Having come from out of town, we needed a place to stay before we could move into our new house. Because we have a dog, our options were limited. No rhyme or reason for picking this hotel except for proximity to work. Check in goes as planned, no issues. The following morning, I’m unloading things from my car, with my little terrier dog in tow. From across the parking lot, on the second floor of the building next to ours, a lady yells “EXCUSE ME! EXCUSE ME! DID YOU PAY THE PET DEPOSIT?” I said yes. She yells “OKAY BECAUSE THAT BUILDING ISN’T FOR PETS!” I’m like....ok? “WHAT ROOM ARE YOU IN?” I’m stunned at what is happening and like a dummy, in a seedy part of town, I find myself yelling my freaking room number across the parking lot to some random person who may or may not work for the hotel. She yells that she will call my room in a minute. Fine. I get back to my room and the front desk calls to tell me that I’m in the wrong building, since I have a dog with me and that we didn’t pay the pet deposit. She yells me that it will cost about $170 for the deposit for the week and can she charge it to the card on file...AND I’ll have to move to the other building. I call my boyfriend who made the arrangements in the first place and let him handle it. A few minutes later, he calls me and says the hotel was at fault. The reservation indeed showed that we had a dog and even specified which of our two rooms the dog would be staying in. Because they hadn’t charged us the pet fee, he was under the impression that it would be added at the end of the trip. We paid the fee and because the hotel owned up to the error, they didn’t make us change buildings. Terrible way to start the week. Whoever the person was in the other building and the initial point of contact from the front desk were AWFUL. With customer service skills. Both came at me with very aggressive attitudes that made me want to pack up and just sleep in the car for the week. As it turned out, we needed a few more days before we could move in. So we attempted to extend our stay by 4 nights (2 rooms). We had already stayed a full week and got the weekly rate. When we tried to extend the stay, we were going to be charged the full daily rate...that makes no sense. We spoke to two different people and they both gave us the same numbers. It was actually going to be cheaper for us to move to a Holiday Inn (thank the lord) and BOARD our dog separately with a grooming package! I’m still scratching my head how you let this happen. Anyway, our time at ESA is over and I can pretty much assure you that we won’t make this mistake again. Our money is too hard to come by and we try to be careful with how we spend it. Notes: The room smelled like marijuana the whole visit. Insert jokes or whatever. We don’t smoke and it’s tacky for a hotel to carry the skunky smell. Especially when it’s a non-smoking hotel. Your pet area is a disaster. I’m assuming it’s a spot for vagrants to sleep. Luckily m

During the night of my stay, there was heavy rain and this resulted in a leak in the bathroom. The main issue, however, happened the morning of check-out when I went to shower and noticed no water coming out; same with the sink. I called the front desk to ask what was going on and the lady indicated that the water had been turned off so the maintenance crew could work on some pipes. She proceeded to say that I should've received a notice explaining this. I asked where it was supposed to be and she said either under the door or on the bed. There wasn't any notice. Furthermore, she questioned me as though she didn't believe that I didn't receive a notice. (Why would I be calling to find out what happened with the water if I had gotten a notice explaining what had happened with the water?!) Her only response is that she'd have to talk to the person responsible for putting out the notices. As a result, I wasn't able to shower. When I went to check-out, Edward and Jennifer were at the front desk. Since Jennifer was initially on the phone with another guest, I spoke with Edward about the situation and asked for an adjustment on my room bill. He was generally aloof and seemed hesitant to make the change. He first said, "I can take $10 off?" I countered for half. Edward made a remark that I was already there on a discount, which I found both insulting and irrelevant. Jennifer interjected and they said they could take off $20. This was fine, but I felt like there was no empathy about what had happened and also made to feel like I had to beg to get an adjustment. During the exchange, I asked Edward the time frame when this pipework was occurring, which turned out to be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. So they decided it was a good idea to shut off the water during the height of check-out time? Wouldn't it have been a better time frame to do this after check-out and before check-in (12 p.m. - 3 p.m.)? Overall, I just felt like this was poor planning and even worse customer service.

