I must say this hotel is exceptional in every way. I came to Budapest and stayed for 4 nights Friday-Tuesday. The first night the hotel managed to sort me out a table at the rooftop bar (see view pictures) lovely food and drinks, very good value for the standard you recieve. Breakfast in the morning is buffet style with cold meats, pastries, hot selection etc. Plenty of choice and they bring you coffee fresh OJ etc. The staff here also helped me to ring my airline to check baggage restrictions etc and went above and beyond particularly the young guy on reception his name begins with "B" but I can't spell it 🙈 very kind and everyone always has a smile. The hotel even have helped me to store some things for my friend to collect later- nothing is too much trouble. Photos of room attached.

Everything you could possibly want an a city break. Excellent central location, near to airport link. Staff were utterly lovely staff; delicious & varied breakfast; clean, comfortable rooms and nights were quiet. Really made feel welcome and an VERY well stocked honour bar was as surprising as it was admirable. Hugely impressed - just so sad that they're now pushed into a ridiculous situation with the closing of the borders 3 days after we left. Hope all goes well and the tourists will be welcomed back VERY soon.

We arrived outside the apartment around midnight, and had called two days in advance to tell the owner about the time we would arrive. He told us it was “no problem”, we just had to call the same number when we were outside the apartment. We called several times, and waited outside for about 1 hour in pouring rain, and no one answered the phone or opened. We had to find a hotel, which was not easy because everything was booked for the weekend. There was no taxi available, so we had to find a bus and were walking around in pouring rain in the middle of the night. We finally found an available hotel, and payed around 100€ for one night (4 people). The next day we called Expedia (the company we had booked the apartment through), and they were not helpful at all. They talked to the owner of the apartment, and he said we could come any time. If we did not want to stay at his apartment, we would have to pay the cost for a new place to stay by ourself. They also did only refund 60€ for the hotel we had to pay for. We then went to the apartment again, and waited outside for about 30 minutes, and the owner continued to tell us to wait “2 minutes”. Then an old woman finally came and let us in, and she told us she was not finished cleaning yet. She had clothes/sheets still in the washing that she had to wait for, and continued to clean while we were in the apartment for about 1 hour. We figured that the apartment was probably occupied when we arrived last night, and that was why the owner did not answer the phone. Horrible experience with the owner of the apartment, and we got little to no help from Expedia.

We were a little disappointed with the apartment. We arrived in the dark, and unfortunatley the Manager due to meet us was delayed dealing with a another guest who'd arrived unexpectedly. This was partially our own fault as we were later than planned, but we had phoned ahead to explain. This meant we were waiting outside for about 20 mins, and were getting concerned we were in the right place. On his arrival the Manager was extremely helpful and explained everything well. Our apartment was small, as we expected, but well equiped, a large comfortable bed, well equiped kitchen and small shower room. However our apartement window looked out over a very scruffy courtyard, with bikes, bins, and builders rubbish left around, and we didn't get much daylight in the room. The rug, cushions and sofa were stained and could have looked much better if they'd been cleaned. There was black mould around the showere tray and sink in the bath room which is a little off-putting. There are a few steps, then a lift to the other floors. The location is excellent, a short walk to shops, restaurants, and tram stops, 2 minutes from Margaret Bridge, and 7 minutes walk to the railway station. It is a quiet residential area so peaceful at night. Value for money for sure.

We arrived late on Friday and sandor (the owner) was awake (at 4am) to ensure we got into the apartment. It is, clean, and has all the facilities you'd need. It's In a really cute apartment block and literally 5-7min walk to the Christmas markets and the town centre, fashion street, the river etc etc. I couldn't fault anything! The apartment for 2, we had the smaller one, so it's like a studio, but really well equipped and warm when you come In from the cold outside, we had a great stay and it was literally just as a base as we wanted to be out and about, and it's served us perfectly. Felt safe walking around at 1am over the weekend also

