The building was old like most of the historic buildings in Genoa but indoors was comfortable and modern. Excellent location in the historic centre very close to the main railway station and to the bus stop to the airport and 15 minutes walk to the old port with lots of restaurants to choose from. Staff was great, excellent customer service and very helpful all the time. The reception was open 24 hours. there was a small fridge and the hotel would provide a bottle of water every day as a compliment. The room was spacious and clean and the bathroom with toiletries and hot running water every time. The towels were very clean and changed every day. The breakfast was open from 6 to 10 and it was buffet style with lots of different choices to eat from. The lady at breakfast was very friendly and she would make coffee according to personal preference. And Genoa was a surprising city with beautiful palaces and medieval buildings to see and a beautiful port where to go for a stroll after dark with bars and restaurants and people watching. Here, like all around Italy, the gastronomy and the wines are wonderful. Just opposite the hotel is a beautiful church worth to visit with amazing frescos (L'Annunziata). And only about an hour to beautiful Portofino, Rapallo and Santa Margherita Ligure for a day trip and lovely surroundings.

Location of this hotel is just excellent, a few minute walk from the Piazza Principe railway station. The staff is friendly and the old building has it's own gracefulness. However one must beware that the reception/hotel is on the third floor of the building and there is no elevator from the street level, thus arriving with heavy luggage can be challenging. The two star rating for this hotel is justified due to the fact that the hotel does not have the facilities required for higher rating, but the friendly staff and the cozy atmosphere really makes you feel welcome. The room for us turned out to be a two room studio with a full size fridge and an ice box. The studio didn't have a kitchenette and thus self-catering is not possible. Overall this was a pleasant stay.

I am really enthusiastic about this hotel. Stay there if you can! Stayed here with a group of students - they had the 8 bed apartment and as teachers we had single rooms. The Hotel is centrally located - about a ten minute walk from the main station and is on a safe and historical street. The rooms are great - a good size with showers and all the usual facilities. They are clean, comfortable and have character being painted in the style of different artists. There are a couple of social areas that are amazingly decorated. Wifi is fast. Breakfast is wonderful - nothing hot but a huge range of other things from cold meats and cheese through to warm croissants and breads. The best thing about the Hotel though is that it is family run and the husband wife and daughter team are amazing hosts. Nothing is too much trouble and they give out really good information about the city and where to go to eat and what to see. Our trip would not have been as great had it not been for their help. We are hoping to visit again next year - this is a really great small hotel! Oh - and it is on the third floor of an old palace with really Genoese views from the windows - there is a lift!!

We arrived very late due to a flight delay and Maurizio was there to meet us. The taxi dropped us right outside the building and the entrance was by buzzer. The foyer and lift were very quaint and took us to the forth floor. The apartment itself was spacious with two bedrooms and a kitchen area. We stayed with another couple so had the whole apartment to ourselves. The rooms where tastefully decorated and bathrooms modern. The very large windows with shutters overlooked the port of Genoa which had amazing views. The breakfast was adequate for my sweet tooth however it would have been nice to have something savoury for those who don’t like sweet things first thing. The area of the port had a few bars and restaurants which close around 11pm. Genoa is a lovely labyrinth of streets and plenty of sites to see.

We have just come back from a mini week end in Genova. We stayed at Hôtel de Ville (why not Hotel de la Ville?). The hotel is new and it is located in two floors of an old Palazzo modernly restores just in front of the old harbor. This area has become in the last years one of the best in town, with the famous aquarium, restaurants, cinemas...The streets of the elegant shoppingare 10 minutes walk away while the famous Vicoli (the little streets of the old town) are just behind. The hotel is all decorated in beige, grey and brown tones and all around there is a beautiful collection of travel posters and affiches (if they are all original they must have cost a fortune)! Our room was huge and comfortable with a beautiful view on the harbor. Of course there is the “sopraelevata” (a busy and noisy highway) in between but the soundproof is excellent. Breakfast was ok. We went with a Smartbox and the voucher included an Aperitivo, which was tasty. But why not having a simple crodino,in Italy?

