We stayed at Labotessa in November to celebrate our first few days in Cape Town on our honeymoon. We had had a last minute change of plans and Labotessa were brilliant, their collection at the airport made our somewhat stressful arrival much calmer and the welcome at the hotel was so personal and friendly. The rooms are absolutely beautiful, with the elevator opening into the suite, absolutely perfect interiors with everything you could need for your stay (including Diptique cosmetics and even a yoga mat!). As it is a boutique hotel they are able to provide such personal and friendly service and were always more than happy to help us with anything such as restaurant recommendations and bookings, hike plans, and even drop offs in the town. The location is great too - within walking distance of lots of cafes, restaurants, bars (Kloof Street, bree street etc). The Starlings cafe within the hotel is also fabulous and with an all day breakfast service you can have breakfast in bed or room’s lovely lounge area whenever you wake - perfect for a relaxing start to a trip! Martin and Johan have obviously worked very hard to make Labotessa the beautiful hotel and seamless stay that it is and we would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you for making our honeymoon so special!

Holiday Inn is a chain hotel all over the world (also in China). The grade is not high, but it is economical, safe and tidy. This hotel in the heart of Cape Town has an excellent location. The front desk was very welcoming to the guests, so I traveled to South Africa this time, except for two days I wanted to see the sea view and change the hotel. I stayed at this store on other days. highly recommended!

Gorgeous George proved to be an inspired choice as a base for our 6 night stay in Cape Town. Gigi’s rooftop was a great place for breakfast and for evening cocktails. We also dined there one evening and it was lively and had a great atmosphere with good food. But what really makes the hotel special is the friendly and professional staff - from the cocktail barmen to the waiters to the housekeeping staff to the doormen to the receptionists - notably Sippo - all were excellent. They sorted out taxicabs, helped us with our golf clubs (we played golf 4 days during our stay). Ubers also proved a good option in the evening for short rides to the great restaurants around Cape Town. We booked our stay direct with the hotel so check out their own website. We had a lovely one bed suite with walk in shower, nice toiletries. A very enjoyable stay.

I spend last weekend in Cape town, SA, booked at Southern Sun Cape Sun Hotel , Strand St. And what was to be a great weekend get away, turned real nasty Sunday morning. An hour before my check out, I go down fior a quick breakfast, everything pakaged, ready to go in my room. I return 45 min later only to find some one has locked themselves into my room stolen my laptop and some money out of my travel purse (only the big notes), but left my passport. I call for security, still little in chock that this has happend. They appear fairly fast, but after a quick run trough of what was taken , they seem more anciuos to get me to check out and of to the airport. I ask if this will be raported to the police, but dont get an answer only that they will investigate. I mention that they can check the log of which keycard was used to enter my room. They acknowledge this, with another they will investigate. Clearly this was arrange by someone within the hotel, timing was perfect, hotel had my travel details and knew that I had to be in the airport that morning or miss my flight. I have since tried to follow up via mail and phone, who ever i speak to just tells me this is still under investigation and they will get back to me. The Manager is not available... Hopefully this, with this bad review, will wake someone within the Sun Group and see to it that their employee`s don't systematic steals from their guests ! The staff here who greeted me where really friendly and welcoming, so thank you! My room was nice and cosy but quite small for a double. Perhaps through error of my own, I didn't realise that the room didn't come with it's own bathroom. If I had known this I would have just booked a cheaper shared dorm room - I paid for the more expensive option to have my own space and was disappointed but this is probably my own fault. The room initially looked clean and was tidy - no dust anywhere, however the bedsheets and trunk/seat whatever it was, at the end of the bed had several stains on it, some of which looked like blood. The drawer next to my bed also had some dirt in it. There was no security safe in the room and one of the lights didn't work. Otherwise I slept okay - The bed was very comfortable and there wasn't too much noise from the street. The rest of the hostel seemed to have been recently repainted and is nicely decorated. However it has a funny feel to it - I was placed on the 'mens' floor, at the very end of the corridor so to use the toilets and showers I had to go all the way back down the corridor and then down a flight of stairs to the women's. The floors are very slippery (highly polished wooden boards) and extremely loud and creaky! I was scared I'd be waking up other guests when walking to use the toilet in the night. Overall, I'm not sure how I feel about this property, the staff were friendly and welcoming but I just wasn't sure about the rest of the property. Maybe it would feel different in the summer when it's busy and full of other people. I feel I could have just slept in a female dorm room and probably had it to myself as the property seemed completely empty, other than for a few older men.

