Visited lovely Bergamo in april with five friends. Loved the city and the donizetti royal apt made this a special trip. Our hosts were fabulous and organised airport transfers in advance , in fact they were so helpful in giving us information on the city and local areas of interest. The apartment was central, fantastic, spacious, airy and spotlessly clean. It worked so well for us and would highly recommend it.

We are ancient e-bikers travelling from Dorset to Rimini and then Rome and then back home. Tonight we’re in Bergamo and tired of hotels smelling of disinfectant and full of 7 day stayers on half board so we opted for this BandB. It is an oasis of calm. An inner courtyard tranquil, silent, ancient and very comfortable rooms. Can’t tell you about the breakfast yet as haven’t had it yet! The recommended taverna down the road was perfect and so is everything about this place. Think they may be into yoga and meditation too but haven’t any experience to confirm. Happy days + nights!

had one night stay after late arrival to Bergamo airport before going to Milan next day. It was walking distance to both old town (citta alta) and railway station, which was convenient. Room was reasonably well appointed, and so was the bathroom. Bathroom shower has issue similar to many other hotels - with shower controls located behind the showered - so one have choice of being sprayed with either cold or hot water (depending which tap one turn first). It was uncomfortably warm without any means to address this except opening the window. Sound insulation also hot great as one can hear what's going on in the room next door Breakfast was plentiful and absolutely worth paying for. Biggest inconvenience was the lift which is clearly small for the hotel of this size - as lift cabin size only allowed 2 person to fit, it created waits at the busy times. If price is right, I would not have any issues staying there again.

We stayed here one night before travelling upto the Lakes. Paid £70 for a family of four which I think was excellent value, which gained it an extra star!! The room was basic but adequate. The lady texted me on the day to confirm arrival time and I called her 20 mins before to arrange to meet with no issues whatsoever. Left the keys on the table the next day and everything was fine. I did ask if we could leave by 11 not 10 due to the train time but they wouldn't allow this, so a little disappointed by that. Great location, 5 mins train station and 10 mins the other way to the funicular. Overall would use again at that price for a one night stay, but wouldn't stay any longer than that.

The place is tidy, well kept . the room was large and the maintenance of everything was very good. Andrea the owner is forthcoming, available to answer questions, he comes every morning and is happy to assist. breakfast is self service. the food is in the refrigerator and you can make your eggs, coffee, toast etc. it is 15 min by foot to the train station. 15 minutes by bus from the old city. the neighborhood near the hotel is quaint. it is not romantic, the location is above a lawyers firm, it is actually an apartment above a lawyers firm. and it is not a hotel, you get the key to the front door to the hallway. I think there are 5 or 6 rooms altogether. most people prefer to stay in the old city, which I can relate to. I think it is a good deal all things considered. not sure how good the AC is in the summer.

I had a wonderful long weekend here. The apartment is right in the city Alta ideal for exploring the medieval streets and buildings on foot. Yes it can be noisy on a Saturday night with people out on the square but you are safe up in your room - and it’s great for people watching! The apartment was kept immaculate and the reuse of pallets and crates as furniture throughout is so cool! The kitchen is well equipped including coffee machine and Jesus Armando comes up to cook fresh breakfast for the guests every morning - try the Venezuelan breakfast! I would thoroughly recommend to solo travellers - a warm welcome, safe, clean, close to all sights and hosts who can recommend walks, cafes, bars and restaurants. If you book as a group I imagine you would get the whole apartment! Can’t wait to go back :)

I stayed here for two nights on the advice of a friend who lives near Bergamo and while the price was more than reasonable, as a solo traveller I wondered if I should pick a cheap hotel. I'm glad I didn't. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was and remained a good temperature and the complementary breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice of food options and a relaxed atmosphere. However, even if service isn't that important (after all, will you be spending much time in the hotel other than to sleep and for breakfast) the location is unbeatable with the funicular taking you to Citta' Alta a short, 3-5 minute walk away and the same time gets you into the heart of the shopping area of Citta' Bassa. When I return to Bergamo I will book here again due to the helpful staff and easy access to the main areas of the city.

