I picked a near-perfect spot for my first trip to Portland. This place is everything the (positive) reviews have said. Charming, low-key, convenient, cozy, private but with a social/communal vibe. I think it was an especially good place to stay taking my first-ever solo vacation. While it does feel a little strange walking into a house with no one there to greet you (if you get in later during the day) so you feel more like an intruder than a guest, the living room area was very warm and inviting. The welcome e-mail gives you all the details you need to know upon arrival anyway, and it was easy to find my room in the basement. I stayed in the Elliott Smith room for pricing, privacy, and a love for the musician. It had a nice-sized queen bed, antique desk, and was well-lit and simply decorated. While it was less convenient to walk up the stairs to use the restroom off from the kitchen, I didn't find myself having to wait to use it. There are also two other bathrooms upstairs. The clawfoot tubs are neat, but you do have to be careful getting in and out, as they are tall and slippery. It also helps to shower/bathe early in the morning as the hot water seems limited. I decided to move into the Gabriel Garcia-Marquez room for the last two nights of my stay, for a little more space and private bathroom (still very affordable). That room was just as nice, fairly elegant, with a larger king-sized bed, very clean bathroom, and a view of the backyard. The continental breakfast is bagels and pastries laid out on the counter (gluten-free and gluten filled), an assortment of bananas, apples, and oranges, cereal, oatmeal, and coffee ready to go when you wake up. There is juice and dairy/non-dairy milk in the fridge, as well as yogurt. So you've got quick, convenient options. This was also the only time I ever saw staff on the premises, as they were laying out fresh bagels/pastries, cleaning, and doing laundry. So, you don't feel like your privacy is invaded by any means. I just cozied right up in the breakfast nook and enjoyed the cloudy view. I ran into a couple guests in the kitchen, and they were friendly. You pretty much feel like you have the house to yourself. The only time it doesn't feel that way is when people are walking up and down the stairs, as they are old and creaky. But, I never found myself having to knock on doors telling people to keep it down. The location is right in the heart of Division Street, and I lucked out with great weather, so I was within walking distance of plenty of shops, pubs, and restaurants. Hawthorne is just a few blocks away and is a big shopping district as well. Otherwise, from this location, you can catch a Lyft or the #4 bus to pretty much anywhere around town. I can't fault the place for things basically out of their control, e.g. creaky stairs because it's an old house. I can't deduct stars because staff wasn't on the premises, as I was able to figure things out pretty easily (how to get in

March 2020 My husband Bill and I stayed at this place for our 6 day honeymoon in March of 2020 during the Coronavirus outbreak. We had no concerns and had most parks to ourselves. I read every review on this Trip Advisor website regarding the Evermore Guest house. It was obvious to me that those reviews with the lower ratings were from those guests who required more attention and are high maintenance. When we did have questions regarding the Evermore, Ms. Epic, was wonderful in answering all our questions. The owner Chris made himself available as needed and not intrusive, great. The maintenance man, Brock, took care of our concerns without hesitation. Our 2nd floor room and the extra long king size bed was wonderful for us. The bathroom and double shower head in the ball and claw bath tub was a great shower experience. The location of the Evermore was absolutely perfect for us due to all the walking around we did for the different nearby restaurants. We walked a minimum of 12,000 steps every day in getting to know the neighborhood and the many parks. We enjoined the wide variety of breakfast items, the fresh coffee brewed every morning, and the Room and the refrigerator for us to leave our own meal items made this a wonderful stay. Succinctly speaking, this 50+ year old bride loved the ambiance, the quaintness and privacy. My husband, loved the price and location. Chris, I know you will keep up this beautiful 1909 house in this 2020 attitude. Warmest regards, The Bonds

In Portland for a conference and I brought a give away thumb drive in to drop off for Phil, the front desk nite shift worker. Mr. Kavir, day shift, told me to go to Phil's room as he was not sleeping but was... and here he inserted common street jargon for the solitary activity he was engaged in. Caught me off guard and was of such a nature that it is hard to relate without offense. I considered that Mr Kavir is likely from a society where the street trade is a familiar affair but it is inappropriate to say such a thing to a customer. I never saw Mr. Kavir again and that was the best part of my stay at Eastside. A good resolution would be to know that he was canned or put in a position where his behavior would be appropriate. Like pimping. This was astonishingly wrong!

We were told that smoking was not allowed in the rooms, however, our room smelled like cigarette smoke upon arrival. Additionally, this may not be known by the hotel, but we booked through Hotels.com and had filtered for hotels offering free parking, and the Jupiter came up so we did not realize there was a $15 fee for parking. Related, the trek between the parking garage and the hotel was a bit of a pain (on separate blocks), and there was no clear way to enter the garage when not in your car, so we would key in and walk down the car ramp, which seemed a bit unsafe. Another marketed bonus in our Hotels.com reservation was 2 free drinks upon arrival at the Jupiter, which I assume was not offered due to the bar being closed. Just another hiccup that might be good to clear up for future guests. Overall we liked the hotel space and staff, but we were bummed with the surprises like that smokey smelling room, parking fee (likely just a hotels.com mixup), bar closure, and parking garage difficulties and fees.