We stayed here for 6 nights at the beginning of our Africa holiday for our 25th anniversary. Cape Riviera was just lovely! The breakfast was always fresh & delicious. The rooms are spacious, beautiful and the bed is very comfortable. The entire staff is incredibly friendly, nice and so helpful with anything we needed or requested. The location at the base of table mountain is calm, quiet and the view is spectacular! Michelle was so helpful as well as the other girl who came in - I feel bad I don’t remember her name, but she was so nice! The location is a short Uber right to anywhere in town. I would recommend Cape Riviera for a Cape Town stay! ❤️

We were midway through our 3+ week journey in Africa when arrived in Cape Town. We are loyal Marriott customers and found this property on the Marriott website. I am so happy that we found this hotel. We had a very spacious apartment with a King bedroom. It was so nice to spread out and do some much needed laundry in the washer/dryer. I will admit the washer/dryer combo is typical of those found in Europe that can be painfully slow but it washed our clothes beautifully so I was very happy. The hotel is convenient to the Victoria and Albert waterfront area, the convention center, and two of the hop on- hop off red bus stops. There is a very nice breakfast buffet available with made to order egg dishes. The dining room is open for dinner as well which is quite handy. We really liked this place. Another reviewer mentioned a club next to the hotel that can be noisy on the weekend---we were there for five nights including the weekend and never noticed any noise. Our room faced a large square with a well known large hotel opposite us. Perhaps that is a quieter side and you could request it. I never heard any outside noise.

Never @ Home Cape Town provided clean and comfortable accommodations throughout our stay in Cape Town. My boyfriend and I chose to stay in a private room, which was cost-effective and clean (even had its own bathroom complete with shower - totally awesome and unexpected!). A small safe in the room afforded us the opportunity to store our valuables while we were out on excursions. And the staff was more than accommodating - we arrived late after a few travel delays and they greeted us at the door with a smile. One small note - the country of South Africa was participating in load shedding when we arrived, which meant that at different times each day the power went out in our room. Never @ Home had a generator onsite, but that power did not extend to guest rooms. Since we spent very little time in our room it was ultimately not a huge issue.

We spent a wonderful three nights at this lovely B&B in central Cape Town. From the pre-arranged airport pick-up through to our departure, everything was perfect. The Victorian property and its garden is beautiful. Our room (7), with its soaring ceilings was comfortable, spotless, and quiet and the spacious bathroom had all the expected amenities. We do not watch television on holiday and were happy the room did not have one (on booking, you can request one be put into your room). Breakfast served outside during our visit, was very special: the menu included yoghurt, granola and fruit, juice, coffee/tea plus hot dishes or cheese and cold cuts platter, a different special every day, toast plus a daily bakery offering. Of course, much more food that we could manage, but it was all delicious! We appreciated (and used) the honesty bar and the range of items available: we find this much better than an in-room mini bar. There are also some things on display in the common areas that are for sale: the limited edition artwork purchased just went on our walls yesterday and are a wonderful reminder of our visit. We found the location great, an easy stroll into the city centre, good restaurants a few blocks away, and a pleasant walk to the V&A Waterfront. As advised, we did Uber back at night. Our day trip to the Cape and transfer to Franschhoek were organised for us and as well as being a great driver, Chris was very engaging and made these fun, informative and memorable. The staff elevate the experience for staying here: welcoming, helpful, and interested in their guests and guiding them to make the most of their visit to Cape Town. The perfect stay!