From the moment I booked our stay, the staff were so helpful through email and then in person even more so. A special thanks to Kristof in reception who kindly printed our tickets and organised our taxis and made us feel so welcome by having a chat with us. And Mátyás who was so helpful when we needed our heating altered. Those two young gentlemen were really lovely and so pleasant and professional, it's so nice to see that. The apartment was lovely clean and extremely warm which was brilliant cause it was snowing outside! We arrived late, but they had emailed us our instructions of the key and apartment, they made it so easy. We were able to walk everywhere cause it was so central. We will definitely stay again. This place makes a home away from home, nice quiet and independent place to stay, but if you need anything those staff are there for you too! no problem. Thanks guys 😊

We stayed here over New year Eve and booked the hotel after seeing positive reviews in The Daily Telegraph and The Guardian as well as TripAdvisor. Firstly the positives, the location is very good, central but not noisy, the size of the room(we stayed in room 1) was good and the cafe very nice in a french bistro sort of way. That's about it for the positives. As an earlier review has said, its very difficult to see why the hotel gets good reviews and recommendations and we were shocked when we got into the room. The decor of the room and bathroom is very tired with peeling paint, and very basic furnishings. The bathroom is a horror, the bath has worn enamel and flexes when you stand in it. The shower is simply an attachment to the bath and to shower you need to kneel to avoid water going everywhere. The wash basin is basic too and there is nowhere to put any toiletries except the window ledge which like the rest of the room and bathroom, hasn't been decorated for many years. In a hotel with the name Lux you would expect some toiletries to be provided but besides bath gel, soap and a shower cap there is nothing else - no shampoo etc. The TV is not a widescreen and is at least 20 years old and is pretty useless. The free minbar is basic with no nibbles and it would be far better that the hotel invested in updating the room rather then providing a free mini bar. Although it was a peak time, the price bore no resemblance to the quality of the room and we tried to avoid coming back to the room until we absolutely needed to. If the hotel spent some money updating the decor and providing more facilities and a working shower then it would be ok, but until that is done, I would recommend you read some of the other critical reviews before you book a room here.

Fab hotel. Thanks to Milan and the girls on reception. Uograded our rooms and delivered a surprise fruit platter for my birthday. Clean and spacious rooms on fourth floor. Clean and comfortable rooms and very quiet. Great breakfast and reception staff all very helpful. Well placed to see the sights. Easy walk to metro and tram stops. Worth taking HEV train to Szentemdre for a day away from the city. We managed it with ease with a 70 and 80 year old relative in tow. Bistro on corner of Revay Street was well worth a visit..we dined twice and the food was excellent and very reasonable. No 16 bus saves the climb to the fishermans bastion and the no 2 tram is a lovely ride. Enjoyed this trip enormously. Would stay in 12 Revay again without hesitation.

This hotel was beautiful. The location is great not in the city center but right Infront of the plaza, even my taxi driver told me the hotel location was amazing. It feels a bit strange to find out it’s a hotel for chinese medicine, and the breakfast buffet was a bit strange. Other than that everything was excellent.

From start to finish this hotel was excellent, we were offered a complementary drink on arrival and allowed to our room early. Hotel is small but perfect for coming back after a long day of exploring. Rooms were so nice and quirky, free Netflix and an amazing shower. Staff were so friendly and helpful. The only slight issue we had was a smell in the room due to plumbing I reckon. Will recommend to friends and family for sure! Hopefully we will be back soon!

The Soho Hotel is an excellent base to see the sights of Budapest. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff (Kitty & Adrienne) were so friendly and helpful in all my dealings with them. I arranged transfers from the airport which were first class. No issues and a fixed price. The breakfast was very good and had plenty of choice, both hot and cold. The location has plenty of good bars and restaurants on your doorstep and you are within a 10 minute walk of all the main sites in Budapest. The hotel bar is excellent with great deals on cocktails (longest happy hour in the world 5pm-10pm 2 cocktails for €6!!!) and the bar staff are so friendly. The twin rooms are not the biggest but very clean and have enough space to store luggage etc. If you are looking for a hotel in a great location at a reasonable price then this hotel would tick the box. Excellent Hotel.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel .The rooms are clean, the towels are changed every day. We had rooms in the apartment part of the hotel which is situated in another street than the main building. Our double room was tiny and without any ventilation in the room. only in the bathroom, which was rather big, was an air conditioner. The TV in the room was rather old. But in other rooms for 3 people there was ventilation and new TVs. The breakfasts were Ok. The staff wasn't present at our part of the hotel in the afternoons and there was a problem with the ironing of the clothes. The big minus- specifical odour outdoors. so, if you want to air your room you should chose the time the air is without it.