We stayed end of June 2019 for one night, 2 kids, 1 teenager + 2 adults. It happened that I booked the property following the recommendation of another Bergamo host, who was fully booked during the requested period. The house is some 5-10 minutes walk (with trolley suitcases) from the bus stop of the old city "Citta Alta". It looks exactly as shown on the pictures. Clean, relaxing with its own spirit. The rooms are big and bright. Very simply furnished, but very welcoming. The linen and towels sparkle. The breakfast was delicious, rich and served nicely. We shared the kitchen with a Dutch couple in a very friendly atmosphere. Cristina is a great host and a lovely lady. She gave us full support for everything we needed/requested. The day we left (and forgot to pay :-(, Cristina and her husband took our luggage and brought it to our car, as I got lost in the maze of the narrow Bergamo streets and was not able to find the way to Cristina's house. We are all in love with Bergamo and liked Cristina and her place a lot, so will definitely go back one day. Cristina your are also welcomed to come to Sofia and be our gest. Best regards from all of us!

The B and B is in a very good position in Bergamo. It is very clean and pleasantly decorated. The breakfast was very nice with a good selection. The B and B is run by Giovanna and her son, Lorenzo who handles emails. Communication was with Lorenzo was excellent prior to our arrival. Lorenzo picked us up at the airport for a very good price of 90 euros. The issues were numerous for a two day stay. We very long in advance booked in February for September 29 and 30th specifically La Fille Du Regiment room. When we arrived, we were given the wrong room, L’Elisir d’Amore, with no explanation or notification. Were they hoping we would not notice? There was a problem with the air conditioning right away when we arrived. It was only 10 minutes after Lorenzo dropped us at the B and B ,so I sent a WhatsApp message to him. He did not reply we know he was very busy with school at the time, but we found Giovanna who helped with the air conditioning issue. We inquired about why we were not given the room we booked and she said they overbooked the B and B. They had to turn a reservation away. It was more about the inconvenience to them than it was for us. And we should have been notified instead of having to ask. She said something about a discount for the mistake which we never did receive. At check out it was really stressful. Giovanna was quite insistent we were not supposed to check out until the following day. We had months ago changed the reservation to start and end one day earlier. They didn’t record this properly and Giovanna was flustered and we were made to feel she did not believe us. She said it’s only her son Lorenzo who handles the emails and she asked us show her proof of the emails between me and Lorenzo about the date change. I showed her and she said “I don’t know my son handles it” At this point we needed a taxi for our prearranged flight and time was getting short. Giovanna was distracted by an early arrival, but we were stressed out needing a taxi for our pre reserved train to Turin. She then asked us to pay in cash instead of our preferred method of our Visa card. We did not have enough euros to pay in cash and were told “of course we could pay with credit card” by Lorenzo earlier. Giovanna was visibly annoyed at us and told us to go to the bank machine. We said no we had no time and were worried we would miss our train because of the mistakes which were not ours and the early arrival of a guest wanting to drop luggage. It left us feeling poorly and the mistakes were not ours. Lorenzo did ultimately apologize and tried to clarify the issues. But as a guest, especially one who books so far in advance and confirms everything, it is a disappointment. Giovanna is pleasant and serves a lovely breakfast as I said. But the issues and being made to feel like we were wrong made us uncomfortable. We never did get the discount for the room mistake especially since we paid with our Visa. The rooms are not so inexpensive that insisting on cash should

This place was amazing! We enjoyed the very modern look of the residence, in striking contrast to the medieval surroundings. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. There was an in-room refrigerator—we just didn’t realize we had to plug it in! Every one we encountered—front desk staff, servers and housekeeping--was pleasant and accommodating. Breakfast was a nice surprise because it was convenient and there were enough tasty choices. The deliciously brewed coffee and food presentation were outstanding. In fact, everything was so put together--the eclectic furnishings (a mix of modern and antique) down to the dishes, cutlery and flowers on the tables—that breakfast became quite appetizing and we felt like we were staying in a luxury hotel! Perhaps the only down side was the lack of parking—the residence was located on a narrow one-way street--but I guess that is to be expected in a historical district. Figuring a place to park was tricky, but the next day, even more challenging was how to get the car back in front of the hotel, to load our suitcases. And then again, looking at it from another point of view, the whole experience was decidedly quaint. All in all, we would love to stay in this residence again. I highly recommend it!

