Toshimaya is my first ryokan experience, and I wasn’t disappointed. The staff was understanding that we were foreigners who don’t speak Japanese. They took the time to introduce to us the room and their facilities, including the young man at dinner, who tried to explain each dish despite his limited English. After typhoon Hagibis, I was worried that this coastal establishment may be affected, but I realised when I arrived that they have the protection of a sea wall. And I was told that the water level didn’t go beyond the front garden. Finally, I would like to thank Watanabe-san for picking us up at the station, and helping us to reserve train seats for our trip. I was stressing over a communication breakdown at the ticketing counter until he came and settled it for me. For that, I’m very thankful

A small hotel by the beach. The japanese style room is quite big. The staffs are very kind especially Ms. Ota. The food also good. We do love hitachi beef steak! If we had a chance to go there again we will definitely stay here.

The scenic Itsuura coastline was a favorite of famous Japanese artist Yokoyama Taikan and has been used as a model in his work. This hotel's broad windows provide views overlooking the Pacific, giving guests the opportunity to appreciate the great ocean's natural splendor.

Located very close to the coast and beach with a full view of the Pacific ocean and amazing sunrise, it is a Japanese style inn that offers rooms with tatami straw mat floor where you can stay in Yukata typical Japanese robe after soaking into Onsen hot spring and sleep in futon bedding laying out directly, and serves fresh seafood including anglerfish that is a specialty of Kitaibaraki from September to March, and Hitachi premium brand beef of Ibaraki for guests who are not fond of the fish.
