The hotel room is very small, especially the design of the sink is very ridiculous, it is very inconvenient to wash your face, but the bed is very comfortable, the surroundings are quiet, the traffic is convenient, and you can sleep for a night on a short trip. However, the reception staff at the front desk is very poor, especially the Chinese who have poor English attitudes may be worse, or it may be caused by cultural differences. Some of our habits are not consistent with Westerners, which causes many misunderstandings. Normal communication, don't imagine that there is no problem with enthusiastic service.

Our group booked this hotel via booking.com and I must admit I looked at the reviews on trip advisor after it was booked and panicked. Firstly, it really isn’t half as bad as people are making out. Rooms are relatively clean but the towels are a bit undesirable. I found it weird that they left our dirty towels on a chair but replaced them in the bathroom only to find that the clean ones smelt so we used our previous ones. If you can bring your own towel I would recommend this. Also, the bathroom is a wet room so when one person takes a shower the whole room is soaked! As there were four our us sharing this did become a bit of an issue. However we were only using this hotel as a place to rest our heads so it really didn’t bother us too much. Arriving there you need to catch a metro or get a free ferry across and then it’s about a 20/25 minute walk. To get to the metro is much easier so use that! We arrived quite late back most nights and found uber was so much easier getting back. There’s a spar and a subway real close by to grab water and things, a vending machine if you are caught short and lovely coffee from the hotel in the mornings. I felt the staff were a bit blunt with us to be honest but it was a busy weekend and a large group, however a smile wouldn’t have gone a miss. I would use this hotel again though but if you are planning on using the hotel room for more than just sleeping then I would encourage you to look elsewhere.

Booked an 8 bed room (4 bunks) for a stag group from the UK. Location - No where near the centre of Amsterdam. From Centraal Station take the free ferry over the river which departs every 5mins. The journey takes less then a minute. Then a 25/30min walk to the hostel through a 'sketchy' area. Arrival - Main door was locked. Knocked a number of times. 5mins later an Asian man answers the door telling us to 'chill out' with the knocking. No apology. Stepped inside to be hit with a strong smell of a Pakistani curry house/corner shop if you get my drift. Overpowering. No reception. Stood in the hallway, he asked us to pay up €24 City tax before handing the key over. One key between 8 of us for the room & main entrance. Advised checkout was 10am. Room - The 8 bed dorm wasn't actually too bad. Clean bedding and the whole room was pretty comfortable and clean. All you can ask for at the price you pay. Shared shower room with 2 showers and only 1 toilet cubical for the whole floor. In summery. Rooms not too bad but the location is awful. Would definitely pay a little extra to stay closer to the centre. Tip - If you want to get an Uber/Taxi to the centre then ask to go the ferry terminal rather than the station on the other side of the river. The ferry is free. Will save you €10/15 in a taxi fare.

I stayed here with two friends for 2 nights over the 8th of August weekend. We arrived at the hotel at 3.30pm (check in time is 3pm), and were greeted by the owners wife a very nice Irish woman, who told us that the room was not ready yet. No problem we went for a drink at a bar down the road and left our bags in the hotel and returned around 30 minutes later where we were taken to our room. The room was on the second floor up some very steep steps, not a problem for us but something to be aware of. The room was okay, and all we wanted was a bed for the night as we didn't expect to spend too much time here. The weather that weekend was 30+ degrees but we didn't expect the room to have AC. The bathroom facilities were shared and which wasn't a problem but I could barely close the door behind me in the toilet as the space was that small and it was a very uncomfortable experience. The sleep quality in this hotel was awful, as mentioned in other reviews every time someone opened or closed a door a large bang would follow. There was a group of 5-6 people in the room next to us and two doors leading to the bathroom shower area so every single morning we were awoken by a non stop series of bangs (I'm talking about 20 loud bangs). I had ear plugs in and was still awoken every time by the noise and vibrations. We checked out of our room 15 minutes late as the two shared showers were being used which resulted in us being slightly late, we explained, apologised and there were no problems at the time, we left our bags at the hotel as our flight was not until the evening and enjoyed our last day. We arrived back at 6.15pm to collect our bags and be on our way to the airport, when collecting our bags we were cornered in the small bag room and confronted aggressively by the owner, a dutch man who we had never met before, about why we thought it was acceptable to check out late. We explained our reason and apologised but he did not stop here, he then accused us of leaving our bags at the hotel without permission which was not true and the woman who we asked was there and stated that we had asked. I then reminded him that we never caused a problem when our room was an hour late to be ready which did not go down well with him. We picked up our bags and left the hotel and waited for our taxi, we were followed outside the hotel by the man continuing to complain about the fact we were 15 minutes late checking out. The man then asked me and my friends what religion we were as this that had something to do with anything. We were not once confrontational to the man or any of the staff members but it seems he was after an argument and couldn't let the issue go. I would never normally give a negative review to a hotel and up until the point of check out I wouldn't have said the experience was negative. But you cannot treat your guest like that especially when it felt to me that there was a underlying discrimination element to it. Everyone at the hotel was friendl

