We stayed at Hotel Methis for one night in June, as Padua was a good stopping point between Venice and Milan. We arrived at 10 PM and check-in took forever -- the front desk clerk asked what type of room we needed and then disappeared for at least 20 minutes (I think she was cleaning the room). On getting to the room we were immediately disappointed -- it looked nothing like the photos online. The room was dark and dingy; the bathroom was also not clean and I could not bring myself to shower or use their towels. To make matters worse, the mattress was maybe 4 inches thick. If we were not checking in so late in the evening, we would certainly have found another place to stay. In the morning it became clear that we were the only people staying in this terrible hotel. We were the only guests at breakfast, and after 10 minutes of no service I had to go and find someone to give us coffee. To top off this terrible stay, in the hallway the cleaning staff was arguing loudly when we left. This was a very unpleasant stay and I would have preferred to sleep in our rental car.

A good choice for Padua; centrally located (right by the main squares) and within walking distance of the main sights and university. My wife and I stayed 7 nights so were given what appeared to be the largest room (315) on the third floor (no worry about stairs as they have a tiny lift). This was very spacious with plenty of room for luggage and a more than adequate bathroom. The room was also clean and well maintained. The system for getting the air con working was rather bizarre but a very helpful member of staff was on hand to show us how to get it going. The TV also needed fiddling about with to get it working and the range of light switches did not seem to have a logical basis but nothing to cause concern. We had asked for a room at the back of the hotel as we had seen other reviews which showed concern over noise levels from the square at the front. However, this room was at the front but we guessed as we were staying for a relatively long period we were given the best room. True enough noise at night could be heard but it wasn't intrusive; more of a background murmur similar to traffic in the distance. It did not disturb us once and we slept extremely well all week. The breakfast was of typical Italian fair so don't expect huge buffets found in larger hotels. Everything was fresh and more than met our needs. However, we noticed on one morning went we arrived at breakfast somewhat later in the day than normal that quite a lot of the choices had gone and stocks did not appear to be being replenished. The staff were all polite and friendly and were happy to help when asked. The price was good (costing us substantially less for 7 nights than 5 nights cost us in Rome for example) and I would advise anyone wishing to see Venice should stay in Padua, which is reasonably priced across the board (and only 24 minutes away by train). Padua is a very good base to travel to other cities round and about and a very elegant city in its own right. I would definitely visit again and I would certainly stay at this hotel.

What I liked: the room is big enough and clean. The shower cabin can fit two people, which is far from the usual cabins where each turn or move ends up in an injury :) The position of the shower was my favorite part. It is fixed in the wall, and my back got a wonderful and welcoming massage effect from it. You get the essentials: shower cap, soap and bath gel. The room comes with tv and a mini fridge as well. The heating is excellent. What I didn’t like: No wifi in my room. Very poor selection for breakfast, not even the usual Italian breakfast variety. No hams or any meat products, no actual cheese, only that tasteless excuse for a toast cheese. A marmelade jar and a huge block of butter, some boiled eggs. I did have a nice cornetto or croissant, and there were other sweet pastries. There was also a fruit salad, but no vegetables. I was maybe 5 minutes late for the start of the breakfast, and since it is a tiny dinning room I’ve seen what’s on anyone’s plate, and that was it. I don’t get people who can eat sweets when hungry, so I would’ve wanted some other choices as well. The keychains! They are huge, made of plastic and they clack like hell whenever someone opens their door. Change them! The picture on the wall was of the Arc de triomphe in Paris. Why, next to all the monuments in Italy? I didn’t have issues with traffic noise, and my only regret is that I didn’t take the time to give the famous restaurant a try. All in all, a nice hotel.

The hotel to Venice, 30 km from Venice, the car can be parked in the parking lot before the Venice Bridge, only 5 euros. I saw a lot of guests from the Hong Kong and Indian groups. The steaks and roast chickens in the restaurant next door are great; the hamburger meatballs across the road are also good; the price of accommodation is not expensive; the disadvantages are also obvious: close to the highway, affecting sleep. A little bit biased, it is quite good for self-driving tour. There is a buffet Chinese restaurant around, the love of Chinese stomach! There is a big supermarket about 3 kilometers away, a cheap choice!

We stayed 2 nights at this comfortable B&B on the outskirts of Padua and loved it.The owners were extraordinarily helpful, picking us up at the Padua train station, giving us directions for the bus, and driving us back to the train station after our stay. The son, Felipe, actually drew a special map for us with all the sights marked that we wanted to see! The family made us feel thoroughly at home when we came down to breakfast every day. Breakfast offered numerous choices, including as much coffee as we wanted. We stayed in the apartment just a block away. It was very reasonably priced, and we had our own kitchen, living area, and 2 bedrooms. The B&B is in a quiet residential neighborhood. I highly recommend this B&B!

