Hotels Near Tonkatsu Makino In Kanuma Review
It is a business hotel located in front of Utsunomiya Station, which is ideal for the base for business and sightseeing around Utsunomiya. From the interiors of the front desk and restaurant, you'll think that this hotel is high-class. But single rooms are typical business hotels themselves. The rooms are simply decorated and somewhat small. The narrowness of the bathroom is even more pronounced(Some people don't think it's uncomfortable). If the room is high grade, you'll not feel such narrowness. You may feel the oldness in the room, but it is clean. On the other hand, the service attitude of all staff is sophisticated and wonderful. The guidance was smooth and I did not feel any discomfort. Though you can spend comfortably all the time, you should not have excessive expectations for this hotel. You should think of it as one of Utsunomiya's sightseeing and business bases.
Stayed here for one week on a business trip mid December 2018. Rooms are very clean, staff was very nice and pleasant. They included a Japan cell phone for use during the week(I used it for navigation purposes to save data on my phone). My room was a single with a full size bed. Laundry room is on the 6th floor. Be sure not to stuff them or your clothes will not dry. The washer require no soap, it is all included. Just put money in the machine. This is my second time here, I would definitely stay here in the future. It is also very close to the train station as well.
I have stayed at the Hotel Mystays in Utsunomiya on three separate occasions. Each time was for two to three weeks, and I usually book the hotel on short notice. The Mystays Hotel has many rooms that are very comparable with "western" style hotels with rooms that are large and have plenty of space to put your clothes and items for your trip. It is a less than 10-minute walk from the main JR Station in Utsunomiya and has many restaurants to choose from within an easy walking distance. The only complaint I have for the hotel is that you do not have control of the temperature in your room, and only have the option of adjusting the fan speed. The room was quite warm on a few occasions, and the hotel provided me with a fan which made my stay better. My room was also a smoking room, but the smell of cigarettes was barely noticeable and did not affect my clothing. The room was always kept very clean and had coffee and teas available, and a refrigerator that kept things nice and cold. All in all, I would recommend the hotel as it is a nice place to stay, especially if you are heading to Nikko National Park. One other comment, the price charged per day is very different, and my hotel room costs have ranged from $60 USD to $350 USD over the course of three weeks, so be prepared.
We stayed here two nights and found it solid, if unspectacular. The hotel is just a couple minutes' walk from the train station, very easy to access. There were a good few bars and restaurants right outside, though the bulk of the city's nightlife appeared to be on the other side of the station (not that that means it's far, though the big station in the way did feel like a bit of a barrier). We were perfectly able to entertain ourselves in the area. The Japanese buffet-style breakfast was good, though it did run low on options rather quickly. We found ourselves with a limited selection on the morning that we arrived in the latter half of the breakfast timeframe.
This is a very nice Japanese hotel, and is perfect if you have a reason to be out in this area. There are plenty of dining options both in the restaurant and in the general area. The hotel has a great breakfast with pool plenty of choices for westerners and traditional Japanese enthusiasts. This is a Japanese style hotel, which means you might get a smoking room if you aren't careful. There is fabric softener and rubbing alcohol in spray bottles in most rooms- use it. Even in a non smoking room, it's possible you might smell the remnants of you are sensitive. Overall the staff was attentive and it was affordable, clean and convenient. Not everyone speaks English but enough do to get by. I recommend staying here if you are in the area.
The room was small compared with rooms at other hotels I've stayed at in Japan for a similar price, but it was clean and comfortable, except for the hard pillows (this, granted, is just a personal preference). The bathroom was neat and well-equipped, though I wish there were more towels (again, personal preference). The staff was polite, but I cannot estimate if they speak English as my partner handled the check-in and check-out in Japanese. The location is great; you can basically walk to the hotel from the train station and even see the hotel building as you descend down the station stairs.
