpful, carrying our luggages from the car and to the room. They also recommend places to visit and to have lunch and even gave us complimentary vouchers to the Uradome boat ride. The room was comfortable and spacious with bath and toilet, fairly well equipped with the usual amenities. One of our friends booked the Japanese room with western beds. Breakfast was traditional Japanese buffet and had a wide variety of Tottori seasonal vegetables and seafood. As it was off season for the famous Matsuba crabs, we had a variety of seasonal fish. Similarly the kaiseki dinner also comprise seasonal ingredients and was very substantial for the ¥9000 per person we paid for room, breakfast & dinner. We had a different menu for the two nights there. Service extended by Hideaki and Kumiko was par excellence. They even performed a traditional Tottori dance for us with the husband on the shamisen while the wife danced. Very delightful performance. Our group of 5 had a wonderful 2 nights stay at Ryofuan. We highly recommend this ryokan.

We stayed here for two nights to enjoy Tottori. We immediately had the feeling that not many english speeking foreigner come here, but this could just be us. - location: the hotel is close to tottori station which is very good for travellers to take a bus or train to get around. - Room: the room was very spacious. Ours was a mix of old western hotels and with some Japanese elements. It looked a bit dated, but they normally do have more updated rooms if necessary. - Service: the staff was very friendly and they did their best to speak English. - Breakfast: breakfast was more basic then i expected, but still good. I actually want to recommend the vending machines at the entrance of the spa. They have a lot of options in the machines, which we didn't have in other hotels. TIP: try the ice cream and milk in their vending machines (milk from the area) if its still available. There is also a small shop with local products. Overall good hotel that offers comfortable spacious rooms for a good price.
