The hotel is in a great position in Vienna. There is a vast rebuilding of what must have been (and will eventually be again I assume) the square in front which makes access by car a little tricky. However, we were not bothered by any noise at all. The staff are extremely friendly, and the ground floor bar is quite delightful. They sell bar snacks too. Friendly service and a nice way to unwind after a day out. Room was fine. I have read some other reports about the room being 'tatty' (ours wasn't) and small (ever been to a London hotel!!) It was fine for a week with adequate storage/safe/tea maker etc. The bathroom was a little small. Europeans tend to have these short baths, and this was a short bath with a shower over it which was a bit awkward to get into, hence the 4 stars rather than 5. Would have much preferred a shower cubicle. But the water was hot and plentiful. The breakfast buffet was fine with hot and cold food. We loved it, and are already planning to return!SOLD OUT

Pension Neuer Markt Slip up Seilergasse from the Pension Neuer Markt about half a block, past the wurst stand and there you are in the shadow of the Stephansdom, Vienna’s premier cathedral dedicated to the martyr St Stephen. Neur Markt’s location in the inner city of Vienna cries convenience which is the biggest asset of this modest pension. In a huge older building, the Pension occupies three floors of six. To enter one must press a buzzer on the outside door and the main desk on second floor will buzz you into the dark lobby where there is thankfully a lift. Inside the Pension is under renovation however our third floor spacious room has been completed. Our bathroom is large, clean and contains a huge tub and shower. Lofty windows on the outer wall overlook Seilergasse and provide lots of light. A comfy double bed is on one wall and matching couch on the other. A huge closet hugs next to bed. At breakfast in a lovely parlor we are pleased to see the great selection of bread, cold cuts, cheese, and fresh fruit. Of course, hard boiled eggs are by request and tea or coffee. Around the corner is Kartner Strasse the main shopping district of Vienna complete with a large restaurant population. If you are hungry after hours the Pension has a supermarket inside and you get a discount.FromUS$103.00

Most of the reviews comment on the wonderful location of this hotel; having recently spent three nights, I can confirm that it is indeed ideally situated. The nearby market area is being renovated to build an underground parking area, but it is not really a bother. Located near most of the major sights in Vienna, it is also near some interesting restaurants and cafes. We had breakfast at an organic bakery located just around the corner, and it was excellent. The entrance to the hotel may surprise some, as it is located on the top two floors of what appeared to be a medical office building, but the friendly staff and good accomodation will satisfy all your needs and expectationsFromUS$97.00

Nice enough but our room was small with no view. Central location was good and service was good. Was close to pedestrian mall and St Stephens Cathedral. Booked this hotel early on in the year for a 4 night Christmas Market break. Arrived earlier than expected but we were able to book into room which was great. Friendly reception staff and we were taken to our room (17) on 1st floor via a Quirky little lift which we loved! Arrived at the room, which as did all the rooms in hotel, had a double door on entry... Again a quirky feature!! However on entering the room the look of disappointment on my face told my hubby that I was not impressed... He wasn't wrong and after an in depth discussion went down to reception to ask if a better room could be provided. It was more like a hostel type room with en suite facilities, small in need of decoration and a very dated bathroom. The huge water stain on the ceiling directly over the bed was the deciding factor to ask for a different room along with the view from window of a rooftop scattered with cigarette butt's! However another room was allocated on the 3rd floor which was more acceptable, although still small but bathroom was very modern. Only problem was the shower which had the dual shower heads which didn't really work properly at all! We chose not to eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food. Visited Cafe Motzart twice situated just behind the hotel for fabulous food and service. All in all an enjoyable few days in Vienna but would not stay here again in this particular hotel.SOLD OUT

