very very good. Having encountered the most speechless staying experience in Edinburgh before arriving in York, all the staff at this hotel-really, all, were very friendly, polite and pleasant. Talk about the room, although it is an old building but has just been renovated, so the room facilities are modern, warm and comfortable, and the full set of baths are all cole & lewis. We lived on the 3rd floor this time without an elevator, but after we checked in, we went out to play. When we returned to the hotel, our luggage was already delivered to the room. Opposite York Church, and easy access to other attractions such as Butcher Street, there is a Costa across diagonally. The hotel's own restaurant seems to be small and well-known, but we only stayed for one day and really had no chance to try it. About 10 minutes walk from the train station. It should be the most comfortable stay in this half month.

My partner and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Lamb and Lion. It should have been 4 nights but we had to leave early due to lockdown. We were worried about going due to this but as it was to celebrate my birthday went ahead anyway. So glad we did. The staff at the hotel made us so welcome, our room was small but warm and cozy with everything we needed. Bed was comfy and the shower had plenty of hot water. The view from our window was amazing...you could see the York Minster and hear the clock chimes. We had a lovely cooked breakfast and delicious evening meals, the food was first class. Also the hotel was in prime position for you to walk around the beautiful city of York. Will will be back hopefully next Summer. Thankyou to all the staff especially in these difficult times.

A special family room, two adults and two children. Breakfast seems to be all in the UK. The bread is very crisp and delicious, sausages, potato cakes, yogurt, mushrooms, because the British food is expensive and unpalatable, the breakfast is the most satisfying. Overall the breakfast was very good. Yorktown is very small and can be strolled in one day, but if you live for a long time, you can develop outside the city, at least strolling around York's Outlets, Howard's married Howard Castle. Hotel location is very good, 10 minutes walk from the train station, you can see York Minster by the bridge, there is a museum park at the bridge. There are also many stations around.

Booked for our Anniversary celebration. Slight confusion upon arrival with payment for rooms as booking had a pending payment showing in bank account and we were requested to pay again, at the time its wasn't explained properly for the reason why and caused slight worry the first night, the manager explained better the next day and only one payment was taken. We arrived check in time at 2clk and was told roast dinner was served until 4pm, we had a roast but was very disappointed, it was dry and yorkies and roast potatoes were burnt, we ate again later whilst out as we were hungry. The room was dreadful, really dated, and the wardrobe smelt of old damp wood. The towels they left us were revolting, stained threadbare old old towels not fit for use, I went out and purchased some for our use, this needs addressing and I felt it should of been obvious. There was no information pack in the room advising of facts such as, alone in building as guests at night, Wifi information, what you are entitled to at breakfast. No emergency contact for any potential problems with the room or facilities. Half used toilet rolls, we had 3 opened 1 half others quarter rolls, not replaced across our 2 night stay, again purchased our own as we wasn't sure when they were last handled and had concerns for Covid measures. Rooms were cold and was asked on the last day if we were warm enough and was told they could have boosted the heating for an hour in the day had we needed it, again information that should be perhaps in info pack in room. The shower was very good. Breakfast was also very good and a good amount, you are entitled to a small one with your room, they have a drinks machine in the morning but we wasn't sure if allowed more than 1 drink. The cocktails were very good and worth the money and the bar staff were very friendly. The location is amazing, right on the doorstep of the centre. This building is very old and interesting, although no structural changes can occur it is in desperate need of interior update. Upon our last day we were given cards for other property options they have to rent, maybe quality not quantity should be considered, it is a beautiful location, and we thoroughly enjoyed York its a lovely and interesting town.

Booked this pub because they advertised their own car park. The car park is to the rear of the pub in a yard used by other businesses too. Each parking space was designated by a metal post concreted into the ground with locked chains between each space. Not one of the posts was at 90 degrees to the ground, all at various angles. Someone came to unlock one space for us. My husband ended up 'grinding' the passenger door of our car on one post as he was trying to keep a few inches clear on the driver's side.in fact we couldn't open the passenger door. When we checked in, we mentioned the fact that we had damaged our car.....'sorry about that' was the reply. After unpacking I went to find the manager, to invite him to view the damage. I said my husband had damaged our car when parking because of the angle of the posts. Upon viewing the car, he asked if it was me who had been driving! When I said no, he asked if I had been directing my husband!!!!!!! Talk about male chauvinism. Then he said my husband must have been speeding when he parked . His parting remark was that the posts have been like that all the time he'd been there, over 30 years. Later as we were leaving to visit an exhibition in York, my husband questioned his remark about the posts being like that for over 30 years. He then said well the delivery drivers do knock them occasionally. Back in our room, the heating wasn't working. Radiator cold, and no heat in the pipes feeding it. We mentioned the fact as we left the pub in the evening to go to a concert. 5 hours later, when we got back, still no heat. My husband did find the manager and he did fix the problem. A shame our visit has been marred by all this as the premises are well placed, just outside the city walls, a quaint old building. And the poached eggs on toast for breakfast were delicious. But we won't be back