If you visit Genoa, make sure you stay here. Simona contacted us before we arrived and although our check in time was 12.30, she met us at 9.30 to let us leave our bags until the room was ready. Thanks you Simona for being so thoughtful. The location is unbeatable. The room is clean and fresh with fresh towels and an awesome shower. Coffee and tea in the common area, all you need if you need to snack. You come out of the apartment block and you are in the midst of the hustle and bustle of this beautiful city. Restaurants and eateries within 5 minutes. The little alleys of shops and within walking distance of the main city centre. The Aquarium is right opposite as is the taxi rank Bus stop and Metro. This is the perfect location so don't miss out. We will be back 100%.

We felt we really struck lucky with Palzzo Zecchino. As with so many streets in old Genoa, the approach is narrow, busy and cramped - but once through the door we were in another world. We had a cosy, antique-furnished double room (with an immaculate en suite) next to the grand dining area, which is decorated in classical palazzo style. Eduardo could not have been more welcoming; he spent time on arrival showing us highlights of Genoa on a map and recommending good places to eat. We felt we were in our own little oasis of serenity in this hectic and fascinating city. We wholeheartedly recommend Palazzo Zecchino.

Super clean place with a nice bed and extra’s that would fit in a high end hotel. Valeria is warm personality who knows how to serve hospitallity. She won’t be around the place, but is available anytime if you let her know. Breakfast was perfect. She asked for special requests and will spoil you with whatever you like. The place is located very central. The building is super old, just like the rest of the city. But nicely renovated. The room has AC and heating. Even floorheating in the bathroom. Nice flatscreen in the room and Kitchen. Don’t expect big Windows with a view. But if you go outside there is enough to see! The weekend I stayed here there where Some loud guest in the room next to us. So bring your earplugs.

Been there for a few days, sharing a big room with friends and that's ok. 3 bathrooms plus a washbasin room in the corridor within...50 people? Mainly clean (room is not clean - got dust 'cats' under by bed ). Ther funny stuff was some underwear abandoned for days to dry. In the kitchen it is well written "food found without a name and room number will be throwen away" but nothing mentioned for the clothing. Perfect central position, I would recomment it. Breakfast is provided, you just have to prepare it and wash your dishes. And many people don't understand that the wooden 'tray' close to the sink is a chopping board, and not a place where to let dry the cleaned stuff. Curious. Other curious fact is that not all the people working there speak Italian. Is it Italy?

The location is very good. Just near the aquarium. There is a supermarket and breakfast shop 100 meters to the right of the hotel. The room we stayed in was the open window and the sea. It was really close to the lively place on the seaside in Genoa. It was about three minutes walk from the aquarium.

Breakfast is a typical Western breakfast with simple salads, various breads, cereals, yoghurt, apples, hot dishes such as fried sausages, scrambled eggs, bacon, etc. The hotel is located close to the train station, less than 300 meters away from the central shopping area. . But there are two train stations in the city. If you stop at another high-speed rail, you have to cross the tunnel and walk for 40 minutes. The hotel has parking spaces. Because we have two children, the hotel upgrades the room type for free, which is equivalent to giving us two identical rooms next door. In addition, the door key of the hotel is thick and copper, and the key can be kept at the front desk. In addition, the hotel does not provide disposable toothbrushes, you must bring your own. However, most hotels in Europe do not offer it.

Our flight got cancelled and we called up the Genova Liberty Hotel where we'd been staying. Unfortunately they were out of rooms but offered to ask Soana. There words were "it's not quite so nice but it's clean". To be fair to Soana, the rooms are a bit old, the furniture is a bit on the older side but it was clean, decent en suite, comfy bed, air con and the people were extremely kind. It's so grim when your flight gets cancelled but we were greeted, shown the room, the owner printed out our new boarding passes for us as well and even though it would have been really easy for them to have bumped up the price because we were stuck and had nowhere to go, it was really reasonable. If you're travelling on a budget, you could certainly do far worse and you couldn't fault the hospitality.