I recently experienced this local gem right on our doorstep. A quintessential guest-house, nestled in Cape Towns' picturesque and luscious Fresnye, with a warmth and hospitality that is simply put quite unparalleled. The hosts are incredibly warm, charismatic, welcoming and engaging... One doesn't feel like a guest, rather a part of this beautiful family. A genuine home away from home if ever there was one. The decor of the rooms are spectacular, without being intimidating or stiff. We arrived in Cape Town very early after an overnight flight and it was wonderful to be greeted at the airport by a driver, arranged by the hotel, who whisked us off to the Welgelegen. After a lovely greeting from Prince we were offered breakfast and coffee etc in the courtyard while our room was prepared. We weren't expecting to be allowed to check in so early so this was a massive plus being so tired. Expecting to be shown to our mini deluxe room we were overjoyed to find that they'd upgraded us, free of charge, to a much bigger room at the rear of the property with it's own lovely courtyard and a partial view of Table Mountain - what a start to our holiday. Following that I can only reiterate what virtually every other review on here has said The hotel itself, the courtyard, sitting areas etc, is charming. The breakfasts are outstanding (we'll miss Rita's cheerful greeting each morning) Every member of staff is so friendly and can't do enough for you. The location is perfect - aparently Welgelegen translates from Dutch to English as well placed or well situated. We never waited longer than 5 mins for an Uber and the immediate area felt very safe. We had a meal on Kloof St one evening and walked back in the dark with no worries whatsoever. If you are looking to stay in Cape Town there's no need to stay in the expensive but lifeless chain hotels on the Waterfront when an Uber ride from here to the V&A is less than £3. I'm sure this won't be our last trip to this amazing city and, when we return, we'll certainly stay at The Welgelegen

The stay at 51 On Camps Bay was wonderful from the moment we checked in to the moment we had to depart. Both rooms are fantastic. The suites are clean and private. We were able to stay in both rooms, splitting our stay. The "front" room has a sizable balcony with unobstructed views of the Ocean. The back room is sizable and very quiet and private . Both have small kitchenettes with Nespresso coffee provided every day. Great way to save some money and make breakfast and light meals in the room. The bathrooms are big and spacious. Loads of closet space. We both had plenty of space for our 2 weeks of clothing. Iron is provided and laundry is offered. Clothing comes back clean and perfectly folded and ironed. Such a nice treat. Also, I feel, this service is fairly priced. We look forward to staying here again. Location to Camps Bay restaurants and beach are second to none. Easy walk.

Our SA travel agent arranged our stay at the More Quarters in Capetown for a 4 night ( not long enough!) stay in this beautiful and fascinating city. We are 4 ladies from the USA on our first visit to South Africa. We were thrilled with everything about the More Quarters. We loved the spacious suite. The separate living room/kitchen was wonderful. This is perfect for people who want to cook in or bring in food or to relax in an apartment type set up. You don’t have to eat sitting on your bed. The only downside is the off-site parking. It is a few minutes drive to Woodstock and the V&A, and within walking distance to fantastic restaurants and a welcoming night-life. We stayed here for 3 nights in March 2020. The hotel is in a good location. Rooms are very spacious and well equipped with all amenities. Breakfast choices are good with a plentiful variety and eggs cooked how you like. Pancakes are also freshly made. Due to the Corona virus our flight to Mauritius was cancelled and we ended up staying an additional 2 nights before we could fly back home to the UK. Due to costs we decided to stay in the adjoining sister hotel Stay Easy. We found the Duty Manager Lebohung to be extremely helpful. He ensured that we could access the adjoining hotel from a connecting floor, gave us a discounted rate for the rooms, allowed us to have breakfast in the Sun Square hotel, provided bottled water and most importantly allowed us a late check out as our flight home was in the evening. Thank you Lebo for showing us humanity and kindness in these troubled times. The world is a better place with people like you. This hotel deserves a 5 star rating!