We travelled with 2 babies under 4, and as complicated type of a customer we are, the hotel staff did everything possible to make us comfortable. Although their facilities are not so new and rooms are small, we were cared for by amazing staff that cleaned and prepared room every day, brought extra beds and linen in a matter of minutes. We got loads of small snacks (courtesy of hotel) that babies loved. To be honest, we came with a negative bias because in the first instance when we heard that the reception staff didn’t speak much English, but we changed our attitude completely. Great job, hotel!:)

The hotel is a stone's throw from the Basilica of St. Anthony. The staff are very friendly, and the hotel is very clean. The room we had was unassuming but had a good television with CNN available as well as other Italian stations. The bathroom was fine with the usual basic toiletries as well as a hair dryer. The breakfast was also very good with a good variety of food. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel that could be very useful if you don not feel like looking for a restaurant. There is also on an ice cream place some 50 metres from the hotel. You just need to turn left when you leave the hotel and walk the 50 metres and on your left you will see the ice cream shop. We would definitely stay here again if we ever return to Padua.

Padova City Center
I’ve never done this before. I’m writing this review three hours into a three night stay. It’s late evening now so I can’t talk about breakfast but I can talk about the place itself. We arrived in Padova by train and took a taxi but the driver was puzzled. He’d never heard of this place. “Palazzo?”, he said with an air of incredulity. He then drove us to a completely wrong part of the city but, with repeated apologies, stopped the meter, reversed illegally for several hundred metres down a one-way street, drove up onto the pavement to get around a chain barrier in the road, and then headed to the address I found for him on Google. He stopped outside this rather forbidding 17thC facade and got out and rang a doorbell. No response. I then phoned the hotel and handed the phone to the taxi driver who then told us someone would be down in a couple of minutes to open the gates. I paid the driver but he said he wanted to stick around. He’d been born and bred here but he’d never seen behind these gates and he had no idea there was a Palazzo inside, so he wanted to see for himself. Sure enough, after two minutes a delightful woman arrived and unbolted the gateway before leading us in through an 18thC vestibule and on into a private courtyard with a truly massive 17thC Hercules sculpture in the middle. On all four sides was the Palazzo, unseen to the outside world. As of this month it has a total of five rooms for guests, three of them being in a newly-converted wing. Happily, we were staying in one of the two original suites. Our truly enormous bedroom, spectacularly furnished with 19thC Italianate furniture, and with an en-suite bathroom fully 6m x 4m, is utterly peaceful and completely private, with its own breakfast room outside our front door, and a limitless supply of coffees and teas and snacks and even wine and Prosecco, all included. This place is the closest I’ve been to living in a private palace since staying on the Norman Gallery of Durham Castle. There’s a large private garden too, but it’s too dark tonight to explore it. The family who have owned the Palazzo for centuries still live in the upstairs rooms, but the whole place is so silent it feels like a nunnery. We are three or four minutes’ walk from the historic centre of Padua, and two minutes from The Scrovegni Chapel with Giotto’s masterpiece. We see that tomorrow. But for tonight I’m content to give this “hotel” my first ever five stars. PS I was so tired (after sharing a bottle of local red) that I forgot to post that review last night. So now we’ve had breakfast, served by a delightful Sir Lanka lady who cooked us eggs accompanied by fresh fruit, toast, crisp fresh croissants, cheeses, ham, slices of cold pork (!), yogurts, fruit juices and cappucini. We didn’t actually eat all of those together. Now, after 24 hours, I can find only two faults with this terrific place. The WiFi, though good at 19MgB, doesn’t work reliably in our bathroom. And the TV, t

I stayed at Le Camp Suite & Spa three times and I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I lived in Padova while in college and I go visit once or twice a year. A couple of years ago I decided to stay at Le Camp Suite & Spa for the first time because of the excellent location, right at the heart of the city and the convenience of free parking, which is a miracle to find at a decent price in the area. I ended up enjoying my stay so much that this became my hotel of choice every time I visit. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the staff always very professional and helpful. Breakfast is included and the selection of food is great and includes Illy coffee. If you want to relax before hitting the city, the spa is really the place to do that in a intimate and cozy atmosphere. I once also tried a massage and I was impressed by the quality of the service. All in all, if you happen to visit this wonderful city, I can't think of a better place to stay for the unbeatable location, the quality and professionalism of the service, and the comfort of the hotel.

