Very well located near the beaches and the city centre, but in a quiet location. The room was clean and comfortable, offering tea and coffee. There's cooked breakfast available (full English breakfast and porridge) as well as continental breakfast buffet. The eating area has a very nice view to the sea. The staff was nice and welcoming. The only downfalls were the curtains, which didn't cover the light in the morning, and the smell of fried food in the room before breakfast.

We stopped in the Membly Hotel to take advantage of their off-street parking and sea views. We had a premium sea-view room on the first floor with great views of Gyllgvase Beach. The room itself was adequate and clean although the bed wasn't very comfortable. The reception staff were pretty indifferent on arrival with nobody explaining the hotel facilities in any depth in fact with the exception of a couple of the younger staff at breakfast service most staff were quite surly and not welcoming. Breakfast was served partially buffet style with the addition of a cooked breakfast ordered at your table. Whilst we were there a coach party arrived and this hotel is probably more suited to large parties. A nice lounge and bar at the front as well as outdoor seating area and parking score positively for the hotel.

Just returned from a lovely stay in Falmouth at the Poltair. The location is wonderful, about 10 minutes walk from the town centre and 10 minutes the other way to Gyllys beach. Our room was fab, lovely sea view with a balcony, big bathroom and large room. A little outdated but very clean and had everything we needed. Love that fact we had actual glasses and big coffee cups (not many places do!!!) and a fridge in the room was a great touch too! Breakfast was delicious and friendly and fast service. Everyone we spoke to was very friendly and we quite enjoyed the fact you’re just left alone! Given a key for the room and front door on check in and do as you please ect. Would definitely stay here if we were in the area again. 😊😊

From the moment we step through the door the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and clean and we had everything we needed. Nothing was too much trouble. My husband wasn’t arriving at the hotel until the second night me and my son were there. The owner of the hotel kindly let him have his drinks from the honesty bar on the house which was very kind. The breakfasts were well organised and good choice of food. All breakfasts we ate were delicious. The location is superb as the seafront is literally a 1 minute walk and town is only a 5 minute walk. Although the car park only holds about 3 cars there was plenty of room on the road to park. I would definitely stay again.

One can tell - from the many conversions - that Falmouth's hotels have had a hard time, but such is the quality of the Royal Duchy that it should be the last to succomb, if ever. The public rooms are clean and spacious with attractive decor. The bedrooms are not large but are comfortable with first class beds and pillows. The bathrooms are adequate but currently looking a little dated. The food is beautifully chosen, prepared and presented. The service is every area is cheerful, helpful and efficient. So, just one or two minor criticisms: for people staying a few nights more daily changes to the menu would be welcome; the terrace lounge is deservedly very popular but soon fills up, whereas the television room is huge and barely patronised; bedrooms would greatly benefit from some illuminated indication of the time; catering prices are rather high. Nevertheless a thoroughly enjoyable four-day stay. and would instantly choose this hotel if ever again in the area. CATO

This B & B has the perfect location to visit anywhere in Falmouth. A short walk to the pubs and cafes of the town or the beach. Simon had called us on the day to check what time we thought that we would arrive. We loved the bookcase in reception with an eclectic mix of titles and our room had some interesting reads notably things you had forgotten you knew from your school days. Room 6 was quiet and had a great shower. The only niggle, there was no shaver point, so either take an adapter or ensure your shaver is fully charged! Breakfast was lovely served by very friendly and happy staff. The b & b are clearly proud of their Cornish roots sourcing food and drinks from Cornwall, even down to a locally produced tomato ketchup and jam as good as home made. The stay was really good value and would certainly stay again, and we would try their afternoon tea. Tip, if you book direct, you get a discount.

After spending a fair bit of time looking for a place to eat for 6 (we were all in the same bubble), we managed to get a table at Chain Locker, a lovely pub looking out over the harbour in Falmouth. We were seated in the restaurant on the top floor. For a Sunday evening it was unusually quiet but for us, perfect. We had downloaded the app but were advised by our waitress that it was not needed. After an initial hiccup with the menus (what was on the paper version seemed different to what was on the electronic iPad), we placed our order. Starters were fish cakes with a wonderful rich sauce. To be honest, this could have been a main. Very crisp outside but with an awesome filling. Men had steaks for main. As per expected, very well prepared and no complaints. Ladies had the special, lamb cutlets with a Moroccan sauce. Wow.. tender, juicy and with a jus out of this world. If you are there when on the menu again, you want be let down. To wash all this down, we had the house red and white. The philosophy behind this is if you have a good house wine, the food will be just as good. The food, wine and view ensured a great night was had by all.

Perfect for a stay in Falmouth. The staff were warm, welcoming and friendly. The food was great tasting and great value too. Breakfast was cooked to perfection - I chose the scrambled eggs, which is so easy to over cook, but the chef, Simon, created perfect moist, fluffy eggs accompanied by crisp-but-not-dry bacon. During our stay we tried all aspects of the menu - bar snacks, mains, burgers and of course the Sunday roast. We were not disappointed by any of the food at all. The roast was heavenly - from the tasty gravy to the succulent meat and perfectly cooked selection of vegetables. The pub was friendly with great beer and wine and the staff couldn't be faulted for their helpfulness. The room was as expected: basic but fresh, clean and tidy. Location wise, you are within walking distance of so many other pubs and restaurants and Falmouth itself is a perfect place for striking out to explore further afield. The only thing I would say is that parking may be an issue - the pub did not appear to have a car park and on-street was a bit cramped. The only disappointment was that we are in the middle of the pandemic and missed out on the music performances - I was particularly looking forward to some live musicians and the atmosphere that they would have brought. We will definitely be back...

