We spent a week here. We wanted somewhere we we could explore an area of France we had never visited as well as go exploring in Belgium too. This hotel is really set up of business travel. It’s reflected in their price, room size and how the hotel restaurant is ran (closed Friday evening till Monday evening), breakfast is available every day but evening meals are not. The room was very clean. The a/c in our room was not very powerful and our room got quite stuffy. The cleaners were very friendly and polite. The hotel staff were professional. The reception is only manned till 17:00. There is a large bakery practically next door which is open till late (19:30 ish). There are a variety of restaurants/fast food outlets near the train station. We ate at the hotel restaurant in the evening twice. The other nights we bought bits and bobs from the supermarket and bakery. 500 meters away is a laundrette which is open from 8am till 8pm which we used. I would recommend having a car if you were to stay here so you can go and explore further a field. We have had a lovely holiday exploring this part of France and Belgium.

Stayed here for a number of weeks now, and very much prefer this hotel to the Ibis in Maubeuge. On the negative side the breakfast is basic, and could do with some improvement, but the hotel’s positives make up for this. The staff are very friendly, from the receptionist through to the restaurant and bar staff. The food is good and the restaurant is quite often busy with outside customers, as well as guests. Restaurant staff are polite, friendly and a credit to the hotel. The owners, who also own Piccolo Mondo restaurant, and their family also all make a point of coming across to greet customers and guests, even coming across to us when we were sat out of the way in the bar area. The rooms are a decent size, showers good, and in good weather the terrace rooms have a nice area to sit out on and relax.

Love this Campanile, great location for access to both France and Belgium in the areas we visit most often. This is one of many stays here. The staff are polite, friendly and approachable. Good parking for our van. Lovely walks on the doorstep around the fortifications. First time with our dog and it was no problem at all ! We ask for a ground floor room and this is always provided. Keep up the good work and we will continue to stay with you !
