The location of the hotel is indeed the best of Yunxian, built on the volcanic lake. The Japanese emperor who had just ascended the throne had also stayed there. The hot springs here look out over the entire volcanic lake on the second floor. It is a red iron-containing acid spring, but the overall facilities are old and the service is somewhat slow, not as enthusiasm as a traditional Japanese hotel, and the price/performance ratio is comparable to that of the soup stayed the day before. Not too high

I was as little apprehensive staying here given the poor ratings, but I couldn't have been happier. Staff were friendly, and made an effort, although only 1 reception girl spoke any English. I had a Japanese style room overlooking the lake. It was massive, and very comfortable. The only issue was that the windows weren't double glazed, and it was freezing outside (-8c overnight), and the sitting area got extremely cold. I guess it doesn't normally get this cold though. The room was warm with the sliding doors closed. The onsen were perfectly acceptable. The rooftop one was great in the snow! I had half board. The food options were extensive at both breakfast and dinner. If you don't eat Japanese food the choice will be quite limited though. Good selection of free drinks, and decent selection of paid for alcoholic drinks. There's loads of common areas and places to relax. A previous commenter mentioned the long corridors, which is true, the wrong room can mean long walks to the onsen and restaurant. Overall, 5*. But remember this is a JAPANESE hotel, catering to domestic tourists, so don't expect an international style hotel!

Satisfied mentally, satisfied physically Most of the staff were young, but they all had very nice smiles and were very attentive to every detail. Unzen Onsen is my favorite spring quality, and the town itself is a place where steam can be seen floating in the air. This time, I will introduce the ``Open-air bath with a guest room.''It's a spacious room with a view of the steam, as if the guest room is in the open-air bath, and it's one of the best places in the world. The room had a decoration. The food was delicious and made with locally sourced ingredients, and when I told my partner on the internet that he doesn't like meat, they took care of it, so the two of us were able to enjoy the food without having to put up with it. There were various activities, and when my partner came back after participating, he seemed to be having a lot of fun and talked about it a lot. I realized that it was a lot of fun. After it opened, I had a hard time getting a reservation for this place, so I was finally able to stay there. Kai, I always enjoy my time to the fullest from check-in to check-out. As always, this time I was able to leave feeling particularly satisfied both mentally and physically. My partner and I have said that we have no complaints at all. Thank you very much for making this a really good trip.

I saw word of mouth and stayed with only expectation of hot springs. The quality of the spring was as expected. I think it is not bad overall if I don't expect meals. The improvement is as follows. The parking lot is difficult to understand. I didn't know if I had to get off the car and listen to the inn. As a result, I was parked for free in the paid parking lot in front of the sky hotel. There is no drinking water in the cherry blossom bath. You can't change the hot water in the cherry blossom pot. There are few cherry blossom outlets.