We have just got back from these apartments, they were good value for money. We had a superior studio, was quite basic but was cheap so you don’t expect anything too glamorous. Bed seemed a little hard at first but we got two full nights sleep so can’t complain. It was a good twenty minute walk to where the majority of bars and restaurants were but this didn’t bother us much because we were out all day exploring and taxis were so cheap so we just got one back at night time when we’d had a few drinks. The service from the girls at reception was just fantastic. They were so friendly and couldn’t do enough to help you. My only criticism about these apartments would be that we didn’t find it very clear on how to check in. There was a sign on the door saying you had to go somewhere else and we ended up going round in circles and then it turned out you had to check in at the first place we’d been to. Also, it wasn’t clear where to scan the fob to get back into the building so we ended up being stood outside a while trying to work it out. Luckily some other people staying at the apartment turned up and showed us how otherwise I don’t think we’d have got back in. Overall I would recommend these apartments for someone looking for a cheap and cheerful base in Budapest.

The location is fantastic – a hostel on an island where there are lots of trees, green fields and squirrels… Between Buda and Pest, not far from the city centre, surrounded by the river Danube. The hostel has a 200 sqm roof terrace overlooking to the river. You can eat sunbath, chat and relax there, whenever you want to. It is pretty unique, actually. The staff is kind and helpful, the whole facility is clean and in order. There are pubs and restaurants in the close vicinity of the hostel, which may be loud at times, but only until 11 p.m. At nights, the place is quiet. When you wake up in the morning, you can watch the sunrise from the terrace while sitting there and drinking your coffee… To sum it up, it is a perfect place for taking a break. And if you want to enjoy urban vibe or have a party, it is only 15 minutes away.

wasnt sure what to expect, very cheap to stay in the christmas period, .but was pleasantly surprised , on first impression when you are walking up the stairs to the reception, i was thinking i made a mistake booking this place , as all the signs lead to the "hostel" reception, but i was shown up to my apartment it was exactly as i imagined, very clean and tidy, excellent location, right by St Stephens basillica in the heart of the Christmas Markets, contacted reception for a few things, taxi, information, etc.. , was helpful every time , would definately recommend these apartments for a city break , i spent 5 days in this beautiful city

We were 6 portuguese guys travelling to Budapest for 5 days. We booked an hostel, normally we would take an Airbnb, but it was the best decision we had so far. Location - Best you can have, we had plans for 5 days to visit the city and around, but we didnt leave the hostel area, where you can have restaurants, pubs, clubs, money exchange, 24/7 supermarkets, pretty much everything you need. Facilities- Everything was clean and tidy, our room was quite big and clean. toilets also with 3 big showers. the living area is also really nice full of tables and places to sit. you also have a kitchen that you can use. Staff- This is why the experience was so nice. everyone was really nice, from the beginning until we left. Always in a good mood interacting with you and cheering you up. They also have a free dinner everyday ( we didnt have it because we eat quite late), at night they have a lot of activities for you to socialize with everyone around and outdoor activities such as boat party, pub crawl, etc. and even let us stay through out the night drinking. To improve- Nothing to say really, maybe the bar closes quite early, but its understandable due to the noise. maybe a bigger ashtray Summing up- Would recommend 100% this hostel, all of us thought this trip was amazing, and everything went the best possible way, and the hostel played its part. We would like to thank Miriam, Victoria, Julliete, Barbara, Antonella, Rob, Clara, Damian and the rest for everything, specially when my broken friend needed an ambulance ahahah

