The service was good. Welcoming front desk. But it's a rather old hotel. The rooms have definitely been renovated but you can tell it's old. Corridors are not very well-kept although the rooms do seem clean. Can clearly hear the guest next door and anyone who talks/chat outside pretty clearly. (Guest next door was vomiting at night and we could hear it rather loudly). The place is suitable for a short stay. Amenities were all working great despite the old building. Aircon cold, heater working well. I would suggest to change some items such as the toilet paper cover which will make the room look nicer. The corridor and lift as well, make it look neater and more put together 👍

Service was great. I booked my room with balcony but when I got my key to check-in it was not what I booked. I called the front desk to confirm and they said that the picture and what I booked is no longer available. But 10 minutes later, staff called back to say I could upgrade my room. Thanks for making my stay a wonderful night.

Very friendly staff, they will answer any questions you have and will greet you with a smile. The location is suitable, there is a bus stop located very close which is convenient. The breakfast is simple but some toast, cereal and coffee it good for me. The bathrooms are always clean, and there is always hot water. The rooms are clean with convenient storage. If traveling to Singapore by yourself specially for my ladies this is a good place to stay. Oh and there is an amazing ice cream shop close bya and may restaurants.

We arrived at Pine Hostel 16.08.19 at 21:00. We had a 4-person room reservation. We were looking for the 4-person room, because we didn't want beds in the common rooms. The booking was confirmed by credit card, but the payment was not write-off. A day before the alleged check-in came a text from the booking site that it was necessary to update the card data. What was very strange because the card was not changed and used actively. But to avoid tempting the fate, everything was updated. On arrival, we were informed that we could not pay our number with a credit card. Although the booking was indicated that the card payment was possible. More interesting: it turned out that we could not be set in the room we booked. They have some problems. They were "very" apologized and offered to settle us in 2 different rooms for 2 people. According to the owner, these rooms "will be even better, and since it is his fault, he won't take money from us." It's good that we guessed to go see these "best rooms." One room was a size of 2 square meters, in which you can only stand (because there was no more room) with a two-storey bed. Attention: There was no door in this "wonderful" room! Carl, room without door! Apparently, the hostess understood that we would not agree and offered another option - 4 beds in the 8th local room without windows 🤦. He offered it all to give us 4m. To get into this room, it was necessary to pass through the women's room (for 12 seats) and, of course, in the proposed room too there was no door! 🤷🙎 Yes how??? How there people live?? ! We were in shock! The hostess canceled our booking at this time, pointing out as a reason - the invalid credit card!!! That is, this "great" man made us guilty! The operator from Bucking could not help, because as the booking was canceled because of the invalid credit card, we are "own." On our observation that the card is all right, and it is in the hostel not taking the card because of their technical problems, he did not answer anything. Or did not answer that we could not be set in the room that we booked. And the replaced rooms are terrible! After talking to the Bucking operator, the hostess came up to us and offered to replace our booked room with another. But in another hostel. By entering the site of this hostel, we were terrified even more. Apart from the clops, garbage and other "charities" from the reviews we learned, that people throw with bookings. Just like in our situation. Promised and dispatched one for sale, but actually provides absolutely another. As a result, we started looking for a room in other hotels that are not cheap in Singapore. People never book in this hostel of the room!!! If you are settled in the room, then without the door, or at all throw, like us! There is a complete deception!

Stayed here a couple times cause of the price and convenience. But please be aware that the walls are really thin both front and back of the rooms so it can be quite noisy. My few stays with them 80-90% the people next door are always very loud and noisy. I had to call the reception multiple times for them to take action. Other than the convenience the room is so so only. toilet can be quite tight and small because of the layout.

The transportation is convenient, there are many places to eat around, the beds are very comfortable, and the staff are very polite. This is my second stay but it also made me feel very disappointed 😞 I decided that I would never choose to stay at this hotel again for the following reasons. 1) Because of the experience,I have indicated that I would like a quieter room when I booked the room, but the staff at the counter still gave me a room near the road and the birds is very noisy at night , the counter said The room is full and cannot be changed. 2) I booked 2 single beds (Deluxe twin room), but the counter staff assigned was double bed room for me. When I called to the counter, they said they would find someone to come up and split the bed with me. My point is the customer has booked the room, and the hotel should be ready to give it to the customer sooner, but unfortunately they did not do this. 3) The air conditioner was broken and asked if I could replace it with an electric fan. I immediately refused, and I couldn't accept it. In the end, I was willing to change the room to me.