Given how far away the island of Kyushu is from Tokyo and Osaka/Kyoto, my perception in the past was that of a backwater that lacked sophistication. After numerous trips to all of the Prefectures the past few years, I've come to the realization that it's rich in history, culture, nature and - yes - a wonderful gastronomic identify. Unzen Kyushu Hotel is yet another example of a Kyushu property offering a polished hard product, refined service levels and an incredible dining experience. The property was rebuilt from scratch several years ago, with visions of a modern boutique hotel but with contemporary furnishings with local art. They've done a wonderful job here - the buildings blend into the Unzen environment without dominating the landscape (it's right next to ”Unzen Jigoku,” aka ”Unzen Hell” hot springs.) From most of the rooms as well as the lounge area, you're treated to a front-row seat to the views of Unzen Hell, complete with the strong sulphur smell (which we like, to be honest.) The grounds are immaculately maintained, and it really is a tranquil environment that is at harmony with the area at large. We chose to spend our 3 nights in one of the ”Hanare” (detached and separate building) rooms since they provided more privacy and space, although it's at the expense of a view of Unzen Jigoku that other rooms offer. The Hanare room offers bedrooms that are segregated from the living room (a key for us), as well as both an indoor as well as outdoor (open-air) Onsen hot springs bath, which was wonderful. The other benefit of Hanare-staying guests - you get to dine in a separate area, and in a private room, which is important to us, especially during COVID times. As a bonus, for the entire time we were there, the wonderful manager of Unzen Kyushu Hotel (Mr. Taura) personally served us - what a treat! He's an encyclopedia of food knowledge (as well as the local ingredients), and was very enthusiastic in his work. One other major bonus of this hotel, which really delighted us.... the pace of the meals was the best we've ever experienced. Nowhere else have we enjoyed a 9+ course meal in 90 minutes. And it didn't feel rushed at all. It was perfectly paced. Your mileage will vary, and that will be the result of the attentive staff and kitchen, who are quietly monitoring the pace of your food consumption so that everything is served exactly when you'd like it to be. Unzen Kyushu Hotel offers a choice of Japanese and Western-Japanese fusion meals, both for dinner and breakfast. Given we were there for 3 nights, we went with Japanese - Fusion - Japanese, and we were happy with the choice. Everything was unique, varied and umami-filled, even for breakfast, and we felt the quality was up there with the best ryokans and hotels in Japan. By this time, we weren't surprised... Kyushu (and Nagasaki) has awesome seafood, vegetables and fruits (the latter two thanks to the fertile volcanic soil), so chefs have top-notch ingredients to play with. Something

I chose this place for the first time in Unzen, because it is close to hell. Welcome drink service, kind and polite response of staff, room food, hot springs. I was able to spend it slowly. Because many celebrities were used, I enjoyed walking in the corridor while watching the color paper. One thing I was sorry about was that the yukata prepared in the room was different from one in other rooms. The pattern was different, and only I had the inn name, and I thought that I had brought it wrongly for men in the dressing room, and everyone was the same except me. I thought about whether I was changing yukata so that I could see at a glance by the price of the plan or whether there was no other intention, but I was a little disgusted with the gaze from other customers. Other than that, it was an inn that I wanted to disturb you if I had another chance.

Hotel location is good, go right and turn to the hot spring shrine, then enter the hot spring hell area, walk about half an hour, a very good feeling. The breakfast is rich and the food is served. We live in a Japanese tatami for six people and are very suitable for family trips. The hotel is too old and some facilities can't keep up with the new hotel. The parking lot is large and there is no problem parking. The fly in the ointment is likely to be economically depressed. The nearby restaurants have not been opened. After a long walk, the supermarket's talents have been asked to find a delicious restaurant (the hotel will turn left about 500 meters after going out). There is also the hot spring water is too hot, higher than 40 degrees, can not stand for a few minutes.

From the approach to the entrance, lobby, dining, library, etc., everything is a photo spot. The room (superior twin) is a classic and simple furnishing of the wooden center (especially impressed by the opening and closing of the wooden frame window). The quality of the equipment and amenities is high, and it seems comfortable even for long stays (however, the leakage of the fashionable hand shower in the cat foot bathtub is x). Dinner is a French course choice. Dare to leave the smell of jibie and thick saw It was a traditional taste to enjoy the so. The large communal bath was made of Western style with stained glass, but it was a little disappointing because the hot springs were colorless and odorless. Overall, maintain the service level in a shortage of staff Therefore, it seems that the number of guests is limited (there were more than a dozen pairs on Saturday in late October), and the side to use was very comfortable. However, I was impressed by the tradition of classic hotels and the attitude to maintain this. , I was satisfied enough this time, so I honestly think that I don't have to revisit for the time being. Especially with the impression that there are few young staff, and when I review it from a new (young) perspective, It seemed to be a more attractive hotel.

