On arrival, we were told that the car park was full, so had to leave our car in a public car park nearby. Not terribly happy about this, as we felt it was a security issue. As others have said, the hotel is in a great location: walking distance to the river, old town, restaurants etc. Our room overlooked a noisy street below though. Perhaps it was because we were on a cheaper, internet deal. The room itself was modern and fresh (albeit with an overwhelming smell of alcohol based cleaner) with a comfortable bed. However the duvet itself must've had an Arctic tog rating, far too hot for the mild September night. I asked the receptionist for a lightweight blanket, but they didn't have any, and she gave us a sheet instead. Perhaps if the air conditioning in the room hadn't been disconnected we could have been comfortable with the heavy duvet? All in all, a reasonable night's stay, but we had the impression there were definitely two tiers of service.

the building and the rooms are really nice. We got a standard room and even with this entry level choice, the room and the furniture were nice. The location is perfect for visiting Macon as everything will be at a walking distance. Everything is this hotel could make raising a 4 star standard. The only point is the service. Here are few examples: - the main attraction is the Skybar with its 360° view. Indeed it is great but it is not open on Sundays - the spa schedule is organized on a way you can order a day ticket but be pushed back 4 times because someone is already using it. We didn't understand how you can book a day/time and be sure to be admitted. - personal interaction is not really what you expect from a 4* hotel (no eye contact, smile, service similar to a 'Brasserie' caffé). At the bar downstairs (since on Sunday it is the only one open) you could wait a long time before being served as the personel is also working at the reception desk. If the hotel would organize few things and train the personel about customer service, it would be a great place to stop by.

We stayed here the night before we drove to Méribel for skiing. Easy to find and we had reserved a parking space. It was inside a secure garage so we didn’t have to worry about our belongings in the packed car. A worthwhile €10 for peace of mind. Very pleasant staff. Big comfortable quiet rooms. Lovely continental breakfast with very fresh produce. Lots of good restaurants in 5-10 minutes walk.

Ideal combination of price and quality. Very clean hotel, in a perfect location - round the corner from the old town Macon. Very friendly and welcoming personnel. Comfortable rooms, super clean. Fragrant toiletries. Travelled with 3 children who had triple room , which is a rare find. Will definitely stay here again next time.

Arrived at weekend so no staff about. Access code was sent prior to arrival by text and email and access was straightforward with the instructions sent. Had pre booked parking and this was detailed in our welcome letter with the appropriate keys. Had a studio room 303 which was a good size, clean and comfortable, complete with kitchenette. Good location for visiting town on foot.

My review covers bookings at the Hotel du Nord and nearby Hotel Europe owned by the same group. In November the hotel was apparently undergoing refurbishment. We were transferred to a nearby hotel owned by the same group. The replacement hotel was the nearby European and Angleterre (ostensibly a better hotel). 'Free parking' for either hotel is on a busy street where, even in November, it was difficult to find a space and you must be prepared to rise early and move your car or face a fine. Otherwise off street parking is 15 euros. Our questions about the change of hotel and what was now included were dealt with very abruptly. A continental breakfast which we thought was free, was now 7euros each. Next morning we were rudely accosted in the dining room when we helped ourselves to a drop more coffee. Apparently our deal covered only one cup, two would only be possible if we paid the full breakfast priced at 14 euros each! So no second cup of cona coffee. It wasn't so much the money involved in these changes but the very poor way in which all this was dealt with. We arrived as we explained to the managers after a long journey in atrocious weather. So yes the beds were comfy but the service on a wet November night and the following morning was absolutely lousy!

On the website it seems a nice hotel. As I arrived I didn't feel verry welcome. I asked for the possibilities to find get a restaurant and after asking this several times I finaly received an answer. The room didn't smell well, so I opened the windows the time I went for a meal. Several small thing were not right in the room, but as I said only small things. The breakfast was simple but good. I heard after my stay that the hotel was obligated by the administration to house refugees, which I already thought as I walked around the place.

Very beautiful location near the Saone river, Macon's city center just a 15-minute walk, also a park right next to the hotel. Staff very welcoming and helpful, the bed is incredibly comfortable. Unfortunately, the state of the room was not up to the "privilege" title. Some items were damaged and/or not maintained very well. The sofabed is probably much better as a bed but we did not need it. And the AC was heating too much despite the low temperature setting (we had to switch it off and open the window on arrival). It was vell worth the sale price, but I'm not sure I would book the same room for the full price.

Visited the hotel an route to Toulon with our boat trailer. We searched for a hotel that had a large enough car park for car with trailer. This hotel fitted the bill and was close to the main auto route to the south of France. The bedroom was budget style but we only needed somewhere for a good night's sleep. The breakfast was ample for a budget price. I would recommend the Grill restaurant opposite for a meal. Very tasty food, not over priced and cheerful staff that spoke English well (although I did try my French when ordering)

Stayed here twice, on our outward journey and on our return journey. only stayed one night each time. We firstly picked the Hotel, from the internet, by it's reasonable room price. On arrival we were, at first, disappointed by the size of the room. It was a lot smaller than we expected, looked a bit like student accommodation. We quickly changed to being very pleased. The room was very clean, the bathroom modern and clean. The shower cubicle larger than most. The bed very comfortable and good quality bedding provided. Air-Con, both heat and cool. This was excellent for our one night stop. We also has our small pet dog with us who was welcomed. The staff we came into contact with were very courteous, friendly and helpful. We did not eat in the Restaurant but will try it next visit. We will certainly continue to use this hotel on our travels to and from the South of France. Is good for short stays and is easy to get to as is close to the motorway.

we are on roadtrip from switzerland to france and stayed here for a night, they had FREE secured car parking and on the motorway and hence we selected this place, we have booked it through expedia and rate was good as well around EUR 50/night without breakfast. Pro The checkin was fast, with free wifi, near to motorway, good & helpful staff. Cons Very small rooms, there was couple of spider in the room [but the staff removed it, so nice], Feedback they should add coffee maker in the room, and some more English channels to the TV.
