The rooms are designed in forest wood, just like living in nature! Facilities are new and clean, even friends with cleanliness will live comfortably! There is free parking, and the windows are carefully designed, all looking out is a landscape painting. The room is large, there is enough space to open two large luggages, and the interior design is very human and convenient to use. The waiters were kind and friendly and very polite. The dinner is not special, but you can try it, but the breakfast is good! The hotel location is near Takachiho Gorge, about 10 minutes walk.

I think there is a parking lot and a convenient inn to drive around Takachiho. The lobby is old and dim and very quiet. It may be just a good quiet for the body that checked in tired by Takachiho walk. . . There was free wifi in the room, but I didn't notice, and I didn't write anything in the manual book in the room, so I called the front desk and told me. The meal was delicious for dinner and breakfast. I'm sorry I couldn't eat it. When I asked the staff where they could buy soy sauce, they told me more about where they were selling and how they were selling. The bath has the amenities necessary for the room and the public bath. In addition, if you don't know anything, you will be very kind to tell me that you ask the color 々 from here. If you take the time to check out, you may not get through the 1 elevator.

When we close our eyes and imagine the quintessential Japanese luxury ryokan, Takachiho Ryokan Shinsen is among the first properties that springs to our mind. It represents everything awesome about the best ryokans with almost zero drawbacks, and we departed from Shinsen awestruck at how perfect every aspect of our stay was. From the incredible Omotenashi service, gorgeous gardens, architectural elegance, spacious and beautiful villa room, mind-blowing kaiseki cuisine to the terrific private open-air Onsen bath, everything about Shinsen emphatically screams "destination ryokan." Shinsen is a family-owned property with a total of just 15 rooms among 3 separate areas: the Honkan (main), Bekkan and Hanare. They are within 1-minute walking distance form one another, and each area has its own unique character - the landscaping is fascinating, as well as the various private dining rooms that are in each building. For instance, in front of the Honkan main entrance is a dry rock garden that is reminiscent of the famed Ryoan-ji in Kyoto, while in the Bekkan it has that plus a variety of perfectly manicured vegetation as well as a small, red-painted traditional-style bridge. The private dining rooms each have its own character as well as views out of the window; we especially loved the view from one of the Bekkan "Ko****su" rooms during our dinner on the second evening - the window faces the garden, which is lit up from the ground, resulting in a mesmerizing view of the rock garden patterns, mysterious trees and the pretty red bridge. For every meal (whether it's for breakfast or dinner), they escorted us from our room to a different private dining room located in various locations throughout the property. We spent all 3 nights in a room called "Manyo," a detached villa that was located in the Hanare section of Shinsen. Ms. Kumi Sato, the charming and elegant "Okami-san" (Proprietress) mentioned that Manyo is the best room at the property. It's a generous 100m² in size, and thoroughly modern with all of the creature comforts that one would expect at a top-flight luxury hotel. Manyo's room consisted of a bedroom with two double Western-style beds, a living room with a sofa, coffee table and a large, flat-screen television, and a Japanese-style tatami room as well. It's an open floor plan, although each section of the room can be closed off by sliding the walls shut for privacy (or peace and quiet.) Very versatile! The Villa had a large patio with a beautiful zen-style rock garden beyond it. Off to the side is an outdoor, free-flowing Onsen (hot springs) bath made of Hinoki wood. Next to the Onsen (and inside the Villa) is the vanity, toilet and indoor (regular) bath and shower. The layout of the Villa, as well as the furnishings and decor was all top-notch - the perfect setting to have a lengthy, relaxing stay in the Villa should you opt not to explore the Takachiho area. If there is one minor nitpick, it has to do with the lack of dual sinks,

My husband and I was visiting the Takachiho area back in May for my birthday. We never have stayed in this area before and we think we should try. After doing some research online, we have decided on this one and we are not disappointed but very impressed in fact. This is a boutique ryokan with only several rooms. It is around 5 mins drive from the Takachiho Gorge and is located not on the main road but a very quiet street (please make sure you check the gps carefully or you may miss it). Each rooms are in its individual house inside the ryokan area. Our room/house is in the very inside and when they are showing us the way from reception, we both feel like we are having a holiday on a tropical island. The settings, the design and the deco are making us feel like we are having a tropical vacation lol. Very relaxing. The room is a very modern beautiful designer-type Japanese style room. The room size is huge too!!! And they have indoor bath (not onsen though I suppose) and a very spacious bathroom area (they even have provided guests their own amenities kit/case like those that you received when flying business class. First time I received such a thing despite I have stayed in different Japanese ryokan for more than 20 times. Very thoughtful!). Their beds are very comfy too!! No complain at all!! Talking about service, yes, they provided excellent service! Their staffs are always wearing a smile and they are very polite and are taking very good care of us. They even have celebrated my birthday by providing a very yummy birthday cake and a mini birthday billboard. Their restaurant served good yummy food, too. We have enjoyed our stay a lot, especially the price isn’t too expensive given this kind of high quality room and service. Excellent and highly recommended!!! Although it is not those traditional Japanese ryokan style, you won’t be disappointed and it’s worth giving it a try if you are around that area and want to have an overnight stay.

Hotel traffic is not convenient, this is the most troublesome. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from Takachiho bus stop. Moreover, although the hotel is close to Takachiho Gorge, the winding road to the hotel is very tired. The hotel room is equipped with a balcony, and the hotel is like a new one, clean and tidy. The hotel's meeting place is very good, the local is very prominent. Breakfast is a bit simple. The hotel’s spa is slightly scammed and actually small. The hotel can pick up and go to the shrine to watch the night gods at night, 700 per person. Takachiho Gorge has a light show in the summer evening, but don't go because there are no street lights, especially black. In addition, if the hotel dinner is not possible, there are several home wine houses near the Takachiho bus stop, which is open at night and has a convenience store (closed at 23 o'clock). Although there is a distance from the hotel.