Stayed 4 nights at the end of January 2020 as a couple in the Joy location and Diamond apartment. Highly recommend this property for so many reasons! Firstly, the excellent location - within walking distance to the Jewish Quarter, minutes from a major transport hub, supermarket round the corner and a bunch of great restaurants and bars not far by foot. Also very handy if you are attending a performance at the Erkel Theatre (the Opera House was closed for renovation at time of visiting) which is literally a 2 minute walk around the corner. Secondly, the apartment is really well equipped and super cute! The kitchen is capable of preparing full meals if needed, and the living area is spacious despite having a sofa and dining table and chairs in it. The bathroom is well designed with a powerful shower and good lighting at the mirror. The stairs leading to the mezzanine bedroom are steeper than we're used to, so be aware if you have mobility problems. The bedroom area is compact but efficient - we literally slept and ate breakfast, then headed out to explore for the day before returning after dinner. Oh - did I mention the full size pinball machine each apartment has, or the range of musical instruments on offer in the apartment?! Thirdly, the customer service we experienced was exemplary - from the moment we met the member of staff to show us to the apartment and around it, to checking out at the office, where they kindly stored our luggage for us and arranged a taxi to the airport later in the day. The company owner popped in while we were checking out and the first question he asked us was if we'd had a good stay and what could he do to improve our experience! This is a company that clearly puts the needs of its customers first and always strives to exceed expectations. In summary, the apartment we stayed in gave us a little taste of everyday life in Budapest, was really well appointed and equipped, and its location enabled us to get around the city easily. We always felt safe and secure in the apartment and the local area. If you're after a comfortable stay in Budapest that is quirky and gives you a glimpse of how locals live, book this accommodation - you won't be disappointed!

Checked in late in evening and was given electronic key to 'Garden' side appartments on 4th floor. Elevator had builders wood floor, sides and tape inside?? Strange?? More surprises to come when doors opened. Paint tubs, drills, plastering tools & buckets etc. facing us. Automatic lights came on in corridor to show us wooden sheets covering tiled flooring & halogen lamp on scaffolding pole with smell of recent paintwork. Apartment door would not open with key after repeated attempts. Left Significant Other with case glowering at me for chosing this building site place for first visit to Budapest. Returned dowstairs. Queried Receptionist that we had misundertood location of our room. Helpful girl then returned to appartment door with me and finally opened the door after more attempts. Internally, apartment was stunning, Exceeded expectations ! Huge 55 metres of space with seperate bedroom. Large living area, and kitchen area with all amenities you could ask for. Looked as if we were first into these renovated rooms. Within the apartment it was 5****+. However, next morning, @ 7.22am no hope of lazy, quiet start to the day, as hammering, sawing and drilling started, on all floors below us! There had been no prior warning when booking or checking in that squads of builders are renovating all five floors on the hotel's Garden wing. (Work expected to finish early April) Given enforced early awakening, I walked round to local Lidl (7/8mins) for freshly baked rolls, pastries etc. On return door would not open with electronic key. Fortunately Significant Other had showered and dressed by then, and let me in! After breakfast, and leaving apartment, we forgot somthing, returned, but could not get door opened (yet again). Another trip to reception! Manager, plus Foreman builder all unable to gain entry. Finally with a special piece of electronic gizmo (and a further 30 minutes) door opened. "New locks" system was aparent reason. Apologies. Lost a morning's siteseeing but promised all well on return. No firther problems with door during stay. Each morning builders started from 07.00 with attendant noise of sawing, drilling walls, hammering, plastering, talking and some radio noises. There was no noise by the time we retuned later in the day. Pity about being roomed in a building site, though. The other appartments (Izabella) facing, are 2 or 3 bedroomed, and management might have considered guests needs of peace and quiet for their vacation time and roomed us elsewhere in the building, rather than encourage a negative review like this. There was no offer of any compensation. Management were however, quite understanding that guests would not normally be expected to be subjected to major renovations beside/below where they are roomed. "Unable to make any cash refund due to pre-paid through hotel booking site" Offer of one free night in Budapest valid one year. Accepted a free taxi ride back to BUD and some wine

The apartment was perfect. It was huge, high ceilings with A/C. Black out curtains and shutters. Clean bed lining. The apartment was spotless. Small kitchen, but we didn’t use this. Shower was powerful and big!. We was placed in block B which is just through the court yard. Only negative was our new neighbours on the 3rd night didn’t know how to talk quietly before 7am and their door was constantly opening and closing (slamming) but this isn’t the hotels fault. If I was to come to Budapest again I’d book here without a doubt. Location was fab, short walk from everything. We didn’t get a taxi once. Sooo many food places. From the airport we got the 100E bus which took you straight to Kalvin, the apartment was a 5/10 min walk from this stop, it only cost 900HUF.