This youth hostel is very good. I have lived here for 20 days. The staff who have made friends with the locals are very kind. There is a handsome guy called Hatta 🤵‍♂️, and every day, he will help others patiently answer other people’s questions. If you want to travel, he will also give you the most sincere advice. The address of the hotel is very good, and the surrounding area is very cheap snacks, very authentic. It is very close to Little India, and the traffic is very convenient. The most important point is that laundry in Singapore is very expensive. 5 yuan! Singapore dollars, but you can wash clothes in this hotel. It's free Recommend a personal trip to live here especially for people who want to save money like me. It’s very safe inside. All people are very kind and will help others. The comfort is the highest in the same price range. The most kind people at the same price of comfort. Friendship forever

There are many hostels for backpackers around Lavender Street, and I booked this capsule type room from the price and the evaluation on the net. First of all, from Merritt. The location is about 5 minutes walk from the lavender station and there is a bus stop in Jalan Besar even if you use the bus. The price is also good, with no big difference between the capsule type room and the dormitory. Also, the capsule is different from Japanese, and it can be completely locked from the inside, so it becomes a private room, and there is a sense of security. There are several improvements. First, the number of keys. The entrance on the first floor is different from the front desk, but for this reason there is one card key. Next, one key to open the door of the room where the capsule is installed. Finally, a card key to use your capsule will carry three keys in one piece. Although it is water around, there is a shared shower, but all towels and soap must be prepared by yourself. The shower room is narrow, and if you don't devise to bring a bag, the clothes you take off will get wet. The capsule also has difficulty and there is no power inside. So I couldn't charge my phone or my computer. There was a USB terminal, but it was broken. There was almost no smell to worry about, and the mattress was clean, but I felt the cheapness of the price. Still, the evaluation is high, so I receive that the quality of other hostels is worse.

Booked the loft room on level 4. My room 401 was further away from other rooms thank god. The staff was friendly but always not a front reception. Feels like a one man show. You will need to use a card to enter the hotel so i had a difficult check in moment when no one opens the door from inside. called the number that was pasted on the door but no one picked up. had to wait till the reception sees me. i was abit surprised that the lift area is near the level 1 rooms. so imagine if your room is on the ground floor, all the guests had to walk pass your room to use the lift. the lift is super small btw. the walls are thin, i could hear the next door ladies karaoke-ing to Adele’s rolling in the deep. we could hear if someone is using the lift or walking. mind you we booked a loft and i was upstairs so thats how clear. bathroom was good, it was big and has a bidet! however the bathroom top was closed. so when you’re upstairs you could see your partner showering. phone in room not working at all. had to use my own phone to call the reception. area wise, lots of cafes around, the outside of the hotel feels like malaysia. overall stay was good and memorable.

I first stayed at the SEA Hotel back in 2014 as it was recommended by my aunt and uncle who always stay here when in Singapore. I love the place. It’s old and rustic (a throwback to another time) but for $100 SGD a night with a fabulous vegetarian buffet breakfast included (Kwan Im restaurant) and prime location in Bugis you couldn’t ask for anything more. Also when booking the staff are excellent in replying to queries and give very detailed information about getting to the hotel and airport transport options and nearby attractions. Free wifi was included and it was fast and reliable. The staff on the front desk were friendly especially the girl who checked me in. Bugis+ shopping mall (10 levels with cinemas, food/retail options galore and taxi rank) is less than 5 mins walk. I use this as a taxi pick up/drop off point to various attractions from the hotel. Bugis MRT Station is 5-10 mins walk and is on the airport line (10th station from the airport, with 1 change at Tanah Merah, cost only SGD 2.50) The Kwan Im Temple is right next door and worth checking out (it gets very busy with local worshippers). Directly outside is a pedestrian mall with a flurry of activity with market stalls and street vendors. The hotel is simple and rooms unadorned with only the basics but it’s all there and excellent value for money. They do request you leave your key if you go out and recollect (24 hour reception) but I conveniently forgot to do this most of the time and it was never a problem. Oh and don’t even think about bringing durians to the hotel!

