Porta Marina This place is well located but difficult to find. The signage is flat against the wall so difficult to spot. There is no bar/lounge. The room I had was noisy due to the restaurant below. It is clean and tidy. However, during the six nights that I was there, no sheets were changed, no towels were changed, no bins were emptied, no toiletries renewed and there were no toilet rolls supplied. I requested more toilet rolls but they never arrived. The service offered by whoever owns the place was zero. Whoever is in charge of the place checked me in and then disappeared. I paid almost 500 euro for the room and that is all I got. Unfortunately I paid before I arrived so there was little I could do. Buyer beware! Stay at this place at your own risk. One or two nights would be fine as there is all you need in the room for a short stay. The free internet was not very good either. I have written several reviews for TripAdvisor. I am not a complainer. If I can save someone else from the lack of service offered by this place then so be it.

We stayed here from 13 untill 17 August and loved every minute. If you arrive outside the provided check-in hours, just warn the owner in advance and he will welcome you with a smile! Upon arrival, the owner - Sergio - was very helpful and gave us a lot of advice (how and what to visit in the area, restaurants etc). If you have questions, you can always text or phone him! Even though the building is old (which may result in Some odd noises at night), the room was very nice (clean, spacious, wifi, airco). Housekeeping every day (fresh towels and turnover). Parking is possible in the streets (blue lines if possible) or in a public garage at 10min walking from the hotel. La Spezia is great for visiting the Cinque terre Rivièra (Direct Ferries and trains)! In a nutshell: loved it!

We came to La Spezia to visit Cinque Terre and the villages around. The guesthouse is just 7 minutes walk from the station and 5 minutes from the place were boat to Porto Venere and Cinque terre leave. We chose the hophopboat which took us also next to the island of the gulf (we got a discount saying we were from 6th land). The guesthouse is brand new, spacious and very comfortable (big bed, good pillows, large shower) much better than the average Italian guesthouse. Plenty of restaurants are nearby. Nice that the rooms have names in the local dialect

The location is very good. You can reach the food street by walking 500 meters, and you can see Nana steak at another intersection. I personally think it is great ~ There is a Japanese food in the food street—Sakura, lunch 12.5 euros / person, dinner 20 euros / person, ingredients fresh! And any point, there are Chinese people, very kind! Went for lunch at noon, the owner warmly taught us how to get in the car, great

This was a great surprise during our visit to Cinque Terre. Villa Marcella is a comfortable and clean place. The pool is huge, but only pay the extra fee to access if you’re staying longer than 2 days (or you’ll have to decide between the swimming pools and the Terre). Walking distance to the train station.

The hotel is located on the edge of the yacht harbour and is a very clean hotel. The service staff's attitude is good and humorous. It is a bit far from the hotel to go to the Cinque Terre. You can choose to buy a scenic ticket to take the train, or you can buy a ticket at the pier. For my military enthusiasts, I was delighted to see that five Horizon-class air defense destroyers docked near the military port were visible from the hotel window. This was the best night in Italy for 15 days, on Easter night, seeing a group of Christians doing mass, dining at a restaurant opened by a local people near the hotel, very authentic Italian meals and red wine. The hotel bed has two data line interfaces without converters, which is very considerate.

GOOD: - The check-in system! We arrived super late (02h00) from Milan, and we had no worries! On the day before they sent us the code for the outside building door and a code for a lock where we would find our room key. - The room was spacious and with all the necessary amenities. The next morning, we asked for an iron and by the end of the day, it was in our room! - Breakfast! This was one of our concerns because we had read they didn't have much choice! First of all, you must understand that this is a BnB and not a hotel, but still, we were very pleased with the breakfast. Although it is mostly made up of sweets (it would be nice to have some bread) we cannot complain about the variety (milk, yogurt, coffee, fruit, cereals, toast, cakes, jams, etc). - The daily complimentary bottles of water in the fridge are a very nice touch! - Parking. We were able to park for free in the streets around the block from PM to AM, and during the day we would drive to the central train station and park the car there. We used EasyPark app to pay for the street parking, which enabled us to keep track of our parking costs and top up whenever necessary. - Market on the back of the building. BAD: - The curtains. They should definitely find a different system to block the light from entering the room. - Soundproofing. We could hear most of the noise coming from the street.

