|0.6km from city centerWe stayed here for 1 night in transit during our travels in Isan. We were pleased with the convenience of the place close to the proximity of the city of Mukdahan. The is a modern chain hotel which was fully booked and we were lucky to get the room. The bed was comfortable and the shower had acceptably hot water. But the air con was a bit kludgy in how to adjust the settings to create the most comfortable air flow. However, in the end we found the right temperature for the room to allow a comfortable nights sleep. For 750thb for a 1 night stay without breakfast, we found this place to 'fill the bill' with respect to our hotel needs for a single night stay in the area.

|1.53km from city centerWe had a lovely stay at Bird Day Boutique Hotel. Great value for money, very clean, amazingly comfortable bed, and good off-street parking. Easy to get to most places in Mukdahan. Right next to Big C. We would definitely stay again if in Mukdahan.

|0.25km from city centerI’ve stayed here in the past and possibly reviewed it before but in case I haven’t... Lots of great things about this place, well kept, spotless, very very good staff, comfy beds, clean bathrooms, cold air con, and very good breakfast buffet included.. Plenty of car parking and all off road. Plus many rooms get a bonus view of a large man made lake and park if you room looks west. The black out curtains are a major plus as well. The slight issue is outside dining is a bit thin on the ground, best grab a tuk tuk and head to the river, some nice dining options there..

|0.93km from city centerIt is one of the hotels that are very impressive, especially the quality of the bedding and the cleanliness of the hotel. Guarantee that the pillows are very soft, sleeps very comfortable, the location is convenient because it is located in the center of the city, traveling to the Mekong River, takes only 3-5 minutes, near the night market, the Ma Rich Market, near Robinson, near Makro, near Big Z. The quality of the service here is considered 5 stars.

|1.27km from city centerWe have been sleeping there in the night from 27 to 28 January 2020. It is a great hotel that has had its glory hours in the past without doubt. We have nevertheless loved our short stay. We paid a little less than 1000 baht for our 9002 room with a balcony and a beautiful view of the mountain. The hotel was very comfortable and the hotel was very comfortable. It is a hotel that needs renovation works in a great deal, it will be over to history in a few decades. A rustic luxury that made our business in our case. We have been sleeping well in addition. Photos will follow a given moment. Opinion drawn up on 31 January 2020 in Nakhon Phanom, Thailand.

|2.72km from city centerFirstly, the location right on the Mekong is superb - we had a 3rd (top) floor views over the river and for the sunrise. They provide good condition free bikes for use on the very good cycle way which runs both way along the river. The included breakfast was quite good with choice of two simple Thai dishes and eggs and sausages for Westerners if they wish. It's not a super buffet but more than adequate, The staff service was great, everyone was helpful but especially the receptionist. I liked the bath and bathroom in general and the room was quite spacious and well designed. The wi-fi never failed. Air-con was excellent. We loved the lobby area with inside and outdoor options and the large grounds with photo opportunities. It makes it all so relaxing The hotel has an efficient elevator and beautiful wooden staircase. As a bonus it's only 200 metres to Savan Sumran restaurant which we went to 3 times. They have free coffee until noon but there is a serious coffee shop and small shop A swimming pool would make it perfect but it might also make it noisy.