Just walk to the right from the train station and walk for less than ten minutes (with children, not fast), press the doorbell to enter, the gentlemen received are very enthusiastic, and they reported our order when they saw us. Specially waiting for us, and then introduced the main parts of the hotel in detail. The room is warm, warm and clean, but the floor is creaking when walking, and the sound insulation is not very good. After all, it is old. There is a small garden downstairs. I visited it after breakfast. It would be beautiful if the weather is good. The breakfast is a very authentic English breakfast. Fried eggs and sausages are made fresh. It feels like some locals come here for breakfast. The family room has two beds, one large and one small. After checking out in the morning, I stored the luggage, and came back early in the afternoon to pick up the luggage. The service staff enthusiastically found us a living room, let us rest while watching TV, and took me to the kitchen to make our own tea and drink. In short, in terms of price, it is not cheap, the comfort is good, the service is very good, and the location is good (especially for passengers arriving at the train station at night).

A lovely hotel, very clean, good quality furniture, though a little dated. Rooms rather small but nicely decorated. Bed comfy but a bit high, good quality bedding. No lift, which was a bit of a problem as my mobility is limited, and the first floor bedrooms were up 2 small flights of stairs. The staff were very friendly and helpful, They kindly changed our first room as it had a bath, which I couldn't get in to, for a room with a walk in shower. The lounge and bar area was pleasant and comfortable, although a little cool. We didn't eat there as the restaurant was fully booked, so can't comment on food or dining area. It's out of the town centre but only took about 15 minutes to walk, probably less for a younger, fitter person. All in all a very nice hotel.

This is a unique establishment, with some lovely old features in the main building. The self catering apartments, in which we stayed, are very spacious and practical and clean. Couple of niggles for me being that we had a standard double bed which we now find just too small for a good night sleep. Also, shower curtain in the cubicle which I am not a fan of as it’s quite a small shower. Other than that, it’s a great base for exploring the area. I did not like the fact that the front door was locked when we arrived and we had to ring the bell, makes you feel like a nuisance. The car park for the accommodation is a little awkward if you choose the gated area at the back.Fine at the main car park however. The owner is a nice guy, but comes across as distant initially and you have to drag conversation and information out of him a bit. It became apparent that this is his way and he clearly works hard. The small pub he runs in the evening is a pleasant way to pass the evening and he cooked us a very nice breakfast at very reasonable rates. All in all a positive stay and I award five stars as it’s also very reasonably priced.

Stayed here for 3 nights last week & found it an absolute peaceful pleasure away from all the crowds & Covid confusion . Even though its in a fairly remote village, the Covid rules & regulations were all properly in place but this didn't detract at all from our enjoyment because the staff were all so friendly , welcoming & efficient , the bedroom was clean & very comfortable , the beer & wine were absolutely first class , & the food, both breakfast & evening meal ,was excellent. The beer garden on the quiet village green is the perfect place to relax - very best wishes to all at the Royal Oak - 10 / 10 ! .

The first time I experienced the Youth Travel, I almost fled in the middle of the night. There was a boy who brought the girl back. After more than an hour, the people in the room sighed. This quality is really uneven and feels pitiful. Such a private matter can only be solved in a dormitory. What fun is there? ! The hostel is in the old building next to the city gate. There are more than 10 people, but there is also a small bathroom. The overall sanitation situation should be OK. Anyway, I didn’t dare to take a bath. After I fell asleep, I got up early and fled. .

The location is 15 minutes from the railway station. It is not difficult to walk. When you look at the scenery, you can see a section of the city wall, then you will walk to the bridge of the Us River and see a tower. York is not big, the location is only ten minutes away from the butcher's street, the city wall, and the cathedral. When you are tired on the street, you can go back to rest and come out. There are so many places to eat and drink next to us. The two of us are free to walk, eat, and buy. The breakfast at the hotel is definitely a highlight, very good, with burritos, salads, fruit, bread, cereals, yoghurt and more. Facilities, services, and sanitation are of a medium level but acceptable. I sincerely tell you that York’s stuff is even cheaper than Edinburgh’s tourist street. If you don’t believe it, you can try it.