This is our 3rd trip to the Veneto and looking for a base that was not Venice but close enough for day trips to Venice we choose Padua and very glad we did such a nice vibrant University Town lots of history without the crowds and the extra $$$$ of Venice. Hotel Donatello is very well located and a great base from which to explore the eastern Veneto and Venice itself only 30 minutes away via the train. We booked a room with a view and that’s exactly what we got plus there was a chilled bottle of Prosecco in the room. Often in these 3 star hotels the breakfast leaves something wanting- not so at Donatello Josepha and Eloy run one of the best breakfast rooms in Italy and the free cappuccinos were first rate . The rest of the staff are just as welcoming and wonderful this might be a 3/4 star hotel but it’s five stars for service!

We stayed for 10 nights at this quiet (35-room) hotel. It is close to St Anthony's Basilica on the southern edge of the city, and about 30 minutes walk from the train station (when pushing a wheelchair, less without). There are buses and a tram, but we never used them. Our room had a very comfortable king-size bed (actually 2 singles made up as one bed), desk and chairs, as well as a shower and toilet. There was excellent free Wi-Fi access. Very little noise came in from outside at night. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. They even found me a local pharmacy that would sell me some antibiotics when I got an abscess under a tooth. Breakfast (7 Euros extra) was always fresh and plentiful. We had cereal, bread buns, meat, cheese, cake, fruit and yoghurt plus coffee and orange juice. Al-in-all thoroughly recommended.

We chose this property for its location, close to the station and still close to the centre of Padova. It was also a very easy walk to the main squares in the centre of Padova, we felt that we were in the city and always felt relaxed strolling home at night. The big bonus is the proerty itself, it doesn't look outstanding from outside but once inside you enter a real Italian house with genuine character. The rooms were large and clean with really good bathrooms. Breakfast was pleasant, people talked and there was a good selection. The second bonus were the hosts who were pleasant, friendly and really helpful. We stayed in this very nice B&B for one night on a recent cycle tour. At first it was hard to find and it took the help of a friendly local to finally locate the address. It is situated in a block of flats which did not look very promising at first sight. However once we were greeted by the friendly Simonette things rapidly improved. She stored our bikes in a secure garage and upon entering the apartment we were very pleasantly surprised. Very modern, very clean and comfortable. (recently totally renovated). First a note to all that are planning to stay the night in Padua. Check the location of this hotel. If you're planning to visit the city centre, than probably this hotel isn't for you, because it's situated in the industrial zone 7km away from the centre. But if you are with a car or motorbike just passing by Padua and need a place to stay the night, than this is definitely the hotel for you. Positive things: - Big private parking - Extremely friendly staff that speaks good English - Buffet breakfast, lots of choice, very tasty - Comfortable bed, extra pillows and an extra blanket - Tea and coffee maker provided in the room - The room was very nice and big Negative - As I stated above, the location of the hotel is not close to the city centre Very pleasant stay!

Although low-key and slightly off the beaten track, this hotel is very accessible and has great parking. Prices are very low for the quality, and there seems to be little turnover of staff, always a good sign. The original specification was very high, and the same family maintain it very well. The breakfast is excellent. The basics all work and it is so easy to get to - you just park outside in front if there is room or round the back with no fuss. I regularly come to Padua and for various reasons have tried lots of hotels, but this is definitely the best value for money.

Hotel Al Santo is a small hotel which is excellently located very close to the Basilica and only a brief 10 minute walk to the main shopping/restaurant area although they are plenty of restaurants and bars near the hotel too. The room was basic but functional, everything was clean and modern. We had no complaints. Each room is unique in size and shape so each review may not be applicable to the room you get. The only issue we had was although the bathrooms itself was of a good size, the actual shower was physically very small. I am 5'6" ish and 11 stone (1.66 m, 154 lb) and I just fit into the shower, anyone of a large size would really struggle to use the shower in our room. However, it was fine for us The breakfast was a wide array of italian pastries and meats along with some fresh fruit and yoghurt and was tasty and sufficient. We stayed here for 1 night mid March '19 . We arrived via train from Bologna. It's only about a 5-10 min walk from the station. 1st impressions of the hotel were very good . It's very much in the 'old style' in terms of décor , and very ornate but tastefully done . Reception staff were good, and check-in swift . Rooms were very nice, with tv, hair dryer, and free to use safe. Wi-fi was free , and good. Breakfast (cold buffet style) was nice, and varied . We were pleasantly surprised by just how lovely the Padova area is The walk from the hotel to the main (mostly pedestrianised ) old town. This covers a large area with lots of nice buildings and churches to be seen. slightly further on from the old town (10 mins walk) is the Basillica of St Anthony , and also the 'Prato della Valle' which is a lovely open area with statues and fountains. We were travelling to Venice Airport the next day , and we were able to get a bus directly to the airport (with a brief stop off in Venice) for only 8.50 euros . Bus station is directly beside the train station. I would have no trouble in recommending this property to other travellers.
