My husband and I were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary with a few days at Virginia Beach. We were a little leary about staying in a hotel we hadn't heard of before but we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly. We had a King Suite. The view from the balcony was beautiful. The breakfast each morning was very good, much better than a continental breakfast and the folks working the breakfast room were very friendly. If we ever return to Virginia Beach, we would definitely stay at the Coastal Hotel and Suites. Highly recommend.

I booked a trip for my children’s father and our two young children. It was a celebration spur of the moment getaway for our daughter’s final surgery. They have never been to Virginia Beach and when I found the Seaview I thought the views alone would be worth it. Unfortunately, The staff made our trip miserable. For starters there was hair all over the bed, pillows, sink and bath tub. There is no room service, if you need anything you have to walk down to the front desk and get it yourself. Our kids wanted to go swimming the pool was so cloudy you could not even see your hand through it. You would think they would shock the pool while it is closed but no they instead shock the pool the hour it was supposed to open making the pool inaccessible and closed for the day. The manager, Maria, has no business being in hospitality as she has to be the rudest front desk manager of any hotel I’ve stayed at. I had requested for an extra 30 minutes at checkout (which the website allows you to do) I was informed if we are on the property even a minute after 11 AM we will be charged a full nights stay. This was the first I had ever heard of something like that as most hotels have no problem giving you a 30 minute grace period Especially with two young children. It’s just not family oriented. I honestly wish I would’ve spent the extra $80 a night for a hotel that would’ve given my family the experience and memories they were hoping for.

The facts speak for themselves. This hotel was not ready to be open to the public. The manager claims that the advertised the hotel is under ”renovation”. I did not see such an announcement and I booked through their website and their front desk. None the less, it was not a renovation so much as full on construction tgat started at 7:30 am and continued until 7 or 8 at night. During the day the one elevator was mostly unavailable as the construction crews didn't know better than to let the hotel paying guest use the elevator. I should note that the elevator had a covered up hole in the floor. Yes, a hole in the elevator floor. So besides the excessive noise the REAL problem is the COMPLETE LACK OF SECURITY for both on the HOTEL GROUNDS and in the GUEST ROOMS. When I checked into the hotel the front desk issued me a room key to Room 713. When I opened the door, there was someone in the shower and stuff strewn about the room. Obviously it was someone else's room. I went down to inquire and was give keys that proved not to work to room 613. A third trip and I had keys room 613 that worked finally. At this point I discovered the hope in the elevator floor. And the woman in the elevator indicated she had had someone enter her room the night before. The second day of my stay I inquired with the ”manager” about the noise, the elevator, and the rate.... or I was going check out and go to another hotel. I was told by her that at the end of the week(Sunday) she would ”take care of it”. So I made the unfortunate decision to trust her and stayed. The third night tgere was a disturbance in the hallway. The young people who were responsible were aggressive and under the influence of something more than alcohol or ****. But when sent to find these people hotel security was unable locate them. Apparently they weren't guest of the hotel. They were just passing through. On Saturday,05-28-2022 at about 6 pm, some person (not hotel staff) tried gain access to my room with a key issued by the front desk. Later the same evening (approx. 11:50pm) another person was given keys my room and tried to gain access. These are just the two ”room invasions” I know about. What really happened the rest of the week when I wasn't in my room. On Sunday when I went to speak to the management, she offered an insultingly low discount which I refused and ask to speak to the GM or the owner Mr. PATEL. I have left a physical note and called 3x or more and the owner Mr. Patel is to cowardly to talk to me. Interestingly the hotel jumped early and fully charged my card on the third of six days. I guess they knew there would be a problem as hotels NEVER close the tab until the guest checks out. This tells me they expect problems. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else.

I was only here for one day but I had a blast. Maybe come during the week for a cheaper price. It was my first visit and my girls. We had a good time for our short stay there. I wish I could have stayed longer. Its on the expensive side so plan ahead if you want to stay here. A 200 deposit is requested at the time of check in to cover damages during the stay. Your deposit will be sent back after you check out without damages. The pools were nice and the room is lovely. Its like having your condo on vacation.

It was a pleasant surprise to see a fully equipped kitchenette with high-quality utensils. Very clean and spacious room. Only suggestion for the hotel management is, please provide at-least 3 chairs; for a double queen bed suite, 2 chairs are not sufficient. The noises from the lobby and hall can be heard from the rooms which can disturb your sleep. The management should take care of this. There was no toothpaste in the bathroom. For tea, coffee etc, one have to ask at the front desk. Hotel does not provide any info on travel guide/sight-seeing. One have to plan ahead and get all the info about sight-seeing themselves.

