Budapest Vacation Packages - Top Things to do in Budapest

Budapest
I traveled to a slightly distant country using sleeper trains. As a solo female traveler, I was nervous, so I booked private compartments for all my trips! I highly recommend private compartments for solo travelers or women traveling alone. I was quite stressed, wondering if I could catch the reserved trains, but thankfully, I managed to board both times without any issues. In the morning, they brought coffee, tea, and breakfast about an hour before arrival. Thanks to that, I didn’t oversleep and had a wonderful first experience on a sleeper train. I hope you find this helpful!
Comme Chez Soi
Tried several recommended popular restaurants in Budapest, but honestly, the taste was a bit hard to describe for us. However, the apple foie gras mash at Comme Chez Soi is truly worth a try! 🍎 Apple Mash with Foie Gras The foie gras is seared to perfection—crispy on the outside, tender and melt-in-your-mouth on the inside. Paired with apple slices and creamy mashed potatoes, the sweet and tangy apple perfectly balances the richness of the foie gras. This combination is surprisingly harmonious! Definitely a must-order dish in Budapest.✨ 🍝 Seafood Pasta The portion is huge! Enough for 3-4 people to share. Generous servings of seafood like mussels, prawns, and squid rings. The cooking style leans more towards Chinese stir-fried pasta, and their chili powder adds an extra kick—absolutely delicious. 🐌 French Escargot A rather ordinary dish. If there are other options, you might want to skip this one. Overall, this restaurant caters more to Chinese palates. Most of the diners on the day we visited were Chinese. The foie gras is outstanding, while the other dishes are decent but not exceptional. Service is top-notch! They even offer complimentary dessert wine and sorbet after the meal. If you plan to visit, make sure to book in advance, as walk-ins are likely to be turned away due to limited seating.
Vörösmarty Square
#falladventures November drapes Budapest in crisp autumn gold, with average highs of 8°C and lows dipping to 3°C—pack layers and a waterproof jacket for occasional rain (70mm monthly). The Danube reflects bare sycamores and ochre leaves along Margaret Island’s jogging paths, while thermal spas like Széchenyi beckon with 38°C outdoor pools steaming in the chill. Key events: - St. Martin’s Day (Nov 11): Goose feasts and young Beaujolais-style wines at ruin bars like Szimpla Kert. - Budapest Christmas Fair (late Nov): Mulled wine and lángos at Vörösmarty Square, fairy lights twinkling by dusk at 4 PM. Explore Buda Castle’s fog-shrouded ramparts or the Great Market Hall for paprika and chestnut purée. Flights from major EU hubs land at Ferenc Liszt Airport; trams 2 and 19 glide along the river. Sunset at 4:15 PM paints the Parliament in rose gold—perfect for photos.
Hungarian Parliament Building
Budapest, Hungary, is a city with a truly unique, tranquil atmosphere that truly captivates you when you visit. While preparing for my trip, I researched Budapest itineraries, Hungarian restaurants, the Széchenyi Baths, and night views. But when I actually went, I was like, "Ah, this is it!" The entire city was a photogenic spot! ✨ Budapest, in particular, has such a different vibe during the day and at night that you can spend an entire day wandering around the city without getting bored. I followed the itinerary below, and I think it'll help you plan your daily routine, so I'm sharing it with you! ⸻ 🌿 From New York Cafe to Porto di Pest: A Budapest Cafe Tour Budapest has many cafes, but **New York Cafe** is definitely worth a visit. There's a bit of a wait, but if you go on a weekday, it's much more relaxed. The interior is so European-inspired that you'll definitely need a hundred photos 🤎 I also highly recommend Porto di Pest, which has a similar vibe to New York Cafe. I definitely recommend making a reservation here! It's less crowded and much more relaxed than the New York cafe, making it a popular spot for travelers. If you're looking for a great cafe in Budapest, these two places are a must-visit! 👏 ⸻ 💦 A Budapest must-visit: Szechenyi Baths The highlight of any independent Budapest trip is undoubtedly the Szechenyi Baths. You get a discount if you enter before 9 PM, and I was surprised at how clean they are! From the photos, it looked a bit crowded, but once you step inside, you'll be like, "Wow... a bath like this in Europe?" 😍 The water is warm, and the crowds are spread out more than you'd expect, making it a perfect way to start your day in Budapest leisurely. ⸻ 🍽 If you want traditional Hungarian food, try Menza Restaurant This is a must-visit when searching for delicious Hungarian food! Reservations are required for Menza Restaurant. It's a perfect place for first-time visitors, offering a clean and authentic experience of traditional Hungarian cuisine like goulash and chicken paprika. The prices are reasonable and the flavors are mild, making it a perfect fit for Korean palates. 👍 ⸻ 🍷 When shopping for Tokaji wine, look for the "government-approved" label! One thing you absolutely must buy when visiting Hungary is Tokaji Wine. But I heard a tip: don't buy it anywhere; buy it with an official Hungarian government-approved label. They're available everywhere: airports, supermarkets, and wine shops. Just wander around and grab it if you find a good price. 💛 ⸻ 🏛 Morning: Parliament Building, Afternoon: Fisherman's Bastion + Buda Castle Night View This was the most impressive route I took during my independent Budapest trip. ✔ Morning: Stroll around the Parliament Building + Explore the Pest District This area best captures the atmosphere of Budapest, so just walking around was incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. ✔ Afternoon: Cross the Széchenyi Chain Bridge at sunset The sun sets early in Budapest, starting around 3:30 PM. Crossing the Széchenyi Chain Bridge at sunset is truly breathtaking... The photos are amazing too 😭 ✔ Dinner: Fisherman's Bastion + Buda Castle at night The atmosphere here completely changes at night. You'll understand why Budapest is so famous when you see it for yourself ✨ If you visit Budapest, be sure to see this in this order. You won't regret it! ⸻ ✨Budapest, Hungary Travel Review Budapest is a city that's truly satisfying even if you just follow the famous tourist attractions, and even if you wander down a single quiet alley, it's beautiful. It's a city that even beginners can easily navigate. From the Széchenyi Baths, Fisherman's Bastion, the Parliament Building, and Tokaj Wine, it's a city where you can enjoy yourself without getting tired at all, even with a full day. 💙 If you're planning a trip to Hungary, following this itinerary will make for a truly fulfilling trip! Next time, I'll share more detailed itineraries and delicious restaurants. ✨
Budapest
#falladventures Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺🏰🌉 A stunning city full of history, architecture, and vibrant life — but not the cheapest destination. Public transport is very efficient; we bought a 72-hour bus/tram/metro ticket, which was very convenient. Highlights 👣 • E-bike tour (4 hours) – great way to see the city with a knowledgeable guide • Fisherman’s Bastion – visit the bar just before sunset for breathtaking views over the Danube and Parliament • New York Café – incredibly gorgeous interior, though slow service can affect the experience • Restaurant Rustico – underrated gem, deserves more recognition for food quality • St. Stephen’s Basilica – stunning inside, and the top provides a fantastic city panorama • Thermal baths – relaxing, but often crowded; plan accordingly Tips 🎒 • Go early or late to major sights to avoid crowds • Bring layers — evenings on the Danube can be chilly • Book thermal baths in advance if possible • Public transport tickets save time and are economical for multiple trips Perfect for 🤍 • History and architecture lovers • Foodies seeking local and hidden gems • City explorers using bikes or public transport • Anyone wanting iconic city views, especially at sunset
