We thoroughly enjoyed our one night’s stay. The front desk clerk was open and friendly, offering suggestions and pleasant conversation. Very comfortable and clean rooms. Loved the barn door between the room and the restroom area. Biggest TV I’ve ever found in a hotel room - did not need my glasses!!! Nearby restaurants - that you can walk to - offer food discounts by showing your room key. Breakfast was good with hot options. Hallways are a bit drab, but we did not linger there. The price was excellent value for money.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in October 2022. We are very loyal to Marriott and have logged lots of time in other Courtyards. We love the predictability of these hotels, particularly the nice lobby/lounge area where you can grab a quick coffee and just hang out. But, on the whole, this particular Courtyard was subpar. First: what was good... From the front desk to the cafe, the people who work here were standouts. They truly exemplified customer service excellence (not just with us but also with all the other guests we observed while hanging in the lounge). The staff are huge assets to the hotel. Also, the hotel's location is quite convenient for getting to a variety of restaurants and shopping. Now: what's not so good... The physical plant needs a major refresh/overhaul. Just about everything in there is worn, dirty, outdated, and/or ”tired.” Our room was comfortable and well located but reeked of dampness and mildew. It just didn't feel clean OR up to snuff for this brand. The bathroom needs to be redone and the furniture and flooring all needs to be replaced.

Adequate hotel with friendly staff. Stopped overnight on a long road trip. Was greeted by several signs indicating that they did not serve locals, or allow pets. While I appreciated the lack of a party atmosphere and local one night stands, being greeted by several signs saying who they did not serve was somewhat off-putting and may want to be revisited. The room was clean, bed comfortable, and hallways somewhat dated . Decent place to sleep and no complaints.

The customer service and cleanliness at this hotel were less than subpar. We had to ask for toilet paper, towels, and other room essentials daily. We had a stopped up toilet and were told we could change rooms or would have to wait until the next morning because the front desk employee was unable to locate a plunger. It was the last night of our stay and we had four people in the room. Changing rooms would not have been ideal. We had to locate a plunger ourselves and fix the toilet. We ordered pizza one night, and, as with most hotels, the room trash cans were not large enough for the pizza boxes, so we alerted the front desk and were told they would take care of the trash. The pizza boxes stayed on the patio for 2 nights and were never discarded. One night, a storm came through and blew over some of the umbrellas and tables on the patio. The employees never straightened the patio. They left it in disarray. The patio was an area we used nightly to visit with friends (other guests in the hotel) nightly. I’ve always felt safe choosing Holiday Inn to stay, but, after this trip, I am, now, left with a negative feeling towards the brand. I did rate the hotel with 3 stars because the beds were comfortable (as usual with Holiday Inn), and I felt safe.

Great hotel. Seems to be the only one that’s actually in downtown Altoona. Seems new and modern. Very clean. Lots of parking. Breakfast was better than average for an included one. Restaurants and fast food in walking distance. It’s about a block from Amtrak and there is a pedestrian bridge to the Railroaders Museum which is worth checking out.
