We were a party of 8 adults and had a 2-night stay at La Dolce Vita. The hotel could not have been in a lovlier location with amazing sea views. Rooms were well appointed and beds comfortable. We had 2 rental cars, which were parked away from the historic zone, but the hotel arranged both tuk tuk and private car transportation to and from the parking area. Francesca greeted us and was the main contact during our stay. She could not have been more delightful and welcoming. She was helpfuly, attentive and simply charming. The hotel and Francesca were "perfect" in every way. We would not hestiate to return to La Dolce Vita should we have the luck to visit Tropea in the future.

I normally don't write reviews about hotels or B&Bs,however,I feel as though I should write a review about Donnaciccina. My wife and I stayed at Donnaciccina for 7 nights in late August. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Donnaciccina. The location is just magnificent. The main street of Tropea is literally around the corner. We were close to great restaurants, bars and all the action. The famous viewing area looking down to the beautiful Tropea beach is also extremely close. Our stay at Donnaciccina was made even more enjoyable by the owner,Umberto, his family and the staff. At our request Umberto organised a car to pick us up at Lamezia Terme Airport and to drop us off at Donnaciccina..The staff was so welcoming and helpful when we checked in.A big thanks to Demitri and Maria Rosa. Umberto was the perfect host who made sure our holiday was totally relaxed and enjoyable. Nothing was a problem for Umberto. He offered help and advice from where the best places to eat in Tropea are to booking a Tuk Tuk for a fun ride to the beach. Big thanks from my wife and I for making our time in Tropea memorable. Cheers from Melbourne,Australia.

We stayed 7 nights at Le due Sicilie. The room was small, but it was very clean. The cleaning was made daily, also the towels were changed daily. The bed sheets were changed only twice during our 7 night stay. Regarding the breakfast..it was great. A lot to choose from: croissants fresh from the oven, bread, mini croissants with prosciutto crudo or cotto or cheese. The coffee was also great. The staff was also very nice and helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay in June 2019. The rooms are based on two separate buildings. We were in what would be considered a "sea view room". I would not recommend paying extra for the sea view as it is very limited and the sea looks far away. Amenities in room were good. Always had hot water. Toiletries and towels are provided. Housekeeping is available daily. There is an air conditioner in the room which was great and saved us from the heat. There are coffee making facilities, however we had breakfast and at out throughout our stay. Great location for town centre and beach. Clean and nicely decorated rooms. Overall would return if staying again in Tropea.

We had a wonderful two night stay in the Stromboli room - which does indeed have views of Stromboli as well as the bay and the Santuario. The steps down to the beach are very close by and convenient. Because of Covid-19 we ordered breakfast items online the night before and then these were ready on a tray for us to take back to the room to eat on our balcony, with some of the best breakfast views around. Enrico, the host, is extremely helpful. The only issue people may have is with parking - having dropped cases off outside the B&B, you have to find street parking about 500m away. Having said that, it worked fine for us and the views and the B&B were well worth this slight hassle. Bubbly and still water free from a dispenser in the kitchen area is a nice touch. Highly recommended.

We were visiting family in Italy and decided to visit Tropea last minute. Tropea is stunning and a must see for anyone traveling to Italy. We stayed at the Townhouse Tropea. It was nice, quaint, and very difficult to find. It is very hard to spot unless you know what you're looking for. The room was nice, breakfast was decent. My stay was actually pretty good until I returned home. You see we paid to have our rental car parked valet. So we trusted that our car is parked in a safe place. Well guess what, we received a parking infraction from Hertz where we rented our car and were charged on our credit card the fine. If I had parked the car and it was my responsibility I'd pay it without hesitation, but, the ticket was issued when I would have been at the beach, after I asked for valet parking! How does this happen? Did the hotel park my car illegally somewhere? Did they take it out and drive my car around? All I know is that this ticket was issued when my car was valet parked. I emailed the hotel and never received a response. So just be very careful about trusting valet parking. I wouldn't go back because of this. Not only did I pay a ridiculous amount for my stay (because it was peak season) and valet parking, now I am stuck with the fine for the parking infraction. It is simply not fair! Beware!

