Museum of Musical Instruments
📅 Itinerary Day 1: 9:00 AM - Start at Zenkov Cathedral (Ascension Cathedral), walk to the Museum of Musical Instruments, passing through the Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen, Monument of Panfilov, Military History Museum, and Museum of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan, all located nearby. Continue to the Green Bazaar, a vibrant fresh market, then walk to Almaty Central Mosque with its golden dome. Proceed to Arbat G. Almaty, take the subway to enjoy the view at Kok Tobe Hill, and then visit Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Day 2: Take a one-day trip to explore the treasures of Almaty lakes: Kaindy, Kolsai, and Charyn Canyon National Park. Day 3: Start at The Central State Museum of Kazakhstan, walk through the Park of the Foundation of the First President, then visit the nearby Sculpture Park. Continue to Republic Square, Independence Monument, Golden Warrior Monument, and Tagzym Memorial. Day 4: Visit Big Almaty Lake, enjoy coffee at TARY café, then return to the city to visit First President Park. Day 5: Fly to Astana. Start at Atyrau Bridge, walk along the river to Mechet' Chubary, but instead find Al-Ghani. Day 6: Begin at Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center, walk straight through Lovers Park to Bayterek Tower, then along the river, cutting into Presidential Park to visit the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation. Continue to Monument Kazakh Eli, Hazrat Sultan Mosque, The Grand Mosque of Astana, and enjoy a nighttime stroll. 🍴 Recommended Restaurants - Mostly end up at fast-food places because they have touchscreens with English options, making ordering easy! - Frequently visited Do Do Pizza and Doner, which have multiple branches. - For sweet drinks, tea, coffee, or baked goods like sandwiches and croissants, there are plenty of cafes everywhere, even in gas stations and natural tourist spots. - Personally, I liked Coffee Boom, which has several branches and offers good taste and reasonable prices. 📌 Tips - Yandex Go: A must-have app for getting around. It’s similar to Grab, allowing you to call taxis, order food, or send items. It also integrates with Google Maps-like features for public transport routes, including buses, subways, and walking directions. You can compare taxi prices and choose the one you prefer. I used cash payments, though sometimes drivers didn’t have change. However, the app calculates the exact fare. - Subway: Use coins to enter, but note that coins are not returned. At the destination, doors open automatically, and some stations promote face scanning. I haven’t tried the buses yet. - Airports: Don’t worry about food at Almaty or Astana airports; there are plenty of shops. Prices inside and outside the airport don’t differ much, in my opinion.
Almaty
#falladventures Six Coffee+Wine is a chic little café in Almaty known for its freshly baked pastries and warm atmosphere. I stopped by for a quick treat and picked up a chocolate croissant topped with almonds and mini chocolate chips — flaky, rich, and just sweet enough. The modern interior and leafy views make it a spot I’d love to linger in next time. 📍Almaty #croissantlover #almatycafe #coffeetime #hiddenbakeries #minimalistdesign
