After a long drive through France from Calais we need a quite stop close to Lausanne, which is a busy, cosmopolitan, noisy Swiss city. We found the Major Duval boutique hotel and restaurant and booked a night as a complete gamble. What a find! With a lovely suite overlooking the peaceful Lake Geneva we enjoyed a delicious meal on the terrace outside which is exactly what we had hoped to find. We shall return without doubt.

Very modern hotel. Nice rooms. Super sound insulation as they are right on the road. The trade off is the great view though. Short walk to Cully, which is a posh suburb of Lausanne. You’d stay here to walk to Cuully or train / boat to Lausanne, or to have a wonderful dinner at their restaurant, which is brilliant

Overall, we had a fantastic stay the hotel Le Rivage in Lutry. The location is great and the staff was mostly very nice. However, the place needs some major repairs and the internal communication is pretty much non existant. Despite several phone calls and emails before our stay, the extra bed was not set up, the tables in the restaurant were not reserved, etc. Everything was quickly fixed but the lack of communication between the departments remained obvious throughout our stay. Dinner was very nice although quite pricey for the portion sizes and unfortunately, no menu or half-board was offered.