Probably one of the best places for accommodation.Room 2. Plus: - very good location, close to the old center; - I think it has the best view - directly to Santa Maria Island; - exemplary cleaning, daily! - good breakfast (Italian meaning lots of sweets) Small minuses: - in the summer I think it can be a little noisy; - towels I think should be changed to fluffier ones; - breakfast can be improved by adding egg-based preparations; - Internet is not available in the whole room (depends on the area where you are staying)

My mother and I stayed in the Baron suite for two nights in October. The suite had a lounge room, small bar with fridge, separate bedroom and bathroom. The rooms were spacious and immaculately cleaned. The host had kindly set up the sofa bed for me - they had asked in advance knowing we might like separate beds. The host was warm and welcoming and had excellent suggestions for food and site seeing. He was always available if we needed assistance and even offered to drive us to the train station with our bags at the end of our stay. The breakfast was worth staying in the hotel in itself! Beautiful views on an open rooftop with a continental buffet set up (cornetto/croissant, bread rolls, cereal/muesli, fruit, spreads, juice etc) with additional menu options available - we were provided with a cured meats platter with cheeses and a freshly made omelette cooked to our preference. The location was perfect - Tropea is a small town but the hotel was merely a few metres down from one of the main squares. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again.

Booked this hotel via booking.com and have to say I am very happy with what I received for the price I payed! This is a fairly small hotel located a few minutes from all the restaurants, shops and bars in Tropea centre. The beach is approximately 5 minutes walk away. The hotel has 4 floors and there is a lift. You can park outside the hotel. Check-in was simple and we were in our rooms within a couple of minutes of arriving. The standard rooms are plenty big enough for two people. We were two guys so asked for twin beds which we received. The room was very clean so credit to the maids here. The air conditioning worked and there was a small balcony. The breakfast bar located on the 4th floor was plenty big enough for the number of people staying at the hotel. Breakfast consists of croissants, bread/toas, cakes, fruits, cereal, jams and spreads. There's a fruit juice machine and also a hot drinks machine. Scrambled eggs and little sausages were also available in the self service trays. On the 2nd day of a 5 night stay we had no cold water in our room. I did advise reception and was assured this would be resolved. Later that day I did go down to reception again to ask when would it be resolved and was told it was resolved !! It hadn't but fortunately our friends had the room opposite. I showered in their room for the rest of my stay. I simply couldn't be bothered to complain again !! There was no bin in our room either which was inconvenient ! An ashtray for the balcony would have been good too. The two girls on reception were very pleasant and friendly. The man on reception wasn't though. He was very rude and we heard lots of people complaining about his attitude. He was shouting at people as soon as they entered the hotel in the evening telling people to be quiet when they hadn't even spoken !!

Firstly, get the negatives out of the way. Comfort level was ok, bit hot when you walk in from outside when you are looking for a cool area. Also the beds were ok but they were two single beds pushed together (not uncommon) but they probably should have used a double bed mattress protector to keep it together better, some times during the night it felt like I was going to fall through.. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the town centre. You can get the owners to call a tuuk-tuuk but the tuuk-tuuk drivers are quite unreliable (no fault of the hotel). If they say they will be there in the next 5 minutes then wait, if they say they'll be there in about 20 then don't bother because they will be much later than that. The host Anna was very friendly and very helpful. The housekeeping staff were also very friendly and lovely. The maintenance of the rooms are first class, they even mop the floors rather than just sweep or vacuum. As soon as you walk in you can smell the freshness of the rooms There are two beaches, Mare Grande (rock, but small rock so manageable) and Mare Piccolo (sand) Mare Grande is just a walk down the (steep) hill from the hotel. The water was much cleaner this time than when we were here in 2016. Mare Piccolo is the steep walk down the hill from the town centre. Both beaches are great. Now, the breakfast. Jesus christ, what a breakfast. We re-booked this hotel based on the breakfast and it didn't disappoint. Every day there were 2-3 new dishes on there to complement the others. Other there was coffee cheesecake, chocolate cakes, raspberry crostata, nutella sponge roll plus other sweets. Then there were a whole heap of pastries like spinach and cheese pie, ham cheese and spinach pastry rolls, ham cheese and olive pies, zucchini slice, zucchini rolls stuffed with cheese and loads more. Seriously wanted to take the food with me for lunch and dinner or take the chef home. All items (or at least 90%) would he cooked on the premises by a lady (wish I got her name) it was home-made cooking at its finest. Actually back to the earlier point, the 10-15 minute walk to the beach is perfect because it gives you a chance to walk off all the food you eat at breakfast time. We've stayed in alot of hotels, often 5 star and this breakfast is in the top 3 with Ritz-Carlton in Singapore and Hotel Icon in HKG.