They say when you are in Vienna, try if you can to stay away from conventional hotels. So, I picked this boutique hotel for its central location which is just next to the world famous St Stephen's Cathedral. I arrived from Budapest to Vienna. And, I stepped into a hotel which took me to a scene out of Downtown Abbey. The dining room, the reading room, my hotel room is truly amazing. There is no view from the hotel room. But, that is okay. Because, the interior was stunning - classic and royal. The property as I was told is 700 years old so it has some history attached to its name, you can ask the reception. Some famous artistes has stayed here before too. But once you step out of the hotel, everything is just within walking distance. it's central location to shopping, dining and transportation hub is perfect and now, I can understand why this hotel is always fully booked. You can spend a hotel day by foot shopping and eating, return to the hotel to rest, and go out again to explore. The hop on hop off by BigBus is a perfect choice to see this wonderful city day and night. i tried all the three lines that took to me to all the interesting sites and it is just cheap and practical way to travel. My hotel made the bookings for this travel experience and the stop is just 5mins walking distance from this hotel. The reception is managed by a team of very helpful gentlemen. They are ever ready to give the best advise to explore the city. They will even help you book theatre tickets, transportation, and everything you need for a perfect holiday. Just go to the reception. Breakfast is simple but truly delicious. Choose this hotel if you want a perfect location, friendly service, greeted by kind staff who will look after you well. The hotel is simple and pretty straightforward. So there is no hidden or extra cost for their wonderful service. I had a perfect and wonderful holiday beyond my expectation. We have visited the Sacher before to sample their chocolate and their coffee, and my wife and I said that next time we are in Vienna, we will stay at the Sacher. Well, we were not disappointed. The hotel is pure luxury in every possible way. As soon as you approach the hotel, are greeted outside and have your suitcases taken away, you know you are in for a treat. Check-in was a breeze, and we were shown around the hotel, then up to our very big room. We were lucky to have a view of the Opera House, through the big windows. The room was huge, with a bathroom with separate toilet/shower, which were of a good size, lots of marble and mirrors everywhere, with the chocolate soaps and creams proudly on display! The bed is one of the most comfortable hotel beds we have ever slept in. You lay down and you are enveloped in pure luxury! The room was spotlessly clean and no attention to detail was spared. The hotel is beautiful, lots of different places to chill or eat or drink, but the highlight for us was the staff. Every person we passed would either stop to open doors or wave a hello, or asked how we were getting on. Very, very attentive in every way. We had dinner at the Rote bar, which is a very intimate dining experience, and the food was delicious. There is a spa upstairs too, with various steam rooms and chill areas, again, beautifully maintained. Breakfast is just exquisite. There is no other word for it! There is a huge choice of cold cuts, cheeses, pastries, breads,fruit, drinks and even cakes. There is of course, a hot bar, so you can order a cooked breakfast while you are enjoying your fresh pastries and coffee. The only regret we had, we were booked on an early flight out the next morning, and we don't feel we had enough time to fully enjoy the hotel, but next time we will plan better. The Hotel Royal has excellent location. Just on the Stephanplatz. No need to ride anywhere. Everything is here: museums, shops, restaurants, cafeterias, and of course The Vienna Opera. In case you need a ride - the underground is few meters away. The hotel rooms are quite big, enough for up to 4 persons. Room has all you need, including TV, radio, bathtub and coffee and tea facilities. The hotel staff is very friendly and willing to help in case you need. Several times I asked questions and received a full and comprehensive explanation in positive, polite and friendly manner. The breakfast is very good. From cornflakes to eggs and sausages, fruits, different kinds of bread etc. The Hotel Royal in very recommended.FromUS$100.00

