This was a solo dive trip and my first trip to Palau. I picked Palau Royal Resort from a selection of suggested properties, which the dive shop offered in a package. Trip Advisor reviews helped in making this decision. Area: The hotel is an approximately a 30-minute drive from the airport and located on Malakal Island on Koror. Malakal Island area contains other hotels and several restaurants/bars. The main shopping area is located in downtown Koror, approximately a 40 minute walk or 7 minute car ride. There is a small grocery store located right across the street from PRR for anything you might have a taste for. Room: The room held a flat screened TV, a small refrigerator, a table and two chairs and a king-sized bed (typical hotel room). A small balcony contained a table and two chairs and a drying rack, perfect for allowing wet clothing to dry out. The room faced northwest, which overlooked the pool and had a marina view. Not once during my stay did I hear any noise from adjoining rooms or have any problems. Hotel: I would rate the appearance as a 4-star hotel. The hotel is up-kept well, with the grounds being immaculately maintained. Bell service was immediate with no waiting to assist you with you baggage or any questions/issues you might have. Front reception staff was very polite and always greeted you with a smile and a formal greeting. A hotel shuttle pass can be purchased from the front desk for transportation back and forth into town (see PRR website for details). Parking: Parking is provided in a front lot on the hotel property. I did not utilize a vehicle on this trip so I cannot say if there was any cost to use it. Pool: The pool was large with plenty of seats/loungers around it. At the time of my visit, numerous families with kids were enjoying it. Beach: The private hotel beach is approximately 150 yards long and in a protected lagoon. There are covered beach chairs and tables along the entire beach. I witnessed menus lying on the tables, so I would imagine, food and bar service is available. Restaurant: A full service restaurant, which included both indoor and an outdoor patio. The menu had a wide selection of both Asian and Western meals, along with a daily buffet. A small convenience store is located near the pool for basic necessities (beer, snacks, gifts) and stayed open until almost midnight. Bar: There is one main bar, next to the marina and another in the restaurant. Typical resort prices for drinks. At the time of my visit, not much going on. Dock: The hotel has it's own private dock and a dive shop on premises. In the mornings, dive boats were always coming and going. Other dive operators utilize this dock to pick up customers, as in my case. Overall: This is would be an good hotel for a family (beach/pool/mini golf) or just someone looking to get away. It is quiet, clean and in a safe location with amenities all around. The only downside, in my opinion, is the location a

If you just want a place to lay your head before or after a liveaboard vacation in Palau, then this is not a bad choice. You can guess that at the price, it is not going to have all the amenities of the more expensive hotels. The awkward part of staying here after a liveaboard is what to do between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM which is check in time. I went down to a local part, Long Island Park, and hung out for a very long time. A couple of things to know before you go. It is a shared bathroom. Not a problem for me. The bed, very small, was quite hard. Only one overhead light which is hard to read by. The pool was not operational while I was there. it is designed on the Japanese hostel formula and hence most of the guests are from Japan and young. Bottom line is if you want to save a lot of money and just need a place to put your head, this would work for you.

Great place to stay for the Aggressor live-aboard as the pick-up jetty is at the back of the hotel; the receptionists could not have been more helpful! They arranged for me to be collected at the airport at 2:30 AM and only charged $10 for the transport. After the live-a-board trip they checked me and 3 others in very early after the Aggressor tender drop off at 8:00 AM; what you are supposed to do from 8:00 am to Noon only God knows, fortunately the hotel checked every one in within 45 minutes of our arrival. Obviously if the hotel was full then they wouldn't be able to do that so what you would do for 4 hours I don’t know. On departure day I checked out at 12:00 noon, however, I could have stayed in the room until 1:00 PM. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world and the receptionists and staff were superb. Thank you for all your help and caring nature.