We were a group of 12 and opted to stay in this hostel booking the whole 12 beds room, which we were very glad to have as it was the room at the top floor of the hostel, meaning the less noisy and more isolated one from the rest of the chaos. Let's start with the room: we had bunk beds with everything you may need: sheets, pillows, curtains to close them at night (great stuff for privacy this!) and personal lockers (you need to bring your own padlock). In the 12 beds room there was a private bathroom too with 2 toilets and a shower, which was very handy as it gave us some privacy. There are also more showers and toilets in the other floors that we could use. Breakfast was provided in a weird way: the first night we arrived we noticed a big plastic box in the room. The surprise was they have left us "the breakfast" for the following 2 days in there, which consisted of bread, jam, tea and coffee. Not what we expected, but it did the job. And now let's move to the worse bit of the hostel: the common areas. There is way too much people hosted in the hostel for the size of the common living space they have. The kitchen is tiny, and there is a sofa at the entrance that is always busy and with lots of people sleeping on it, so you can't really use it. The people staying in the common areas (not sure if they were guests of the hostel or not) was a bit peculiar, so we were glad to have our own space. The front desk is not very friendly but the check-in and out was smooth and easy (beware check-in is not allowed before 3pm). Overall it's a very basic hostel but the location is good.

Was given room 1313 initially and decided to change to another room cos I went with my elderly mother, who is abit pangtang about the number. Was given 0819. Was told by staff there’s no other higher floor room. We said ok but upon entering, there was a gas smell. Cleaning staff from hotel said the rooms on this side of the hotel had not been used for a long time, therefore maybe the smell. Went down to lobby to change room and was given 1616 by another front counter staff. Room was ok but maybe shower area abit small for someone who might be bigger sized. Bkfast was buffet style, so u tick on the menu and a staff will go collect for u. Variety not a lot though. On second day, we decided to ‘tabao’ back to room to eat. We requested to separate the nasi lemak from fried noodles as we don’t want them to lump everything into the box. Upon hearing this, one of the non Chinese staff seem displeased and hinted we are supposed to dine in. When we went back to the room, we realised that they forgot some items and we went dwn again. Happen to see the same staff (who was with another Chinese colleague). I told the staff politely that they might have overlooked packing some items. She jz stared at me while her colleague apologised. I said it’s ok, I will just re-tick the menu list. Whilst doing so, that same staff brought back my earlier menu. I then highlighted what was missing and she went off ( I assume to pick up the missing items). In the end, it was the Chinese colleague who passed me the missing items, apologising again for the oversight. So, plus point for this Chinese lady and minus point for the other one ( who gave the vibes of being ‘buay song’ (displeased attitude). Managed to get late check out at 1pm on the last day. So overall, guess stay was ok.

Everything here is perfect! We booked it for a mini-moon right after our solemnisation and was greeted with warmth and surprises! They surprised us a bottle of champagne and a cake for the night! The service crews were super friendly, thoughtful and always with a smile on! Everybody here was really attentive and the service provide were very guest focused. The breakfast served was delicious and hearty. We were also served with evening cocktails that comes with light bites and unlimited cocktails to taste! The in room dining we ordered was great too! We could dine at the balcony and it was really romantic. The overall environment here is serene and pleasant that allows you to recharge and relax. It made us felt like we are overseas in a resort. A big shoutout and thank you to everyone at The Barracks Hotel for making our mini moon memorable and for all the warmth and hospitality during our stay here. As an Ascott group member, there are decent expectations of an Ascott experience in all the properties in which I had once stayed (Ascott, Somerset, Citadines). Citadines Rocher (recently opened in 2020) was one of my top choices in having a local staycation because of its location and price range. However, it was an overall disappointing experience, and here’s why: 1. No daily housekeeping service 2. Our bathroom door could not close. It was completely off the ledge. 3. Reception is busy all the time. Phone calls are often not answered 4. This hotel was most probably a designated hotel used for both Malaysian citizens who were unable to return home due to locked borders, as well as returning Singaporeans to serve their mandatory 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN). There were confirmed COVID-19 cases within my period of stay. We were notified by a letter from the management. The least the management could do was to provide a mask or sanitizers to guests. We also chanced upon 2 medical workers fully donned in PPE escorted a guest to the ambulance. Scary stuff. 5. We took our own trash out of the room since day 1 of check-in. It was not cleared even upon checking out. Dear Citadines Rocher, please review your services. I had absolute faith and would like to continue giving my support to Ascott despite this awful stay.