This was my fourth time staying at the DO&CO in Vienna. Before I have had a normal room but this time I chose a suite which, while expensive, was worth every single euro. The view from the vast balcony and through the very wide glazed doors was astounding. I had the full spread of the magnificent Stefansdom (St Stefan’s Cathedral) including the whole area of many visitors milling in and out of the church and all around the Christmas market below. Part of the living room had a projecting glass window with cushioned seating from which to observe the world. There was a very large and fully stocked bar containing wines and spirits as well as two drinks fridges full of beers, soft drinks and champagne plus a coffee system. Sweetmeats were displayed in martini glasses, ample fresh fruit on the coffee table and further baked temptations arrived daily. The separate bedroom with multiple efficient bedside switches not only for lighting but also for electronic window blinds and curtains was beyond a wardrobe area. The bathroom contained a large shower enclosure, a spa bath, two wash basins and, of course a loo. There were plenty of fluffy towels and an in-house range of bathing accessories. Every single corner of the entire suite was utterly spotless and was daily fully attended forgetting nothing. The two meals I had (apart from daily breakfast) were superbly prepared and presented. The menu has a modest selection of Austrian dishes and quite a range of sushi. All members of staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. For those that like buzzing bars the DO&CO is hard to beat in the evenings. It is very lively and extremely popular. That said, none of the jollity from that part of the hotel reached my room which was well shielded from the sounds of those having fun.FromUS$387.00

We have just returned from a 5 day break in Vienna. We stayed at Pension Nossek which is located in a historic building in the very centre of the inner city with most attractions in walking distance and just a few minutes walk from St Stephans Cathedral. The area is pedestrianised and Pension Nossek is surrounded by great shops, restaurants and bars, at night the area is very quiet and clean. Rooms and facilities including air conditioning, en-suites and continental breakfasts at Nossek are very good. Mozart lived in the build for a short time. Vienna is a beautiful city and Pension Nossek a great and convenient place to stay. We will certainly go back to explore more of Vienna and enjoy the hospitality of Pension Nossek.SOLD OUT

Although we had reservations at the Arthotel ANA Amadeus, they were overbooked and moved us to Schosshotel Romischer Kaiser, a sister hotel. We didn’t see any indication of AC and opened the windows which let a lot of noise into the room. The bed was very comfortable and firm. Each of us had a big pillow and a small pillow which worked well. Robes and slippers were provided and we had a ceramic pot to boil water in the room. The bathroom had a slight step up where we stubbed our toe until we remembered to step up. The room was clean but did seem a little tired. However, that is the style of the room and the hotel. The walls are wood, which is part of the charm of an older building. The bathroom was pink with matching pink towels. It was comfortable and the location works. I stayed for one week and couldn’t have been happier with my choice of hotel. It’s perfectly placed in the centre of the Innere Stadt. The room was spotless and cleaned perfectly every day - especially the bathroom. There was no sound from other rooms, despite it being very busy for the Xmas period. The toiletries were of better quality than most hotels in that range. Breakfast was lovely for me and the kitchen staff were very kind. The whole hotel was lovely and warm, even the stairs. Check out and check in was rapid and efficient and the staff were always helpful. I will definitely book a holiday there again.FromUS$97.00

Good hotel in common.
Good breakfast, nice responsive staff, though a little unskillful (can't print a document out so that the image takes the whole list, not just a tiny space in the corner which is impossible to see and read), sauna, great design. The only issue is windows, which lack quality. They let cold and noise, cigarette smell go through into rooms from outside.
However in common we're happy with the stay.

1. The location of the hotel is very convenient, just 5 minutes walk from the central railway station, the surrounding environment is very quiet, almost no tramp or refugees, very safe! It is very convenient to eat and shop at the station. It is very cheap to recommend a supermarket. 2. The room facilities are very new, the room photos are much better than some of the four stars in the country, and the decoration is also very elegant. Staying at this price is very cost-effective! 3. The front desk service is also very patient, and there are train schedules to facilitate everyone to hurry. There are also free fruit breads to eat. 4. The TV and air conditioning in the room are very new, the TV is extraordinarily large, and the channels are very good! The toilet and bathroom are separate and very convenient, which is rare in hotels at this price in Europe. 5. The hotel can swipe the card up and down the elevator, very safe! 6. If you go to Vienna, it is highly recommended that everyone stay at this hotel! Absolutely the most cost-effective.

