The hotel is in two separate buildings, one is on the side with the ****** inside and the other is across the street. We stayed one night, the weather was bad and my wife and I decided to be safe and stop our travel for the night. The room they had was a suite, it was a bit outdated and located in the building across the street from the main building. The room was on the second floor which had no elevator or ramp to get to the second floor leaving my wife who is disabled having to navigate climbing the stairs with my assistance during a thunder/lightning storm. The hall leading to the room although a very short trip from the top of the stairs was poorly lit leaving a sense of not feeling safe in the environment. The room had two entrances, the first entering a patio and the second entering the room. There were two steps leading into the first entrance which was hard to see at night due to the poor lighting in the hallway. As for the room, it looked like a small refurbished studio apartment, The mattress on the bed was broken down to the point I sunk into it when I sat down on it. As I stated at the start of the review the rest of the room needed some upgrades for tech devices such as phone plug-in, USB connections, new blinds on the doors and windows so the sun doesn't shine into the room in the mornings, and maybe something that tells the house keeping your still there so they don't attempt to enter the room while you're getting dressed.

We had two Queen Deluxe rooms. However next to each other they wouldn’t give us the adjoining rooms with a connector door which would have reduced our back and forth knocking. Mattresses hard— but I travel a lot and every hotel must be buying from the same evil mattress company. Pool was great. Food not my favorite from a La Quinta (a powdered egg option, microwaved sausages, biscuits and gravy, assorted breads, packaged oatmeal’s and muffins, waffles. Yogurts, and whole fruit, and cereal boxes.). My biggest complaint if any was housekeepings process of checking rooms could be heard throughout the early morning. They would use a room card and click loudly on each door declaring housekeeping at 8am on a Sunday morning. A light knock would have been so much better to hear. And, also starting an hour later.

If you're coming into Ely from the east you'll see from the signage that there are two Magnusons. Though if you see someone who looks like a dead ringer for The Guy from HBO's ”High Maintenance” you're probably at the wrong one (and breathing a sigh of relief on learning that, as it looks pretty run-down) The Park Vue stays true to hotel-court ”roots”, where maybe 50 years ago you'd roll into town and that's what everything was. But hey, it's COVID-ERA now and that's apparently forced a few changes, like a bit of diminishment in the breakfast offerings. Also, the ice machine was broken in a not-sure-it's-temporary sort of way, which is a ding. Room was OK though a bit tired in places, like with a carpet stain or two and the sink/shower appearing to have gone quite some time without an update. TV selection was pretty good, including enough channels to get MSNBC. And Korean baseball on ESPN, with the crowd cut-outs behind home plate and canned audience noises. What could be more Covidian than that? The lady at the counter was nice, though I had only the initial interaction. Location is a plus, as you can walk to the downtown ****** or two (or a bar), tie one on, head to the Big 4 for a happy-ending massage, drink some more and not have to get behind the wheel for any of it. Though all that's mostly a fantasy with the virus shutdowns hobbling it while I was there. You'd have to settle for Denny's. (Also, the lone 420 dispensary isn't in walking range). So overall I'd say it's 2-stars at best on standards and not the place you'd go if wanting something at or near the top of the market, but if you're looking for something budgety and can get a decent deal then it should be in the hunt.

The establishment was wonderful. Extremely friendly staff that made me and my kiddos feel like VIPs. Food was delicious. Had a pickup full of bikes, camping gear, archery equipment, etc. because we were on a Father’s week adventure. I asked if there was another entrance that I could bring it all through and the front desk assured me that everything would be safe. The next morning everything was exactly where it was supposed to be. Thanks for a wonderful stay and the Warchildren will definitely be back!

Hotel Nevada and Gambling Hall in Ely was a pleasant little gem in the old part of town. We chose this location because we are traveling with our two pups. After doing a search on the BRINGFIDO App, we ended up picking this location. They are pet friendly and allow 2 dogs for a small fee of $15 total. The only issue pertaining to the dogs is that even though there are several open areas and parks within walking distance, there are no fenced in areas where you can just let your pups wander about freely. However, all of the staff we dealt with were dog friendly! They wanted to give them treats whenever we walked by the check-in counter! The interior of the hotel contains so many unique displays of antique items, historical photos and animal mounts such as elk, deer and ram. They definitely put their own touch in decorating! When you enter, unfortunately, you’re greeted by the obnoxious odor of cigarette smoke. If you are non-smokers, like us, this is definitely a negative! Good new though, smoking is not permitted in the rooms, so, once you get to your room, you escape the smoke. (Except the remnants of it on your hair and clothes.) The rooms are smaller than modern hotel rooms, but it was plenty for us. They’ve kept it pretty original. Wish I had gotten a pic before we made ourselves at home. The four-post bed was a little squeaky but the mattress was comfortable. You get a choice of real flat pillows or real fluffy pillows. It was surprisingly quiet and even though our room looked out onto the main street, we really did not hear any street noise. Nor did we hear any of our neighbors next to or above us. Complimentary items in the room were numerous!(coffee, bottled water, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, facial wipes) Although it is very obvious that it is a really old hotel. It’s really run down, but it was clean and smelled fresh. It would be a lot of fun to refurbish the rooms one at a time but still keeping the historical feel. With our booking, we received two free drink tickets for a beer or margarita. We also got two free breakfast vouchers (Original Grand Slam and coffee) for Denny’s, which is located inside of the hotel. The Denny’s is no longer open 24 hours though. The wait staff advised that it was due to the changes they made during COVID. Could eventually get back to normal when people decide they want to work again! We would stay here again. Lots of friendly people! Lots of character! And the price was reasonable. ($95.34 a night plus the $15 for our pups)