What a great find! Literally just a few minutes walk to major attractions, the Masons Arms offers the warmest welcome. Free parking, and a terrace looking over the river!! Staff and hosts are very friendly and happy to do all they can to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Our room (formerly old stables) is at the back, therefore road noise is blocked. It is clean, warm and VERY comfortable. Food is outstanding, I had the sea bass today which was delicious. My partner had a steak sandwich for a snack, again very tasty, and the prices more than reasonable. Looking forward to the rest of our stay. Had a great two night stay here whilst attending a concert at The Barbican. The venue was extremely close by and it was great to just stroll around the corner before the show and have a short stroll back afterwards. We stayed in a double room on the top floor, the room was very clean and comfortable, there was a good selection of biscuits, tea, coffee etc, even decaf which was very welcome, sherry as well! The bed was very comfortable and the room was nice and warm, it was very chilly in York in November and we welcomed the cosy room after exploring the city. The breakfast was very tasty, good selection, pre booked the night before and the hot food was ready exactly on time. Free parking as well. We found ourselves after much research booking the Harmony House b&b for a trip to York. When we arrived there was ample parking outside and on arrival we were greeted by Lyn who we found to be a fabulous host, we were shown around the property and to our lovely spotless room (Poppy) that had plenty of space with a ensuite shower. We went for a walk over to St. Helens Church and across the bridge over the river then returned to Harmony House. Lyn had earlier offered to make some sandwiches should we want a snack. In addition, we were welcomed by some homemade brownies made by Lyn which were delicious with a cup of tea. We had a good nights sleep in a very comfortable bed and went down for breakfast which to be honest was the nicest breakfast we'd had in a long time (see photo) which set us up nicely for the day. They also have a tearoom that we hope to experience on our next visit - the homemade cakes look amazing! We will look forward to returning to Harmony House for any visit to North Yorkshire in the future.

The Victoria Hotel was such an amazing place to stay. Michelle and Terry were super friendly and helpful. We arrived earlier than check in time – not an issue, we decided to have some food and Michelle made us the best chip butties ever! The room was lovely and clean, bed and pillows were really comfy. Had a heater, fan, mini fridge, and the ‘usual’ tea and coffee making facilities –but in a really lovely pirate chest type box! Free wi-fi was super easy to access. Helpful sheet in the room about the code to get in after hours, wi-fi code and host’s contact number if needed. Really great. Also a great touch was a sign on the door with a reminder about the checkout time! Great as I can never remember if it is 10, 11 or 12 depending on which hotel/day of the week! Parking was fab, onsite and CCTV. Construction work was happening but there was no noise preventing sleep. Location is 10mins from town and 5 mins from the walls. Everything was laid out really well and felt Covid-safe, helping with the relaxing. We had a really great stay and will be returning.

Don't have any expectations for any international five-star hotel in the UK. The price of this hotel is the cheapest this trip. After all, it is a small town with the smallest rooms. I drove 350 kilometers from Edinburgh to York, and then drove 350 kilometers from York back to London. York is a small town. It’s enough to stay for one night, but there is nothing to go around. Room: Shows 20 square meters, the actual maximum is 15 square meters, and the two boxes can barely be opened flat. Service: Call room service/house keeping at 8:30 in the evening but no one answers, no one goes to reception directly~~~ Parking: There is a special hotel parking lot with few parking spaces. When we went there was only a marginal position, but we did not charge us for parking Breakfast: Book a day in advance as long as 12 pounds per person, ordering buffet, it is strongly recommended to book hotel breakfast, because the whole street is not open in the morning~~

A chain of hotels, the first floor seems to have a swimming pool. The room is not very big, but the bathroom is dry and wet, and it feels a bit like a wall when going to the bathroom. The bed was a bit small, like the single bed in the bedroom at the university, and the quilt was small. The two single beds were quick together and made a big bed like a bed. We stopped at the Premier Inn (Bilbrough) on the 30th September 2020 for the last night of our little golf tour of West Yorkshire. At £29 for 2 of us in a twin room you cant really fall off. I don't think ive been to a bad Premier Inn and like all others nice and clean with plenty of hot hot running water. The only issues as most could say is that we are going through a pandemic at the moment so restrictions are imposed in most things you are doing. The breakfast is no longer self service but you still get unlimited food so its not a big issue. If you like to eat more than most people you could feel a little out of sorts asking for more and more food when your plate is empty. We had a decent cooked breakfast so I have no complaints there. The bar is open on a night time until 9-30pm however you have to take your drinks to your room. We fancied a pint but wasnt going to take them to the room so we passed on it. Nice comfy beds and fluffy pillows so we slept in peace without A64 traffic noise in the background. Friendly staff and really helpful at breakfast time. Cant pick any faults as we were satisfied with the hotel and the service.