I stayed in this hotel over the first weekend of August, it was reasonably hot outside, but the air-conditioning worked well and the room stayed cool. The room was simply furnished, the wardrobe was actually quite small, but sufficient for a short stay. The room was clean and the bed linen was not worn or torn, as I have experienced in Budapest at more expensive hotels. The bathroom was clean with reasonable quality towels. All of the bathroom facilities worked well, especially the shower, which was large and efficient. I had requested a room with a double bed, but was provided with one with two single beds. The room was large and had an excellent view of the park and the large wheel, however as it was on the front facing the main road it was quite noisy, especially late at night with the youngsters in the park and my first night stay was quite disturbed. Also as access to the building is via a bell downstairs which buzzes at the reception area, it was quite annoying every time some guest want to come in as it was very audible. It would have been nice to have had a fridge in the room and also a personal safe to store valuables. A plug in the bathroom sink would also have been nice and some hooks or hangers where it would have been possible to hang the towels in the bathroom. The staff were friendly, especially the lady manageress and the kitchen staff were also quite accommodating. Breakfast was adequate, with both cold and hot choices, with eggs, bacon etc. as well as more healthier options. The coffee was good. If I chose to stay here again I would request a room away from reception and the main road.

We have just spent 3 of our 4 nights at the beautiful House Beletage and would love to be able to give it a 10! This would have to be the best accommodation we have ever had. The furnishings are spectacular, the cleanliness is amazing and the service is unbelievable! Our thanks must go to Zolst and staff for being so helpful, accommodating and respectful at all times. The extra touches - champagne for our arrival New Year's eve, chocolates, nuts, biscuits and more, were such a lovely touch. Complimentary breakfast was incredible with all food and drinks constantly being monitored to ensure nothing ran out. Another lovely touch is free hot drinks available at any time. We found it very quick and easy to walk to any areas we wanted to go to as it is very central. The Boutique Hotel is also very quiet being situated on a side street. We would highly recommend this for anyone coming to the beautiful city of Budapest!

This is freshly renovated palace, with a few buildings, inner yards, private parking and old park. Quietness and romantic atmosphere pays off the distance from the city centre. We spent 5 nights and were upgraded to suite overlooking to park and located in the main palace building. Our room was great, stylish, clean and very comfortable (just we noticed that unless you leave towels on the floor, they are not changed). Breakfast was abundant and tasty, just small and almost windowless breakfast room itself was a bit dissonance to the overall atmosphere. This hotel has great staff - all receptionists we met were very pleasant and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay in Klebelsberg!

Stayed here for 5 nights at the end of January. Hotel was very easy to find almost opposite Semmelweis Klinikak Metro station though I arrived at the weekend so on the M3 replacement bus service. Checking in was fast though the tourist tax appears to be based on the room rate the supplier pays to hotel not what you pay to the supplier as it was considerably more than the 4% I was expecting to pay. I had emailed in advance and asked for a room on a high floor and ended up with a suite on the top floor with access to rooftop terrace and fantastic views over to the city and Gellert hill. Was only staying on a room only basis but having the fridge, kettle and microwave was great to make breakfast and snacks. There is a LIdl about 5 minutes walk away to stock up on supplies. Plentiful toiletries and towels in the bathroom though at times there was a bit of a drain smell which other travellers have commented on. Large double bed was also very comfy and always had a great nights sleep. Room was cleaned every day and a couple of times a fresh bottle of water was also supplied.

