|4.16km from city centerWas travelling in New Zealand when I was forced to isolate and this location after contracting Covid (it's still out there folks!). Francis & Grant the managers ... in fact the entire team ... took my predicament in their stride, were sympathetic and helpful. My apartment was spacious and confortable with everything I need for the isolation period. Lovely location on the front at Taupo although it's still a fair walk to the centre (there is a pub / restaurant next door that alas I could not try!). Nice looking pool and Spa. I recommend going for a first floor apartment if you can so that your views are not obscured by parked cars, though be prepared to carry cases etc steps. Grounds well-kept with a nice area for a bbq. Very impressed - would not hesitate to stay again!

|4.18km from city centerStayed 2 nights here over Labour weekend. Has been on our list for a long time, and the opportunity arose when the Border closure meant access for Kiwi's was a little easier. A sensational 2 days fro the moment we arrived. Have never experienced service like it. The Lodge was full for the weekend...full of a wide range of NZérs enjoying their own backyard, and it was great to chat in the Lounge around the fire after what were 2 nights of amazing culinary excellence. Cottages are awesome, right on the river, and we've never heard the ”Birdsong”like it at sunrise each morning. There were so many extra touches, each one shows why they are consistently in the Top 10 Lodges in the World. Wow...we need to get back there

The unit itself had everything and ours had a huge spa bath. Great king size bed and everything you need for a few nights stay kitchenette etc. Funky little coffee cart on lakeside 50 meters from motel.

A little pricey but worth it for the quality of the room. Four of us stayed and there was a separate bedroom with a TV. Loved the fact there was actually a bath as well as a shower.

They have great laundry facilities and the rooms are really excellent The staff were really friendly and helpful . They have done a wonderful job on the rooms, Keith a small kitchen and a good seating area. The bathrooms were first class. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area for the location, service and overall efficiency. The rooms was really comfortable.

|1.1km from city centerReally decent motel accommodation. Rooms are really spacious and tasteful. Guy at reception was really friendly. Room had a Spa Bath, Sky TV and a decent Kitchenette. There was also a small outdoor patio which is quite private. A few small gripes. The Bed was dreadful. So uncomfortable. This might be a matter of opinion, but there are a few proceeding reviews which also mention this. The water pressure is poor. Takes 25mins to fill the Spa Bath. Shower is also pretty poor. There are car parks outside the units, but the allocated one to your unit, may not necessarily be the one directly outside of it. Mine was tucked around the corner, where the car park directly outside my unit was occupied by a family who made a heck of a lot of noise loading their car and kids from 5am-5.30am. Not ideal at all. Also note the car park area is pretty tight. All in all a decent stay here at Ascot Taupo. Got a really really decent last minute price, which meant the little niggles were not that dramatic. Certainly if the price was higher, I would take it all into consideration.

|1.07km from city centerThere are some car hotels, right next to Lake Taupo, the scenery does not say, the car stops at the door of the room, very convenient, very suitable for self-driving travel. The rooms are compact but well-equipped, cooking and bathing are not a problem. It is very close to the supermarket and the place to eat, and there are two or three intersections by car. The New Zealand big sister at the front desk was very enthusiastic and stayed with milk.

|0.2km from city centerVery out dated facility in need of a lot of maintenance. To their credit the rooms are clean but paint was flaking off the walls. Features were very dated. The bathroom had been modernised but some of the fixtures were mounted in spots making the very hard to use. The staff are super friendly and very welcoming. Simple things like pool furniture cushions are completely shredded and a simple replacement would look a lot better and more usable. Overall we feel there are better options to stay at. Maybe it is only certain rooms that need upgrading? There was a seniors tour group and a continuous tour group staying there also. So clearly tour companies are happy to put their clientele here

|1.04km from city centerWe spent one night here. Room was large, clean and adequate for our needs. The design of the room / bath is a bit different..might say contemporary. It was quiet. Parking is limited near rooms but plenty of spaces in back of one building. There was a small kitchenette with refrigerator, coffee/tea fixings and toaster, dishes, etc., large jacuzzi tub (didn’t use) and separate shower. Our room didn’t have extra toilet tissue, the roll on the holder was a bit 1/3 full, which is fine, but needed an extra. No breakfast available, but you can make your own if you have items. We made toast and coffee in our unit.

