Two of my friends were getting married at the hotel, and we stayed for two nights around the wedding. The staff were outstanding; so polite and helpful (as I was rushing around trying to get things sorted for the wedding). The bar staff and restaurant staff were amazing too. There was a large group of us there for the wedding, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. The room wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. The double bed was pushed into one corner so my partner had to slide in and out of bed from the bottom. That wasn't a big deal, but it was just a little bit awkward. Also, there were some metal strips screwed into the carpet just outside of the bathroom. One corner of the metal had come away and was poking up. I caught my foot on it a couple of times, but did tell reception so hopefully they've fixed it. This was in room 204. The bathroom was large and reasonably clean. The shower worked well. No complaints about that. The only thing that I did have slight issue with was the staff involved in the wedding. The Master of Ceremonies was more of a hindrance than a help. My friends did not have a traditional wedding, and he couldn't understand what they wanted (even though the whole wedding had been explained to him prior to the day). A few mistakes were made because of this. And the wedding coordinator had a bit of an edge to her, and although was helpful, she didn't seem to do the helping with a positive heart. She wasn't rude, but she wasn't polite either. When it comes to providing a wedding service, no matter how unusual the wedding is, it's important to have staff who are willing to accommodate and support the wedding party and not make things awkward. Other than the few hiccups with regards to the wedding, this hotel was lovely to stay in. The food in the restaurant (we had dinner one evening, and breakfasts on two mornings) was delicious. This could not be faulted. And the room was pleasant, if not a bit outdated.

Had a long weekend staying at Hotel Katherine to explore Suffolk. From the moment that we walked in the door, absolutely everything was superb. COVID-19 measures are very good, our reception was warm & welcoming & check in simple & speedy. We had a first floor bay window room on the front which was well equipped and furnished, and very spacious. Bed was very comfortable and unusually for me when staying away, I slept well. Plenty of well placed plug sockets. During the day, as you would expect, being on the front there was some traffic noise but became very quiet at night so no disturbance from that. Well situated in Lowestoft with a small park across the road so views out to sea through the trees. Parking is on street but we never had any problems finding a space pretty close to/outside of the hotel. It is situated on a one way street but again, not a problem as “the loop” is only a very small one and being one way provides the parking capacity. One way streets seemed pretty common across town. COVID-19 Procedures prevent routine “in room” servicing during stays but our hosts made sure mid stay that we had sufficient supplies. The included breakfast is continental but substantial & more that sufficient to set one up for the day with a mixture of cereals, toast, fresh fruits, pasties & pancakes but cooked breakfast options are available at additional cost for those wanting one. Unusually for a bed & breakfast location, Hotel Katherine offers a guest lounge with an honesty bar carrying a wide range of spirits, beer, soft drinks and wines at very reasonable prices. Another nice touch which differentiates from many similar hotels. All in all, we felt that Hotel Katherine offered tremendous value - if anything, possibly a little underpriced - we’ve certainly paid more per night for comparable/less highly rated packages but in saying that, I have no particular knowledge of local competition so it may be that the charge is competitive against that. The hotel, and town, are well placed for wide exploration of both Suffolk and Norfolk. Weather wasn’t too good over our weekend, so no long beach walks, but we got to Southwold in a little over half an hour; Aldeburgh in under an hour and even one location close to Norwich in about the same.

Came here as a stopover on our way to Aldeburgh. Was very cheap and was supposed to be used back in July, upon ringing up the staff were very understanding of our circumstances and allowed us to rebook to October for free. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. Suitable Covid protocol was in place and I felt very safe. No issues whatsoever during our stay. The room was clean and comfortable and there was no noise from outside. Looking forward to returning.

The Ivy House is set in peaceful surroundings next to Oulton Broads. There are lots of country walks available directly from the hotel, which is a 10minute walk from Oulton Broad South railway station (on the Ipswich to Lowestift line). The hotel is also only a 10minute drive away from Lowestoft, a coastal town well worth a visit. The hotel has extensive grounds to wander round including a charming pond area. There are a variety of rooms available - we stayed in a 'Courtyard room' which was very spacious with comfortable beds, a large flat-screen tv with freeview, tea and coffee making facilities and excellent wi-fi. The bathroom, too, was very spacious with a deep bath tub, a separate powerful shower and plenty of free toiletries. There was plenty of hot water available. All the staff were amazingly friendly and professional (despite finding out they would have to close for 4weeks because of Covid19).The meals we had there were first class with excellent breakfasts including "Full English", eggs Royale & eggs Florentine, porridge, yoghurt etc... The menu in the evening was also excellent - while we were there we had mozzarella &tomato salad, smoked salmon encasing a hot salmon mousse, pork tenderloin with lots of veg, salmon with veg, seabass with crayfish risotto &a wonderful roast beef Sunday dinner along with desserts of vanilla rice pudding &creme brulee! Covid provisions were excellent -all the staff were covered up, there was a one-way system operating throughout the hotel and hand sanitizer at many locations in the main barn, where the restaurant is located. This barn is wonderful -real 'olde England style' and a magnificent setting for a meal. Thoroughly recommended!

To chose to stay in one of the villas overlooking the sea. There were five of us, two adults, two teens and a nine year old. The villa was lovely but took a while to heat up as when we arrived in the evening the heating hadn't been switched on and it was very cold - not great for one of our children who had a bad cold. However, this is being very picky. The villa was really clean, the rooms were lovely, the view magnificent. The coastal walks superb and the pool was fantastic. Lovely and warm and super, super clean, looked after by really friendly lifeguards. We felt the opening hours of 10-4 were plenty if you wanted a swim - which we did, every day! We were near to facilities too. It was just what we needed as a quiet break before the madness of Christmas. What really made this holiday for us, though, were without doubt the staff. They were friendly, accommodating, ready to help and were always ready to help. The people in the village were really friendly too. Always ready with an hello and the corner shop and local shop - superb. Will definitely return.

We really couldn't fault the room we had, the aft cabin.....apart from the views which you can see in the photos from all 4 windows. I think a bit more transparency would be good when booking this room. To say there is a limited river view is stretching the truth. It didn't affect our stay but had we known the views from the windows we may have chosen a different room. The Waveney Inn room was spotless and the bed was super comfortable. There was a good selection of tea, coffee, milk and other beverages as well as biscuits which were stocked up on request. The staff were mostly helpful although when I requested a hairdryer I was told that there should be one in the room but despite searching every drawer and cupboard I didn't find one. It's in a lovely location and suited us well for our boat hire. Very peaceful here. Soap is provided but bring your own shower gel, hair shampoo and conditioner.

Me and my partner had a lovely stay at Travelodge Great Yarmouth, the room was presented well on arrival and the staff were very lovely and polite when we were checking in at the hotel. Th rest of the hotel looked clean and tidy with clear guidances on how they are protecting people during the pandemic. We would stay again!