The DW is cheap by Koror standards. It is a great place to base yourself for diving. I liked it a lot, it has that laid back feel more in the style of South East Asia. We stayed in 4 different hotels in Koror and this was my favourite. It does what it says on the tin. Great facilities, clean and cheap. I have seen reviews that complain about the noise but this hotel was not as noisy as other more expensive hotels we stayed in. Flight times to Koror are bad so pretty much all the hotels have guests leaving in the early hours of the morning, many Asian guests lack the sensitivity of Europeans when it comes to sleeping. So be prepared to have some tolerance for cultural differences or travel with earplugs like me. 😀

I stayed at Lehns for one week in January 2020. The place is budgeted for the cost conscious traveler, which is great as I took opportunity of my time in Palau to Scuba and tour the islands. My room was clean, had hot water, good water pressure, functional refrigerator, and even an operating flat screen television with several international channels. The common area is a great place to relax and wind down at the end of the day. The icing on the cake is the manager and most of the staff. I fell ill after one of my dives and needed to go to the hospital and Natalie drove me to the hospital when no taxis were responding to our calls. Mind you this was almost at midnight. I felt sincere concern from her regarding my condition and that type of caring hospitality cannot be faked or easily reproduced. Vicky, Lulu, and Bianca were some staff members who went out of their way in making my stay an unforgettable one. I highly recommend Lehns to anyone searching for a comfortable, safe stay in Palau.

Do NOT book here.... they are crooks!!! The short story, is I made a reservation and prepaid over $600, wasn't able to go, and they refused to refund ANY of my prepayment. No, they did not just keep the customary first night, they refused to refund me anything. They are clearly not interested in customer service or a good reputation of a desired place to stay. That speaks volumes, so DO NOT BOOK HERE!!! The long story: I have never made a reservation in such a fancy place, but I thought I would splurge on myself this time. It turns out that when I got to the airport in Micronesia, I was unable to get a boarding pass. My passport was expiring in 4 months. I immediately called the hotel, and the woman at the front desk said that it was no problem and that I could get a refund. When I asked her to verify, she said that since I booked through Expedia, I would need to contact them, but it should be no problem. I called Expedia and the woman I spoke to there said she just needed to contact the hotel, because they are the ones who need to give permission for the refund. I was on an island with poor internet connection, so she said that she would contact me after she got clearance. When I got back to the states, I contacted them and she said she was never able to get through. Expedia attempted again, and they said after numerous attempts they finally got in touch with the parent company in Japan, and that they denied giving me a refund. I am livid. As hotel owners, they are the ones who approve or deny a refund. I did not stay at the hotel nor I did not use any of their services. Since they knew I was not going to be arriving PRIOR to my anticipated arrival, they could have booked the room. And I got ZERO refund. I would understand if they kept 1 night and refunded me the rest, but once the money was in their pocket, they were not about to refund me. And, I was helpless to do anything about it. I was hesitant to book with them initially because I got the sense that they were going to charge for every little thing. They charge you $20 for airport transport each way...what hotel does that? Also, the hotel is isolated on the island, so you need transport to get into town, to get to dive shops, etc, again... more hidden charges. My gut warned me that this hotel was not concerned with customer service and that they were just interested in lining their pockets. There are plenty of lovely other places on Palau where you can stay, where the proprietors care about their clients, potential clients, providing excellent service, their reputation, and about treating other individuals as they wish to be treated. I highly recommend that you find ANY other hotel or resort, and stay there.

My wife and I spent 11 nights here while on a diving vacation to Palau. Oya-san runs an incredibly welcoming hotel. His entire staff was wonderfully courteous and helpful. The rooms themselves, while not particularly fancy, are immaculately clean and delightfully large...at 525 square feet, the Deluxe Room was truly huge. The location is perfectly placed in downtown Koror, as it's just a block from two major supermarkets, a great massage spa, and a number of restaurants. Keep in mind, this is not a beach hotel (and Palau isn't really a 'beach' getaway.) If you want epic beaches, pick another island. But if you're looking for an incredible level of service in a small, caring family-run hotel, you won't find better than the Garden Palace Koror. Oh, and the $5-per-basket laundry is amazing! Most hotels charge $5 for one T-shirt. The Garden Palace charges $5 for an entire bucket. We'll be back in 2019 for sure.