The front desk clerk who checked us in was sweet and bubbly and asked for my permission before giving my children cookies. The clerk at checkout was also kind. The location was exactly where I wanted to be. Upon walking into the room, the AC had not been cut on so it was very warm. I found dirty napkins next to the trashcan and two random pills missed by housekeeping. I had two young children with me so this was alarming. As they were found next to the trashcan there was no reason housekeeping should have missed this. I requested to pay for a late checkout, but was declined. I do understand policies in place, however I have worked for hotels for 10 years now. Accepting late checkouts on days you are not full is easy money. I know they were not full as I had the option to extend my stay if I so chose. There was only ONE luggage cart for this entire property. A hotel of this size needs at least two if not more. We were unable to use a cart during the stay and they also did not have anyone available to help with luggage. The lobby, hallways, and rooms are dark and dingy. The outlets in the rooms got hot to the point it made me nervous. I would say I paid $100 too much for this hotel (at least). Do not waste your money. I will stay somewhere else next time.

I saw some of the reviews for this place, after I stayed here. I was surprised at the confusion. Clearly all the issues mentioned did not meet me here. it is a nice hotel that is exterior corridor which does not allow pets. Staff is wonderful and caring in each instance that does not deserve what is published here on this site. Also management should be proud of what they are doing here in the most positive way. Rooms are clean and newly renovated. Lots of places to eat with 2 shopping malls within walking distance. Rest assured I will be back to check out the area on my next stay.

I stayed at this hotel for 1 night on business and one employee stood out among the rest. Mr. Barry at the front desk was so polite, courteous, and extremely outgoing. After a great explanation of all the facilities the hotel has to offer I watched Mr. Barry interact with other customers and he definitely wowed me with his customer service. This is a very nice hotel with great views but I, myself would come back just because of the great customer service I received at the front desk

Decent hotel with INCREDIBLE staff!!!! Mrs. Shirley at the front desk was wonderful, night manager was very accommodating for our 30+ group that got in very late from a tournament. Security was on sight, available, & easy going considering the amount of activity in the hotel it was nice to see them present but not overbearing. All in all, the STAFF MADE OUR STAY EXCELLENT! The rooms are dated but the staff make up for it. Thanks for showing up to work last weekend with smiles on your faces! It made a huge difference in our stay & experience.

I’m grateful that we stayed here on the Bay rather than in the strip along the ocean boardwalk. It’s more family-friendly than, say, the Jersey shore's, but still. The day we arrived was so busy we couldn't find a cart and waited 10 minutes for an elevator. M-W was better but it was still much faster to walk up to/down from the 9th floor rather than wait. We had rm 906, a corner room above the pool, overlooking the beach and the State Park. It had a gorgeous view. No balcony though, unlike all the other rooms. Also, unlike other rooms, you enter 906 into the bedroom, which means you have a nice view from the bed but the sitting room is dark. So dark that in the daytime you can't read without a light. I found it depressing. Moreover our sitting area was half the size of the others because the stairway steals the space. The room was not worth the nearly $700 it cost us on the weekend. Not sure it was worth the $400 the other nights. The room was very clean. The beds/pillows were comfortable. However, the sheet + blanket only went up my elbows. Odd. Bring a blanket. The bathroom was tiny. Tiny fridge too. The common sitting areas on the 2nd floor were great. We ate twice at the hotel. Not vegetarian friendly. Only salads. Otherwise the food was good. We had to wait an hour for a table on Monday at 2pm, even though there were plenty of empty tables. Terrible. The cabanas on the beach were nice. They cost $50 for the beach cabana and $15 for each recliner. (You can only comfortably fit 2 inside) The beach wasn’t good for walking: no shells and it’s not fine so it doesn’t compact. The bay has no waves…so perfect for the elderly or kids. Lots of great restaurants in the area. All in all, it was a nice experience. I'm not sure I'd go back though and I'm glad we only spent 4 nights there.

We needed a hotel close to the airport for a one night stay prior to going to OBX. We didn't have a car but used the hotel's shuttle service with no issues. Staff here was very friendly and very accommodating. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and the bathroom was clean and nicely updated. My roommate did have a problem with a cold shower but we were up early so maybe she was one of the first to use it?? I had no issues shortly afterwards. Breakfast was your typical hotel breakfast, nothing special but it was fine and we were able to find things we liked. Overall a very good stay.

