Cape Town Vacation Packages - Top Things to do in Cape Town
Boulders Beach
🩵 A very atmospheric little hotel in Simon’s Town, South Africa.
I love every little detail here, and the best part is the nice balcony with THE VIEW! 🤩
🌊 You can see the gorgeous Indian Ocean, and what's more—the famous Boulders Beach with its resident penguins is right here! Just a 5-minute walk away. 🐧
🌅 Enjoy the sunny views from your balcony with a glass of wine,
or have a barbecue if you'd like.
💎 The hotel is incredibly clean—like 200% clean—making for a very comfortable stay.
☕️ Fully equipped kitchen—from coffee and tea to tableware, wine 🍷 glasses, etc.
☀️ Plus, it's only a 5-minute walk to a free beach.
🏖️ You can hang out and relax here all day, swimming in the clear turquoise ocean. It’s safe and amazing!
Transportation:
🚕 Easy to reach by car (if you drive) or by Uber.
It takes about 1 to 2 hours from Cape Town (depending on where you stay in the city).
💸 Uber is quite affordable, only $20–$30 USD (and you can pay with cash for Uber in South Africa).
🍳 For breakfast, there is a cafe down by the ocean, just a 3-minute walk away, featuring tables with ocean views.
🍽️ For dinner, I headed into town via Uber (a 5-minute ride) or walked for about 30 minutes. There are a few restaurants on Main Street.
🍷 There is also a wine shop right down the street.
🍉 For groceries and drinks, there is a convenience store about a 10-minute walk away.
🌯 In town, you can visit a shopping mall with clothing stores, supermarkets for food and drinks, wine shops, cafes, and restaurants. I suggest going there if you’re driving, as taking an Uber back and forth can get a bit pricey.
Come and enjoy your getaway! ☀️
Table Mountain
📍 Place:
Cape Town, South Africa
✨ What it felt like:
From the colorful streets of Bo-Kaap to the sweeping views from Table Mountain, the city has a relaxed yet adventurous energy. Even on a budget, there’s a lot to explore—beaches, hikes, and free viewpoints make it easy to enjoy the scenery without overspending.
👀 What stood out:
Budget travelers can rely on MyCiTi buses and street food for affordable days, while mid-range options include boutique hotels and local cafés. Luxury travelers can enjoy private drivers, fine dining, and yacht tours. The city’s neighborhoods are walkable and photogenic, and transport passes or staying near attractions can save both time and money. Even small extras, like a coffee at a waterfront café, feel special.
💡 Exclusive tip:
For budget days, a MyCiTi day pass (R70) unlocks unlimited bus rides and easy access to free hikes and beaches. Mid-range visitors benefit from staying in De Waterkant or Green Point. Luxury travelers should book yachts, helicopter flights, and private tours in advance—they fill up fast.
❤️ Personal feeling:
Cape Town feels like a place to breathe and explore at any pace—whether sipping coffee overlooking the bay, wandering colorful streets, or taking in the sunset from a mountaintop, it’s easy to feel present and relaxed.

Table Mountain
If you come to Cape Town and don't go up Table Mountain, it's like you haven't really been to the city.
Table Mountain is the city's most prominent landmark, with its unique flat peak. You can take a cable car up in just a few minutes, but the view from the top is instantly worth it. You'll see Cape Town, the Atlantic Ocean, Lion's Head, Signal Hill, and Robben Island in a 360-degree panorama.
What impressed me most is that the top isn't just an observation deck; there are also short hiking trails to explore nature, plenty of photo opportunities, and the air is cooler than at the bottom. You should allocate at least 2-3 hours to fully enjoy the walk and take plenty of photos.
Recommendation: Check the weather forecast before you go, as the cable car might be closed if it's windy or cloudy. Also, booking tickets in advance will save time, especially during peak season when there are many tourists.
