We had two nights in the Hotel An der Altstadt on 16th and 17th October 2019. Two old soldiers shared a twin room and although the room was quite small it was adequate and very comfortable and very clean. The bathroom was pristine and the towels were soft. The breakfast was second to none. The staff were very polite and helpful, special thanks to Tanja, she was a star!

This mercure is located just outside the inner city making it easy to access by car. There is a free car park just in front but it fits about 12 cars only. There is a paying car park just round the corner that comes to 9,50 per day. Walking to the inner city takes about 5 mins so the location is great, as said. The hotel itself is old. We had an upgraded room, and though it was large, it was delapidated really. Especially the bath room felt worn down. There was a coffee maker with pads in the room and next to it a piece of paper and a pencil with a note asking you to write down how many pads you had (at 2 euro per pad). As a Platinum accor member, I have never had to pay for any coffee in the room before. There was also no welcome gift (not even when I asked) and the welcome drinks came out of the vending machine down the hall as there was no bar. Breakfast on the other hand was very good. A wide selection a fresh food and hot dishes cooked to order. Staff did their job - some with a smile, others without. Much as I liked the city of Hamelin, I doubt that on a future stay I will return to this hotel.

We stayed 2 nights in Hameln at the Hotel Zur Börse (Boerse if you can't make the ö symbol). It was a nice hotel with a really good breakfast buffet that is included in the price of the room. From the hotel, it is barely a 10 minute walk to the central part of Hameln (Altstadt) and lots of pedestrian walking areas. The rooms were relatively large, clean, albeit a bit outdated with regards to decor and furniture. Not worn out or broken, just well cared for but more 1990's style. It has an elevator so if you have heavy bags as we did, it is a blessing. I had to carry my bags up multiple flights of stairs in other places we stayed so this was a nice touch. Parking will cost extra since there is little to no on-street parking anywhere nearby. I believe we paid around 7 Euros per night to park directly across the street in an underground garage. The hotel staff were efficient but not too talkative...I speak fluent German so that helped a lot. Again, the breakfast buffet was first class - very typically German with eggs, sausages, breads, various cheeses, sliced meats, 3 kinds of Müsli, juices, espresso, coffee, etc. You won't leave hungry! Overall not a bad place and the price is within reason for the hotel's central location. Hameln is a cute little town...not overly crowded with tourists and a good place to learn about their story of the Rattenfänger (Pied Piper) of Hameln!

This is a lovely hotel situated in a quiet street right on the edge of the old town. All of the main sights are within very easy walking distance along with good restaurants. There is parking behind the hotel in the courtyard be looking in an underground garage. The rooms are lovely and spotlessly clean. Beautiful bathrooms. Breakfast is superb - really unusual and delicious choices along with all the traditional choices too. Lovely scrambled eggs with bacon and fresh herbs, pots of hot coffee, sausages, salads even a delicious plum crumble. Freshly baked quark dough. A great start to the day. We weren't hungry until 4pm! Very friendly and attentive staff who were extremely helpful. Tea and coffee and cake available in reception all day free of charge. We walked to the Rattenfängerhaus - Pied Piper's house- just 10 minutes walk and had a lovely evening meal. The Rattenkrug is even nearer and looked superb. The beds are a little hard - mattress pads would be a great addition and make this the perfect place to stay. Fans in the rooms would also be nice for hot weather. Some rooms are in the annexe at the back of the hotel which doesn't have a lift. Make sure you specify if you couldn't manage stairs. A lovely visit to a lovely town. We very much hope to return.