The GombitHotel is terrific ! Perfectly located, the hotel provides wonderful hospitality, spacious, modern accommodations , and a lovely breakfast of fresh, good quality foods. An upgraded room was offered to us upon our arrival- a very pleasant surprise. The front desk staff was also very helpful in providing informative, personalized dining suggestions and directions. The large room was very attractive and comfortable in design — we really enjoyed just hanging out in the room. There’s an abundance of lights and lighting options, the bed was firm ( like most in Italy) but comfortable with good pillows . The bathroom was also large , with lovely dark gray tiling and a good strong ,shower. The only slight issue is with the toilet - it’s a bit high , even for a female of average height ! Altogether, our experience at the GombitHotel underscored our wonderful experience in Bergamo. Definitely recommend both city and hotel!!

Andrea was absofreakinglutely amazing! He walked down the street to greet us walking from the train! He introduced us to the B/B and all of its amenities, explaining everything, in clear English, how things worked in the room and shared space kitchen (stocked with breakfast and snack food, at no additional cost). This lovely and enchanting location is wonderful for exploring cafes and cocktail bars in this historic town. Later in the evening, we walked one block to catch a city bus that brought us to Citta Alta, the medieval city. There, we journeyed back into time, ate a sumptuous dinner and came back to the B/B. The bathroom was immaculate, our room was absolutely clean, and we hated to leave the next day, but our friends were arriving to take us to Cremona. WE WILL BE BACK! I am very impressed with how much information that Andrea was able to give us! He certainly is a most wonderful host! Best wishes from Anthony and Loree/Dolores!

We are on a road trip around Italy and (regrettably) only spending one night in this beautiful hotel on top of the highest point in Bergamo. Everyone was kind and super helpful in making our day exploring the city an efficient and memorable one; room was big and super modern with great shower facilities, comfortable bed and amenities; requests for extra water and pillows were quickly attended to. The hotel is festively decorated for the season and is really romantic and cosy. We had dinner in Cucina and the food was amazing and beautifully presented. Service was top-notch! Special thanks to Alessandra, Gigi and the other bespectacled gentleman in the restaurant! The Palazzo Rivola is within short walking distance of the main Bergamo sights and the bus stop for the airport bus. It's tucked away behind the main drag so very little traffic. We didn't hear a peep from traffic or other guests but we were on the top floor which has no other rooms. The only noise came from the church bells but they do stop overnight. Fairly decent breakfast; nothing fancy but substantial and varied enough. I'd like to have seen some cake. And the boiled eggs need running under cold water after cooking as they were a nightmare to peel! The room was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. The only thing that would have improved our stay would have been to have been welcomed personally. You check-in online then when you arrive you sign in on the computer and collect your room keys from a PIN-controlled box. It lacked the personal touch; it's nice to be welcomed, have things explained to you and be told some information about the place e.g. restaurant recommendations. There were at least maps of Bergamo available next to the desk.

I’ve only stayed in a hostel once prior to this trip & usually don’t even consider checking out hostels for accommodation when travelling but booked this hostel, based on the recommendation of a friend that lives in Bergamo. What a great recommendation that turned out to be for all 3 of us that stayed. Easy to find, just a short walk from the train station. A very friendly & informative check in & we were quickly in the lift up to our floor with our room key & a fob (needed to access the building after, I think, 01.00 but it could have been earlier). Our room was big & clean, fairly basic but still a lot better than expected. With a laminate floor, 4 single beds, smoke alarm, air con, wall mounted tv, dresser, full length mirror, safe & plenty of electric sockets. There were secure lockers in the room with the padlock costing 2.00 Euros. No issue with noise from inside or outside of the building & a number of windows allowed an abundance of natural light. Electric window shutters & blinds kept that light out in the mornings when sleep was the priority. The bathroom was a nice size & well equipped with a laminate floor, shower cubicle that wasn’t the biggest, shower head & hose on rail with easy to control flow & temp & with great water pressure & plenty of hot water, bidet, wall vent, window, wall mounted hairdryer, spare electrical socket, small sachets of hair/bodywash & towels that were changed daily. Breakfast was served in the adjoining bistro from 07.30 to 09.30 but it was noticeable that they rushed to start clearing & cleaning from approx 09.10. Two breakfast choices , both buffet. Italian, which was basically just coffee & a croissant & cost 2.00 Euros or continental, which had coffee, tea, orange & pineapple juices, mini waffles, ham slices, cheese, yoghurts, fresh bread rolls, dry breads, croissants, corn flakes, choco pops, fresh whole fruits, jam & honey & which cost the unbelievably low price of just 4 Euros. The bar in the hostel didn’t seem to have too much activity. I had to go to reception & staff from there would come to serve me. Reasonably priced with 33cls bottles of Peroni & other Italian beers costing 2.50 euros each. We could also bring in our own beer or wine ( & food ) from a local supermarket, so long as we cleaned up afterwards. There is a large communal room with comfortable seating that was great for relaxing & meeting & chatting to other travellers with a large screen/tv & table football which cost 50 cents per game. Also in this room, large left luggage lockers which cost 1 Euro for 6 hours. There is a computer room, free for guests to use, with 3 pcs. Car parking, I believe, was free. There is a very nice outside area which would be great in summer for sitting out & chilling. There were recycling waste bins all over the building, impossible to miss. Available to purchase were deodorants, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors & shaving foam, toilet rolls & ladies sanitary products. Umbrellas were also availabl