We got married at the Greenbank hotel in October during the covid restrictions, obviously we had initially planned and booked the wedding the year before prior to any Covid knowledge. When we first went to look around the Greenbank hotel we were greeted by the wedding planner Jane, Jane has a reputation around Cornwall for being an amazing wedding planner, and someone who knows everyone and knows exactly how to orchestrate the perfect wedding, in fact her reputation spanned as far as a couple of our vendors in Plymouth! This reputation turned out to be an undersell, Jane was absolutely amazing to us from start to finish, despite a dramatic drop in guest numbers Jane worked to reassure us and come up with ways our wedding could still go ahead and be special, giving us recommendations of the best suppliers, allowing us to tailor key aspects. The wedding simply could not have gone ahead without Jane and the rest of the Greenbanks team help. We went in for the menu tasting back in Feb time I believe, and we were absolutely blown away by the quality of the food and the quantity, we were slightly worried that it wouldn’t be replicated on the day but we were wrong, the food on the actual wedding day was absolutely fantastic, every single person at the wedding commented how great the food was (and there were some fussy eaters!) our favourites were the fish cakes, pork and sticky toffee pud! The kitchen really outdid themselves and the food all came out quickly and promptly. The Greenbank hotel team made the wedding so stress free, Matt G the assistant manager spent ages with us before the wedding going through the details and the art of the possible giving us advice, so that on the day he completely took over, setting up and dressing the room, moving the tables exactly how we liked it and running the music playlists for the entrance/exit/reception music. He was absolutely an incredible host and a really nice person as well who was so kind in wishing us well. The lookout suite was fantastic as well, it had so much room in that gave our son a lot of room to burn off his energy! Overall we loved our wedding and wouldn’t have had it anywhere else, thankyou to the whole team at the Greenbank!

Don’t think we’ll be staying at a Richardson hotel again. (Until improvements have been made) In Summary: A really tired hotel that is in desperate need of general maintenance. (Repairs & Cleaning) Even the drive resembles the surface of the moon. The food was certainly not of standards promoted on their website. Our Stay. (1 night as a couple + another single guest) Our room 302 was adequate in size for the two of us, decor ok, but showing serious signs of its age & use, you can see how they are divided up to get more rooms in the hotel to try and increase occupancy/numbers staying. As you can see from the photo, the window of the hotel does not look like it’s ever been washed in its life. Ok, we didn’t ask for a sea view, but a view of something other than filth would have been nice. The bathroom looks as though it had been remodelled at some time, but ongoing maintenance is lacking here as the shower door needs heavy lifting to close properly or the water will simply go all over the floor. I think this has been like this for a while the room smells damp. The design of the bathroom does not lend itself very well for toiletries/makeup etc. Then the Breakfast. We were at breakfast in the early shift so it was quieter (as Recomended by posters). My wife & daughter requested the smoked salmon, and after 10 mins or so, they were advised that they did not have any available so had to make another choice. My buffet (cooked breakfast) this was a first ever: Dishing up my sausages, bacon, beans, hash brown etc, return to the table, take a bite into my slice of bacon with a bit of the egg and WOW, a stone COLD semi runny egg to eat with my bacon, now that’s a first. Not only did we have an issue with the food, but a neighbouring table had issues with his ‘Not Cooked’ black pudding. Overall, I believe the management ought to sample the rooms, food and the general hotel to see for themselves the areas it need attention or I can see people will not return. (Like us) All of this was bought to the attention of the hotel who were very apologetic and took note of the issues raised. (The staff were very helpful but I fear limited to their options of what they could do and know the hotel is in need of attention and have had comments like this before) - I have been promised a call from the duty manager so let’s see the official reply/responses.

Had hiked all day and just intended dropping in for a refresher that Friday before going back to my hotel to crash. Some band was warming up, and they broke into a stonking version of "If the Kids Are United" by Sham 69. Slightly absurd considering the advanced age of the band, who were called Blackout, but brought me back to my punk youth in the 70s. So I stayed, drank, danced, and sang my heart out, sweating buckets in the steamy evening and replenishing with more pints of Pravha than I cared to count The atmosphere in this central but relatively small pub was cracking. A mix of amiable locals and visitors had a proper good time, thanks to the quality of the band and the relaxed, easygoing style of the pub and its staff. Friendly vibe and a proper pub.

Well deserving of 5 stars. We had a one night stay on this occasion with a booking of two rooms. It may be relevant to mention our age range was 18 to 54. We received a very warm and friendly welcome from a gentleman who, I assume, is the owner. He took the time to ask about our journey and shared some memories of his time in our home town without being over intrusive. Both our rooms were spotlessly clean, nicely decorated and extremely comfortable. The bar is relaxed and is impressively stocked. We were particularly taken with the choice of alcohol free drinks in both beer and spirits including my personal favourite Seedlip. We stayed for dinner and indulged in 3 courses each of which was beautifully presented and delicious. After a good night's sleep, we had time for a relaxed breakfast before leaving. The choice was excellent and again delicious. We had an easy checkout with the same gentleman who remembered the reason for our stay and sent us on our way with his good wishes. During our stay each and every staff member we had contact with was friendly, polite and professional. There was just one negative of our stay and that is we only stayed one night. We will definitely stay again and next time for longer.