The location of this hotel is definitely not as accessible as all other hotels I went before. It is only easier if you go via car for the first time. Subsequently when you explore the area a bit more, then you can try the path via the UBS building itself. This information perhaps should be made known on the hotel's website. In terms of cleanliness, one of the cups in my room was not washed cleanly. I can see the lipstick mark of a previous user, with some coffee dripping down that lip mark. Had to manually wash it. I would have been more prepared if I brought some detergent along. In terms of service, you must know that they do not provide additional towels for you, even upon request. You can only go and exchange with what you already have. Example, if you need an extra towel to wrap your hair, it is not possible. One room, if 2 pax, they will only give u 2 towels and one floor carpet. I think this is not a good point. The cafe lodge is nicely decorated, just that food have to wait at least 30mins, even if it is a simple set. And not all food are available. But can just chitchat while waiting, or maybe next time just order in advance. The good thing is that at least there is no insect in the room and bed sheets are pretty clean.

My wife and I have stayed in quite a number of hotels in Singapore before for staycations. For this: 1) In-Room Facilities. - When I was about to sit on the WC, i expected to be greeted by warmth. But it was not so. Guess i was pampered by The Clan Hotel's heated toilet seat. This is just a nice to have kind of facility and not a deal breaker. - Aircon. When turned on, it was too cold so we turned it off. The good thing is even though it's off, we could still feel the air is cold and as if there is still a breeze throughout the night. I notice some hotels are like that which i think is good to prevent molds. So this is a plus. - Bathroom mirrors. I love the magnifying mirror. For the wall mirror, it gets misty easily after a shower and some time after. So after showing, i can't do a shave since i can't see myself in the mirror. If the hotel had a switch to warm up those mirrors, it would be a good improvement. - Bottles for showering. When i first used the sink, i looked for the soap. I didn't find any but saw 2 bottles at the sink. They looked the same and just decided to use one to wash my hands. When it was time to shower, there were 3 big bottles in affixed to the wall. Honestly, i couldn't tell the difference after looking at the front and backs. I wanted to know which one was shampoo and which i could use for my face. In the end, i showered that day not knowing which was which. The next morning, i showered again, picking a random bottle to use. I told my wife that and she said it's labelled differently. I went to look again and indeed everything is the same except the small difference of words. I can't believe it. If it would have been more obvious it would save time and frustration. - Light. We notice there's only 1 main switch for all lights, excluding the 2 bed-side lamps and bathroom. The good for us is it's easy. We don't have to deal with multiple switches. The bad part is 2 of the downlights which were too bright, we couldn't simply turn them off while keeping the rest on. On our bed facing the TV, there was the downlight near the entrance and the downlight near the window which were too bright. In the end we turned the main switch off and just used the bedside lamp to watch TV. We could deal with it as mentioned. I checked that the room uses compact fluorescent lighting which is fine. (although i felt the downlights mentioned in those areas and the bathroom were a little too strong) I'd like to warn the hotel NOT to consider using LEDs in future as it would be much worse. This is because LEDs do not have proper diffusers, deflectors or cove to protect the light from reaching the eyes. Also, LEDs tend to be too intense most of the time when used as room lighting. - Bed. The king size bed was very good in terms of sleeping. The only bad thing was when i was propped up watching TV. I already had 2 pillows behind me but the incline was still not gradual enough so my neck didn't feel comfortable. I had to adjust by sitting up higher in order to feel fine. This can be fixed if the bed headboard had an incline or similar. - TV. It was quite frustrating switching channels. Pressing "Up" didn't mean you could cover all the channels. We had to press the main menu to go back to the channel list and select from there each time. The hotel should consider fixing this as high priority so that using the TV is much smoother. - As this is a very old hotel, before booking, we had read some reviews saying even though there was a renovation early 2022, there were still some defects. Thankfully, we didn't see any defects. Our room was 1007 (10 floor). 2) Service. Sales staff greeted us genuinely when we checked in. When the same staff us coming into the lift, she also greeted us. When we left the breakfast area, another male staff thanked and bowed to us for coming while he was talking to his colleagues. All this enhanced our experience in the hotel. 3) Window View. Only could see opposite building.

