      Was in Louisville for a volleyball tournament with my wife and two teenagers. I've stayed at Best Westerns before and, while they're not the Ritz, have been good experiences. Booked two rooms late-ish and there was a lot going on in Louisville last weekend, so the rates were pretty expensive for a Best Western, but it was what it was. Arrived Friday evening. First, all rooms face outside a la a Motel 6. The lighting outside was pretty poor which did not make me feel immediately safe. Generally, I'm an optimistic person, and even if things don't seem quite right, 98% of the time I assume it'll be OK, and it is. But this was one of those 2% moments when I immediately started to doubt my stay. Trying to look on the bright side, we went into one of the rooms. Immediately, we were greeted with the stench of ********* and all four of us looked at each other with "uh-uh." At that point, we went back to the front desk and said our room smelled like pot and frankly we just wanted to find somewhere else to stay. We were told fine but that we owed one night's stay (which totalled ~$370 for both rooms). I said we'll think about it and we all went to get a bite to eat. Our thoughts didn't change, so when we got back to the hotel (now it was ~10:30pm) we left. Of course, the lobby was closed so we had to interact with the front desk via a teller-like window that harkens back to the days of no-tell motels. The clerks were helpful but they had problems getting me a final bill. Finally I got a receipt but was told it'd be the correct amount in the morning, and it was, namely one night for two rooms. As I said above....98% of the time I'm willing to just go with it, it's just a place to sleep, no big deal. But this time.....pot stench, unsafe feeling in parking lot, poor outside lighting, poor quality room....not so much. Very disappointing that we were charged two nights' worth of rooms but at that point we just wanted to get out of there. Even if we were to have stayed, how could they fix the problem of the smell? Seems very unfair we were charged. In an odd twist of fate, we then found rooms at a Best Western Plus....right next door. This property was outstanding. Parking could be better, but otherwise everything else was fantastic. Will be writing a separate review for that property, but if you're going to be in this location, go the Plus and avoid the Green Tree Inn at all costs.

      When I booked a suite with the two rooms for 4 adults online I had no problems, but when I went to check in I was told the room was only for 3 adults. I didn’t say anything because one of the adults ended up having to work and couldn’t join us. To me that is wrong it should not have allowed me to book online if the room was for only for 3 adults. If the other adult would have came, would I of had to get two rooms? With having the two rooms and the air conditioner being in the couch area, it was extremely cold in the couch area, but because there was just a tiny vent to get air in the back bedroom it would be warm back there. No way to regulate the temperature to where everyone could be comfortable. So the person who slept on the pullout couch froze so the people in the bedroom wouldn’t sweat. Beds were extremely uncomfortable. The Ice/snack area was not temperature controlled, so it was extremely hot in there!! Like take your breath away hot when you walk in. Things we liked about the room was the size and the spacious kitchen area with a big refrigerator and the big table, although the chairs were stained and could use a cleaning. Bedroom area very spacious with a little vanity area and nice size closet. It was quiet, we didn’t hear other guest. All in all it looked clean other than the stains on the chairs. Although we loved the size of the room I would not stay at a Candlewood again, just because of the uncomfortable beds and not being able to regulate temperature in the bedroom area.

      Our stay at Townplace Suites by Marriott comes with a few pros and cons. We are originally from the area and traveled from Wisconsin to spend Thanksgiving with family. We chose this location because they accept pets, which was great. The other Marriott where we always stay does not. When we arrived the staff greeting us were very nice. The room was clean and the kitchenette well equipped, although we hadn’t planned on cooking. The beds were semi-comfortable and my wife was glad she brought her own pillows. There was no issues with the bathroom or tub/ shower. They had a heated indoor pool and hot tub, both relaxing and hardly used by others. The location was in a perfect location. Now, the downfall. Their website advertises a hot buffet breakfast. When we went to eat the only thing hot consisted of waffles you could make or oatmeal, otherwise it hard boiled eggs, pastries, pre-made breakfast sandwiches you could microwave and cereal. The gentleman running the breakfast told someone it was due to Covid. Oddly, what we couldn’t figure out was, the other Marriott we stay at was serving scrambled egg, bacon, sausage, omelets, a few weeks ago. Also, they advertise an on-site restaurant called The Bridge House, which was nothing more than a sign on the wall and no one around. Overall it wasn’t a bad stay and if we bring our dog next month we will probably consider staying, otherwise if she doesn’t come, we’ll probably go to the other location.
