I stayed one night at Hotel Moguntia before a flight out from Frankfurt airport the next day. They were nice enough to let me check-in early when I emailed them about 5-6 days before my arrival and mentioned that a key would be left for me in the box. When I arrived, there was no key in the box when I used the code provided, so I had to turn on roaming on my cellphone to text them and they had to ask housekeeping to let me in to my room. This was resolved relatively quickly. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It's about a 15 minute walk from the main train station - my suggestion would be to walk along the main road as there are less cobblestones to drag luggage. My only complaints are that the bathroom trash can was not emptied from the previous guest and the rooms next to the elevators are pretty noisy in the morning as people are checking out. Otherwise, a nice stay at Hotel Moguntia for solo travelers on a budget.

Daddy can we stay here for ever and ever? That was the first thing my 4 year old said when she saw the hotel rooms at Best Western Mainz. That sums up the review of the hotel Mainz is a beautiful place and best Western has picked a beautiful spot for a hotel. Yes it's a 1 km walk uphill from the railway station to the hotel but it's worth the walk. Really picturesque walk in autumn. The rooms were big and beautiful and airy.i wish my rooms had a better view of the outdoors but I can move with that. My 4 year old just could not get enough of the rooms, the soft bed and the fluffy pillows. What I loved most about the service was that no service was needed. Everything was in place from water bottles to towels to the right temperature air conditioning. I never needed to ask for anything. The restaurant below served an amazing breakfast buffet. But Germany generally does serve sumptuous breakfast. Dinner was also good and they were really good about kids. (In my experience,Restaurants in small towns can get a little prickly about noisy excited lil kids in their restaurant but these guys were very sweet.) If I have to complain then I guess I will have to complain about the really slow printer at the reception. It took me 10 minutes to log in to my mail and take a print of my ticket. But you can avoid the hassle by printing your tickets at home. My wife happily abandoned her sightseeing plans in favour of relaxing at the hotel. And that has rarely happened:-)

My room was perfectly adequate for a 3-night stay but it was quite small, very small bathroom (you can't open the shower door completely as it bangs into the washbasin), there were no toiletries apart from a hair conditioner and liquid soap, two smallish towels, one pillow, one thin duvet. Water from the shower leaked out over the bathroom floor, toilet in narrow space between wall and shower. The door keys are a bit clunky (some doors have plastic card keys, apparently, but mine didn't). Overall, a 1960s feel about it. I didn't have breakfast as 12.50 euros is quite expensive - cheaper to get a smoothie or juice and Danish pastry on the way into town. But the staff at the front desk were very friendly and everything was clean. And only a few minutes from the station, easy to find, handy for the old town and with a grassy avenue out front.

This is a small hotel across the road from the main train station in Mainz, but this benefit is also its Achilles Heel as you can hear the noise from those travelling to, and from, the station as well as other residents who have come for a 'party' weekend. My friends and I from the UK had booked several rooms through one of our local friends and check-in was a breeze. My local friend had passed our details, so all we had to do was pick up our keys and get to our rooms. There is a lift, or you can just use the stairs and the rooms are located just off of the main corridor on each floor, all of which were spotlessly clean and well lit. The double room I was staying in had 2 single beds and 2 bedside tables with lighting switches on both sides of the beds, for a wall lamp and the room itself. There's a TV with local channels and 1 English speaking channel (BBC World Service News). It also had a small table and chair and a desk and chair in the other corner. The room was front facing and had 2 'balcony' windows - the balcony was merely decorative and not big enough to step out onto, really, but in hot summer months, you can open the window fully and not be afraid of falling out! The en-suite is located behind the door to the room and was very small. Half of it was taken up by the walk-in shower which mean the toilet and sink were squashed together, with little room to walk around - certainly with only enough room for 1 person to be in (unless you have someone in the shower!). You only get 1 pillow and the bed wasn't too bad, but the decor is certainly from another decade! Those who like the retro look will take to it, as it is like something out a magazine from the 70's or early 80's! My room, on the 2nd floor, was warm enough (I had to turn down the heating at one stage), but the thin door meant I could hear other residents coming back to their rooms on the same floor, although the walls managed to keep a lot of the noise out, once they got inside their rooms. Breakfast is at their restaurant on the ground floor and serves the traditional continental breakfast of a cold meats platter, various breads and rolls, as well as yoghurts, cereals, fruit and fruit juices. A machine provides you with different styles of coffee and hot water for a selection of tea bags - note: they DO NOT have English Breakfast tea bags, so if you want a 'normal' cuppa, you'll have to bring your own. The main thing, though is the water bath for boiled eggs. It's similar to a deep fat fryer but has water instead of oil and a number of metal egg holders which hook onto the side with the egg dunked into the hot water, which is kept at a constant temperature. Once you've put your egg into the water, you pick up one of the egg timers nearby which are the 'sand in an hour glass' type but are for 7 minutes, which is the optimum time for a soft boiled egg. You can, of course, leave it longer or take your egg out earlier, but I found 7 minutes to be perfec