The entire staff was an 11 out of 10!!! Friendly, helpful, happy and grateful for our visit to their establishment. Really helpful with suggestions, directions, ordered museum tickets for us, really cared that we had an enjoyable stay. Beds very comfortable, clean and overall a top notch establishment. The only thing that could improve would be a better solution to 3rd floor windows rattling a bit with high winds. I was able to stuff a few earplugs between the window frame to cushion the banging from wind which did help significantly. Not enough of an issue to complain directly to management while on site because the noise was greatly reduced with my quick fix. I'm sure they would have addressed promptly if I had escalated. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Oh my word. How incredible is this establishment. We were welcomed like family on arrival hot and sweaty from a long walk. Our room was stunning, beautifully decorated, huge and overlooking the canal. The bed was extremely comfy and the bathroom was to die for. There is a fully equipped Kitchenette in the room which was a lovely surprise and the fridge was stocked with beer and soft drinks all included in the room rate. Personal touches such as travel plugs provided really made us feel special. There are only 2 rooms so it's like having your own house. You are given a key and told to come and go as you please and make yourself at home. We had breakfast with the other couple who were staying there unbeknownst to us as it was so peaceful. Breakfast was served by an absolutely delightful lady who made is all feel at ease with one and other and brought the conversation to life. I cannot wait to stay here again it's beautiful in every way.

I stayed at Hotel Imperial one week for the Amsterdam Dance Event. I had requested a quiet room, and was given a key card to a top floor room facing the back of the hotel. I wasn't expecting the room to be that quiet, since the hotel is in the middle of Rembrantplein with many cafes and bars, but it was actually very quiet! The room itself looked newly renovated yet retained it's vintage style. All the desk staff were friendly and helpful. Hairdryers are available on request from the desk and may be left in the room for the duration of the stay. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant, so to make up for it, they allow guests to dine anywhere in the city before 10:30am, and then give 5€ back for each person toward their breakfast. This was a nice little perk that made eating breakfast more adventuresome and the choices are unlimited! The bed and pillows were a little too firm for my comfort, but I got used to it after the first night. There's no elevator, so I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone with limited mobility. But otherwise, it's a few flights of stairs up and down for a hralthy leg workout. Overall, the location in the city center is really convenient to the trams, the rooms were nice and it's a good value. If it says anything, I booked again there for next year on the way out!

From the location,to the decor to the friendly staff, this is your no nonsense address in Amsterdam and at excellent rates. I checked in for the last few days of my trip to The Netherlands which would take in Amsterdam. If you have heavy suitcases then I recommend a tram from Amsterdam Centraal to Rembrandtplein which is just a few stops away. Remember to buy an Amsterdam Travel card which allows unlimited bus and tram travel for 1 to 3 days. Enquire at the iamsterdam office opposite Centraal Station. At Rembrandtplein, exit the tram and cross over to your left. Walk straight down until you are opposite The Amstel and turn left and walk for not even 5 minutes ! The Bird inspired decor in Reception, the lifts, the rooms and even the ground floor washroom is awesome ! The toilet based next to the lift is better suited to those of large build as the room toilets are placed in such a way that a bigger person can not use the toilet properly. There are souvenier and convenience stores nearby as well as Halal fast food. The hotel offers free canal cruises and/or bicycle loan. The cruise is not operational during the pandemic. There are free sweets, tea and coffee in Reception as well as maps and discount coupons. The star of the hotel is the charming Mr Poo ! I will be back !

We couldn't have picked a better property for our first stay in Amsterdam. Not only is the location ideal but the property itself along with the persons at the front desk were excellent. The rooms are spacious, inviting and very comfortable with all the amenities you would expect. And if there was anything you needed, the front desk staff were helpful in providing directions to the nearest store that would fulfill your needs. The staff were also very helpful in booking excursions and recommending restaurants and even helped us find medical assistance when needed. We were also delighted that language was not an issue and we were able to have some fun and entertaining chats with the staff. We would have preferred to have a couple extra pillows for the bed, but that's about the only negative thing I can think of to say. Definitely would recommend this property and plan to use again in future.