I asked for privacy (Grade-5). I asked for Nonsmoking (Grade-1). Condition of furniture-rust under microwave (Grade-1). So I changed rooms..complete turnaround (Grade-5). BUT my key would not work requiring MULTIPLE trips to get replacements (grade-2). So after I settled in, it was average, BUT it took my assertiveness to get there. I should not have had to see rust under ANY circumstances. Silence in the hotel business is considered complacency. Staff should report up & make mgmt look good. Mgmt should make condition reporting a normalcy so they CAN look good.

I chose this hotel because of its proximity to family we were visiting. It is clean and comfortable, except for the heating/AC. The outside temperatures were in the mid-50s. The unit could not be set for heating or cooling but only to the desired temperature. When it was on, the air blowing was freezing. When it was off, the room got uncomfortably warm. Still, the room was very quiet and otherwise comfortable and well furnished. We were especially impressed by the staff. The housekeeper spoke to us in a very friendly tone each time we encountered her in the hall. The receptionist spoke to us each time we passed the desk. The woman coordinating the breakfast spoke to all as she arrived and the one time we passed her in the hall, she greeted us in a very friendly manner. She was attentive about replenishing the food and kept the serving area very clean. The food was typical ”free hot breakfast” but always fresh and quickly replenished. The make-your-own waffles were better than most such waffles at other hotels.

This hotel was clean, well appointed and had free parking!!! The food at both Coach's Sports Bar and Grill, and the events I attended was not the best but was not awful. It could use some tweeking. The real stars of the weekend was the staff. I did not encounter one unhelpful, unfriendly person. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful at check-in. The housekeeping staff provided us with extra towels and one young man went out of his way, stopped what he was doing, and got me some additional coffee for my room. The bartenders and waitstaff at the bar were bar were friendly and fun! The gentlemen who worked out events were awesome! Any hotel can have awesome food where maybe even non-guests go, but when a hotel has a staff like the one at DoubleTree Virginia Beach it will bring return visits from guests. That is priceless in this day and age when customer service is not the priority. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

My daughters favorite hotel on the beach - and the extra amenities for families allows me to work from the hotel if necessary - while my munchkin still has fun.. she loves the kids club even at 10 y/o and the private mini movie theater because she can go ”by herself” since I am only a few feet away. The indoor lazy river pool is a huge hit - and clean and maintained. The outdoor pool is BEACHFRONT..almost in the sand its so well located. The few times we have stayed there the staff was always above and beyond helpful. Downfalls - The A/C units could use an upgrade and the breakfast spot needs some decor upgrades but the food is REAL (not ”pretend scrambled eggs” ) and well prepared and service is good. I wouldn't consider it a ”Luxury” hotel and the seasonal prices are equal to the fancy competitors but I guess that depends on how you define luxury - my daughter would choose this hotel over the new Hilton without question.

In late June, we returned to this property for the first time since the height of covid. We have been coming here for more than 20 years. As a lifetime Marriott platinum member, I cannot say enough about the beauty of the ocean outside each balcony and the remarkable location of the hotel itself. The staff were wonderful from the beginning. We came as a family, with my husband and me from Maryland and our son and grandson from Phoenix. Before the trip, I had spoken with Front Desk Manager Daniel Sanchez, whom I had never met until I entered the property. He could not have been more helpful or more welcoming to us all. He made a special visit even more special because when you come from the Washington, D.C. area in heavy traffic the whole way, you feel so special to be welcomed by Daniel's smile and daily request if he could do something for you. Congratulations, Marriott, for having such a devoted Front Desk Manager as Daniel along with the rest of the staff. A very, very satisfied guest

The staff was kind, start there, nothing wrong with the service. One of the front desk staff did not speak much to patrons (guy with bleached hair on top) but they could have been having a bad day. There are two ladies at the breakfast area, one is kind and one is extremely rude. Water leaks in the bathrooms from god knows where and goes to god knows where. the bathrooms are perhaps 4 feet by 3 feet, very small. There is too much moisture in the hotel, books we brought to read are wrinkled. Bedsheets are not changed, towels are not given unless asked for. Trash isn't taken, you have to put it all outside the room. Pool is not cleaned on the regular. Snack area is limited and there are not many appealing options. Breakfast is lower than average. Eggs are worse than fake eggs, sausages are so salty that you can't eat them. There is no granola, no fresh fruit, never boiled eggs, always the fake scrambled ones. We come yearly, this year we booked late, so we had to go with a different option and this was it. There are no ice machines, or if there are no way of knowing because information is not shared. The floors are dangerously wet, all the time, so are the elevators. They only have one luggage cart for the whole hotel to use. There is only one elevator which everyone uses. That means maintenance, cleaning, incoming and outgoing patrons, causes for long delays using the elevator. Ultimately, the best part about this is that most of the workers are great to interact with and try their best. However, we will not be coming back to stay at this hotel. There are too many other hotels, that are oceanfront options that we've had a better experience at and are going to book now for next year.