Practical Tips: You can take the elevator, don't pull the luggage down the steps! The hotel is just opposite the train station. The hotel brand can be seen from the main entrance of the station. The station square is so small that it feels 50 meters. Out of the right side of the station there is a glass room is the elevator, do not turn left! I chose to make a mistake, left to drag the suitcase and went down the stairs, my heart. When coming out of the hotel, the front desk pointed out to us where the elevator was. But I don’t know when I go. The room is the level of the guest house. It is good to make a living. It is close to the train station, convenient for a car, and it will take a few minutes to save time.

This place was perfect for me. It is in Volastra, above the town of Manarola, and thus is much quieter than the more touristy towns of Manarola et al. The view of the Mediterranean and olive groves from my room was amazing. I had good internet in my room --- I'm not sure why another reviewer mentioned there wasn't any internet in the rooms because there is. There are only two places to eat in Volastra, so you have to plan dinner in advance (either make reservations for one of the Volastra restaurants or plan on eating in Manarola), but that was a small price to pay as far as I was concerned. There's a shuttle bus between Volastra and Manarola, and from Manarola you can take the train to the other Cinque Terre towns. The hotel owners will give you the shuttle schedule, and the shuttle is free if you have the Cinque Terre card. Or you can take a lovely walk through the olive groves and vineyards down to Manarola. Volastra is great in terms of accessing the trail to Corniglia (another beautiful hike through vineyards along the coastal bluffs). I enjoyed the breakfasts --- there was plenty to choose from and I was able to start my day well-fueled. The patio overlooking the sea was wonderful. If I ever come back to the Cinque Terre, I am definitely staying here again.

The owners met us at the property at ah agreed time through prior messages before arrival. They were very friendly and thorough with their explanations in excellent English. Check in was smooth as we had prepaid our room and the residence consists of 5 rooms on the same floor. The room itself (number 2) was spacious and very clean/bright. There was a small fridge and a small wardrobe as well as a TV (Italian channels only). The bed was comfortable although it squeaked a lot every time you changed position! The bathroom was very practical and the shower very modern with plenty of hot water. I would recommend you bring your own toiletries as we ran out of the ones provided very quickly. Fresh towels on demand. Room cleaned everyday. We received tokens for our breakfast which consisted of on coffee and one pastry served at two of the local bars in the area. Check out was easy, simply by leaving the keys on the room door as we left. There was a handy elevator to bring luggage up and down to floor 2.

Very close to the train station, not far away, if it is smooth, it will arrive in 10 minutes (because you still need to find a way, google can navigate), if you are already familiar, you can basically reach the train station within 5 minutes. The facade is a bit small, but the restaurant is very large, and the number of rooms is also very large. Although the whole room is somewhat old, it is clean and comfortable, and it is a very large-scale hotel. The hotel is located in the big market and in the corner of the alley is the "Chongqing Impression" Chinese restaurant, very convenient. Breakfast is OK, you can use it yourself, it is a good choice for travelers who want to eat enough. This home is worth recommending. I will come back next time. Responsibility Assessment Chiu

My wife and I visited this part of Italy for 9 nights recently, spending 5 nights here while visiting the Cinque Terre whose villages are just a 8 to 30 minute train ride away. This is a great base for the Cinque Terre, being just 10 minutes walk from La Spezia Centrale train station. It is also near some great local restaurants where one can eat fairly inexpensively. Massimo and Cynthia (the owners) welcomed us to the apartment, which is small but perfectly formed with a very comfortable firm bed and shower. A TV is provided but I couldn't find any English-language channels or programmes? There are tea/coffee facilities in the room along with a small fridge with free water and little cartons of fruit drink. Being big tea-drinkers with our own stock of PG Tips, we asked Massimo where we could buy some fresh milk (Latte intero in Italian), and he popped out and purchased some for us! Vouchers are provided for breakfast to be taken at a busy cafe around the corner (Dolci Magie), and typically comprises of a fresh croissant (with chocolate or custard if you wish), a cappuchino and fruit juice. I was struck by just how quickly the locals breakfast, often standing at the counter to wolf down a pastry and down their coffee (it is never served hot as in the UK, always just warm!). Anyway, a good, inexpensive and quiet base for exploring this part of Italy with some nice walks nearby.