Definitely recommended if you’re open for something really special and very eclectic. Located right in the city center and has the best best best bathtub ever as well as a lovely fireplace - so don’t be surprised if you end up not leaving the place at all haha. Service was good, it feels more like an AirBnB than a hotel in the sense that someone will give you a tour, hand over the keys and then the place is yours. Host was available at all times for questions though so no pay off there. The kitchen is quite small and could be better equipped. There’s a bigger kitchen downstairs (not part of the apartment you rent) so if you’re planning on preparing a multi-course dinner you might want to check in advance if you can borrow some stuff etc.

We feel very lucky to choose this hotel. We had booked our trip to Amsterdam months ago, but now this is not possible due to Corona. We had a non-refundable reservation with a fixed date. We had paid for everything to have a carefree vacation. Now we can not go, and we were afraid to lose all that money and still have no vacation. When I contacted the hotel, they were very understanding. They said even for our non-refundable reservation we would be allowed to reschedule our booking so we can still have our vacation later this year. This is really wonderful, a big thank you to the hotel staff for their help in this difficult time.

Our short (2 week) trip in Amsterdam got extended to 6 weeks! The management and staff bent over backwards to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Helpful, friendly and 100% customer focused, the staff made our stay really feel like a home away from home. Daily cheese platters (with wine), a rotation of sweets (Dutch candies, cookies, etc) and a well-stocked, open bar make the living room gezellig (cozy/comfortable). Location? It doesn't get better. The Mansion is very centrally located (grachtengordel) with easy access to museums, restaurants, bars/cafes and public transportation. Feel like getting around the city more comfortably? The Banks Mansion can rent you a bicycle, too. We travel to Amsterdam 3-4 times a year (excluding COVID chaos times), and this hotel will DEFINITELY be where we stay, and we are recommending it to all our friends. This is the first time I have posted a review of a hotel. This is the first time the experience motivated me to share with others - it's THAT GOOD. Forget the "big name hotels." Stay here and have a MUCH better experience, delivered by the "Banks Family."

Great hotel and friendly staff. We arrived late on a Friday night and had booked a room for 4. We had no expectations for the room as it was so cheap but were pleasantly surprised. The room was on the first floor and was huge with 4 comfortable beds, a seating area and a very large en-suite bathroom with jacuzzi bath and separate shower. The hotel was centrally placed opposite a park and a canal in a quiet leafy location. A fabulous cafe bar (Smit&Voot) was 20 steps away - which served great food and snacks until 1am. Being a girls weekend away we didn’t make use of the hotel’s dining facilities but they had a warm cosy dining room and served breakfast @€10 until 10am. Checkout was a relaxed 11am and, as we had a late flight home on Sunday, we were able to leave our bags in a locked room after checkout until returning at our convenience to collect them. Great location, friendly helpful staff, clean airy room and very reasonably priced. We will be booking again for sure!

We had a wonderful stay. We were recently there celebrating our 1-year anniversary as we got married at The Dylan last year. So we can wholeheartedly say from experience that everything this hotel does is impeccable. The space itself is remarkable -- historic yet upscale, unique but simultaneously classic. From the overall architecture to the little details throughout the hotel, everything is done in such beautiful taste. Our favorite room is the lounge where you can sit and enjoy coffee or tea or something from the inventive cocktail list. Of course the garden is always a joy on a sunny (or at least dry) day – and a great place at this time when fresh air is a major plus. Most of all, the team at The Dylan is top-class. They will do everything they can to make your stay (or event) the best it can possibly be. A special thanks is due to Myrthe and Chef Kuipers (and Sam and Geke) for always making our experience extra special. When it comes to planning your event, we cannot imagine anyone better than Myrthe. She is professional, organized, kind, patient, persevering, and willing to work together with you to co-create your vision. Our wedding was somewhat unconventional and she and the Dylan team really got behind our ideas and helped bring them to life. All of our guests raved about their level of professionalism. Restaurant Vinkeles is our favorite in Amsterdam, with a vegetarian menu and service unlike any we've had before. Chef Kuipers is simply a genius! He invented a 7-course vegetarian meal for our wedding. They were even thoughtful enough to bring one of our dishes back for upon check in for our 1-year anniversary stay. Just to give you an idea of how much attention to detail goes into making guests and patrons feel most welcome.

In addition to the location, I can't see the quality that this price should have. The hotel is sandwiched between two streets, and it is very noisy all day, especially on the back. There are several 24-hour restaurants downstairs. There are people calling in the middle of the night, and the five-point garbage truck delivery car is coming. The inconvenience of parking is extremely troublesome for us to come by car.