Excellent modern mini suites in a renovated building just across the road from the Principe train station and on the main street to the historic centre, about 10 mins walk away. (Palazzo Real is on the same street). Entrance to the hotel, like many of the other old buildings is very narrow so take care not to miss it. Surrounded by cafes and restaurants but still pretty quiet. We had a separate bedroom linked to a small sitting area with a super large armchair, desk, mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities and even a couple of biccies. Bed and pillows were really comfortable. Bathroom was also reasonable size with modern fittings, a shower cubicle (no bath) and complimentary shower gel and body lotion. A buffet breakfast is usually available for 7 euro we were told but was closed due to covid. This was not an issue as there is a decent cafe next door and several others to choose from close by as well. My only criticism was that there was no heating in the room. We could only get the air con to blow out cold air and as it was pretty chilly and wet during our stay, we could really have done with a bit of warmth.

We stayed for 4 nights at BB Tube. We had the room with balcony which was great to come back to after a day out and have a drink. The room was excellent. The host, Luigi, was such a nice man, he can advise you on where to visit and where to eat out for a reasonable cost. The B&B is close to the train station which is good for getting around. There are electric blinds on the windows which cut out any noise. Luigi told us about an old rack train which goes to Casella which was nice. The volabus takes you from the airport to Brignole train station. If you are at the front exit of Brignole train station looking out at bus stops and trees then turn right keeping the building close to you, after a coffee shop there is a tunnel covered in graffiti. Walk to the end where there are steps on the left and opposite is a lift which takes you up to road level, come out of lift follow the road up on the left to a zebra crossing, cross it and BB is just up on your right. Breakfast was very good too. Enjoy your stay.

Il Genovino was superb. The room was quiet, large, with excellent facilities, very comfortable bed and a range of 3 pillows each. The a/c and wifi were very efficient. Didn't try the tv but the remote had netflix and youtube on it. There was a usb charging socket next to the bed. Breakfast was delicious with cereal/focaccia/huge croissants/cake/juice/yoghhurt/cheese/ham set out, and coffee however you want it made in the shared kitchen (there are 3 rooms in total , ours had a small balcony with chairs/table ) with the delightful owner Anna (or a friend) onsite at breakfast time. Anna was very helpful with good advice about how to get to places and where to eat. Initially we thought it further from the historic centre than we had imagined from maps, but it is only a few minutes by cheap and frequent bus from just outside the apartment building to the central sights. Taxis are easy to call too. It is in a very safe residential area with several small supermarkets and good restaurants very close and a lot of excellent restaurants a pleasant 10 minute walk away in Albaro Arena, so we were very pleased we stayed there rather than in the busy centre.

Good hotel close to Genova train station and only a 5-10 minute walk to the center. The room was clean, enough space and the bathroom was fine. Check in was a bit strange. A few days before we arrived we got a message via booking.com from the ower with the question what time we should arrive at the hotel. We send our arrival time and we got a message back the check in time was (as stated on booking.com) at 6 PM. We didn't understand why the owner wanted to know our arrival time then. As 6 PM is quite late for us we were ok with check in in at 6 PM but when we arrived at 4 PM didn't expect to find the hotel closed. For us check in is something different than a closed front door. So we couldn't drop off our suit cases and explore the city (as we thought would be possible and check in at 6 PM). We had some drinks in a bar nearby and went back at 5. Luckly the owner was arrived and we could drop off our suitcases in the room. So keep in mind you can only enter the hotel at 6 PM and you cannot drop off your suitcases before that time. Maybe a tip for the owner to mention this.

This hotel was in an excellent location -- a 10 minute walk from the train station through a shopping district, and 10 minutes to the main Ferrari Piazza. The hotel did allow us to check in early which was very kind, but there was some confusion about the prepayment of our booking through Expedia which was a bit frustrating. The hotel room was clean and modern with high ceilings painted with a mock fresco. The room has a mini fridge stocked with two bottles of complimentary water, along with a TV, wardrobe, free WiFi, luggage racks, and a simple but spacious bathroom. The best part about this hotel is the excellent continental breakfast served each morning which included a full spread of croissants and toast with jam/nutella/peanut butter/etc., eggs, selection of meat and cheese, torte, yogurt, whole fruit, juice, and coffee. You can help yourself to whatever you would like, and there is lots of seating available. The staff clean up your table after you finish. Besides the confusion with the hotel check-in, we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel with the comforts similar to a typical North American hotel with some added charm and a hearty breakfast.

