Everything was fine, except the last night because the guy working at the reception (it was someonelse every night) talked so loud with a client at 1:15 am during 10 mn just in front of our room's door that he woke me up. He was talking very loud like if he was in a pub and not at all at 1:15 am in an hotel with people sleeping in their rooms. I had to get out of my room to ask him to shut up and after this I could'nt sleep before 3am ! It's a shame that this is the memory that will remain of this stay in this hotel while without this indelicacy, it would have been very good

The Balbin was an unusual place to stay -- not quite hotel, not quite B and B -- but I grew to love it. First though keep in mind that parking is not available there, so a car is an issue. (It's easier to arrive via transit or taxi, but I had a car and had to deal with it and that's the main reason -- that and no AC -- is why I did not give it five stars. Had I not needed parking I would have given it 100%.) And you won't need a car because the Balbin is located within a stone's throw of Wenceslas Square and public transit, an easy walk. The hotel takes up only part of the building, as other floors still have tenants in flats and apartments and is up on the fourth floor. If you are looking for air conditioning, keep looking, because like many other hotels in Europe it doesn't have it. ON the other hand, our room had a very large roof window that popped open and let the heat vent itself out. We were there after a heat wave had broken and so the air was pleasantly cool and fresh and we had no need of AC or even a fan. The room was fairly spartan but quite clean, and unlike a lot of places we stayed, actually had a full bath and a bathroom large enough to move around in. The beds were comfortable enough. Breakfast is included with your stay and consists of a classic Continental-style meal of cold cuts, different types of bread (excellent rye bread) cheeses, fruits, sweet rolls, and to my unexpected delight -- olives. The dining room is on the next floor down from the rooms, but only does breakfast. The structure, as said before, appears to have been a number of flats and was built in 1887, If I recall correctly, and has wide stairways, high ceilings and a teeny elevator which I rarely used, being somewhat claustrophic. If you're looking for 'new', this isn't for you. But it has its charms. But what really gets this place its high marks is the amount of care and trust and knowledge of Prague that the owner has. The desk is not manned 24/7, but there is a fridge stocked with pop and beer and other things that you can help yourself to so long as you write it down on a chit and pay for it later. Worked a charm. And helpful? I have never in my life stayed at a place where the owner/manager bent over backwards so much to make my stay pleasant. He solved my car-parking problems, told us the best ways to get around, called cabs for us, insisted I take up a breakfast tray to my wife who on the first day was just too tired to come to the dining room, discussed Czech literature with me, places to see, and so many other things. And the woman who worked the kitchen and dining room was as sweet-natured a person as you could want to meet. Tiny staff, but big big hearts. Honestly, you could not ask for nicer people. If history is your thing like it is mine, Balbin is sitting right on the front lines of the Prague Spring uprising in 1968. The owner said there are still tenants in the building who were at the barricades made of burned out and tipped

The price was cheap, the room was clean and I was able to spend very comfortably. Also, when I stayed, I was doing shows in the underground bar and it was quite exciting. It is a recommended hotel for backpackers who want to engage with various people.

We stayed in this hotel for three nights. It has good access to public transport (5 min walk to tram or metro station) and there are some bars and restaurants nearby. The room was small and tidy. The bathroom included towels, shower gel and shampoo as well as a hairdryer. The breakfast was in the basement and consisted of a basic buffet which serves a variety of hot and cold dishes/beverages. The staff was friendly and were able to assist with any questions. You are able to buy public transport tickets at the reception which was very convenient. Unfortunately the Wi-Fi is, as many other users have pointed out, atrocious and I had to use mobile data most of the time. Overall we enjoyed our stay and can recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay close to the city centre without paying too much.

Breakfast was abundant and delicious, so I enjoyed it every day. The employees are also friendly and the service is satisfactory. I don't have a slipper toothbrush, so I'd like to bring one, or go to the other side of the road or walk within 100M to find a supermarket. Unfortunately, at around 9 o'clock every day, employees came to check the minibar (sweets, etc.), so I couldn't relax. Other than that, it is a good hotel near sightseeing spots.

Truly a four-star hotel. The hotel was a bit far from the city, except everything was amazing with all the facilities (Gym, Sauna, etc.). My daughter (2yrs old) also enjoyed a lot. The staffs were friendly, it was super clean and beautiful. The best part was the breakfast, it had lots of options and was mindboggling. Definitely will recommend for everyone!

Love the style of this hotel! Simple but chic! Nice mattress and delicious breakfast! Perfect location. The hotel provided free guided tour to the old town, free snack in a cozy library and wine tasting. Definitely worth the price! The only complaint is that we stayed 3 nights and they did not clean the rubbish bin and refill water and toiletries on the second day.

Traveled to Prague with my family. There are 5 of us, so we required two rooms. One room was the standard European 2 twin beds, quite small, but adequate. The other room was much larger with a king sized bed and a full-size pull-out couch and a lot of extra space. Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. The lobby of this hotel is very cozy with stuffed chairs, couches, and electric fireplaces. The check-in counter is also a bar which was quite nice. The breakfast is very good with many hot and cold options. The hotel is about a 25-minute walk from the main action, a straight shot along one road. There is a metro station only two or three blocks away as well. Since the weather was nice, we mostly walked to downtown, but did use the metro to go to Prague Castle. Overall, would recommend for a reasonably priced, comfortable stay in Prague.