A new nice hotel located inside a residential apartment building. We could not find any signpost for the hotel and it took us quite a while to locate it. Quite a few neighbors we asked for directions did not know the hotel at all. The hotel itself looks and smells like "brand new". The rooms we received were modern and wonderful, the bathroom fully equipped and with the latest innovations and products. The staff is young and friendly, always at your service and helps with all requested information and guidance. A good and varied continental breakfast. The dining room is located on the basement floor in a most decorated and cozy hall. One problem we encountered is parking. In the hotel’s advertisement, they indicate that there is adjacent parking. Since the building, apart from the hotel has private tenants that has priority over parking, there is no parking for hotel guests. A public, free of charge and non-secured public parking is lokated a few hundred meters from the hotel.

The Villa Saturno consist of four rooms and we were lucky to stay in the best one - triple room with sea view. Accessories are exactly the same as provided by original pictures - there is a main room with double-bed plus an extra bed (for your child if you have any), a changing room, and bathroom. Everything was perfectly prepared at the time we arrived. The host was very gentle and offered us to help with the luggage. There is no problem to arrange in English, but knowing some Italian words can help. Breakfast was reach - consisted of fruits, juice, yogurt, croissants, bread & butter plus ham or cheese, biscuits and.... did I forget anything? Yes, the Italian coffee for sure! Fruits are grown directly in the garden, so you can taste original Italian products. It is not far away of city center, but you better take a car as there is no pavement for pedestrians. It also comes in handy to get to beach. There are three beaches near to the accommodation (up to 1 km) and few others in surroundings. Or you can just stay in the garden and relax sitting in the swing. There are many other luxury accommodations for sure, but if you prefer the best value for the price, consider to stay here comfortable.

We arrived about 9am and knew we were far to early for check in but the lady said we could leave our bags in the room as she was half way through remaking and cleaning it. I had fallen on the road nearby and cut my leg and knee. She brought me antibacterial wipes and antiseptic alcohol so I could clean myself up, and an extra towel to wash the tears from my face! She also brought us a bowl of fruit and a fruit juice each to welcome us which was lovely. The room was great, apart from a part of the fridge door breaking and our bottle of wine dropped out and broke EVERYWHERE ! We are so sorry for messing up 2 towels and we emailed to apologise that evening! The next day it was spotless. There is a Spar shop next to the most awesome pizza place 3-5 minute walk away in the marina. (Called Kalavri). There’s also a closer supermarket just on the road but it looks a little dusty and so we preferred the spar. There’s another restaurant on the corner called Vagabond or similar that was pretty laughable, a bit like fawlty towers. But the wine was €6 a litre and so we just had one each a giggled at the owner and the staff. Tropea was delightful, do all the steps early in the morning so you don’t have to walk during the heat of the day. The beach to the east (past the spar shop about 10minutes) was nicer that the beach to the west. With a good cheap bar. Also, the mammas gelateria at the top of the steps opposite the church on the hill was also excellent.

The cleanest room we’ve ever stayed in (especially important to us in these COVID times!). Our room had the best shower we’ve had in Italy! Room was comfortable, Sandro, Francesco, family and staff were helpful and personable. Breakfast on the patio was plentiful and delicious, coffee/cappuccinos were excellent. It’s a great location, 10 min scenic walk down the hill to a beautiful public beach and many lidos. Within easy walking distance of many restaurants and shops. Parking available just down the street for a reasonable price. We’d definitely recommend.

