This used to be one of the best hotels in Port Elizabeth, but it has lost its charm. Checking was a nightmare and no manager in sight. The receptionists are very incompetent and have no manners whatsoever. They need to be reminded as to whom is paying their salaries. Breakfast service was poor, with chipped plates and coffee cups being given to us. For the price paid and what I received, I would have assumed I was in a hostel. Just left and went to wimpy where the service and meals were on standard. Will never be back and will ensure that my company books elsewhere next time.

We visited PE as part of our SA holiday and spent three very enjoyable nights at Carslogie. The Guesthouse is a very friendly family run business and is located a short walk to the beach and the coastal path. The rooms have a very nice setting, around the swimming pool. We chose Room 4, which also accommodates a sofa bed. The room and en-suite were very spacious. Breakfast was very good and cooked to order.

The reception and bar look lovely and that is where it ends. We had lunch and breakfast there m, it was ok. The outside needs a coat of paint and so does the inside. They showed us to our room. I then googled what we paid for and this was the basic room. Back to reception and we waited to another room was ready. It was more than double the size. It desperately needed painting and updating. Towels where well worn and furniture old. The terrace was broken with bits of tiles everywhere. The pool was dirty. The tiles broken and a sewage smell. There was lots of noise from the road and bars. There was nothing to do in the town we only stayed for the airport and that was a mistake. Avoid they have really let this get run down.

Really appreciated the warm welcome and information regarding both the property and local facilities. Excellent service and prompt attention when we encountered issues with the electrics - we were quickly and efficiently moved to an alternative room and were even offered a move to the Garden house. I was so delighted with the looks of the place and the service of the staff, that I informed my colleagues about it to check it out for future guests! Tasteful breakfast, peaceful place where you can really come to rest. If I have to say something that can be improved: the TV was not a smart TV and there were some ants in the house. Other than that no remarks whatsoever. IF there was an issue, they would immediately respond and look for a solution!

We arrived a little early for our room, but there didn't seem to be a problem and we were soon shown to our room. This was supposed to be a luxury sea facing room. It was neither. My husband went straight back down to reception. They said they only had twin beds in a luxury, sea facing room. We decided to go for that. Again, it was not luxury in any sense of the word. As it was only one night, we settled. Toilet seat was a cheap plastic that folded up when you got up. Rusty unit on the balcony. Barely a sea view. Chipped paintwork. Mouldy bathroom. The food in the restaurant was very good and so was the breakfast. Staff in the restaurant were very good. Reception not that great - they need to be more welcoming. The whole hotel really needed an uplift though. It is not on the beach as advertised, it is sideways on and a block away! False advertising.

A good experience from booking the stay to checkout. My request for a sea facing room was granted despite the hotel being fully booked which took some reshuffling on their part. All staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty with plenty of options and good coffee. I would stay there again.

We loved our recent stay at Cape Flame! It was clean and beautiful with the most comfortable bed! The staff is also exceptional- friendly and attentive. We enjoyed breakfast at the guesthouse everyday and ate several evening meals as well. Everything was delicious. We also loved that the guesthouse is well located, a short drive from anywhere in town and only a 5 minute walk to the beach! Home away from home, the place is perfect, I can't fault it really. The Wi-Fi perfect, you even forget there is load shedding. This is my preferred place always when I am in PE. The Staff is very kind, I love the old lady, our flight was in the afternoon, and she allowed us to stay a bit longer. Only good things to say ! We loved the upstairs room with nice bedding, clean bathroom and even a balcony overlooking the swimming pool. Had a the chance to spend a weekend at CITY LODGE HOTEL P.E for the end of school holiday. I am not one to choose accomodatio at hotel because it is so pricey! City Lodge hotel offered a reasonable rates and we also had to try their buffet breakfast. Our family had the absolute time of their life! The kids first time at a hotel and they absolutely enjoyed their stay and the amazing selection at the buffet breakfast. The staff were so friendly and the place is neat ang clean! This hotel is my ultimate choice!

We had actually planned to stay at Hotel No5 by Manis in Port Elisabeth for just one night, but after spending some hours here we decided to extend our visit. You just expect that Marlene Dietrich come down the staircase after filming the latest Josef von Sternberg Movie :-) The first night we stayed at the Executive Suite at Hotel No5 which is great. Elegantly designed and well-appointed, it provides a perfect blend of comfort and luxury. The attention to detail in the decor and amenities makes the stay in the Executive Suite truly memorable. For the second night we choose to stay at the presidential suite which, in our opinion, is a true masterpiece. The tasteful and authentic furnishings create an atmosphere of opulence and grandeur. As we then had to extend for even one more night the staff really cared about us and was very helpful. The hotel has a charming small pool area, offering a perfect spot to relax and unwind. Additionally, the on-site restaurant is of a high quality, we tried it for dinner and room service and were never disappointed. Our stay at Hotel No5 by Manis in Port Elizabeth was very nice, great service , an unique art deco museum setting and great rooms.