High quality accommodation, elegant, well equipped and clean apartments, facing the great view to the marble mountains of Carrara. The pool is very convenient for days of relaxing from the sightseeing, also enjoying the view and amongst the wonderful surroundings, offering the chance of listening to the birds singing carelessly. Personalized service by the owners, including a presentation on the nearby sights, recommendation and booking of the best restaurants in the area (one in walking distance), fresh tomatoes, directly from the garden, and last but not least, they even organize a weekly event of Aperitivo, at which local food such as fresh pesto, focaccia, cheese, bruschetta and own produce of olive oil is tasted. A unique place for an unforgettable holiday! One detail to be noted, the accommodation is in 10 min driving or 20 min distance by bus to the La Spezia train station.

The suite on offer was spacious and well appointed, tho at times it seemed almost too modern (there were no analog switches anywhere and most of the digital touch panels were fidgety), auto lights had a bad habit of switching off at odd intervals and for no reason. Bathroom fixtures were shiny but wobbly lending to an overall sense of cheapness and "trying too hard". Beddings however were comfortable and everything was clean. Location is also nowhere near the central station, a 15 minute brisk walk (closer to 30 with a little-one in tow), easier to take the local bus. What turned the property from fancy but far, decidedly to the negative, was the careless cleaning staff, who overturned our neatly-organized luggage, causing a huge mess and necessitating a full re-pack. Worse, some of our disheveled belongings were actually damaged by the way they were handled, and now need to be replaced. If you're in La Spezia as a launching point to Cinque Terre, aim for something closer to the train station, perhaps a professionally-managed hotel with trained staff who know how to treat guest belongings.

The reception desk and the room are not in the same place. The entire homestay is in one of the four-story houses in another building, which is a bit hard to find. The elevator is like a privately installed elevator with a small space. It can only hold two people and luggage at a time. Breakfast is to go to another place to eat bread, it is very simple and simple, only a drink and a bread. A Japanese buffet in La Spezia is great! The boss is Chinese and there is no barrier to communication, haha. The price is not expensive, the taste is very good, and there are a lot of varieties.

A small hot plate (which we didn’t use) a nice coffee maker and pods (could have used more pods) a *breakfast* of crackers, cornflakes, yogurt jams and jellies. The air conditioning worked well and the bathroom was well equipped and clean. My only slight negative is our room looked into a neighboring patio, and with sheer drapes in our room, felt a little awakened! Other than that, Giuseppa was a dream. Self-driving tour, the location is a bit remote. The service is not bad, the explanation is very detailed when you check in. Breakfast is in the outdoor garden, there are not many choices, and some are limited. Pros: The room is large enough to accommodate at least 5 people in the suite. Suitable for families, fully equipped, and air conditioned. It is convenient to cook, the tableware is complete, and it is very clean. There is an underground garage, but be sure to be careful when you enter the door. Disadvantages: In addition to the city fee, a cleaning fee of 6 euros is also charged. The quilt is not enough. If you need to, please greet the front desk in advance when you check in. The room is particularly close to the railway, and the sound is louder, so it is easy to be carefully chosen by the awakened friend.

The room: We stayed in a triple room. It was a good size for three people. The rooms were very new and immaculate. The room we stayed in had the best air conditioning and wifi of anywhere we stayed in Italy. The shower pressure was a bit lacking and was the only real downside to the room. Though the hotel owner's weren't onsite, the rooms were cleaned daily. Check in: The check-in for this hotel was a little awkward, due to the owner not being on site - but this was something that we knew going in. We called her when we arrived and she came to meet us about 10 minutes later. This could have been a downside if we didn't have international calling. The breakfast: The breakfast here was fresh every morning. It was not a buffet but they had platters made to order. On the first day we were able to get both a savoury and a sweet platter, which together was filling but on our second day it was busier and we were only able to get a sweet platter which we found light compared to our normal fare. Service: Both owners were very helpful and were able to supply us with directions and even helped us purchase train tickets for Cinque Terre. In regards to the breakfast, this is a new hotel and during my stay they were definitely still working out the kinks but it was clear they care about their guests and are trying to make sure that everyone has a good stay. Location: We used this hotel as a home base while we explored Cinque Terre and it was really ideal for that. We were a ten minute walk from the train station (which was great when we arrived too), the trains to Cinque Terre were very frequent, and nearby there were many restaurants.