|1.66km from city centerThe hotel itself is very nice and probably the best you can get in Mukdahan - at least as my research showed. The location is awesome: the hotel is directly at the Mekong River, and you have a fantastic view over Laos. Our room had one big window to the river, which was terrific, especially during the morning when the sun rises, and you have some magic when the sun wakes you up, and you have that undisturbed view. Although the hotel appears a bit aged, the room was very nice and clean. I always pay special attention to the bed and the bathroom, and both were without any reason for complaints. The mattress was a bit firm for my taste, but I think that is highly subjective. I had to wait several minutes (!) for hot water in the shower, and the temperature was not stable - so I had to adjust the temperature several times. But apart from that, everything was fine. Breakfast was absolutely ok for the size of the hotel. There was a mix of western and local items - nothing special, but I had my eggs, toast, coffee, and jam, which were perfectly fine for me. As everywhere in Thailand, you also get excellent fresh fruits (watermelon, pineapple, some orange melon - I forgot the name). No cold cut or cheese, which I did not miss, but who expects a fully served continental breakfast should be aware. Now to some quirks: this is the first hotel ever in my travel life that asked for a deposit for the room key cards (in cash). And they gave us just one card for the room, which does mean you cannot run the AC when leaving the room - not the best idea in the humid summer weather. When my wife asked for a second key card, reception denied referring to a limited number of overall key cards available, which was strange. However, when I asked the following day again, I got a second one without problems and without asking for an additional deposit. Further, the restaurant's kitchen closed at 7 pm as everybody was tired from Thai New Year/Songkran - fascinating explanation. Fortunately, we had some street food before and were ok, but what do they do with hungry guests who just want to have dinner? Probably, they have to order food from outside, but 7 pm is still dinner time. But we just wanted to have a glass of wine - unfortunately, bottles only, so we ordered one. The service was more like a hostel, where you could help yourself in the kitchen: the wine was brought to the table, but we had to open the bottle and pour it ourselves. Whenever we wanted to have something (additional Glas, some water, etc.), we had to walk over to the guys who obviously enjoyed theirs after work time. But to be fair, the gentlemen were very nice and friendly and helped us with what we asked for. It was just not the typical bar or restaurant experience you would expect. However, we had nice two hours on the terrace enjoying the full moon and the view over Laos. Overall, I can only recommend this hotel if you stay in Mukdahan. The quirks are precisely that: an unexpected and a bit funny

|0.96km from city centerI stayed here because it is only about a 10 minute walk from the bus station and I arrived on a late night bus. Walk in rate was same as booking in advance and check in was very painless - just supplied my passport and signed a single piece of paper. The room was small and bare and the fit and finish was a bit rough around the edges. I did stay again a few days later and the second room was in better condition. The mattress was very different to any other hotel I have stayed in, in Thailand. It was soft to the touch, and then had a firmer under mattress. This made for a very comfortable bed. The pillows were well stuffed and gave me a good nights sleep. The hotel offered no food at all (except for crisps and pot noodles at reception) but did offer free 'Nescafe' machine coffee from 6AM. It was enough to get me started but I am not keen on this sort of coffee - but that is just personal taste. There is a 7/11 within about a 10 minute walk from the hotel if you want more substantial snacks or drinks. One room I had offered an electric water heater shower - which was fine. The other room had hot water plumbing that was super hot at night, so beware, and freezing cold in the morning. There is no wardrobe, just a few hangers, so leave your gear in you bag... As with many Thai hotels - there is a staircase that runs to the top of the building - with no doors - so in the even of a fire - the smoke would soon reach every floor... Luckily there is a nice lift for those who can't make it up the stairs.

|1.27km from city centerThere are some very good aspects of this place, location right in the middle of the Indo market and a short 600 meter walk to the night box market of eatieries etc. We paid extra for river view, but no table and chairs on the balcony was a miss. Nice views, great huge room, very clean and well presented. Staff at check in were lovely smiley and friendly. Breakfast was a miss, not much selection or taste, but nice layout and again river views from the tables.

|3.5km from city centerSituated along the highway, the outlook of Villa Thiwa Hotel looks nice and inviting but the room shows signs of wear and tear. The entire compound has 3 blocks: A, B & C which houses some long term tenants on block A while blocks B & C are for short term guests. This is a family-run hotel and checking in was simple which required a 100 THB deposit for the key card. The room shown in the picture looks new and bright but in actuality, it was half bright and looked somewhat tired. The bed lamps in the picture were absent and hence making the room half-bright or some may refer to as dark. Water pressure is good and hot water is constant for a freezing temperature of December. It is a non-smoking room but ashtray can be found on the balcony attached to the room. I am a non-smoker and fortunately, there isn't any cigarette smell in the room. Breakfast was simple with self-help coffee, toasts, meatball rice soup, and Vietnamese rice noodles just to keep your hunger away and not meant for a sumptuous meal. Overall, the price for a night stay is around 500 THB which somewhat makes it attractive even though it is out of nowhere and every choice of destination outside the hotel would require a taxi. I would recommend for a night stay if you are passing through provided you have transport.

|0.98km from city centerWe spent only one night at the hotel and got what we expected. Pretty large room, clean and quite comfortable with adequate bathroom. There is a kettle in the reception area for hot water - it comes handy for a morning coffee / tea. Overall, we were happy with our choice. Submukda Grand Hotel delivers good value for its relatively low price.