We’ve only spent there one night in this place. Everything was very good, quite clean, coffee machine and some sweets on the floor, nice terrace (which we were allowed to use for a small dinner as we were so much fed up with restaurant food during our trip that we decided to buy some cheese, bread, veggies, villa, ham and wine and simply dined on that terrace) Breakfast was ok, but I would add some more options. Personally for me it would be great to have some cheese. But otherwise it’s enough. Coffee, tea, eggs, jam...we aren’t big portion eaters anyway.. We liked our stay. Everything was easy. Also we arrived a bit earlier - which wasn’t problem at all. Then later on I saw a missed call and sms from the lady saying: “dear, did you arrive? Is everything ok?” very kind, indeed...I miss this approach.. The only problem for us was the entrance to the parking spot. But we have a huge car, so, for a smaller one I think it would be ok.

This is a charming small hotel. The street presence is just a door - you have to be buzzed in initially, and then there is a 9? stair climb to the reception area and there you find the elevator. We had no issues with this. The staff (Angelica and Fabio) were very helpful. Breakfast buffet was offered each morning in a side room. We felt very secure in this hotel. Our room key came with a fob which allowed us to enter the hotel from the street. The room was clean, but dark (no ceiling lights). This is in the "upper" old Bergamo and the hotel fits in perfectly with the surroundings. They provided a parking space in a covered parking lot for 20 euros per day. Definitely worth the cost. Easy commute by funiculare and bus to the "lower" town. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to Bergamo.

No parking at building, but owner liaised with us, parked and returned car to us, although parking does cost extra and is a little bit steep. Breakfast possible outside in charming courtyard. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was on the roof, but as it was winter it was closed in and had heaters, so very comfortable. There was a great variety of food available. I did have trouble with the wifi connection in my room, which the staff were unable to explain to me as to why, it wouldn't work. It did work in the breakfast room and the foyer downstairs! Fab small hotel conveniently located right next to the upper town, Citta Alta Fenicular (up to the Vigilio Castle) and Gate to the old town (Sant Alessandro). The Gate is the final stop for the airport bus from Milan Bergamo airport. At €2.70 it’s the cheapest airport transfer I’ve had for a long time. The hotel has a restaurant and bar area with seats inside and out. There’s also a great pizza place right next door and fine dining options up at the Vigilio as well as in the old town itself. We really enjoyed the hotel. The stylish room 25 had everything you could want but it wasn’t designed for any degree of modesty. The shower and toilet are in separate closets both with glass doors. The shower is completely see-through and although the toilet door is smoked glass it doesn’t shut properly. Not great if you’re with a friend rather than partner or if you’d rather pee in private! The sink area is in the bedroom so washing your hands after a middle of the night loo visit will wake ep your room mate. It all looks good but one night of it drove us mad!

Lot of books and TV) with hot water and tea - Breakfast included (and it is not simply breakfast as corn flakes): coffee, bread, ham and yellow chease plus sweets. - good location (long walking distance - aprox 5 km) in green area. Nearby a bus stop number 3 to old city - towel is available on reception (one per traveller) - friendly staff - big fridge with drinks for 1-2 euro Perfect view for downtown and citta alta. Definitely it is the best hostel I ever slept in.

Our family of four stayed in the family apartment. A lovely place, perfectly suited to our family (2 adults, 2 children ages 8 and 10). The apartment was very large and very clean, and the hosts are friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast was large and delicious each morning! The location was perfect and we walked several times to upper Bergamo - about an hour uphill (downhill on way home!), and stunning views the entire way. I would recommend this hotel and hope to visit again one day!
