|2.84km from city centerGOOD points- Welcomed and checked in by a friendly, informative and pleasant lady, who had a sunny disposition and was juggling numerous roles including serving in bar, cheking in/out (Reception) and cooking/serving to name a few, this lady was approachable, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. BAD points- where to start .. 1. Rooms where outdated (which would have been fine if clean), extremely poorly maintained and certainly not cleaned daily (if at all). Behind bathroom door was a collection of dirt, dust amd bit of rubbish, cleaner cleary has not closed this door or cleaned behind it for a while! Skirting boards where thick with dirt, sheets had holes amd walls had some kind of fluid ”sprayed” all over them (i dread to think what but can't discount it may be human material) im saddened to write this but feel its necessary to inform and alert others. A lick of paint, bottle of bleach and a hoover would have made such a difference at very little cost to hotel. 2. To access rooms you need to venture through an unused dining room (well not used to dine in) its used as a storage facility and is unsightly, after this you make your way along what i can only describe as the ”staff corridor” past the greasy kitchen (door was wide open) and other areas that i would imagine elsewhere would be out of public view to a steepish staircase which lead to the rooms. 3 Corridor leading to rooms was dark and dingy in day light but worse at night as none of the lights apart from the illuminated ”Fire Exit” sign so we relied on torches from our phones to navigate safely. I did not expect the Ritz for the prive we paid for a family of 3 but i do expect the basics to be right which is cleanliness, cleanliness and cleanliness!! Surely has no-one learned from Covid-19?!? Cleanliness should always be a priority even even more so during a pandemic.

|1.75km from city centerWOW what a lovely hotel. My husband, myself and our daughter stayed last night at this hotel, had an evening meal and breakfast this morning. The hotel is extremely tidy and very clean. We didn’t know what to expect at the evening meal but I can say this was amazing with all plates clean at the end and I would expect this level from a high end restaurant. The server was attentive and chatty. After a good nights sleep we had a lovely continental breakfast with hot options and this was as good as the meal last night. The servers were attentive, chatty and friendly too. We would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

|1.53km from city centerOur third stay in 12 months. We enjoy the location of this hotel, so handy for bars and restaurants; no taxis required! The breakfast is also amazing, loads of choice, food is hot and fresh, tables always clean and staff are well organised and friendly. The beds are really comfortable, and shower has always been good, and rooms/linen always clean. We like the ice bucket provided and machine in the hall, the complimentary water and having robes and slippers in the room. Two small points that weren't great were as follows. We've never yet had a working fridge in our room. Not sure whether this is a service no longer offered for some reason, if there's a way to switch it on/request it to be on or if we're just unlucky and always get one that doesn't work! Not a major problem, just would be nice to have, or take it away so we don't think it should be working. The other point is just the general decor, as in marked/damaged paintwork, tired fittings, and in this bathroom, damp affecting the grout and shower cubicle fittings plus a big crack in the sink. More wear and tear than cleanliness, and hopefully general freshen up/ refurb is on the cards soon. Still a great hotel in a great location, we'll be back!

|5.65km from city centerAt first glance, the room didn’t look too bad for a cheap hotel for a one night stay. At around 8:30 i went for a bath and upon getting out i noticed that on the towel there was a big brown mark which led me to check the rest of the room. when doing that i realised that there were marks on the bed. We weren’t too bothered about this but took it to reception and requested new towels which we were given and then offered a new room from the receptionist. We took the new room and we checked that one too and it was exactly the same in that one too. Brown STAINS on the bed and marks on the towels. Again, we took this down to reception as by this point it is 9pm and we just want to get settled. I showed the receptionist the photos that we had taken of the room that she agreed was ‘absolutely disgusting’ and then handed us a new room key. When getting into this room we checked it and in this room there was hairs all over the bed, a hole in the blanket, a huge white stain on the bed and when lifting the sheet back to see if it was any better, we realised it wasn’t. We then took it to reception yet again and just explained to the receptionist that we’d appreciate a room with a clean bed so we can get some rest. She then told us we need to collect our belongings and find elsewhere that ‘meets our standards’ when all we wanted was a clean bed. We were made to leave at 9:30pm and try find a different hotel for the night while being refused a refund onto a different card due to not having paying card on hand. Receptionist was incredibly rude during the 3rd encounter. Overall terrible experience and currently still do not have a refund after being offered it. Avoid at all costs

|4.77km from city centerThe location is good, close to the metrocentre, a large shopping mall, and there is a metro in 15 minutes. It is more convenient to drive by yourself, and the hotel parking lot has plenty of parking spaces. In addition, the hotel room is quite large. In terms of breakfast, there are too few food choices for the buffet breakfast!

|0.6km from city centerI use a wheelchair & my daughter is my carer. So had an accessible room on the ground floor. We also had our dog with us. I have to say that all the staff across the board from top to bottom are so amazing. They are kind, caring, helpful and make time to listen if you need them. The breakfast is always fresh, hot & tasty. The room is always spotlessly clean & the bed is so comfortable. I would recommend this particular hotel to anyone. You are made to feel welcome & respected by every member of staff. Will return in the future, no question about it. A huge thank you to each & every member of the team. You are all amazing. Thank you for make our stay so memorable & wonderful.

|1.94km from city centerFantastically located on the quayside. The hotel has parking spaces but these are limited and therefore I parked at the car park opposite Gateshead college, around 6 mins walk away. Tbh it was cheaper to park there than the hotel car park and not that far. The hotel itself is nicely presented and the adjoined bar on the ground floor also has outdoor seating so that you may enjoy the views. The views itself are very decent from the room I was in. The room was very clean apart from a few handprint stains on the wall above the toilet in the bathroom. They looked more like old stains which probably wouldn’t come out unless it was painted again. Can’t comment on breakfast as I didn’t have any, but the hotel provided a complimentary coffee voucher from the bar and also some money off food from their restaurant.
Overall a nice hotel and would stay again if ever in the area.

|3.03km from city centerOur experience of the Rowers hotel in Newcastle was extremely poor. The dirt of the entrance hall which immediately sets the tone. In fairness most people in our group had a worse room experience than we had. 1. The skirting was falling off in the ensuite. 2. The shower was a telephone-like set up in a very deep bath, with no non-slip mat. 3. There wasn't enough crockery and cutlery for the number of guests. 4. The locking device on the door of our room didn't work, we had to put a suitcase against the door to deter someone fromcoming into the room at night. 5. The conservatory where we were to eat was dirty and overgrown with foliage. 6. The patio was overgrown with ****s. 7. The hotel is in an industrial estate. In fairness there seemed to be plenty of hot water in the morning. But a double room had two single beds. What I'd call a twin room. I would say that you shouldn't stay in this hotel.