Looking for the best place in the center of Tropea but out of the noise and with the most panoramic terrace? This is for you! In one of the pedestrian alleys this whole building completely renovated has comfortable bedrooms with air conditioning and a roof terrace to die for where you will be having a copious homemade breakfast: freshly baked croissants, warm bread , cakes , jams and local cheeses and cuts , fruit and yogurt and even their famous eggs with tropean red onions ! Michele and Christina will give you advices to what to do and where to go to eat . The highlight was to follow their suggestion and go up to the hills in the country, 10 min ride , to visit a friend's vineyard and to eat homemade Calabrian food with wine degustation overlooking the sunset ! The best place to enjoy this amazing town .

We loved the B and B once we found it. No address other than via Carmine on the website. Well via Carmine is a long road and no GPS coordinates and no house number. The descriptions made it sound like it was in town so we drove to town center parked and started walking down via carmine in both directions. No one knew where it was till we got pretty far along the road. Finally after 30 minutes of walking we found it, used the bathroom and walked back to town to get the car and drive it back and walked to town again. We walked to town for dinner too so we walked 5.5 miles that day. Wonderful new room, great WiFi, terrific breakfast, friendly owners but crazy to locate and further out of town than I thought.

We booked this hotel without prior knowledge and only one small picture on this site. Once we arrived we were shocked and surprised at how wonderful this hotel was. Gardens throughout the interior in old Tuscan style. We got the triple King room because we have a 3 year old. That gave us a single bed for her to sleep on the bath had a large Jacuzzi bath and separate large shower. Accent lighting throughout. I told Carmen (Manager) that she needs to post more pictures of this wonderful hotel. In Italy, Breakfast is breads, with fruit and Coffee, But this hotel, served the full breakfast with eggs, potatoes, and various Italian delicacies and pastries. Capachino made on demand. Simply wonderful experience. English is spoken by the staff as well. We loved Tropea and will be back and will stay at this hotel every time.

After driving from Paris and spending two or three days in many Italian locations all the way from Paris we were in the mood for some relaxation. The area with its beaches and quaint town & this quaint hotel provided us with what we wanted. Beach below was wonderful. The hotel is clean and has a fitness facility , treadmill and bike , and sauna facing the Mediterranean as did the breakfast room and an outdoor patio with views of the volcanic island of Stromboli. Breakfast was wonderful and eggs made to order with accompanying cappuccino and waiter was most hospitable. Had a machine to drop in whole oranges and you watched it extract the juice. Nicest feature was the friendliness and efficiency of the female reception staff. We called them up to two weeks after we left the hotel for advice on hair salons and nails for manicure in some towns one to two hours away. Everyone here made us feel like we were in our home. Price is reasonable and fair and I strongly recommend this hotel.

A lot to choose from: croissants fresh from the oven, bread, mini croissants with prosciutto crudo or cotto or cheese. The coffee was also great. The staff was also very nice and helpful.

I went for a short break with my mum to Tropea and chose this B&B as it has a shady garden and is so close to the beach. We had a great time and Massimo the hotel manager could not have done more to make us feel welcome, give us advice and arrange taxis etc, exceptional service so thank you Massimo! Some reviews on here were not that complimentary about the state of the hotel but I have to disagree with them as this is a charming place to stay in a fabulous town. Our room on the first floor had a newly refurbished bathroom and a pretty balcony with garden and sea views. Breakfast was served on a terrace in the garden with our choice of coffee and tea and a traditional continental buffet of bread, cheeses, salami (including local spicy nduja paste which is delicious) and juice, cereal, fruit etc. The town is walking distance up a nearby slope and not as steep as it looks. The town is heaving with fabulous pizzerias and restaurants and gelaterias which also sell delicious granita and cafe creme icy coffees. The station is a 10 Euro journey but definitely worth it as it is quite far away. We had a nice day trip on the train to Pizzo famous for tartufo, ice cream bombes! If we had more time we would have gone to possibly Sicily or the volcanic island of Stromboli. I would love to go back one day.

We stayed for just one night in this wonderful new resort . The rooms are modern and beautifully decorated and enjoy a lovely ample terrace. Cleanliness is of the highest standards and the staff at the reception are extremely helpful and courteous. Breakfast is served in a shaded outside terrace and the choice was great. The only downside (if it can be considered a downside) is that it is just outside Tropea - but if you have a car, or you like to walk, it is absolutely no problem. I will happily return if I am ever again in Tropea. I travel a lot and this was one of the best rooms I stayed in in terms of decor, cleanliness and value for money.