No contact check in/out was easy and fuss free. Though you would have to download the app, the hosts were always online and quick to respond to any needs. Cabin M may be small for 2 pax apart from the bed, but i stayed alone and it was just right for me. The shared baths were mostly kept clean as housekeeping would come by every now and then. Toilets were dependent on whether the other people on the same floor used it responsibly as well. Kitchen had basic necessities e.g. microwave, water dispenser and sink. Overall, I loved the location the most as it was very convenient to get food or to the MRT! Would be back again

Well located, really nice staff for everything, including informations. Bed was comfortable, good shower, breakfast simple but ok. The 2 biggest problems are the travellers who don't respect the sharing room after 23h00 (need a corfu or to be advise) and the room on the street side with a restaurant open 24/24, are to to noisy. You just get little sleep. Coming from Airport, with MRT get off at Jelan Besar exit B, turn right, walk to Dickson Road. Arrived at the hotel pretty early but the rooms weren't ready yet so the front desk took down my number so they could inform us when the rooms are ready..and that was really really thoughtful. This was a last min booking as previously we stayed in Ji Hotel and had quite a bad experience (check in was late.. and even when i was physically there when our rooms was ready they didn't even bother to inform us... only managed to check in about 3.40pm and their check out was 11am Major turn off) The location is pretty great with lots of eateries nearby and we love their lobby they have rocking sofas really love it. The room we booked has no windows but it didn't feel claustrophobic.. at night it was a little noisy due to neighbours closing the door so the walls is pretty thin. but overall i will still come back to this hotel. The hotel staff was super friendly very welcoming and very attentive. There was some signal problem with our tv and the front desk guy (who mind you changed his clothes so i assume he is on break or already off his shift) came together with the the technician to see if everything is ok. The service of the staff itself will make me want to come back to this hotel again.

I was on a quick business trip to Singapore. the hotel was choosen because as a meeting point. it was clean. a little overprices. the furniture and bathroom were clean, but very basic. for 4 stars, i would have expected more. i had a broken chair. which was repaired within 30 mintes. what i liked very much...the hotel didn't offer water in PET bottles. But something better!! there was a good quality caraffe in the room and on the floor was a water machine with provided Hot, room and cold temperature water - very good! THINK MORE ABOUT OUR EARTH!!

We are asked to move to populous hotel due to some change of ownership. I ask for a free upgrade but was rejected eventhough I explain is my friend birthday. If they can be more flexi on the arrangement, i might book again. The wall is very thin and we are so lucky that our next door neighbor is noisy. They on their TV quite loudly the night and only decided to switch it off at 6.30am and switch it on again at 9.30am. There are plug beside the bed, so we can charge the phone anytime. Toilet is also very small, think huge people won't be able to squeeze in to the cubicle. Overall location is good, service staff not so friendly, room is small but clean. Good to have a short staycation with couple or friend.

Chinatown
Exceptional friendliness and service all around, from front-desk to call operators to housekeepers to club lounge. Love the room, very comfortable bed and pillows and cleaned well. Club lounge canapés and drinks are decent. Level 21 club pool is preferred to Level 27 rooftop pool. Only downsides are - relatively small bathtub - weak water pressure for shower - dirty anti-slip mat Breakfast was tasty and filling, at The Marmalade Pantry. Though servers need to be more flexible in serving iced coffee/tea instead of stating "we only have hot coffee/tea" as they do have ice and can just add ice into the coffee/tea... Overall 10/10 will stay again.