We arrived early on 20th December and had previously asked through Booking.com if we could check in early. They came back and told us we could, however, upon trying to check in we were told this was a Booking.com reply and not from the hotel itself. We were permitted to leave our suitcases and we were permitted to check in slightly earlier than the 2.00 pm normal time. We were grateful of this as we were soaking wet from the rain. The stairs are exactly as described, very steep and quite difficult to navigate with big boots on, however we did get used to these. Our room 207 was directly over the street and facing The Amstel. It was very noisy, particularly late at night. Rowdy people fighting on 2 nights, early collection or delivery of bottles to a local bar, but we did get back to sleep. The beds were very comfortable but the mattresses did keep slipping to the side for some reason. Tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar. A hundred euro deposit is taken upon arrival and any purchases from the mini bar are taken from this. This deposit also covers the loss of any key. I didn't feel safe in the room as the door opened directly into the room and there was no chain to prevent anyone else from coming in. We could use the door lock but an internal chain provides more reassurance that the door won't be opened from outside. The towels were very small and had seen better days, holes and although clean they weren't the best. Adequate but not great. Our room was not cleaned the first day as we had been out the entire day, got back about 4.15 exhausted and soaking wet and the room had not been seen to by then. The maid arrived at about 4.40 but we just asked for clean towels as we wanted our privacy at this point. The room had been empty all day we considered this to be rather late to be inconvenienced after getting back wet and exhausted. The next day the room was cleaned before we got back. As advertised, the hotel does not have a restaurant and doesn't provide breakfast. The staff are friendly and it's a perfect location. We were due to leave on Christmas Day but left a couple of days earlier. We would recommend this hotel, but if you like a lush bathroom, nice towels and a little more in the way of room service, then this hotel probably isn't for you.

Westerpark
We had a fabulous stay here. Room was spacious and comfortable and the 24/7 coffee in reception was lovely, we had a couple of takeaway Lattes which was great as we set off for the day. Jeroen on reception greeted us and was really attentive and organised bus tickets for us and gave us a map pointing out all the places we'd planned to visit, he gave us instructions on what transport to get which was so vital in getting our trip off to a flying start. would highly recommend this hotel.

Amsterdam-Centrum
Myself, and my partner are currently staying in room 404 at Hotel Hermitage, to visit Amsterdams Christmassy vibes and culture. The hotel overall is very clean, the staff are all very friendly, polite and helpful. We arrived a coupe of hours before our designated check in time, however the receptionist allowed us to check in early as our room was ready! Great Start! 👍🏻 Room 404, is a very strange room as the bath room and main bed room area are in separate rooms across the corridor of the hotel floor. (Not great if I’m honest) The view from the hotel / bedroom 404 windows is fantastic! Great view of one of the canal and draw bridge in Amsterdam. Inside the hotel bedroom area, is very clean, beds were made every morning, the tv was a bit of a let down, you can’t move the angle of the position, you can’t watch it in bed. The FREE, tea and coffee inside the hotel, was not accompanied by any sugar, milk or even mugs! So not sure how you were expected to drink them! The Hotel is around a 20 minute walk from the main tourist area, which is great! as it’s not too over crowded, or loud. The bathroom for 404, as previously mentioned was in a different room across the corridor from the main bedroom area, this was a little bit of a pain, especially when you need to use the toilet in the middle of the night, the bath room was VERRY small, so much so you couldn’t move, or get changed in the room. Some of the tiles In the shower area were broken so it was quit sharp to walk on, the room was really small to the fact the sink actually covers some of the toilet, enforcing you to sitting on a angle on the toilet. (The shower it’s self is nice, very powerful water pressure) Not sure what the food is like at the hotel, as we walked about 10 minutes down the road to a cafe called “Tante Roosje” extremely friendly service! Fantastic food. (Check out my review for them) Amsterdam Central Station is around a 25 minute walk from the hotel, not sure how much the tram service is, however the service does go from the hotel to the station, so might be helpful for some people.

I never ever expected myself visiting Amsterdam by I'm so glad I did and after all the research into where to stay, I can honestly say I found the perfect place. Hotel Abba is easy to reach from the airport, tram stop just outside the hotel. Located near the centre and has beautiful surroundings. It was hard to keep the phone inside of the pocket. I was picture crazy! So the Hotel. I was greeted by a lovely Irish/Dutch lady. Very helpful and polite. I met a few other staff members there also who were very friendly. 10/10 staff. The room was decent for the price. Balcony with nice view, comfy bed, TV with good channels including sports :D Only downside I have to the room is it gets damp by the window on the floor. Slept so well! 9/10 room. Breakfast. Well I wasn't expecting what I had. They accommodated me early for breakfast as I was leaving early. The choice was awesome. The peanut butter you gotta try. Quality of bread amazing. Juice was really good. Can't be cheap! 10/10 Overall I'd recommend to everyone. Whether alone or in a group. You'll get lost in the surroundings, sleep well and have a great breakfast. I'll be back 100% Forgot to say to the hotel. I left you guys some beers to say thanks!
