We stayed over Xmas (no room at the relatives!) and found it to be good. They upgraded us to a fancier room, probably because it was quiet over the holidays. Plenty of space in the room, scrupulously clean and right in the centre of town. What struck me especially was that we could turn the heating up high and the room was toasty warm - not often possible in hotels. Very reasonable price too and especially good value given the quality.

The workmanship and design are faultless. The staff are very kind and considerate. Sharon is a friend now. The rooms are big. Mine needed another chair and a small table and a luggage rack but I managed. The Hypnos bed was high quality. I will gladly stay again. I did not eat breakfast in the restaurant just outside. I don’t like having to deal with weather and returning to dry off if necessary before going out again. So this time I ate at my ultimate destination. I saved a lot of time.

Recently stayed as a couple with another 2 friends in the next door room as a last minute cheap room near Leeds. Great value for money. The room was clean, lovely soft white sheets and fresh white towels. Tea making facilities, TV, hairdryer, clean bathroom and lovely warm heater! The room did smell like smoke but they had clearly tried their best to reduce this.. All non-smoking rooms so this was just a previous person ignoring this rule! Would definitely stay again.

The location of the hotel is very good. It takes about 1-2 minutes to walk to the bus station and 20 minutes to walk to the nearby large supermarket. The price of a taxi to reach the city center is acceptable.

My partner and I are local to Wakefield, but are about to move into our first home, and came to stay at this hotel for a night away from the chaos! We ended up extending our stay to another night, making it a weekend break. We understand times are challenging in all professions during Covid-19, and we were debating whether or not just to stay at home amongst the chaos - but we were welcomed by the wonderful Isobel. We popped out to the lovely red kite a couple of times, even going back home to sort out new house stuff. Each time we popped in and out of the hotel (at all different times of the day during the weekend) Isobel seemed to be there ready to help at all times - bless her heart! Thank you Isobel. The room was incredibly clean, the shower was lovely and my partner and I had the best two nights sleep we have had in a LONG time. In regards to Covid-19, there were clear functional signs and hand sanitising spots, an efficient one-way system and safety screens everywhere in the shared areas! We treated ourself to breakfast on the final morning. No points for guessing who was there and waiting to help us, and make breakfast a really enjoyable safe experience! Isobel was fantastic throughout our entire stay. I would whole-heartedly recommend the premier inn as a safe place to stay during this pandemic, and an enjoyable lovely experience also. Specifically this one! Thanks.

I have stopped at this establishment a number of times in the past 6 months and each visit gets better. Sarah and Stuart are excellent hosts and nothing is too much. I am gluten intolerant and all my dietary needs are accommodated in the fantastic breakfast. Secure car parking and well maintained gardens available to enjoy weather permitting this is a good place as a base to explore the surrounding areas with easy access to motorways.

I met a friend forom the Midlands here, for a bite to eat in Charlie's Bar and a good catch-up. Lovely waitress, lots of smiles, and a decent lunch menu. We both opted for the chicken Caesar salad (choice of small portion if preferred), which had lovely, fresh salad and was very tasty. I had a glass of white wine, my friend a red. The waitress quickly realised she had brought the wrong red and ,even though my friend was happy to stick with it, she insisted she would take it off the bill. That's what I call proper customer care. Charlie's is lovely and relaxed, a nice place to chill with friends.

Stayed here again for 2 nights DBB and once again had a fantastic stay. Staff are all very friendly. The food is delicious. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and each course was beautiful. The homemade nachos were delicious, the trout, the chicken, the bubble and squeak mash..... Honestly, the chef is great! That is one of the reasons we've been 3 times! We walked to the Fox and Hounds pub on the Saturday evening, after our meal and had a great night. There was a country rock singer who was brilliant. Friendly people too Yummy breakfast both mornings too. We walked round the Newmillerdam lake and went to see Sandal Castle. Thanks for a 3rd fab weekend. We will be booking again, either through Groupon, or direct with yourselves.

We stayed here for our anniversary. It’s a beautiful hotel with loads of potential but sadly the customer service and organisation lets it down. The room was ok-clean but poor view of the top of a roof and bathrooms are small and very basic- nothing luxurious about them despite it being a deluxe double room. We had paid for a package which should have included Prosecco on arrival in our room. We rang to point out this wasn’t there and were told it would be brought up - it never arrived. The restaurant was fine on the Friday evening and our food was lovely. However on the Saturday night it was a different experience. We booked a table (in the day) for 7.45pm but when we arrived and gave our name and room number, the staff member on the desk checked and said we weren’t on the list. Eventually he found it with a spelling mistake, but then said we were late. We pointed out we were on time and that the list was clearly wrong (we recounted a conversation we’d had when booking it which made it clear we couldn’t have got the time wrong) . His manner was slightly rude and dismissive - certainly not the customer service I would expect from a senior member of the restaurant team. When we were finally seated it took an age to be served - there were just simply too few staff and too many customers. People were getting cross at the desk having to stand around waiting for their table, and it just seemed disorganised. The poor waiting staff were all lovely but clearly too busy. Their customer service put that of their senior staff to shame. The bar staff were poor. We stood and waited at the bar for almost 10 minutes with absolutely no acknowledgement by any of the staff - not even a “we’ll be with you in a minute”. It was as if we were invisible. Very rude and disappointing- we ended up walking away without being served. I suspect they were busy - 2 staff for a Saturday night at such a large hotel seems ridiculous- but they need to taught how to at least acknowledge a customer’s presence. The spa was fine on the Friday evening but ridiculously busy on the Saturday. Pool too full to swim, jacuzzi permanently full (with 3 of the same people who literally stayed in for the entire 45 minutes we were down there!), no where to sit around pool, female changing rooms smelled of urine- just not good enough all round. It appears that this hotel is trying to be too many things - a day spa, a luxury hotel, a party venue, a conference centre, a golf hotel and a local gym - and not doing any of them very well. Such a shame. Overpriced compared to other similar hotels - would not return sadly.
