Stayed here for two nights while attending an event in the area. We arrived right at check in. Despite being Best Western Diamond Select members, the receptionist did not mention or recognize this. We were also not given the free gift that is usually give to members at check in. We were told that we had been upgrade to a “deluxe room”. When we arrived at the room, it was fine. However, I am not sure what made it “deluxe” as it appeared to be a standard room. The bed was comfortable and the room was of decent size. There was some sort of issue with the door to the room as we had to close it hard in order to get it lock properly. At least the room was clean as was the bathroom even though it was a bit small. We arrived back at the hotel on our first night (a Friday) to find no parking available. After inquiring at reception, I was told to find the night security guard for assistance. He directed us to park in the fire lane in front of the hotel. I did that (no other choice) but only after receiving assurances from security and the front desk that my car would not be towed. After all, I was illegally parked. Since there is no daily housekeeping due to COVID, room requests are made directly to the front desk who then asks housekeeping to send up what is needed. I did that after our first night and the request for fresh towels and toiletries was filled quickly. There were renovation in progress to the pool and the breakfast area which left a strong scent of paint in those areas. As a result, we passed on breakfast there and just took coffee to go. Thankfully, the smell was noticeable on our floor. The location of the hotel is good. It is right off Route 95 and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. Our room faced 95 and, unfortunately, we heard plenty of noise from there even very late at night which made sleeping soundly difficult. So, try to get a room facing the other side of the hotel. No option for express checkout was given to us so I can only assume it is not offered here. I find this a handy option when traveling but it didn’t work here. We are in the area every April for an event that we always attend. Since we have Diamond Select membership, it makes sense for us to choose Best Western hotels but I think next year, we will go elsewhere. We have stayed here previously and had much better stays than this one. I found the hotel to now be average and I am sure we can find better accommodations for the same money and also closer to the even venue.

Needing a night's stay on a trip back to Maine, I stayed at the West Haven Hampton Inn which is very conveniently located off Route 95. The Inn shares its parking lot with Texas Roadhouse - which offers indoor service and take out - making it a convenient place to obtain dinner after being on the road all day. The rooms were very clean and well appropriated, and the complimentary breakfast provided ample service, choices, and food for the morning. The only complaint would be the noise in the early evening from the parking lot. I was on the side of the restaurant on the ground floor. The restaurant did a great business and many vehicles and voices could be heard in the evening. Overnight this noise was not noticeable but on a Saturday evening, it was a bit noisy. The heater/fan was able to provide enough white noise that this distraction was not a true problem; I also suspect that a room in a different part of the Inn would not have had this issue. Overall, it was a very nice stopping point on my trip north.

I have stayed at three hotels in New Haven. I feel that this is the best value for money hotel in New Haven. After staying for three weeks, the hotel has a free shuttle shuttle to Yale every day, 8-10 minutes away. Free wifi, free parking, American breakfast, and free dinner from Monday to Wednesday. All the kitchen utensils in the kitchen are complete and can be cooked by yourself. The hotel staff are very nice, breakfast can also be taken in their own room, laundry, small gym are complete. Walking to the beach is also very close

I am currently staying at this hotel. First I will start off with a positive. The lobby is very nice and tons of space. The 2 queen bedroom suite offers a ton of room too. However, I will not be staying here again. My daughter and I are staying here because she has a 3 day swim meet close by. We checked in yesterday. Last night, she was about to take a shower and we noticed someone else's underwear hanging from the shower curtain!! Immediately we called the front desk. He had someone come up and said they would clean the bathroom. He did apologize. A worker did come up and took a pic of the underwear to show his manager. I didn't watch him, just assumed he cleaned the bathroom. After dinner, I went back into the bathroom to start the shower only to find hair all over the bathtub that was not ours. So it clearly had not been cleaned. I called back down to the front desk. This time he seemed annoyed (I did not get his name). He said he would send someone back up. When I said this was unacceptable and clearly the bathroom had not been cleaned, he said I don't have any other rooms for you. Nothing else was said to try and make it right. Another worker came back up and cleaned the hair. We are Diamond members. I am very disappointed in the customer service. I would have thought someone would have followed up today to make sure we are okay with the room. I would have switched hotels but it was 8:30pm and my daughter needed to get to bed since she had another swim meet the next morning.

Stayed for two nights for a teen sports event. The hotel was nice and there's a small bar in the lobby. It was closed due to COVID. There's also a large gathering area in the lobby. The rooms must have been recently renovated because they were very nice and clean. The decor is pleasant and the TV is a newer design with more than enough channel selections. The bathroom was uodatedwith a huge beautiful shower and it was sparkling clean. I didn't go in the pool but did sit in a lounge chair and the area was clean and well kept. I suggest you visit Chips for breakfast. FABULOUS, fast, pleasant service. I highly recommend staying here and would stay here again.

This hotel is actually very small and the location is close to the train station. There is a free shuttle service within 5 kilometers, so friends who take the train and go to Yale University can call the front desk to book the shuttle service and tip the driver. Older hotel, single staff is better. Breakfast at American hotels can't be compared with domestic ones, so don't expect too much, eat a maximum of fruit, and the rest are too simple and too thick.

The Blake is the best place to stay in New Haven. Great location, beautiful lobby, spacious modern rooms with comfortable beds, and stylish bathrooms. Microwave, cooktop, sink, and dishwasher in the rooms. Outstanding workout facility on the lower level. Complimentary Coffee service delivered to your room. The restaurant, Hamilton Park, offers a good variety of delicious dishes.

I rented two rooms for our family, booked direct, paid full price as a Select member. Negatives: We were given the two rooms right off the elevator on the 14th floor overlooking a parking garage. This building is old. Thin walls, thin glass, lots of noise from the elevator and all the doors slamming closed. The sounds of the city are truly overwhelming, even from the 14th, especially from 1:30am to 3am when the kids pour out of the clubs. Beds were actually kinda firm and top sheet was kinda scratchy feeling. Online account review/checkout on tv was unavailable. Only slightly annoying but I don't know why hotels can't get their together and have those systems work correctly. Positives: It's a beautiful, old, classy hotel in a great location. Parking was reasonable and easy. Check-in/Check-out was quick. The bar/restaurant on the 19th floor was elegant with a beautiful view. We had a fun night and it was a nice location but it's not a restful night's sleep on a weekend. I couldn't do more than a night here. I would swing by just to have a drink up on 19 though. That was cool.