They are very aware of a few past reviews and are committed to their roles of bringing this wee gem back on the map. Great holiday price for our stay too. We stayed in a Delux Suite on the top floor for 4 nights. The balcony is a shared walkway to other suites, though wide enough that each suite has a small table with two chairs outside. We had great views of the lake. Greeted warmly by our host & shown to our room. The room was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. TVs in lounge and bedroom. Bedroom was a good size. Pressure of shower was amazing and spa bath worked well. A few areas in bathroom need TLC however it was functional and owners are on to it. Room was serviced with fresh towels each day. Excellent location with a hop, skip and a jump to lake right in front. Cafe cart close and restaurant/bar 2 minutes away. Also within walking distance to main town centre. We will definitely be back!

Location was excellent just far enough out of town to be quiet but close enough to walk in along a walkway. Staff were extremely friendly. Room was clean with lovely quality bedding Dinner in the on site restaurant was really good and with a great view of the lake. Breakfast was fairly basic but sufficient and of a good quality. We would definitely stay again when in this area highly recommended

The only problems were the plug in the bathroom didn’t work so the bathroom was pretty cold to begin with, and the air conditioning unit/heater in the living room took ages to produce hot air and was complicated to understand; if it took the lady to come down and help us with it, I believe it really should’ve had a clear explanation printed out with it. The people their were really nice and helpful (super helpful in fact when I needed their help for something I had lost) for any of these things and more. I would just say that those couple of things that went wrong really could’ve been prevented by doing a quick check before had and having some instructions for perhaps complicated things like the air conditioning unit.

|1.54km from city centerWe enjoyed our stay at Wairaki resorts, especially the swimming in the huge inviting pools heated thermally. One can take a short walk from the lower pool along a steaming hot creek that feeds the pools. Don't miss it. Our room was plainly furnished but very comfortable and well laid out. Fine sleeping in this quiet peaceful setting with only a lovely array of bird calls. The menu was a bit limited, but the meals were very good, and we particularly enjoyed the excellent and extensive breakfast buffet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. One can rent bikes, and I loved my hilly ride to a marvelous waterfall while my husband golfed at the beautifully laid out course next door.

|1.03km from city centerThis hotel is very quiet, not far from Lake Taupo. The entrance to the yard is a large lawn. There is a road but not the main road. The surrounding environment is very good. There is a big supermarket within 5 minutes of driving. You can buy some ingredients to cook your own food. There are kitchen pots and pans, a double bed and single bed, suitable for family outings! Parking stops at the door of the room where you live! I will stay here now, and the price is right!

|0.35km from city centerHad the weekend with two other couples staying at Belle Vue Boutique Lodge. From the minute we walked in and were all welcomed by Liz and Steve our amazing weekend started. We were shown around the Lodge and it was more than expected. We were given a bottle of bubbles, cheese platter, box of chocolates and amazing three course dinner (which we could hardly eat... so much beautiful food) and then the next morning such a lovely breakfast. The rooms had stunning views of Lake Taupo and to a very high standard!! Would recommend this for a lovely weekend away with friends or a special night away with partner.

|0.76km from city centerWe were pleasantly surprised by our 2 bedroom unit. Super roomy, 2 huge bedrooms, separate toilet and bathroom. TV had access to login to our Netflix and Neon accounts. Heated pool was a treat and they provided pool towels for us. The spa was a bit dirty and the water wasn't very clear but we still used it and showered afterwards. Great location, and really good for the price, especially when we compared it to the motel we went to in Rotorua which was $50 more a night and nowhere near as nice

The front desk got off work very early, but Ctrip’s order had a problem, and the hotel staff had been helping to coordinate the stay and praised one. It is necessary to criticize the background efficiency of Ctrip, and the hotel will only receive confirmation after a few hours of ordering. There are a lot of accommodation options in Taupo, but this one can still come next time and see many foreigners also live here.

We where greeted with a warm smile and the owner recognized me immediately as I had emailed for our booking. We where taken to our room, heat pump turned on for us and where asked if we need anything. Our room was spacious, clean and very well appointed. We even had a small jar of home baking for us to enjoy. We will definently be staying there again.