Just so anyone reading this review knows that I am not one of those chronic complainers, I would like to say the Hampton North had a GREAT complimentary breakfast. Different eggs, meat & potatoes everyday & staff was wonderful. Now, why I gave a 2 star rating. I rented a two queen & a suite for six nights. Both very small. We played cards sitting on bed because neither had a table. Two bed room had one chair. ”Suite” had one chair, king bed & pull out sofa. Could barely walk between bed & open sofa. ”Suite” also had good size counter & sink. In ”suite”, two adults, two children under 12 & baby. Had to put some stuff on balcony because not enough room. My biggest complaint - Sign in room states ”to schedule housekeeping, call front desk. Called 1st evening (Sun.) for next day. No one showed. At 3:30 Mon. called & desk clerk said she would call housekeeping & get back to me. Never did. Called again & was brought towels. When I asked about the trash, he returned with large trash bags. Each room only has two very small wastebaskets, couldn't even put a takeout styrofoam container in it. Needless to say, trash was overflowing every day. For the rest of my six night stay I had to call everyday to get clean towels & empty trash. Twice desk clerk told me to put towels & trash in hall & go to desk to get towels. I replied I was not paying over $400/room/night to do my own housekeeping. One day after some begging I got the rooms completely cleaned. Also, restaurant did not open until 4:00 pm. Would have been convenient to be open for lunch.

We have been owners at this property since 2008. This year has been the worst, starting with check in. Those details are based on poor training. But the worst part was finding a USED CONDOM on the floor of the room we waiting hours beyond checking to access. On our second night my son stepped on it, it was just underneath the edge of the mattress. Ans while everyone in management we talked to agreed it was disgusting, nobody really wanted to compensate. We paid $1300 in maintenance fees for the year to stay at a FILTHY resort. The pool deck wasn't clean, sand and food/restaurant debris on the ground and loungers, which were also never clean. The pool stayed cloudy. The restroom in the lobby, under previous ownership, was constantly cleaned. Now, puddles of standing dirty water in the floor are not just a fall hazard but unsanitary. Tortuga, the ”restaurant,” which is more like a snack bar, continued to have overpriced drinks, but the menu is mostly food that seems to be cooked and kept warm in a crock pot. Nothing on the menu requires utensils, except salad. Skip it and dine next door at Lager Heads. I asked to be compensated for the maintence fees. If I had paid out of pocket to start at the resort they would have comped the nights or we would have left and got it all back. The GM offered me oy 1 night initially, be settled on 2 nights comp. Based on my maintenance fee, not the going rate at the Hilton next door, as initially offered. This property needs a major overhaul of staff and baseline expectations of the staff. Stay away. Hilton Grand Vacations will need a long time to get their act together. But hey, at least they are bringing in B2 workers to help.

My bestie from school days and I stayed at the Schooner Inn for 3 nights Sun July 10 til Wed July 13. We were originally booked one day less but chose to add a night because we wanted to thoroughly enjoy the Hotel view in good weather since our first night was cold & rainy. The view of the Inlet, Surfer’s and quiet less crowded end of the beach is spectacular and makes all other locations pale. We had an Oceanfront Efficiency that was the perfect room for two females with lot’s of luggage to spread out to use all of the spacious room at this Hotel. We had donuts and coffee daily at our dinner table in front of the windows by our private balcony. The balcony was the perfect way to start and end the day with gorgeous views of the beach. From the second we arrived four hours early and did preliminary check in with our request for a top floor room, until the last evening with a self-induced flying insect issue after accidentally leaving the balcony door open while out for dinner the staff were always friendly, professional and proficient. Zack (maintenance), Jessica(housekeeping), and Kayla? (front dest) were exemplary in what customer service should always be. My friend and I took the local trolley to the far other end for ice cream one night where the high priced newer chains are located. Both of us said that trolley journey confirmed our choice for the scenic original end of the Boardwalk. The supposed “nice new” end was congested, loud and a little less safe feeling. Should I return to VA Beach again I will only stay at the Schooner Inn without question. Beautifully maintained hotel with the best view on the beach.