Once you arrive at Jaqcues' property you know why this Guesthouse has a 9.9 out of 10 with booking. He took care of us from the first moment until the sad farewell. The room that we got was wonderfully furnished and had a breathtaking view to table mountain and devils peak from our veranda. the rooms have no numbers but names. Ours was the "fynbos" like the great vegetation around his house. We just loved and enjoyed every single minute with Jaques and his wonderful employees Prudence, Grant and Seto. They made our stay a memorable and very "touchy" one. The breakfast was great and of course "with a view". Location is very safe and quiet but only 10 Minutes away from nice restaurants. Jaqces was there for us every evening and morning to help us with our sxploring and dining plans. He has a great knowledge about Capetown and the Western Cape. and the do's and dont's. Ask for red wines, he has just a great variety of superb wines at reasonable rates. Also great that he brings the guests together in the morning, or introducing new guests to the group . But also he invites for a chat and a spontanous drink on his nice terrace. We will definitely visit him again even if we only pass for a chat, he made us feel like friends!

The driver organised by the hotel was waiting for me at arrivals and as it was 10.00pm we reached La rose in the heart of the historic Bo-Kaap quarter in 20 minutes. The room was very clean and comfortable and it was a joy to be able to sleep with a window open after away from the hostile bugs of other tougher parts of Africa. Bread freshly baked on the premises, excellent coffee and a perfectly cooked omelette made for memorable breakfasts. Most guests choose to join the communal table presided over by our genial host Yoann who is a fund of advice and information. He pointed out that my intention to go to the Cape of Good Hope on the Sunday was impossible because of the Great cycle race but said it could still be done on my final day. He sorted out a tour company who completed a memorable trip(amazing coastal drive to the Point and back via the penguins) just in time to go to the airport. Thank you Yoann.

The Cape Standard Guest House and especially the team made our trip a very special one. From the first minute onwards, we felt like coming home - just in a different surrounding. The guest house is located in Greenpoint a suburb on the Atlantic seaboard of Cape Town. The promenade and the waterfront area are in walking distance and several restaurants are spread around that area. Other nice and interesting areas like the city center, Table Mountain and Lions Head can easily be reached by taxi or Uber. Also, the beaches like Clifton beach or Camps Bay are only a few minutes away. After experiencing Cape Town during the day, the Cape Standard Guest House is the perfect place for having a relaxed afternoon at the pool. The garden is wonderfully designed and when stepping on the patio, on which the breakfast is served when the sun is out, it feels like entering a small oasis. The place itself is very quiet, as it is located in a dead-end street. The breakfast offers everything necessary before starting a hike to the Table Mountain or Lions Head. The room we had was spacious as well as nicely furnished and was always kept clean and tidy by the staff. All in all, the wonderful team and the unique style of the guest house created a beautiful atmosphere, which we really enjoyed. The team was always very helpful and suggested a lot of nice sightseeing trips and restaurants to us. We will definitely be back and can highly recommend this great place.

I found the place rather on the disappointing side. I spend many days a year (+-120) away from home but never spend more than a week at a place. I am therefore not really looking for a home away from home but just a comfy, clean and convenient place for the stay. It is always business and therefore special pools and luxuries are not on my list of needs. What I could not ignore was that there is one Lady, Florence, doing everything and really trying her best. The room and what is found in it is poor. I am used to any place I have stayed in over the years to having an aircon or “working fan”, small fridge, microwave and a bit of working space. This one did not have any of that. The maintenance of the room and place in general is not on the way up but rather on the way down. I cannot say the room was dirty but it was very stuffy and had did not smell nice, fresh and clean. The place is very empty, but I think the owner can add two and two together as to why. The breakfast, although earlier than the industry norm, was very bland, limited and lacked any type of enthusiasm. The cereal was stale and this could be because they shelve it stands on (all day) is directly in the sun from about 15:00 in summer. Am I seriously the only person that has noticed this? I never like to knock a trying place but with your place there are too few people trying. I will not be easily convinced to return because the price I paid is a premium price and I did not stay in a premium guest house. All the best for the future