Taupo appears to be full to the brim with motels rather than global brand hotels making it really tough for the international traveler to know what’s good. This little treat is about 10 mts walk from the lake front, a couple of km outside the centre (so super peaceful) yet very clean, modern, comfortable and well equipped. We self catered for 2 nights, all the kitchen ware was clean, well prepared and presentable. The bathroom in our case had a shower and a huge spa bath. We had space in 3 rooms for 5, so perfect for families (although then self catering maybe a bit of a pinch)….restaurant within walking distance, super market about 1.5 km away./// Highly recommended….

|0.37km from city centerAs a Hilton Honors member, my stay at the hotel met the usual satisfactory quality. Peter at the front desk was excellent in accommodating our needs, and overall, we had a good time. However, I want to caution future guests to adjust their expectations:
• The location, while quiet, is farther from the center and lakeside, requiring a car and likely keeping you at the hotel in the evening.
• Our room, possibly the least expensive, was extremely small with limited space for sitting or even opening our suitcases.
• Staff training or updated information is necessary; the website mentioned a happy hour, but there was none on Friday. Conflicting details about breakfast and check-out times were provided.
• While amenities were nice, the steam room and sauna floor were dangerously slippery, leading to a hard fall and injury. Additionally, the pool water was not clean, with numerous hairs inside.
• Some equipment, like the coffee machine, was not working.

The service was fantastic our every need was met with warm friendly, efficient service. Highlight was the pool and its Cabana which we made good use of. There were 6 of us so it was fantastic to share drinks and a takeaway meal in the Cabana. Thank you so much for helping to make our weekend so special. Highly recommended!

|1.17km from city centerWe were booked at The Grandeur via an online site for 2 nights for 4 of us. I rung the night before we left to confirm we would be arriving the following day, everything was all sorted and they were expecting us even though they hadn't replied to my email asking for confirmation. The following day (4 hrs into a 6 hr driv)e I get a message to say booking has been cancelled ???? I rung to question and was told even though I selected to pay on arrival they had a direct booking so had given them our room. I advised we were nearly in Taupo and was told we'll sorry you should have the money and pay up front, I explained I did have the money and he could just debit my card, I was given the option on booking to pay on arrival which worked well for us and had never been a problem with any of our previous extensive NZ travelling. He said not my problem and hung up. We then had to park up for an hour to try and arrange accomodation for 4 of us when the whole town was literally booked out apart from the high end hotels. We did manage to find 2 available units but at double the price as had to book 2 units instead of a 2 bedroom. My husband could hear him yelling down the phone at me and being so rude especially when I said I would be sure to warn others of his unprofessionalism. Thankfully we didn't stay there if that's his attitude where a direct booking worth more money involves canceling a traveller's plans on the day as to not have to pay the booking company a commission definately not customer focused. To insult a customer by saying maybe you should have some money is so rude and arrogant as that wasn't an issue. I have since been told the place is disgustingly dirty, mouldy and we had a lucky escape. Be warned do not deal with this guy you could end up sleeping in your car if he gets a better offer for your already booked room.

|0.19km from city centerBeen meaning to stay for years as rest of family have many times. Loved it, BUT....... security needs updating. Maybe they are doing that as toilet security door was missing and so was front access barrier! Had some very suspect people using toilet and shower facilities this morning. Definitely didn't look like guest and didn't have caravan or tent. By the look of the face tattoos looked like and behaved like gang members. Without security gates or doors they will just come in. Also some people had a lot of food- meat stolen from fridge. Sad. :( ALL THAT SAID- it's still a lovely camp. Facilities are clean, and good location next to hot pools and good sites with reasonable privacy on most sites. Would stay again.

|0.94km from city centerWOW!!! what a great place from the minute we got there we were greeted with great service especially the lady at reception she was so lovely and took the time with the kids was a great first impression, when we arrived to the apartment we were amazed at the lovely house with a view is was so nice and clean we had a massive kitchen and lounge which was great as we use that area the most and don’t get me started on the pool area it was so nice we had so much fun in there and it was the perfect temperature not to hot not to cold me and my family had such an amazing time and will definitely be staying again, from a teens point of view this is one of the best places to stay with the most amazing managers.

The only minor problem with the rooms around the pool is that there are a lot of bugs at night, so remember to close the windows if you turn on the lights!