⭐ Rating: 5/5
This is one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen, and a place I would highly recommend everyone visit at least once when traveling to South Africa. #capetown #southafrica
Cape Town
Aquila Private Game Reserve offers the most convenient safari experience accessible from Cape Town. It’s the perfect choice if you're pressed for time but still want to spot the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo) just a couple of hours outside the city. Its close proximity makes it an excellent day-trip destination.
You have a real chance of spotting all five of these iconic animals here, along with giraffes and zebras. While animal sightings are never 100% guaranteed, the odds of encountering them are high. We missed out on the leopard and giraffe, but managed to see the rest. The elephants were a bit far off in the distance, but the lions, hippos, and rhinos were right up close. It all comes down to the luck of the draw!
The safari experience: A 2 to 3-hour ride in an open-air SUV led by an experienced guide.
The reserve boasts top-notch service and features an on-site hotel if you want to extend your stay for a few days. For day-trippers, everything is seamlessly organized—from a complimentary welcome drink and hearty all-inclusive meals (breakfast and lunch) to access to the swimming pool and spa.
The most popular choice is the day-trip package, which covers round-trip transfers from Cape Town, the safari drive, and meals. You’re also welcome to drive yourself. If you decide to spend the night, you can take your time enjoying both morning and evening game drives. Accommodation options include lodges and cozy cottages.
Beyond the standard large jeep tours, you can also opt for horseback safaris, ATV rides, or even walking tours led by a ranger.
This is a fantastic introduction to the African wilderness. However, if you’re a seasoned safari-goer who has visited massive national parks like Kruger, you might find this reserve a bit too touristy and highly managed.
Advance payment is required for all bookings, which can be made via their official website, at their Cape Town office, or through Trip.com.
Boulders Beach
Boulders Beach is one of the few places in the world where you can get up close and personal with African penguins right in their natural habitat.
Most of the beach features elevated boardwalks, making it super easy to watch the penguins without disturbing them. You get incredible views from up here, though it does get pretty crowded. Plus, keep an eye out for the fluffy baby penguins hanging out with the adults—they're incredibly easy to spot and look exactly like little plush toys!
Between the two beach entrances, there's a public path where you can check out the penguins completely for free, away from the platforms. The general admission fee is pretty affordable anyway, and a single ticket gets you into both entrances.
If you head in through the right entrance, you can actually scramble through the giant boulders and end up practically right next to the penguins—no fences, no platforms! You will have to do a bit of climbing and wade through some water to get there, but trust me, it's absolutely worth it.
Important rules to keep in mind:
· Hands off the penguins! Touching them is strictly off-limits. You could easily scare them, and they might even peck you in return.
· Keep the noise down. If you stay quiet and avoid any sudden movements, these curious little guys might just waddle right up to you—sometimes they aren't scared of humans at all!
· Check before you drive. Before pulling out of the parking lot, always peek under your car to make sure there isn't a penguin hiding underneath. You'll see plenty of warning signs around the area reminding you to do this. It's super important for keeping the birds safe!
V&A Waterfront
#capetown #south_africa #vawaterfront
The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town has something for everyone: from culinary discoveries to sea adventures! You'll find fur seals right at the docks, lazily basking in the sun, diving, and posing for photos. It's a joy to watch them! Rise 55 meters above the ground on the Ferris wheel for stunning views of the waterfront, Table Mountain, and the bay. It's especially beautiful at sunset!
You can take a boat ride along the bay and canals: you'll see the waterfront from the water, admire the yachts and sailboats, and if you're lucky, you might even spot dolphins!
The waterfront offers dozens of establishments to suit every taste: seafood restaurants serving oysters and lobster, cafes serving South African cuisine, and cozy coffee shops and bars overlooking the water. In the souvenir shops, you can buy handmade souvenirs from African artisans: jewelry, textiles with ethnic patterns, wines, and spices!
It's best to come during the day to take in everything, and stay until sunset—the views are stunning!