After reading some negative reviews I was concerned I had made a mistake, but I was pleasantly surprised. The location in the Jewish Quarter is great. Near the Newyork Cafe (a must visit) and close to some great eateries. I recommend Lado. I’ll outline some good points and bad. Good: comfortable beds, clean sheets and bathroom, cute balcony overlooking the quirky terrace. I liked that. I asked for an inside room and not a street one - very good choice ! The reception staff were so helpful, pleasant and informative. We had a late flight departure and we were allowed to leave our bags in a secure area. Rooms were pleasant. Shower was hot and powerful. Bad points: Our room was a bit dark and dingy but we were only there to sleep. Tv didn’t work. No shampoo provided. Coffee machine but you’re only given a couple of free cheap coffee sachets. No tea. If you like tea, maybe bring your own ! There is a fridge but you have to pay for anything you consume. The carpet looked a little dirty by the skirting. Only one small towel each. I like two as I Like one for my hair too. Breakfast and coffee was cold ‘sometimes’. Not an awful breakfast as there was quite a lot of choice. Fuel for the day. Not as bad as some have made out on the other reviews. I may have listed a few bad points but the good outweigh them really. It’s a good price and a decent bed for a short stay In a great location ! I would stay here again. Point to note. The entrance is a bit weird. Strange door entrance. Sometimes a bouncer is there, oddly! But it’s next to Burger King and a Metro as a landmark. You must pay in cash. Hungarian currency is much better as it works out cheaper.

Location is good, very close to the Danube and can be walked. And it is close to the classic 2 bus which is known as the most beautiful line. There are supermarkets around to buy things conveniently. It was not easy to find at the beginning when we came out of the train station. We searched for a long time. But this location is really convenient from the place of play

We stayed for 4 nights, booked through a BA holiday deal and had a great time, would definitely come back here again. The staff were helpful and friendly. The place was also very clean, which was very important to me. The breakfast is great, and I'd recommend adding it, as I couldn't find good breakfast spots in Budapest on days when we went out super early. The rooms aren't huge, but they didn't feel cramped. We didn't feel like we were tripping over each other. I liked the buildings unique design and was thoroughly impressed how light the rooms were, and also the strength of the black out curtains when we wanted an early night Would definitely stay again Also if your looking for other Budapest recommendations we suggest Baths, the funciular, zoo cafe and Zing Burger

We was in room 224 for 7 nights 2 single beds but pushed them together even better than a double, the room was perfect for what we wanted reminded me of a cosy caravan, shower was excellent and plenty of cupboard/shelves space. We had 3 evening meals in the restaurant which was very good and drinks was very reasonably priced. The man on reception was excellent for information Obviously it was quiet on the boat as we went in January. Ideal location for us as we walked everywhere around Budapest 90 miles in 7 days 😉 Would I stay here again............Definitely

The hostel type has public restaurants and lounges. The heating is sufficient, the traffic is close to Elizabeth Bridge, and the travel is convenient. The two of us booked a triple room and ended up with four beds, so we could put things at will. Front desk attitude is also good, providing tourist maps.

The hotel should be chosen by tourists who are ready for hiking in the city. The hotel is located not far from the historical and tourist center. Within 10 minutes walk to the central part of the city, to the waterfront. There is private parking for cars. Friendly, multilingual staff. Breakfast buffet. Democratic prices for accommodation and food.

Last year we were in expensive hotel, and for that price we expected more.. So this time we choose Park&Art and we are very satisfied. Price is good(98 euro for two nights- two persons). 300 meters away is private parking (4 euro per day). There is an excellent restaurant near called Paprika. Apartment was clean and had all you need to feel comfortable. Taxi is very cheap but choose taxi service not a freelancer. Taxi service price is one euro per kilometer and for start about 2,2 euro. City center is about 4 km away. And building where is the apartment looks very interesting.

We were dropped off 6 blocks off target by our miniBUD van driver. Once we finally walked and arrived at the correct address, it appeared to be an apartment building. It's a bit confusing because the name plate for the hotel is small, gold and not on the call box. It's actually on the wall of the building so it's easy to miss. We ran the bell and the very lovely manager of the 5 room hotel came to let us in. The courtyard inside appears run down with lots of mildew or similar around the brick planters. Then you enter the little hotel. Wow. Completely redone. 5 cute bedrooms modernly decorated and a very pretty bathroom. There is a communal kitchen that the 5 individually locking rooms can use. I did not hear any street traffic but I could hear other guests moving around mid morning. It fit our needs perfectly and was very reasonable.