Where do I start. It was cheap but definitely not cheery! Check in was quick and the lady at the front desk was friendly, efficient and amazing but that is where it ended. The room needs a major clean and the bathroom door is ready to fall off. I’m all good for free hanging but when I have to physically fit the door to the frame that is a whole new scenario. Upon entering the room my partner and I noticed an extremely strong aroma of weed. I felt like switching on the Marley and kicking my feet up. This did not dissipate until I emptied a full can of axe into the room (no the ladies did not come a flocking). We left for some dinner and as we arrived back the room reeked of weed once again. Used deodorant to eradicate the lingering smell. It seemed to stay away this time. My partner and I were too tired at this point so we got changed and went to bed. I must say that the bed was unbelievably comfortable, which was great. If you do book this place I recommend ear plugs as the motorway/highway is terribly noisy. Made even worse by the fatal accident that occurred just down the road, you sure can hear those fire trucks coming (emergency service response times were incredibly quick - well done Jackson). So my partner and I literally watched tv until early hours of the morning when it was quieter and we managed to fall asleep. The air conditioning unit was powerful which helped in this heat. In the morning, we had to get up early to continue our mammoth cross country trek. My partner volunteered to shower first but within seconds I was woken further by screams of displeasure. I walked to her aid and was quickly pointed in the direction of pubic hairs which adorned the bathroom walls (One questions how they got up there). Now I could go on and on but I won’t. This Motel 6 could definitely be cheap and cheerful if they just paid a bit more attention to the finer details. Now the area does not feel incredibly safe but they do have a security guard on location but I wouldn’t go wandering. Clean the rooms more and do not just check eye line level. Maybe have some air freshener in the room.

Thanks heavens the staff was nice because we had to change rooms 3 times,The first 2 rooms did not have heat that worked and smelled strongly of chemicals and urine. Man in the room across hall screaming and cursing. 2 doors down from the first room, the hall door looked like someone had tried to break in leaving it badly splintered and damaged. The room we are in had the maids vacuum left in it. Did not feel safe here. I will certainly not ever stay here again and if my husband wasn't trying to get over a major illness and is worn out from all the walking from room to room, I would leave here now. Cannot get on the "free" internet so I'm using my hotspot.

There were several notable things about my recent stay at the Westin Jackson: 1) The hotel seems newly renovated and was nicely designed. 2) Rooms and public areas were spotless and well maintained. 3) There were guitars in the lobby to rent and use in a sound studio, which is rather unique and a nice local touch. 4) There was also an option for a local amenity for members with status (local beers and a cheese tray). 5) The club lounge was rather disappointing--the space was nice, with a top floor view, but the staff member wasn't that on top of things and the selection was equivalent to an interstate roadside hotel and not a Westin--almost no healthy options, and the most standard eggs, milk, etc. 6) The staff (from the front desk and valet) were all extremely friendly and polite. 7) Rooms were very large with plenty of space and attractive design choices. I would definitely recommend the Westin Jackson to anyone staying in the area.

I have stayed here several times over the years for the local antique bottle show and am nothing but pleased with the location since it is so close to the show. The grounds are secure for parking and very well lit for security. The rooms are comfortable and clean and spacious, although the doors can be noisy in the hall. The front desk was professional and courteous and knowledgeable. Breakfast started at 6am which is a BIG BIG plus for us and we do appreciate it, plus breakfast has a great number of choices. I will stay here again anytime I am in the area.

We chose this property 1) because it is near the people and places we came to see, 2) it accommodated our family of 5, 3) it has a pool, and 4) breakfast is provided. It never occurred to me that the bathroom would not have a tub. If you travel with toddlers, you probably find it easier to use a tub than a shower. In the future, I will ask ahead. There is no breakfast. There were carafes with coffee and hot water, but when I poured out water to make tea, it was lukewarm. The parking lot was full, and I saw a number of guests. In the evening I asked about breakfast. There were 4 frozen egg sandwiches in the cooler, and the gal at the desk said she didn't know if or when there would be more. That is all the breakfast that was available for all of the guests. No fruit, juice, yogurt, pastries, cereal boxes. Nothing. So glad I found that out ahead of time!

I have stayed at this hotel two times now, and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Jackson. It is a boutique experience like no other. The rooms are each unique so no two rooms are alike. Spacious and comfortable. The street outside can get noisy, so I would advise ear plugs or a white noise machine (phone app) of some sort if that bothers you. The night manager, Princeton, is an ABSOLUTE treasure and delight. After an extraordinarily stressful day, we asked if we could possibly have access to the roof top garden (it was not "open" that night) and he said YES! And made us cocktails. lol We were in the area for a family funeral and were there six nights. Every night I had the pleasure of exchanging pleasantries with him as he got my nightly ice. ; ) Also had a pleasant encounter with the young lady who does laundry (Asia, I THINK? not sure) Asked us if there was anything we needed. Wonderful. When I talked to the owner about these two employees I learned one has been with them for 12 years and the other for 18. This hotel is doing something right!!! Amazing.