Most importantly, our king size bed was VERY comfortable, as were the sheets and comforter. Check in was a breeze and the room was clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was a bit dated and small, but still clean and very functional. Due to COVID-19, breakfast consisted of beverages and packaged muffins. Location was very convenient to the airport. There are a number of fast food and budget restaurants within a half mile radius of the hotel. Price was among the best in the airport area - great price for the value received!

Ahhh, where do I begin . Yes this place is huge , old and very blue . It was the place in its hay day . It’s has all the makings to be a star, yet missed the boat on so many levels . The room are huge , one can get its steps in just trying to find the room . The biggest problem here was the staff , I have never seen a more immature and unprofessional bunch of people . It seems like someone left a bunch of high school kids alone at home . Front desk always left abandoned, or they were off chatting and giggling off near by . They walk around pretended to do stuff yet never gets done . If you have to do laundry , no way do they stock up with quarters for the machine . The pool area , the guy walk in looks but doest pick up any dirty towels or Replace towels , garbage cans full on weekends all day . The whole pool area never got cleaned properly. I wiped down the sauna one day for my sake . Housekeeping another joke, we were day 6 days maybe the garbage got emptied once in a while after we asked them to do it , they basically made the bed with the old sheets and left . No cleaning the bathroom, replaced the towels but not the soap . The restaurant where the employee hide in the corner booth and chat it up . If all the staff that worked there including the “managers that should all be fired” and started with new ones that actually cared . If the staffed cared just a little more this place would actually be great to stay at . It has room service , a restaurant, full bar and the best a cigar lounge that has drink service and cigars with can buy . It had a steam-room, sauna , hot tub and a lap pool . They let your dog stay . Everyone here has given up and just don’t care , they have a bad leader , the place has all the potential to be a great place , it’s in a good location with big rooms . It’s actually sad to see a business ran like this .

I started an 11 day trip along the Oregon coast here and spent our last night in Oregon here also. LOVE it here. The room and bathroom are extremely clean. Beds are comfortable. Small continental breakfast of coffee, tea, granola bars, pastry and fruit, just enough to hold you over until lunch. This motel is so close to the freeways which take you anywhere fast. Wonderful location to the airport, so close and convenient. Out of my 10 nights staying in different motels this was by far one of the best and the price is so right!!!!!

I really feel that this hotel is not worthy of the "Sheraton" brand! Let’s talk about it. I went to the airport and waited for the free shutter of his home for a full half hour. I didn’t expect Portland to be so cold at night, the clothes were worn less, and the dog was frozen! Then the car came, the driver did not get off the luggage, the whole master, so I also decisively did not tip! When I arrived at the front desk of the hotel, I checked in and unfortunately met a girl suspected of racism. When I saw that we were Chinese, I immediately stretched my face a lot and went to the room in a bad mood. I gave the most remote room on the first floor. I walked far away and said that I opened the curtains and saw only one wall! Oh, really depressed! I think about ten o'clock in the evening, I am too lazy to change the room again, ready to wash and sleep, and found that the sewer is not working! It’s really a slap in the face, and I’m going to call the front desk for repairs. Fortunately, this time the repairman came faster, and finally took a shower before 11:00! Is this like the Sheraton Hotel? I really doubt that I lived in the fake Sheraton! Also, another disadvantage of living on the first floor is that the restaurant fume on the first floor of the hotel is filled directly into the room, but there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom! So accompanied by the smell of soot, we spent a night unhappy! I really don't recommend this hotel!

Breakfast is the least variety I have ever experienced, only square bags, breakfast cereals, milk, yogurt, coffee, tea, no more! Had a 1 night stay reservation. Once we got there, the front desk area was quite narrow (especially with luggage) but had lavish appointments. The staff at check in was not friendly and very pretentious. Once we got to our room, it was nicely decorated but quite small for the price. Plus almost everything cost a fee, so keep an eye out for that. We grabbed a small appetizer from the restaurant to try it out, the food was overpriced and not good. Our server was cold to us, similar to the front desk staff, and it took us more than once to flag him down in a non busy restaurant, he never checked in on us. We walked around the city for a bit because we were there on business. I got back to the hotel restaurant, and asked if I could have a cup of water. The bartender told us they were not allowed to give out a cup or glass of water, even for hotels guests. I said what if I bring my own cup, they said no, hotel policy. We checked out the next day, only to find out that the hotel charged us a resort fee and additional fees for services we didn't use. So that was a struggle. Pros: They have a beautiful library area that you can sit in and borrow a book to read while there and get work done quietly. Cons: Everything else about the hotel unfortunately. Overall this place is over priced and the staff is not friendly at all. If you have to stay here, please triple check your bill, lots of duplicitous fees. I won't be returning and cannot recommend.

Went to Portland OR September 7 til the 18th. Was visiting my daughter and spent 6 days in the Portlander Inn as I didn't wish to overstay my welcome. I loved this hotel. From registration to checkout I had nothing but a great experience with the staff. They were welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure I was satisfied with my stay. This hotel met all my needs. There is a 24 hour grocery store, a laundromat and movie theater. The hotel offers free breakfast from a limited menu but if you order off the full menu you will receive $6 off the price. Please remember to tip the server off the full price. I made the mistake of adding more food to my free breakfast. There was way too much food. Be prepared. I am returning to Portland in May 2020 and plan on staying there again.