The four of us stayed here on our visit to singapore. The front desk lady charged or room deposit instead of merely taking a credit card number to charge later in case of damages (this was against policy I discovered later). We stayed in a room with a queen bed and two bunk beds, ensuite bathroom, plus a small balcony. The room was clean and comfortable - all features functioned properly. The location is far from the main areas of the city and on the other side of singapore from the airport. A subway station is about 10-15 minutes walk away. A bus stop is directly in front of the guesthouse. It's a solid 30 minute trip away from little india or little china. Being a hostel we had concerns about noise at night but were not bothered by any. We did not utilize the breakfast option but did eat at the restaurant across the street and found it acceptable. On checkout I found that they could not refund the deposit. After working with the manager over the next several days she refunded the deposit to me via paypal instead of a credit to my original card. That was not desirable at all, but was the best she said she could do. On the whole this was a nice stay, I only advise you to be cautious about your room deposit.

Geylang
Very small but cosy hotel located in geylang. Plenty of eateries around the hotel. A nightlife worth exploring. Accessible to buses and two MRT stations - kallang and aljunied MRT. Even though the hotel is run down, the basic amenities are provided. The cheapest budget hotel we have been so far.

Staff Aishah was very friendly and helpful! Room was neat and clean, except the TV remote was dusty and the hairdryer was old and had a weird burnt smell coming out of it when I used it - I was worried it would cause a short circuit. I was disappointed the shampoo pump did not work and the mini refrigerator was not cold. The renovation works were quite loud and every once in a while, someone would be slamming the door outside (both in the day and night). It was hard to have a good rest without getting startled suddenly. Despite all these shortcomings, I still enjoyed my stay and would return if the price is right.

And I stay there frequently at cheap (for Singapore) places. Location is convenient for everything really with lots of economical eating places nearby. Rooms are much larger than average for the price and relatively well equipped including a fridge and wifi that works pretty well. Rooms are nothing fancy. They never are at this price, but they are quiet and comfortable. Last time there, I arrived at the hotel at 9am from an overnight flight. I really didn't expect to be able to check in at that time, but I was - unlike another hotel along Dunlop Street, who were not at all helpful on my arrival later than that. If anyone can do better in Singapore for the price, please say so. I can't. Strongly recommended.

Orchard Road
Stayed there for a night fully paid using cash (not using singapore rediscover voucher) the boutique hotel is located just behind LKY Oxley home. Walking distance was 10 mins away from Orchard Central. The room is spacious and the toilet is clean. The hotel provides toiletries and we had our breakfast using the hotel voucher at Artisan Boulangerie Co located at Killiney Road which is 3 mins Walking distance with a choice of pastry and offered a top up of drink to large size at $1.05. The hotel is only a 2 storey property. Front desk staff was polite except that they were rushing through telling us the T&C and house rules of the hotel and there was a $100 deposit charged to my credit card which may take some time for the refund. Sound proof isn't that good as we keep hearing sounds of slamming door whenever someone opens their room door. Unfortunately the neighbour beside my room keeps singing like a crow and as the outerside of the showing area is partially enclosed, so we can hear it loud and clear in our room. Didn't get to use the pool due to the location as it is just right underneath the walkway to the lobby. There is no privacy as whoever enter or exit the hotel is able to just look down and that is where the pool is. Although it is clean and spacious but given the location and the condition of the hotel not being sound proof, I will not patronise again.

Legendary service! Really loved our stay. Spent a long time figuring out what to do, but since I brought my 2 boys, we went to the splash zone. It was more geared for younger (0-9) kids, by 13yr old had enough fun. Most of the other times we enjoyed the pool. We didn’t eat at the hotel, as we went out to orchard road or had delivery food. The only thing I would change is that the bathroom amenities we very average. I expected nicer, but it was certainly doable. Tips. Book everything! Due to covid things get full. Go to the pool slot early to get a seat Stick around the pool for free ice cream! Orchard road is a nice walk away, so enjoy it. We walked out, ate and hung out, then taxi’d back
