The hotel is in a beautiful old style located on a hill offering great views. It's located a few minutes walk from Todi city center. The staff offered excellent service and went that extra mile to make you feel special and make sure your stay was great. The service was not only professional but felt personal as well. We spent four nights at the place for a wedding party and had two dinners. One BBQ-dinner by the pool and one finer dinner at the restaurant. The latter offered created dishes that were well executed. Both BBQ and dinner were excellent! Definitely a place we'll come back to enjoy the stunning views and excellent service.

First let me say that Todi is a delightful medieval hill town in Umbria which overlooks the Tiber River and is well worth a visit. Hotel Fonte Cesia is centrally located inside the walls of the old town just a few minutes stroll from the main square, Piazza del Popolo. The hotel, in a historical building, has been tastefully updated to create an ambiance which seamlessly combines old world charm and modern conveniences. Our large room had wood floors, ample windows, lovely old style decor including floor length curtains and a brocade bedcover; a large bathroom with modern fixtures and even a bathtub; lots of storage, mini fridge, safe, TV. All was fresh and clean. Bed linens were good and there were lots of towels provided. Staff in reception were accommodating, friendly and spoke good English. Valet parking was provided for our vehicle. The included buffet breakfast was served in a large dining room with gleaming stone floors and linen tablecloths. Buffet included fresh baking (breads, cakes, pies, croissant), hard boiled eggs, sliced meats, cheeses, cold cereal, yogurt and hot/cold beverages. Common areas include a large terrace, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine after walking the town, an indoor bar area with seating, a lounge with books to peruse and the dining room. Elevator provided. Ask at the front desk to be shown some of the very interesting aspects of the hotel many of which were discovered during renovations and have since been preserved for viewing - the well, cisterns, a little chapel (now used as a meeting room), various artifacts displayed on the terrace. This is a hotel I would return to. Recommended.

Our stay in Todi was memorable thanks to Sandro and Roberta's beautiful bed and breakfast accommodations. Sandro met us in the main square and led us to a safe "secret" parking place for our rental car so we could explore on foot and avoid the frustration of navigating of the city's charming but narrow streets. Next he led us to what could only be described as a "Paris in Italy" hotel suite, its décor an enchanting reminder of another of our favorite places as we reveled in Italian food, wine, history, and architecture. He and Roberta made us feel so welcomed, and the breakfast each morning was beyond what we expected, with omelets made on the spot, a surprise fresh pastry each day, and abundant use of local meat, cheese, and produce. Sandro also gave us helpful (and accurate) suggestions on restaurants and a map marked with places to visit. We cannot thank them enough for making our time in Todi something we'll treasure always.

Such a tricky one to review. Setting is idyllic. Rolling Umbrian countryside, stunning views, slightly treacherous track to arrive but not too far from Todi. Our family suite was fine. Not very much room but bed was comfy and there was a nice outside area. Kids room was cramped though. Swimming pool is very nice with plenty of loungers and was clean. Great views from the pool. We had dinner twice in the hotel. The first time was a celebratory meal and it was fantastic. Huge amounts of food, very high quality. The second dinner was poor. One or two of the courses were borderline inedible. And this is the thing with the hotel. When the lady came to take plates away after primi she said ‘you obviously didn’t like that did you’. No apology or query, then same thing happened again on the main course. They also charged us 80 quid for a bottle of desert wine without even mentioning the price. And then at breakfast the next morning the lady told us that our children must have snapped off a little blade of wood from their antique desk. Now there were loads of people in the hotel and our kids were never alone in the relevant room. Altogether left a sour taste. I also saw the man referred to in the review below. All very odd. Yes he plays music on his mobile phone and the staff indulge him. Didn’t actually bother me but again, the whole thing just gives the sense of slight amateurishness. Overall this is a lovely place and I would recommend, though with a few tweaks it could be truly first class.

This old medieval castle, located just 3km outside Todi, has been elegantly restored and set up as an "agriturismo" (B&B). The host is very nice and welcoming and welcomes you with drinks and homemade cakes (which are also part of the included breakfast spread). Rooms are spacious but somewhat dark "hey it's the castle ambiance", beds very comfortable and good showers. Located on the top of a hill it has stunning views of the town of Todi and surrounding countryside.

VL is a wonderful hotel that I have known for 12 years. The hotel staff are excellent, professional and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble and all our needs were met with a smile. This trip was a choir tour, and we were 45 people in the group. Every effort was made by staff to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Specific dietary needs were met and meal times moved to accommodate our itinerary. My room was spacious and comfortable, with a fridge and safe. There was a balcony and lovely views accross the Umbrian hills. VL is a 10-15 minute walk uphill from the centre of Todi. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel gates, and taxis are avialable on request. Todi is a beautiful Estruscan Town. The ancient Cistern is well worth a visit, and there are many good cafes and restaurants to choose from throughout the town. Walking around the perimiter of Todi affords beautiful views across the countryside. Best and least? I loved the hotel and its friendly staff and of course the town and its history is fascinating. There are always cultural events happening, so there is something for almost everyone. Least liked ... leaving Todi and VL to go home.

Castello Izzalini is a wonderful place for a relaxed vacation. The check in/out was easy and the attendant very nice and helpful. Spent the week with my wife visiting nearby walled cities and enjoyed the regional local cuisine and wines. The Castello is well equipped and functional for an extended stay. The Umbria region is wonderful! Did not use the resort facilities because we spent the days out visiting and walking the old cities. Note that the location is somewhat remote and the roads are a challenge due to its deteriorated conditions (been an agricultural region), but is not something that should bother anyone. I learned that next time, a car with automatic transmission will make the driving much comfortable.... if I only had researched about out the area better, however no worries! I highly recommend this location for someone looking to relax, enjoy history, food and wine!

Driving up to the property of Relais Todini, is like entering the set of a wonderful movie – magical, otherworldly, and absolutely beautiful. With its tree-lined private drive and commanding views of the Umbrian valley, I’m hard-pressed to think of a more stunning property in which I've stayed, after more than 10 trips to Italy over the years. The outdoors feature vistas everywhere, the dining areas and rooms as well. Our room had a spectacular view and it was just a standard room -- all of the rooms have views. Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. The hotel helped with dinner reservations and even to order stunning flowers for my wife’s birthday. My wife enjoyed the spa facilities. Were it not for rain, we would have tried the lovely outdoor pool that is heated. It’s a smaller hotel – about 12 rooms I think. Every day we started with a plentiful breakfast, including eggs to order. A little less protein than we’d have liked overall, but certainly plenty of delicious baked goods; bad for the waistline but tasty. We had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant one night and it was truly outstanding. Impeccable service, and delicious food, including pasta and perfectly cooked steak. Absolutely worth dining at the restaurant. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and a perfect base to visit Umbria as the town of Todi was about 10-12 minutes by car of very easy driving. Todi itself is charming and features panoramic views – definitely worth seeing. We would happily return to Todini if we were to return to Umbria some day