highly recommended This year, the hotel with the best experience of ”one berth and two meals” in Kyushu, Unzen Fukudaya, has been managed by the family for 50 years, and is now the second-generation operation. Inquiries: info@fukudaya.co.jp The most important thing is that there is a patient and careful Chinese young couple working in the store, one is responsible for the front hall and the other is responsible for catering. Traffic problems. Dinner was good, sulphur springs were good, and it was not expensive to book a private pool, which was great. Very worthwhile hotel, will organize friends to go next time! Reminder, there are Island Rail 1-day or 2-day tickets sold in Isahaya (Adult 3500 / Child 1750 yen, including trains and cars). If you go directly to the hotel from Isahaya, it is recommended to take a bus directly in Isahaya , About 50 minutes. If you want to take a small yellow train deliberately, you must get to the main station Shimabara, change the bus in the direction of Unzen at the gate, and it will take 2 hours to get to the hotel.

It really seems like a better accommodation than I expected. The location is great with a view of the sea, cleanliness, facilities, breakfast, etc. There is no flaw. If I had to find a drawback, would it be that if I don't close the curtains, it's visible from the outside? I think this is the best accommodation in Obama.

This time? Then, go to a hot spring inn. I made it ”Seiunso” with a good reputation for word of mouth. As a result, it was a great success! I was able to spend a fulfilling time in a waste of one night. The room was a bed, but comfortable as a wide 々. All the meals were delicious, including Nagasaki Wagyu beef. Breakfast was gorgeous and I replaced it many times. It was good that there was a pigeon, a local dish in Nagasaki. And after all, the bath was good! It was a pity that the large communal bath and the open air were completely different, but both were able to take a leisurely bath as wide 々. An hour and a half by taxi from Nagasaki Station. To the famous Unzen Onsen. It feels like a small Owakudani in Hakone. The inn is this inn when it comes to Nagasaki. Stayed in a separate private room with an open-air bath. The Sukiya-zukuri made by the Miya carpenter has a cool appearance and a splendid building with pillars, but the facilities inside are a long time ago. The garden is wonderful, the open-air bath is the best, the hot water is moderate, and the amenities are substantial. There is a set of cosmetics of a certain pearl in a resort hotel in Tokushima, and the feeling of service a long time ago is undeniable. The number of dishes was too large to enjoy everything. Sashimi is normal, probably because the season I went to was not good. The meat was fatty. However, the staff was really impressed. I am admired by the politeness, cleanliness, and behavior. I think it is worth staying only for the staff's hospitality service.

We stayed at Iseya a whole week while visiting my partner’s son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren in a nearby town. We have stayed in Obama previously for the same reason, and the town was just as nice as we remembered. But this was the first time we had stayed at Iseya, and we are so glad we did. The ryokan has been there for centuries but was rebuilt in 2019 and now has all the modern comforts. The in-room private onsen is fantastic, real geothermal spring water, and really hot. The views and sunsets over Tachibana bay are great and we enjoyed watching the local older people play “grand golf” on the town playing field opposite the hotel (with the bay behind) every morning at 7 am. But it is the staff who really make the place special, so friendly, despite our very poor Japanese, and several speak good English. We really felt welcome, despite being the only foreigners staying there on most days. The breakfasts are fantastic, no need for lunch, and different every day. We ate there just one night and the meal was equally good. The housekeeping was immaculate. Overall highly recommended, and although not cheap, not vastly expensive either and definitely good value.

Other reviews seem a bit old, but breakfast seems not to be provided now. I bought ingredients at a nearby supermarket without meals and made it a steamed dish, but it was a fun experience. One mistake was that I should have prepared seasonings (salt, mayonnaise, etc.). The staff will kindly teach you how to use the steamer. The room was a very clean room with a slightly spacious Japanese room of 3 F, but it faced the national highway on the west side of the building. There is only this road on the west side of the Shimabara Peninsula, so there is not much traffic, but cars and trucks were running at night. It seems better to avoid people who are concerned about noise. Or the room that does not face the national highway may be different. Also, the other side of the national highway is the sea, but the view is almost impossible because the government office is in front of you. The bath and sauna were good. I think people who are looking for a hot spring inn that can be cheap and self-sufficient can enjoy it.