I had stayed in this hotel in different cities including Mainz. Last time I visited this hotel in Mainz in 2019 I rated 4. But this time I rate it 3 since they have changed some of their policies and also I had new experiences in new hotels in the same area. Pros: 01- From business point of view , the hotel is very close to Sixt car rental. So it is very convenient to get and return the car. 02- Close to train station, however you need to walk about 5 min. If you want to be close to train station they are other hotel in the same are which are closer to train station. 03- Rooms are clean and spacious. 04- Thee provide local transportation pass. Last year they were giving you for one week but this time they said they reduced it to 3 days. However it seems they renew it in case needed. 05-The breakfast is good enough 06- Staff are ok but you may need sometimes to do follow up 07- Price wise, if I get same price on some other hotels in the same area then I would prefer to the other ones that I had experiences recently, but if teh price is lower then I may choose InterCity hotel. Cons: 01- The hotel doesn't have Gym-fitness room 02- We requested bath-robe. We had to do a deposit of 10 euro. Other hotel in the same area that I stayed don't ask for deposit 03- Sometime you need to follow up with staff 04- The parking ticket machine is not on driver side, so when you need to get out you have to get out to validate the car and then get in and leave the parking??? For improvement I would say the hotel can improve their response time to some requests. Our safe battery died so basically we couldn't lock it anymore. Even though we requested 2 times, nothing happened till we left the hotel.

My partner and I stayed here last week during our visit to Mainz. I stayed here for business back in December and my second visit was just as great as the first. The room was very pleasant and cozy with a large queen bed and lots of pillows. Tea and coffee is provided, as well as some free soft drinks in the minibar. The coffee machine took a bit of figuring out (there are some instructions on the back, but be sure to fill the water to the max level - otherwise it didn’t seem to work) because I’m not familiar with coffee pad machines! It made a really smooth tasting coffee, though. I think probably the best thing about the room is the amazing shower! Feels like standing under a waterfall in a shampoo advert. Amazing temperature and water pressure and very spacious, meaning you just don’t want to leave!! Having such a great shower was really appreciated because it was about 34 Celsius and we were having to shower multiple times a day. The hotel is in a great location - very close to the train station, meaning very easy access to the airport and other German towns and cities. It’s a very comfortable walk into the centre, too. When you walk into the lobby, there’s a little pop up shop where you can buy gifts and local beer, ice tea, ice cream and other things. Very quirky and making good use of local businesses. I can’t recommend this hotel enough and wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Mainz!

I have stayed at this hotel for over 10 years now. Over that time they have upgraded the beds, the televisions, the alarm clocks, and the lobby to some degree. However the rooms are showing some signs of wear as the door locks don't work anywhere - the lights no longer work on the doors and you have to listen for a click to see if it has unlocked. Also the furniture is worn in the rooms. The elevator doors malfunctioned throughout my stay and need to be fixed. However the staff was tremendous and helped me out extensively when I left my passport at the hotel. The great staff throughout my stay and afterwards make me want to stay there despite the fact the rooms themselves need some work.

We stayed in Hilton Mainz for one week during our business trip to Frankfurt/Ruesseslheim. Therefore, we selected a hotel that was not too far from the business location/office that we could reach by car easily (+/- 20 min). We have arrived at the hotel around 20.00h to check-in and when arriving in the rooms, it was very clean. The rooms were cleaned every day, even there was a note on the door that stated this would be done every 3 days. That surprised me. Everyday I had the breakfast, which was having multiple options as pancakes, scrumbled eggs, yoghurts, bread, etc. Unfortunately I did not have the time to use the gym. Finally, one day I had the roomservice for dinner and took the spaghetti, the service was quite fast and the dinner was good. No issues noted during this trip, would recommend it.

The service at the reception are friendly and focused and the service in the restaurant is also very friendly. The food in the restaurant is fine; - just like the breakfast. The fitness and spa area is average and there is no internet (nor TV) in the fitness area, which is sparce equipped. The room is equipped with what you need/basics. If you love laminate and plastic, you will love this hotel….. Due to the level of service, I would raise the evaluation of the hotel to average.

Our flight arrived VERY early and our transfer delivered us to the hotel. We knew that rooms would not yet be available, but the first desk clerk we spoke to was rather abrupt and rude, telling us we MUST wait until 3 p.m. to check in. We did have breakfast, which was quite good - extensive selection of foods and the best coffee machine ever !! They stored our luggage while we went for a walk by the river (one block from the Rhine). Upon return, the nice, polite manager had rooms for us by 11. A large corner room on the third floor with lots of windows, (Even with the windows open, it was not too noisy for a busy intersection). There is a little entry way with the bathroom, separating the sleeping area from the hallway. The room was spacious enough for two beds and other furniture still leaving ample clearance to move around. The bed was very comfortable (though by that stage of our trip, we probably could have slept on the floor). The location is good - one block from the Rhine, the old part of town outside the back entrance, movie theater one block away, museum across the street. Reasonably priced. I would stay again.

Location: If it is the airport, it is convenient to take the train to the Mainz Theater station, a total of 28 minutes on the road, three stations. The train station goes right and turns, and along the road you can see the Rhine with a large shopping mall. The hotel is right next to the shopping centre. Walking time is about 5-8 minutes. The Rhine is on the doorstep and a few minutes walk from the old town. The shopping centre next to the hotel has shops and supermarkets. Room: Very large, very clean, with slippers but no toiletries, need to bring your own. Great hotel, very recommendable. The surrounding is beautiful!
