To start with I pretty much agree with previous reviews of this hotel. The negative points are that it is definitely a little 'tired' and the rooms would benefit from some TLC. Having said that there is also something rather nostalgic about the hotel; it reminds me of a faded glory and is quite charming. Our standard room was large with a huge comfortable bed and a side view of the sea. The door to the en-suite creaked rather loudly, which made night-time visits a bit noisy, and the shower was pretty poor, with very low pressure, and situated in a whirlpool bath (not tried) which meant the base was sculptured to sit in so a bit awkward to stand in. There endeth the negative lesson. We had booked this through Secret Escapes and had half-board. The food was wonderful, to put it mildly. The deal gave us a welcome drink, which turned out to be a glass of prosecco at dinner, but we got it at every dinner! Also the 2-course meal advertised was in fact 3-courses, plus garlic pizza bread to nibble on with the prosecco. Wonderful pasta, fabulous meat dishes, great fish, including sea bass baked in salt one night, and superb desserts – the tiramisu was sublime! And breakfast was wonderful, including, as one reviewer has mentioned, the foccacia bread. And the carafe of house wine very nice indeed, and reasonably priced. The staff also make this hotel a real delight to stay in, especially our waiter Daniel, who was always cheerful, friendly and a really great waiter. The reception staff were very helpful and we managed to park outside the hotel in their marked space. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. The hotel is literally 2 minutes from the harbour, and 5 min from the train station. There's an excellent supermarket about 3 min away which catered for everything we needed.

The location of this hotel was perfect -- a short walk from the train station and across the street from the seaside esplanade. Beautiful water view and extremely pleasant, helpful staff. The hotel is located very near the dock for boat tours to Portofino and other Italian Riviera sites. This was one of the highlights of our trip.

The hotel is well situated just on the lungomare, with many of the rooms having views of the ocean. The staff is lovely and very friendly. They offered restaurant recommendations, offered to help wherever possible and generally made you feel quite welcome. They have adapted to the current covid regulations, with the breakfast layout, the use of masks and the sanitation regimes. The only thing to keep in mind with this hotel is that depending on the season and the room, there is a bar next door and some evenings it seems that they have a rather amateur DJ who likes to play his music rather loudly. So if you're looking for an early evening during a weekend, this may not be the place for you.

This hotel is very central to Rapallo and just a short drive away from the E80 motorway. This hotel is also only 15 mins away from Portofino by car. You can also get a boat to Portofino and other locations from the Ferry jetty just outside the hotel. The hotel 'Sky Bar' is worth a visit. It offers fabulous views over the harbour and beach area. With regards to parking - when you first arrive at the hotel they have an 'arrivals bay' just outside the hotel - you can simply park here and unload and then the staff park your car for you in the car park opposite. The hotel has an arrangement with the car park opposite. You can park for 24 hours for 12 euros per day. You can come and go as much as you like for this. The room we had was comfortable but we had an internal view - unfortunately, the building behind is a bit run-down so the view is not great. We were offered an upgrade to a room with a balcony and a sea view on check-in - but because we were only stopping one night and were not spending much time in the room we declined. We were offered this upgrade for 60 Euros. (this also included breakfast). The rooms were of a good size. The bathroom was very spacious and the shower was excellent. Very clean, good sized TV. We had a kettle in the room and a fridge too. The shower was great. The breakfast was a great surprise. The selection was fantastic. The pastries are fresh and baked on-site each day. The staff also brought around smoothies and croissants as soon as they were made. Very good selection of hot and cold food, very tasty cakes, fresh fruit, meats and cheese plus smoked salmon! If you are looking for a central hotel with an excellent breakfast you should stay here. Portofino is expensive - but you have to expect that. As well as getting a boat or a bus to Portofino you can also drive - but please note the parking is limited and expensive.