I made the reservation through the Choice Hotels phone app at their Econolodge unit on I-64 Northhampton Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA.. The rate was quoted and paid in full in advance by credit card on the app. On arrival, the desk clerk advised that a local additional charge of $6 would be applied. If I have a guaranteed rate that's prepaid, I asked, what is the extra charge? I don't know, she says, I just have to add it. And so it begins. I arrive at the room that reeks of smoke. There's multiple cigarette burn damage to the plastic frame of the a/c unit. There's also a burn hole in the bedspread. This bedspread hole causes me to look at it closer to find that the beds (both of them) have been made up without blankets -- each bed has two sheets (top and bottom), two pillows in pillowcases and one thin bedspread. As I've been on the road all day, it's time to shower. At the bath, I find two thin washcloths -- no hand towel(s), no bath towel (s). This dicrepancy prompts a call to the front desk. I use the nightstand phone that goes straight to busy. I hang up, wait several seconds and it goes straight to busy. Again and again and again. After maybe 20 cycles of this nonsense, I use my cellular phone to call the hotel. An autoanswer says press ”0” for the front desk. After 15 seconds or so, the autoanswer recycles. I press ”0” again, wait it out, it recycles and I press ”0” again. This routine went on for 54 minutes. Now it's a trip back to the front desk. First we discuss the phone. She knows the house phone doesn't work but was surprised that the outside line failed. She got it to work while she talked to me. Then we come to the missing towels. There are none, she says. How can that be, I ask. None of the rooms have towels. The check-ins I'm doing now are going to rooms with no towels. When will you get towels? Maybe in the morning!!! Aren't towels part of the hotel experience? If you don't have towels the rooms shouldn't be in inventory. Sholder shrug. With nothing more to be said, I'm back to the room again and decide to call Choice Hotels to start a complaint report. I call the toll-free number to get an auto-answer about how important I am and they'll take my call in order. Twenty-one minutes later and probably 52 auto messages about how important I am to their organization, the auto-message changes to ”it's taking longer than normal to answer your call, please hang up and try again later.” 21 minutes it takes them. If they're not going to answer, tell me after the first minute rather than the 21st one. It seem, then, that there's absolutely nobody minding the store. Local management can't manage. National customer service can't customer serve. Where do you go when there's nowhere else to go -- except vote with your feet so that it never happens again -- at least with Choice and their Econolodge units. And don't get me started on the overflowing trash and refuse on the stairs and halls. The whole plac

I brought my mom for her 75th birthday. It was our second time staying there (1st time being April 2017 with my two brothers and also my mom). Jumping Shrimp was a major disappointment, as I never did get to try out their shrimp and grits. The coffee bar in our room wasn’t stocked, which my mother quickly reminded me of. Otherwise, we had a great stay

Staying in two places of BW in a row, the beach parking and staying, the scenery is particularly good. The breakfast was poor and the room was small. The ocean view room is a great place to watch the sunrise. From time to time, you can see fighter aircraft training or cruising at low altitude. Going to the beach is definitely a great decision.

Located at the lower end of beach, it is convenient to the ocean beach, and restaurants. Pool looked inviting, but was geared to the younger crowd. Remodeled bathroom and tile, although it was incomplete in spots, on balcony. Check- in is weird as done on an iPad with remote agent. This hotel also charged an “xtra” fee at check-in. Night agent is very rude- and pulling up to register is not convenient. Parking is across the street and not on property. Rooms are mostly partial ocean view . We managed, but probably not stay here again.

What a pity that in such a central location, there is little pleasure to be had from staying at this hotel. The receptionist was cold and unsmiling, with not a hint of welcome. The room had a decent bed, but with only a sheet and cover. There were two polyester blankets on a shelf and I had to unzip them and put both on the bed to get reasonably warm in the cold and windy May weather. The room heater/cooler is a metal box attached to the wall right next to one of the beds. Every time the thermostat turns it on or off the noise is enough to jolt you awake. I ended up wearing foam earplugs. There is no breakfast available in the hotel, and no microwaves in the rooms. Although arriving by car is pretty much the only option, parking is charged at $7 plus tax a night. After leaving here, I checked in at a hotel of similar standard and vintage at my next destination, Ocean City, and the contrast was striking: a super friendly receptionist, a full comforter on the bed, a restaurant with breakfast for purchase and free parking. There are dozens of other options along Virginia Beach: choose one of them instead of this place.