The room is really great, the view is great, the breakfast is also great, the view on the top floor is invincible, I also watched a sunrise, and I drank a glass of wine at night. There is a subway station opposite, one stop to Stephen's Cathedral, but two people should take a taxi, cheap and good cars. Rating 4.5, the pre-authorization deposit has not been released for half a month.

This hotel is pretty and the room is laid out well. But there were some maintenance issues that never got fixed. First, my safe in room 729. I couldn’t get reception to answer, (irritating) so I went there. The woman at reception said that someone could come assist, but maintenance wouldn’t be in until the next morning. She said that Vienna was a very safe city and there was no need for worry because there was never any crime of any kind. Also, they had a way of knowing who would go in the room. Inwardly, I rolled my eyes. If they know who goes in the room, if something was stolen, it’s my word against that person’s that this item was even in there. Besides that, the item would still be gone. Then when my boyfriend and I were arranging for a taxi, the bellhop informed us that taxi drivers in Vienna are notorious for ripping off tourists. No crime of any kind, ehh? I couldn’t get the faucets (in either sinks) to stop up and I needed to hand wash some items and soak something. Someone came up to show me, but he said after looking they weren’t designed to close. The next morning, after we returned from breakfast, the lock that you use to bolt the door had fallen and was preventing the door from being opened all the way. We asked housekeeping to help, but she couldn’t and called for someone to come up. Thirty mins later, no one had come, so back I went to the lobby and got the bellhop to call. He said there was no request in, so housekeeping hadn’t called. About five mins later, mtc came and unscrewed the bolt, allowing us to enter. While he was there, he tried to fix the safe, but even fresh batteries didn’t fix it. No one ever came to fix it. While the hotel is beautiful, there’s nowhere nearby to eat, no shopping, etc. (except a Starbucks and one bakery). The breakfast buffet is pretty weak for 25euros. We ordered off the menu and it took about 25 mins to get items that weren’t even cooked (cheese, ham, etc). (Meaning there would be no reason for the long delay.) My espresso was cold when I got it. I really want to end this on a good note, so let me say that the staff was really nice and the room was spotless. It was also quiet.

Grand Hotel Wien is one of the nicest hotels in VIenna. It has old world charm, beautiful decor and impeccable service. Its location is excellent and within walking distance of all the major attractions ofthe city. The Opera, Museums and shopping streets are closeby. There is no dirth of restaurants and cafes around the hotel and there is a large grocery store literally adjacent. I visited in late November and was fortunate to visit the colorful Christmas markets which are just a few streets away. I was also able to go to a Mozart Recital and an Opera performance through the very efficient services of the hotel conceige. I would strongly recommend this hotel as one of the loveliest hotels in Vienna

My husband son and I stayed at this hotel when first arriving into Vienna. The hotel itself is beautiful, lovely service and room was fantastic. We had a deluxe double room which was spacious and also came with tea coffee making. We had an extra bed for our son. Room was a big size for the three of us. Bathroom was really nice too all the amenities you need. We did not get breakfast while staying here it was expensive - instead choosing to have breakfast at cafe central which is a minute walk from hotel and reasonably priced ( cheaper than the hotel buffet breakfast at hotel ). We are generally not buffet style eaters preferring cereal or toast, eggs and coffee or juice so cafe central was perfect for us and an easy one min walk in the morning (not crowded at all on opening!). We also walked to another cafe one day which was great as well for a coffee and bread roll & egg/museli etc for 1/4 price. Hotel is in a great location in Vienna, the street was all lit up for Christmas too and Xmas markets within walking distance in all directions only a few minutes walk some smaller markets. The big Christmas market at the Rathaus was about a 10 min walk (a must with kids/teens) There is a great Italian restaurant a minute walk from hotel with some great dinner options as well. Cafes and restaurants are all within walking distance. Walk to St Stephens cathedral was maybe 5-10 mins. Also walking distance Hofburg palace was 2 mins from hotel. Overall great location lovely hotel. A star off for no heated pool though otherwise amazing hotel good location and would definitely stay again when in Vienna.