Wonderful hotel in an old palazzo. Perfect location for walking to the major attractions of Genoa (the aquarium and waterfront, the many palazzos along Via Garibaldi, Palazzo Reale, etc. Rooms are modern, spacious and well equipped and the breakfast was excellent, with changing homemade pastries and breads every day. Service was excellent as well - when we found our showerhead broken they fixed it in an hour and brought us a gift of a panettone to apologize for any inconvenience. I will only add one caution for those of more delicate sensibilities. To get to some of the attractions (especially up to Via Garibaldi), you will need to navigate some of the narrow, old alleys/streets that have a bit of a ... reputation. Yes, we did walk past women lingering outside who seemed to be of a particular occupation and some gentlemen who might have dealt in the trade of certain substances. But none of them bothered us at all, I never felt in any risk or danger, just do as the locals do and walk along to your destination. I would still not hesitate to stay here again on a future trip to Genoa.

This lovely, charming and super clean hotel is located on the fourth floor of a building that is exceptionally well located in the centre of the city. When staying at this hotel, you will be dealing with the owner directly. You can tell that this owner takes pride in caring for his hotel and his guests. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and professional. The owner speaks Italian and French fluently and can also communicate in English. Staff are happy to help direct you to visit local landmarks in the city and provide local maps and suggestions of what to see. To give you an idea of how well situated this hotel is, it is an 8 minute walk from the Genova Brignole train station and an 8 minute walk from the Piazza de Ferrari, which is the centre of the city. Due to its excellent location, there are tons of local shops, cafés and sites to see, all within an easy short walk away. The hop-on-hop-off bus stops just steps away on the same street, Via XX Settembre. There is also a market steps away, where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables. Each room has Free Wifi, a mini-fridge, TV, desk decent size cupboard to hang your clothes and it’s own washroom. The owner welcomes families as well as couples or single travellers. I was a single woman travelling on my own and wanted a safe, clean, centrally located hotel to stay at in advance of my scheduled MSC cruise. I stayed here for 4 nights before my cruise and liked it so much that I booked an extra 3 nights upon my return. What you see on Olympia Hotel’s website is exactly how it looks in person. I definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a very clean and comfortable hotel that suits your budget. Rates are competitive without compromising quality. This hotel does get Fully Booked in high season, so keep that in mind when booking your dates. Very satisfied

I stayed at the Hotel Fiume with my family in early April 2019. This is the first time that we have been to Italy and chose Genoa because it was easy to reach from my local airport in Bristol and the city isn’t far from Genoa airport. The Volabus that stops outside the terminal building takes you more or less straight to the hotel and it takes about half an hour. The cost is €6 per person (child or adult) one way. The hotel is centrally located in Genoa right on the doorstep of the main shopping area and about a half an hour walk from the harbour area. It’s also very handy for buses to neighbouring towns as well as the main Genoa train station which is about a 5 minute walk away if you want to go further afield. The hotel is small and has the feeling of a ‘hostel’ about it, but it’s very clean and well appointed. I would imagine that it was a residential property at some point in the past that has been converted into a hotel. Our room was small, but perfectly adequate for our purposes. Small bathroom with a shower (no bath) and all the usual bathroom amenities! One wardrobe was provided and no safe. TV on the wall with Sky TV albeit in Italian. We were able to catch some live Premier league football in our room which was a novelty! There is Sky News and BBC World news in English but that was the only English language channels I could locate. Reception staff are very friendly and more than willing to help. Most of them speak good English but one or two only speak Italian, therefore it is a good idea to learn the basics before you go! No Breakfast is served at this hotel, although there is a McDonalds in the city as well as a number of café’s around. There is a McDonalds on the corner, but it doesn’t open until 10.30am. There isn’t a bar or a restaurant onsite either. There was a coffee and tea vending machine and a kettle is provided in the room, although you will have to supply the tea, coffee, milk & sugar! There is a supermarket about 5 minutes’ walk away. All in all, don’t expect a lot from this hotel as it literally is just a bed and room for the night, but it represents very good value for shorter stays and is in a very good position within the city. If going to Genoa again, I would have no hesitation in staying here again.