Hotel is well located to easily reach beaches as well as the train station and walk around the town. Portofino is also pretty easy to be reached from Rapallo. Parking is a bit of a problem in the surrounding area but the hotel was helpful in this regard and provided special permit/pass to the parking lot. The surrounding area is absolutely gorgeous, plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops are available right outside the hotel. The hotel is not easily visible from the main street, it’s located within the mall building but it is medium sized as you enter, which we didn’t really expect upon entering the reception. Rooms are pretty clean and well-sized, but the hotel needs some renewal/maintenance. Breakfast should also be diversified. Other than that happy with the stay and would recommend the hotel to others as well for the price-value ratio.

We stayed 8 days at this very charming hotel while on a Road Scholar Trip. Our room was charming with wonderful views of the Ligurian Sea, where we could see magnificent sunrises and sunsets. The owners, Alessandro and Sara, were incredibly friendly and helpful with any questions we had. Our room and bathroom were kept in meticulous condition. The buffet breakfast was good with all kinds of juices, coffees, yogurts & granola, cheeses, egg dishes and pastries. The service in both the restaurant and the front desk was 4 star!!! Would recommend this hotel also for being located closely to so many fun shopping streets and easy access to the railroad station to travel along the coastline of the Liguarian Sea to other towns.

We selected Rapallo as our base in the Italian Riviera as it is very close to Genova, Portofino and the Cinque Terre. It worked out to be a great choice - 15 minutes by car to Sta. Margarita Ligure and another 10 minutes to Portofino (buses/trains also available) and 15-minute drive to Levanto/Cinque Terre Card train service (or a 5-minute walk for Rapallo train service to the Cinque Terre). The Hotel Riviera is a great choice, located directly on the piazza overlooking the sea, an just a few steps from the historic town center with restaurants and shops. Our sea-view room was lovely, though with an extra bed (perfect for a small family), a little crowded. The bathroom was clean and well appointed (one note - bring your own shampoo, as none was provided). The staff was very attentive and helpful. We were provided with parking for our car (extra fee, about which we knew in advance) right opposite the hotel. The breakfast buffet was well-stocked and laid out in a sunny room. And there was a great morning market set up along the sea promenade on Thursday morning - with everything from food to housewares and clothing. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay in Rapallo.

Situated right on the shoreline next to Rapallo Castle, this hotel is a fabulous find. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and minded our bags when we arrived early. Our room was very large, with a small sitting room that opened out onto an enormous verandah. The view across to Rapallo and the harbour were stunning. Very quiet too, considering the location. The bed was comfortable (but it was twins pushed together) and the linen was clean and soft. The only thing in the room that could be updated was the old cupboard - it was a bit musty. Bathroom well appointed with a large shower and plenty of towels. Excellent breakfast which was included. Easy walk of a couple of minutes into the town, you are right in the action here. Thoroughly recommend.

I'm surprised to read some of the reviews, especially those that complain about difficulties accessing the hotel. Six of us stayed here last week as part of a motorcycle tour but it was very clear that getting to the hotel would be quite an adventure. The hotel is some 4-5 miles out from Rapallo and at an altitude of approximately 2000 feet.Basically there is a cable car that runs from Rapallo to the adjoining church or one narrow steep road with a number of hairpin bends. However the journey is absolutely worthwhile, as the hotel is beautiful with outstanding views. Yes, it's 'only' a three star hotel but the rooms were all perfectly clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming, especially our waiter Pietro who, despite speaking very little English, looked after us wonderfully well. And the restaurant was terrific with traditionally cooked proper Italian food. My only slight criticism would be the relative lack of choice with the breakfast but the food itself was fine. However this is such a great hotel and the location is simply stunning! Definitely a hotel for the fit and active and probably not suitable for those who are not confident drivers or who don't have a head for heights. But we would all return!

Wonderful find! would most certainly recommend this little gem of a hotel. Situated in a lovely village within good approximity from all tourist routes ie bus to Santa Margherita to catch ferry to Portofino, trains to explore the Cinque Terre area - just wonderful. Staff very friendly and most helpful. TV very small could really do with some bigger screens - but then again you're out most of the day. Breakfast could do with a little "more" but good enough. Would we recommend this hotel. Yes. Would we return for another stay. Most definitely.