We stayed here for 8 nights and had a wonderful stay. The staff is over the top kind and will go out of their way to make sure your stay is everything you want it to be in Palau. Joy, Leah, Kamile, and Mariele are gracious hosts and welcome you with a smile everyday. They helped facilitate a half day tour when we were in a pinch and have great recommendations for food, tours, car rentals, or whatever else you fancy. The rooms are perfectly adequate for a long stay and we never felt cramped when we just wanted to relax in the room. The breakfast will appease every palette and dietary restriction with a bottomless pit of coffee that you’ll need after a 5 day bender on nitrox. We’ll stay again, when in Palau! For the past 7 months I’ve been lucky to be able to stay at Central Hotel. Since the first day the staff has been very welcoming, proactive and helpful to make my stay as smooth as it’s been. What can you say when you live above Palau’s nightlife hotspot while still enjoy the total quietness of the rooms. It is just the most convenient place for all kinds of travelers, from solo looking to make memorable moments to families who seek for tranquility and calmness which is very much found on the pool area overlooking the beauty of niko bay. Regarding breakfast.... maybe the best in Micronesia. Fresh fruits, warm pastries, included a la carte eggs, omelets, waffles and all you can think about. Defenetly the best breakfast in Palau, open since the early hours of the morning for those who start their day early. Once the day is over, nothing beats the feeling of getting back to the room and enjoying the spectacular views of niko bay Either from the spacious balconies or even from bed. Palau Central offers one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen, overseeing the whole bay go to sleep. And not only, every morning during sunrise you can witness big flocksy of birds hunting for sardines that get pushed to the surface by underwater predators. It’s really a show that you don’t want to miss, all with the confort and cleanliness of the room, which has complementary coffee and snacks. The rooms are big, clean and well organized. My room had a big flat screen tv with many pay per view channels included. The Bed is very wide with very Nice sheets and conforters and many pillows. The bathroom is also very Nice. There Was a big bathtub and a shower with a massive shower head. I would really recomend palau central hotel to any traveler that comes into palau! Its very clean, confortable and convenient and it has the best staff of any hotel in palau!

The second time I went to Palau, I had to go home than the first time. I have seen that the children’s shoes of Raiders have made Palau’s consumption quite high. If there are few people, it is not good to order and it is really expensive. The simple meal provided by the Holiday Inn last year was 35 knives. This time, six colleagues lived together in a suite, with a kitchen and living room. I thought it would be thin to go diving. As a result, several pigs were fat at the end of the trip! 1. Hotel environment. The hotel is less than 20 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes from the city centre. To go out to eat, the supermarket owner will arrange a transfer. The hotel is full of big bangs, my days, diving in other places to see are small, this hotel is even a wash basin! Local experience. 2. Hotel hygiene. Every day, there are Filipino maids cleaning up. The girl in the room next door checked out. I saw that the cleaning of the sofa and the bed would be removed. After we finished the meal, the Filipino maid will come in and clean up. Palau has a custom of tipping, and everyone goes with the Romans. 3. Hotel services. Feel at home, much better than the Holiday Inn! We arrived at the hotel around 4am, and everyone, including the boss, was waiting for us. When we left, everyone in the early morning came up and sent us. Have a warm breakfast every day, stay for 9 days and not repeat! 4. Entertainment. We went to dive and booked a dive shop. Starting next month, I will start looking directly at the boss. In addition to the sea, sea fishing, aircraft aerial photography, self-driving tour can find a boss to help. When we are resting, the boss will take us out to sea fishing in the evening to see the sunset. Oh, the fish caught are eaten by our hot pot and boiled fish. The instant noodles that I brought with me at the end of the day are back! 5. Does the boss look like a deer? handsome! When driving with us to take a ride, just want to ask the boss to have a son? Missing women? Hahahahahaha.... highly recommended!