Something

This hotel booked in the name of the Secret Soup Association, 100% of the source confirmed that the quality of the spring did not say that there are three family soups, very private and very good experience. The hotel itself is small and exquisite, the decoration reveals the intention, the old and warm feeling. There is a Japanese girl who knows a little Chinese and is very cute!

Because it is an inn that is renovated everywhere, the old and new are strange. The meal was not good or not, but it seems that the steamed hell steamed dish steamed by the steam of the hot spring can be selected depending on the plan, so it may be better to have a regional color. However, if you take a bath at sunset, you can enjoy the spacious bathtub in the best location.

Their rooftop onsen has a good view of the sea.. rooms also face the sea… the food is great and wide variety… only setback is the pillars on the rooms are quite low.. if you are tall above 180cm need to be careful when going to the balcony.

Check in at the nearby Hamakan Hotel, then return to the Gisco Hotel, press your PIN yourself and enter the hotel. There are no employees at the front desk. In case of emergency, it seems to call the Hamakan Hotel. Take your favorite drink from the refrigerator at the front desk 1 book. Breakfast is also a system to take from the refrigerator by yourself, but I'm worried about safety because there is no one. At night 8 Sometimes, night shifts seem to come. It feels like an apartment or apartment with auto locks. The room is clean and tidyly renovated. Toilets, wash basins and showers are separate 々 so it is easy to use. There was even a foot massage machine and a hair iron. The view is great as you can see the sea from the room. There are seven and supermarkets just near the hotel. There is also a place to eat. I don't use it, but there are also large communal baths and table tennis tables.

This is one of the many traditional inns on the south side of Obama's hot spring town. It is an old building with two floors and a common toilet, making it an old-fashioned hot spring, but you can enjoy the hot spring and food at a reasonable price. The hot spring is an acidic Obama hot spring that flows directly from the source. Meals will be eaten at the restaurant. The white meat sashimi, such as fresh sea bream and flounder, was served in small bowls, sashimi, tempura, simmered dishes, and hot pots, and the portions were delicious and satisfying without being too much. Highly recommended for people who don't expect to stay in an inn with new facilities.

Second use 〜 overnight stay. The room is beautiful. I just sleep I think it's enough. The meal is a discount ticket for the tavern nearby This was used again for the second time 〜 (laughs) The restaurant was prosperous because the dishes were delicious. It's the first hot spring, but it's not in the hotel. I took a bath at another hotel. I think this is good because it is a night stay and cheap. There are various encounters 〜 (^^) and when you climb a little slope, there's a cold spring of carbonated water I brought it back with a PET bottle and used it in the bath. It seems to be good for the skin. Please come near it.

Not impressed by this hotel. For starters, it's the first time in my life that I had to pay for the stay in cash. I stayed in ten hotels across Japan, all but this one took credit cards. I have travelled extensively across all continents (except Antártica), including rural Brazil, inner city Marrakech, etc, never had to pay for a night using cash in forty years. I understand that Japan is very cash based, not bothered that small commerce and restaurants take only cash. But the other nine hotels accepted credit cards, time to get on with the times, just ridiculous. Hotel itself looked worn and dated. Must have been luxurious when it was built in the fifties, but by now the carpets look old, halls and room need painting, external swimming pool is off limits and crumbling, elevators are old and creaky. Onsen was nice, but water was not very hot. Most of the signs were in Kanji only, painful to have to use Google Translate to find out where reception is (bottom floors are confusing), in an international hotel (fortunately there was wi-fi). No need to translate everything, but at least get the basics done. On the positive side, room was nice, breakfast was very good, staff very polite and helpful. If you are a fifties buff and want to stay somewhere that takes you back, this is the hotel for you.
